Work Text:
It was 11am and Kohane just woke up. She was feeling so tired and drained from their previous live last night but she had plans. Plans with An of course. She kind of didn't want to go, but it was An, and Minori insisted she went. She sounded so passionate for it as well.
minori : KOHANE WAKE UP
minori : KOHANE YOU HAVE A DATE WITH
AN-CHAN TODAY GET READYminori : GET READY
minori : HURRY UP
kohane : im still so sleepy ´-`)zzz
minori : you're going.
minori : ARE YOU GETTING READY ??
minori : ARE YOU-
It went something like that, Kohane doesn't remember anymore. All she can recall were all the caps used that made her feel obligated to go, even though she was going anyways.
An on the other hand was freaking out as she got ready at Akito's house. She was supposed to get help from Mizuki but they wounded up at the Shinonomes house for some reason.
"Does this outfit look nice?" "What if the ring doesn't fit her..." "What if she cancels!" *she doesn't*
"Oh my god shut up! You're fine..." Akito said grumbling as he was doing whatever he was doing (idk what he was doing don't ask me)
"Okay when you plan to propose I'm not helping you." An said with that '😒' face.
Akito rolled his eyes.
"An you'll be fine. Plus it's me helping you out." Mizuki said with a cat like grin.
*AN: Nevermind can we just get to the part where An picks up Kohane and they go on their little hangout date whatever it is. Yeah. Okay. You're the one writing. Okay.
An skittishly walks up to Kohane's front door, hands sweaty. She texted Kohane that she was outside and waited.
.. *tbh at this point I realized idfk how to write but I need to write this omlll - sorry continuing*
Kohane rushes to the door grabbing her stuff and as she went to unlock it-
"Hi Kohane!" An says almost immediately. Actually it was immediately, the door wasn't even opened yet as Kohane was still unlocking it, but An couldn't help herself, she was so excited and anxious at the same time the butterflies she didn't even know she had were starting to flutter. Whoops.
Kohane chuckled at An's antics and opened the door, for real this time, and they were both blown away. Literally, a gush of wind suddenly blew their direction for some reason not comedic affect or anything.
Kohane had to push the strands of hair away from her face to which An just had to help her do. Kohane didn't want to be so flustered within the first 5 seconds of their date but she was. And she was red. If An didn't know any better she probably would've ran away from mistaking her as a tomato.
They've known each other for 6 (?) years now but Kohane still gets embarrassed when An decides to get too close. There are some benefits though. It's nice to see the sparkle in An's eye when looking at Kohane, and in a moment of boldness, she can lightly peck An on the lips.
Which is what she did in that moment after a bit of hesitation.
"... Let's go," Kohane said trying to walk away unbothered.
"Yeah... alright." An choked on her words.
Every time Kohane did something like that it made An want to pass out. Now they were both flustered. Kohane didn't even know where she was walking to since An was the one who planned this. She turned back and saw An still frozen in her spot. Now Kohane had to go rescue her.
"I think the parking area should be around here somewhere?" An said examining the area surrounded by dead plant life and dirt.
An parked on some random gravel road with a sign near it saying "--- Garden" (not exposing their location for safety purposes).
"Yep! We're here!"
"An-chan, you can't be serious right?"
Kohane was skeptical about the place. It seemed like somewhere you'd get murdered at in a horror movie. At least it was still daytime?
"No no I saw the photos online the garden is along the trail where the rest of the pretty stuff is. I swear!"
Kohane really wanted to believe that this place was only like this on the outside, but it wasn't likely.
"Okay, i'll trust you." She really didn't.
An got out the car and opened the door for Kohane like the proper gentleman she was and they headed towards the trail to the main garden, at least, thats what the sign said.
"If I get tired from walking you'll carry me, right?" Kohane asked with an innocent smile.
"Yes, definitely, of course." An said fidgeting with the ring box in her pocket. She really didn't expect the place to look so dead. It was literally springtime when the plants are supposed to be blooming. Where are the blooms.
"I hope there's at least one thing there that won't be dead. I brought my camera with me..."
An noticed Kohane looked a bit down saying that.
"It's fine! I promise there will be something pretty for you to take a photo of later. If there isn't you can break up with me!"
"An-chan?!"
"Haha joke... right?"
Kohane held on tightly to An's sweaty hand with a determined face as they kept walking. (side note yk the face kohane makes when singing, yeah that face) It made An feel a bit more secure about the proposal now that she knows Kohane felt like that. 'That' as in not wanting to let her go but it feels just a tad silly to say that.
As they continued to walk on a dirt path while talking about random things with a dead landscape to tie everything together, Kohane was starting to lose the hope she never had.
"An-chan... does this garden even exist?"
"Haha... I think this is the garden..." An said pausing in her tracks as the plants that looked anything but green in color starred at them.
"But it's fine! Right? I mean if you want to head back we can. I'm sure there are other gardens out there..."
An tried staying optimistic about this but it was getting hard to. Why did something like this have to ruin her proposal? If there was a real god, she hoped they'd make the prettiest blossoms bloom just for Kohane on this day. Just for today.
