Chapter Text
Thunder roared outside as lightning flashed. Genya watched as the raindrops dripped down the window. It was raining heavily outside and didn't seem like it was going to stop anytime soon. Next to him was Muichirou who was also watching the rain drip from the window. By the way, he looked at it, it was as if he was concentrating on it, Genya could tell he was most likely watching them race.
Genya leans over to see what he was doing. “Which ones are you watching?” he asked.
Muichirou points to which ones he’s watching race. “I think the left will win.”
Genya grins. “Hm, if you say left I'll go…right! That way I’ll win!”
Muichirou doesn't even spare him a look, too concentrated on the water droplets to turn away. Even so, he scoffs. “I’m sure the left is going to win, I always win.”
Genya shakes his head in disagreement, as he watches the right drop of rain. He knew Muichirou was competitive, but he had to win against him at least once!
With a gust of wind, the two raindrops are sent falling down the window. Genya eagerly watched his drop sped down the window going quicker than the left one. He cheered his little droplet as it was so close to reaching the bottom of the window at the frame. His excitement was cut short by Muichirou’s droplet that had ended up finishing before his.
“What!?” Genya cried out, distraught. But the boy just simply giggles, looking at him maliciously. “How!?”
Muichirou shrugs it off standing up from his spot on the couch. “I said I always win, didn't I?” He stretches; his body sore from sitting in the same position for an extended period of time. Another rumble of thunder roared outside and he jumped.
Genya shifts himself on the couch to a more relaxed, comfortable position. He turned his head over to Muichirou, raising one of his eyebrows. (or what he has left of them.) “Are you scared?” he teased.
Muichirou’s hands ball up into fits before he crosses his arms and pouts. “No, I don't get scared, especially by something as simple as thunder.”
As before another cry of thunder yelled among the dark clouded sky. And Muichirou quickly jumped onto the couch. Genya laughed as he ruffled the other boy’s hair. “You’re literally a scared little cat!”
Muichirou sighs and rolls his eyes, ignoring Genya and his odd comments. Genya scoots over and pulls Muichiro closer to him. He squirms in return. Genya wraps his arms around him and rocks gently to the left and to the right.
“Stop,” Muichirou grumbles.
Genya shushes him as he continues to rock. A flash of lightning with a rumble of thunder comes around once again, accompanied by heavy rain.
Around 5 minutes later, Genya stopped rocking and just rested. “What do you think of heavy rain, Mui?”
He was met with no response and leaned his head forward to be met with Muichirou fast asleep. He smiled listening to the pouring showers outside. When he was younger, on a rainy day, whenever Genya was upset or sad. His mother would place his head in her lap, stroke his hair and hum softly as the rain poured down outside.
And that is almost exactly what he did. Instead of placing his head in his mother's lap he just laid it back on the top of the couch and instead of having his hair stroked, he was the one doing it to Muichirou. As he started to drift asleep there was one thought that bubbled up.
“Next time, I'll choose the left side.”
