Work Text:
Kotoko hated that boy. Once she had what now seemed like a childish crush. Just a dumb attraction for someone attractive, who possessed little under his skin except vanity and ego. The coldness in which he ripped her elaborate love letter shattered her heart into more pieces that her letter-turned white confetti decorated with kanji had been ripped apart into.
The universe punished for daring to declare her feelings to someone of Class-A, the very best in her high school. Her home had collapsed in a cruel earthquake and now she was forced to live besides that pretentious Naoki Irie. Live under him as a housemaid. She would have rather been dropped off in an orphanage. At least there people would ar least pretend to care for her.
It was noon by this point. She had sullied for her whole time there; two days of servitude. Two days of resentment and two days since the flame of hatred burnt deep within her chest. A flame once alike to a candle was now a forest fire that burnt everything in its path. She could feel that flare with every beating of her heart. Her blood vessels now carried more violent thoughts that red matter, leading to her brain.
An electrical surge was born from her pink matter. She had just finished making lunch, quite an elegant one that would results in the scraps she would eat herself. She was alone in the house with Naoki Irie, as his family had gone to the beach and left the two of them alone, in some deluded hopes of his mother to make both of them get along and eventually marry. The electrical pulse commanded her legs to move and approach the table, still carrying the heavy butcher knife in her left hand.
As she handed over the meat, the boy didn't even look at it for more than a second before moving his eyes to meet Kotoko's
- "This is disgusting. You're lucky my parents force me to eat this, otherwise I'd throw it out of the window"
The boy took a bite. The meal was nowhere as horrid as he has pretended, but he loved insulting the girl at every chance he got. Wasn't she a good-for-nothing idiot from Class-F? She deserved it.
The girl's lower lip began to tremble, similarly to when one is about to cry. The electricity in her brain reached her left arm, raising it slowly.
- "You...you..."
The boy got out of his seat to approach the girl and grab her by the neck, raising her chin to meet his eyes with hers.
He began to grin with pleasure. With a sadistic look in his eyes, he stared at the girl with the same face he had put while rejecting her. Everything had become red, and he could feel this...sensation in his stomach. The adrenaline filled his body, similarly to excitement, until the pain begun to set in, and the cold surface of a knife penetrated his ribs.
- "Ack!!..."
No words could escape his mouth. Only blood appeared from it, puking out his life liquid before being pushed to the ground.
The girl didn't waste a second and kept stabbing the man. The room filled with drowned screams, the sound of a blade cutting through flesh and the grotesque sound of blood pouring out. After fifteen seconds, he had been reduced to a carcass in the floor. His expensive clothing had been tainted in dark red, and multiple stab wounds revealed his insides to the world. There was no ego in there, not anymore.
The former maid woke up, dropping the knife on the floor. Her hands were covered in deep red. A sign of broken chains and vengeance. The color of love and violence.
Who was now in pieces? Who was now the one left heartbroken? No longer were those terms metaphors. Now there were reality. The girl opened a window, and without saying a single word, and her face covered in shadows and perhaps a smile, she abandoned the house, never to return.