"-No! You went out of your way to plan this. It'd be a waste not to at least look around for a bit..!"
That didn't make sense whatsoever but Kohane made it seem like she wanted to give up walking just a few seconds ago but now she wants to keep going? There's definitely a reason. Maybe the reason has something to do with why Kohane can't stop sneaking glances at An or starring at her. Or maybe the author wanted the story to progress and fit into this timeline. I don't know, I put a maybe there for a reason.
"Okay. A few more minutes to give this garden a chance cause I feel bad for making you walk all the way here..." An said with a slight chuckle.
Right when An gave up hope and was about to discard her idea of her proposal, she noticed a hill that would be her target for this proposal. Even though this may not be an ideal place for one, the journey would've definitely made it more memorable.
"Nevermind, Kohane. Just keep walking, trust me."
An smiled at Kohane as she held the ring box in her pocket tightly. She had already decided that she was going to do this today and everyone else already knows, there'd be no point in giving up now.
After a couple minutes, and a few calories burned later, An could see the top of the hill more clearly. It had such a unique curvature with the sun peaking just over the horizon. Not to mention the wind adding the perfect finishing touch as it was at the most ideal speed for proposing.
Yeah, just let An picture this as the most perfect place in the world for a moment, and for Kohane too. The sun wasn't even peaking over the horizon, it was only 1pm. Who even cares about the windspeed anyways?
It doesn't matter though, An was going to do it. They were at the top of the hill, An had the ring, Kohane was glistening *from the sweat but ignore that* and An was going to do it.
"Well, I guess we should head back now since there's no where else to go..." Kohane said as she walked over to the ledge and looked over the scenery. Just regular scenery.
"Yeah... we can go. But just one more thing though."
An started making her way towards Kohane when she 'tripped' and landed down on one knee.
"An-chan-"
Kohane went to grab An's hand to help her up but instead of getting up An stayed put as she put her other hand in her pocket.
"Kohane... hear me out on this."
Now she was nervous. Her heartbeat was so loud people in Canada could probably be able to hear. No, they definitely heard.
"What-"
Kohane felt like she knew what was going to happen. An on one knee, Kohane hearing An out, them at the most perfect place in the world (specifically for a proposal). Now Kohane's heart rate was accelerating. The poor Canadians.
"As you know we've been dating for 11 months and 18 days now but recently I've been thinking... actually I don't have to think at all I'll just let myself talk if you let me."
Kohane could only stare, eyes glued on An. A tear appeared in her eye. It felt so surreal. No way THE Shiraishi An is proposing to her right now at the most perfect garden in the world.
*should I continue An's corny ass speech or should I stop? too bad I'm continuing it and its going to be bad cause idk what its like to propose*
"I kind of always knew you were amazing from that time you first sang at Weekend Garage. I'm glad you came back that day as the rest of my life suddenly felt more vivid *wink.* Each moment I've spent with you ever since then made me realize how much I love you. Whether were sitting in silence, or discussing our next live, I always think about how I want to be with you forever. And right now..."
An pulls out the ring box, as she fumbles it a little, and opens it. Kohane had to cover her face slightly due to her tears of joy.
"-whoops... I mean- now I want to ask if you feel the same... possibly...? Kohane, will you marry me?"
Finishing her monologue, An's eyes started to sparkle and a tear fell but she still kept a bright smile.
*click*
"Kohane-?"
"I guess there was something pretty here for me to take a photo of... I kind of have to accept your proposal now..." Kohane said laughing while her tears still didn't stop and An was starting to tear up more too. The only thing An could think of to do now was to hug embrace Kohane in a tight hug.
"... You're saying yes, right?"
"Yes... definitely, of course."
An pulled away from the hug to look at Kohane and shook her head jokingly while smiling. An got the ring out and put it on Kohane's ring finger, which thankfully fit.
"You're so... sweet. I'm glad I went back to the cafe that day as well... Thank you."
Kohane went to go hug An this time and they stayed like that for a while. 'A while' but longer than what would normally be considered healthy.
Once they pulled back they realized they were still at this barren place.
"Not going to lie, I was still kind of deciding whether I should propose here or not since this didn't really go the way I wanted."
An cupped Kohane face in her palms.
"But its okay... I think this place is perfect because you're here."
It made Kohane smile eye to eye, face flushed.
"I could say the same to you..."
"... Okay enough of this I'm crying."
An backed away from Kohane and started to laugh.
After a few more exchanged words, they went back down the trail towards the car but there was something Kohane still wanted to get before leaving.
An was beaming with charm, contrasting the mundane background, and it was something Kohane couldn't help but get drawn into ever since they arrived. She wanted a photo of it.
Kohane snapped her photo of An waiting for just the right moment for the sun to hit her face. It took a couple tries but she got one.
They got back into the car finally getting to rest after all the walking.
"I hope this was still enjoyable for you."
"Yeah. I'm a bit sleepy though haha..."
Kohane was still tired and all that walking didn't help. On the way back An got a photo of her own. Kohane passed out on the passengers seat showcasing her wearing her new ring.
The End :0
