background information:
in planet university, the dorm building "999" (as dubbed by the university students), is a place for stragglers. those who *forgot* to fill out their roommate request forms, got ditched by their old roommates, the pairs of roommates here and there that couldn't find a dorm to move into for the next semester, freshmen, and more. on the ninth floor of dorm building 999 for this year, an interesting group of boys come together as they struggle their way through their university years.
first, there's kim jiwoong, the only senior on the floor, whose roommate, lee hoetaek, is almost never in their dorm. since hoetaek didn't really care where they lived for their final year in university together (read: doesn't even live in the dorm), jiwoong had filed to request a room in a "quiet building," and found himself in room 901 of building 999.
then, there's zhang hao and shen quanrui (who goes by his english name, ricky), who are long-lost childhood friends from their days back in china. both are extremely relieved upon knowing that they managed to get a room with someone they "know." zhang hao's old roommate, chen kuanjui, returned to his hometown, taipei, leaving him to fend for himself, while ricky simply decided he wanted to "meet new people" and ditched his old roommate, ma jing xiang. they will room in room 902 in building 999
next, there's sung habin and seok matthew, who shared a dorm room last year as well. unfortunately, in their haste of being university students they "forgot" to submit their request to stay in their dorm room and were promptly removed at the end of last year. in an attempt to *not* have to live off campus, they filed a request to move into the least popular dorm building on campus, and were thankfully granted their wish. they will spend the rest of this year in room 903 in building 999.
additionally, there's kim taerae and kim gyuvin. honestly, no one really knows how they ended up together, but taerae specifically stressed that he needed a "quiet" dorm room with an understanding roommate as he belted out his tunes for vocal practice. somehow, gyuvin was on the receiving end of that, and he's more than intimidated to be sharing a room with one of the most popular singers on campus. but, alas, not all wishes can be fulfilled, so the two of them will be together in room 904 in building 999 for the rest of the year. the joys. hopefully, gyuvin has some really good earplugs he can put to use.
finally, there's park gunwook and han yujin, both freshmen, who didn't fill out their dorm or roommate forms and were treated as the spares. whoever thought placing them on a floor with a bunch of upperclassmen and sophomores clearly didn't think things through well enough, but it's alright, since they've got each other and sunbaes to help them out. that is, if they aren't too scared to approach them for anything. the two of them will somehow figure out how to navigate their first year of university without becoming the university's latest joke or fail out of class. let's wish them the best as they settle in room 905 in building 999.
nine boys, one unlikely dorm floor arrangement. perhaps, as the year goes on, they will realize they were placed here for a reason. maybe, just maybe, fate had a plan for all of them, a good one, of course.
