Work Text:
The beach was Opeli’s happy place. The sound of the crashing waves always soothed her mind, giving her a space to collect her thoughts and escape from her life.
It's not like she disliked the bustling capital of Katolis, in fact it was right up her alley, but sometimes castle life is stressful, and this beach always gave her a clear mind.
Her father always took her here to fish and swim, he always said that breaks were needed to obtain the peace of mind Opeli always seemed to need. She rarely took the advice.
But she was here and it was clear how much she longed for the salty waves and sandy shores, it was clear how much she overworked herself for days on end.
Opeli was always the top student in her class, never giving herself time to goof around in class like the others. She was always too determined to fail in any subject. These days Opeli’s less hard on herself, still as witty and revolutionary though.
Her old friends had always told her that she was overly serious, but maybe Opeli liked it that way.
Opeli was the reliable high cleric now, others would say that she did way more than that. From Harrow's death to now Opeli found herself taking on a bigger role. She found herself being queen for a day one too many times.
In the back of her mind she sometimes thought that Ezran was a little childish, before she remembered that Ezran was only nine. He had to care for a kingdom before he even had the chance to reach a full decade of age.
Opeli tried her best to teach Ezran all she knew about nurturing a kingdom; she could see the effects of her efforts as the years went by.
She always knew her work, her determination, and her bravery were always appreciated by many. But sometimes, maybe a lot of the time, she could feel herself cracking under all the work.
Opeli now rested her feet in the shimmering waters and reminded herself to do this again.
