Chapter Text
Sebastian reached the edge of the pond before continuing his out-loud memorizing of the play script, "Give me the child...through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the goblin city, to take back the child that you have stolen, for my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great...."
He pulls the book out of his pocket, "damn, I can never remember that line" he muttered as he flipped through the pages of the book, "you have no power over me."
The clouds quickly became grey and unwanted thunder invited itself into the world, he looked up at the sky and then at the grey and white Komondor that was sitting on the nearby bench, "Oh, Merlin, what am I to do?" He sighed before re-reading that section of the book again.
In the distance clock bells could be heard from the town's clock tower, "7 o'clock already!?" He yelled before calling the dog and sprinting out of the park and out towards the street, "Oh Merlin, why can't I ever get a day off! Why can't Father and that Witch stay home for once!" He complained to the dog as they ran through the middle of houses and out towards his house where he found his stepmother awaiting him.
"Really!"She snapped at him, "I'm sorry Rosetta!" She sighed and mutters to herself before giving up and telling him to come inside, "Come on Merlin, Come on.", She snapped at him again "Not the dog!", Sebastian quickly retorted back "But it's pouring out here!" Rosetta just rolled her eyes and yelled at the dog to go into the garage, it obeyed the order and ran off into the garage for warmth and shelter.
Sebastian and Rosetta hurried into the house together, "You're an hour late you know." She managed to not yell at the poor boy, "I said I was sorry.." he muttered, "Let me finish." She snapped back at him, "Your father and I rarely go out together, and you never tell us that you have plans." Sebastian retorted back in the same way that she had done before, "You two go out every weekend! And two you never ask me if I have plans!".
She twisted her head towards him, "Well I would assume that you would tell us! You are 17 I'm sure you are more than capable of saying 'I will be doing something and cannot look after my sister' or are you that useless, that you are unable to say even those simple words!" Sebastian was taken aback by her words and could only stand there for a moment, mouth gaping like a fish before shutting his mouth and storming up the stairs into his room, and slamming the door behind him.
He sighed as he walked over and flopped onto his bed, there was no point in being angry, no matter what happened his father would always take the witch's side.
He pulled his script out of his pocket as he lifted his head, he flipped through some of the pages until he stopped on a specific page, on it was an illustration of the so-called 'Goblin King' who was currently sitting on his throne in a very un-majestic way, Sebastian rubbed the page, he had always liked the way that he looked, long white hair tied into a ponytail, dollish ruby-red eyes, and porcelain-like skin (from what his imagination came up with), he was small and had an alluring feminine body. To sum it all up: Sebastian thought he was gorgeous. Obviously, Sebastian kept this information between himself, his pillow and the book script in his hand.
He was quickly dragged out of his thoughts when he heard a knock on the door, "Sebastian." It was his father. "We are going out now, I've put Lila to bed, so you won't have to do much except calm her down if she starts acting up. Have..." the voice paused for a second, "Have a nice night." He listened as muffled footsteps distanced themselves from his hearing range.
Sebastian groaned as he heard the cries of a baby, he gently placed the book down on his pillow and propped himself up on his elbows, "this is going to be a long--" he quickly shot up when he noticed a certain stuffed bear was missing from his shelf, "Lancelot!" He got up and practically ran into his parent's room, he saw the bear lying in the middle of the floor near his sister's crib, quickly he ran over and picked up the bear hugging it tight, it was the last thing his mother gave him before passing…
Lila cried louder to the point where even a deaf person could hear her, "Alright, Alright!" He gently picked her up and started rocking her in his arms, "Oh how I wish you would just disappear.." he muttered as her cries died down.
He whispered to her, "I'm going to tell you a story.
Once upon a time, there was a handsome young boy whose stepmother always made him stay home with the baby. and the baby was a spoiled child and she wanted everything for herself. and the young boy was practically a slave.
but what no one knew was that the king of the goblins had fallen in love with the boy, and he had given him certain powers, and so one night when the baby had been particularly cruel to him, he called on the goblins for help."
Lila started crying more as she was held up into the air only inches away from Sebastian," 'Say your right words, the goblins said 'and we'll take the baby to the goblin city, and you'll be free
but the boy knew that the king of the goblins would keep the baby in his castle forever and ever and ever, and turn it into a goblin.
and so the boy suffered in silence, until one night, when he was tired from a day of housework and was hurt by the harsh words of his stepmother, and he could no longer stand it."
Sebastian stopped because the cries of the child in his hands were becoming unbearable, "Alright, Alright! You win!" He gently rocked her back and forth, and as she cried he continued, "I'll say the words...no, I mustn't, I mustn't say..." Her cries were becoming unbearable and so he continued, "I can bear it no longer...goblin king, goblin king, wherever you may be, take this child of mine far away from me!" He cried out, but nothing happened.
After about a minute of her crying the sound slowly died down to a more bearable volume, so he placed her back into the crib, tucked her in and left her to cry herself to sleep, he paused at the door frame as he looked back at her, "I wish the Goblins would take you away." He muttered bitterly and walked out only to stop when everything in the house became silent of cries.
