Chapter Text
Druid monkeys were always a peaceful group. Oftentimes they would oppose the whole idea of war, since it destroyed the forest they lived in. Other times, they got mad at the Balloons for starting the war. Obyn knew that either way, their actions in the war were fueled by their love of the forest.
That’s why Obyn said yes to the military base in need of help. Apparently, they weren’t ready for Moabs filled with ceramics yet. They said that they needed one more Druid to complete their squadron of them. Now, he wasn’t too keen on endangering one during the journey. He preferred to be alone, and he preferred to work alone.
But, he agreed to everything in the contract. Meaning that he needed to not only bring a druid, but two other monkeys for his protection. Which again, he didn’t need. He stared at the contract with a grim expression. He just needed one volunteer, and he could be on his way. Maybe he could lie about the two other monkeys not being strong enough to survive the balloons.
Yeah. That would work. Now the other problem would arise. Who would he pick? There was the poplust ones, who were eager for a fight. The jungle druids were very common and rather peaceful. And then, the druids of the storm. They were rare, powerful, and expensive. Bringing one along would be a total waste. The bigger bases needed the stronger monkeys, since they were constantly facing the worst of the worst.
Then again, he didn’t have to pick a path. He could just pick a Druid who hasn’t chosen one yet, and be on his merry way.
That’s exactly what he did. Picking one at random was also very easy, since there was only one Druid without a path in this group. The guy didn’t even have a name. Which was midly concerning at the time.
Now, he found himself sitting alone with the lad. In the middle of the forest.
“Wanna know why i brought you here?” He asked, his voice being stiff and rough.
Before the young monkey could speak, he answered his own question. “You’re being sent off to a military base nearby. I’m also coming with you.” He said, looking to the side.
“W-What? Really?!” Druid said, being shocked by the statement. Him? Why him of all monkeys?
“Yeah, really.” Obyn responded, frowning slightly. “We’re gonna leave at dawn. Be prepared, kid.” Obyn said, leaving the Druid alone.
The next few months would be some eventful ones.
