『…me…
Help…
Help me.
The bad guys caught me.
You are different, so I’m sure you can save me.
I beg you. You must find me.』
◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇
Strange. Whose voice is that?
She slowly opens her eyes.
Seems like I fell asleep just now.
There’s a voice in my dream. What did he say? I can’t remember it.
But he sounds familiar…
She blinks a few times. The dim light isn’t quite the same as what she’s used to.
She should have just finished her lunch and lay on her bed reading books before she fell asleep. Is it already that late?
The surface beneath feels cold.
Her room isn’t that empty either.
Wait, where am I?
She has a sudden realisation.
This isn’t my home.
As if responding to her thought, swaying candlelights lit up the space. Then she sees what a place it is.
This place looks like a courtroom. There is only one huge conference table at where the public gallery should be. It’s also what she has been sleeping on just now.
The bench has two rows, with eight Baroque-style chairs. Several men are looking her way on their seats.
Who are they?
The large windows behind them capture an endless night. Seven violet silk flags hang from the edge of the windows, each with a different totem embroidered.
Peacock.
Raven.
Serpent.
Unicorn.
Scorpion.
Dipteran.
Taurus.
They look unrelated. But not to her.
This couldn’t be…
Her eyes meet with those of the young man in the seat of the chief judge. He smiles and speaks.
“Welcome to the Devildom, Muirne.”
◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇
Insane. This is insane.
Muirne is always being called a lunatic. But this is the first time of her life believing in it.
She is an atheist, but she chose to study Religions in university due to her interest in said matter. Comparing to other science and history studies, references and decipherment skills for Religions are harder to obtain through self-study.
She always believed that the ghosts and gods are all fictional creations for the use of controlling human beings.
So, neither the seven flags of demon symbolism, nor what this person was saying makes sense.
Seeing no reaction from her, the young man with red hair and brown skin nervously adds.
“...Oh, pardon me. Feeling a bit shocked, are we? Well, that’s understandable. You’ve only just arrived, after all. As a human, it will probably take a little while for you to adjust to things here in the Devildom.”
No, that’s not the point.
Muirne doesn’t feel like pointing it out right now.
“Is this a dream...?”
She mutters and pinches her arm. It hurts. A lot. But she’s still standing in the courtroom.
The young man laughs after hearing her whisper.
“Haha! What a very ‘human’ thing to say! Outstanding. I have a feeling you might be just the sort of person we’re looking for.”
What sort of person?
“However, I should probably go ahead and make one thing clear now… This is not the sort of dream you’ll be able to wake yourself from.”
He puts on a serious face, and a nameless pressure instantly fills the room. It is not a bad joke. Her intuition tells.
“…You said here is the ‘Devildom’?”
“Yes, exactly, the Devildom. I see that you catch on quickly. Excellent.”
This is insane.
But the thundering heartbeats in her doesn’t scream fear.
“Pardon me. I suppose I should start by introducing myself.”
He again smiles innocently.
“My name is Diavolo. I am the ruler of all demons, and all here know of me. Someday soon, I will be crowned King of the Devildom.”
Why am I meeting the Prince first thing here?
Diavolo points at the void in front of Muirne. An enormous map appears in mid-air.
“This is the Royal Academy of Diavolo, though we just call it RAD.”
While Diavolo speaks, a point in the middle of the map sparkles.
“You’re standing inside the Assembly Hall, the very heart of RAD. This is where we officers of the Student Council hold our meetings and conduct our business. I’m the President of said council.”
And why do demons have academy and student council?
That said, Diavolo and all the men…demons? in the room wear similar uniforms. The others wear black jackets, but Diavolo has a red one. Maybe this is also a symbol of his status.
Diavolo stares at Muirne after he finished speaking. His ambery eyes seem to ask silently, “Aren’t you curious? You are, ain’t you?”.
He looks so childish. The myths and tales try to prove themselves by dragging me here, and now the “cheerful innocent prince” trope is coming true too?
Muirne sighs.
“So, Your Highness, why am I here?”
Before Diavolo could answer, the young male with black hair and light skin seating in the middle of the lower row of the bench stands up and speaks.
“I will explain everything to you.”
Diavolo doesn’t seem to care about being interrupted by him.
“Muirne, allow me to introduce you. This is Lucifer. He is a demon and the Avatar of Pride.”
Lucifer.
Her heart skipped a beat the moment she hears that name.
Could he be the “fallen angel Lucifer”?
“He’s the Vice President of the Student Council and my right-hand man...and not just in title, I assure you. Beyond that, he’s also my most trusted friend.”
Diavolo introduces him with a big smile.
“Flattery will get you nowhere, Diavolo.”
Lucifer replies resignedly and looks back at Muirne.
“Speaking on behalf of the entire student body at this great and storied school of ours, I offer you a most heartfelt welcome, Murine.”
Although he acts like a gentleman, his smile clearly lacks the friendliness in that of Diavolo’s.
“Well received, now answer my question.”
“...Interesting. This one is quite different from Solomon.”
Lucifer doesn’t seem to be offended. Instead, he puts on a bigger smile.
“Since ancient times, demons, humans and angels are opponents. Angels slay demons, demons hunt humans, and humans drift along the vortex struggling to survive. However, Diavolo believes that we demons should start strengthening our relationship with both the Human World and the Celestial Realm.”
So angels and demons both exist. How were they first being created?
And why would someone suddenly want to strengthen relationship with their…food, I suppose?
“As a first step toward this goal, we’ve decided to institute an exchange programme. We’ve sent two of our students to the Human World and two to the Celestial Realm. And we’re welcoming four students to our school: two sent from your world and two sent from the Celestial Realm.”
Sent? The angels may have a single leader to decide that, but who made the decision for the Human World?
“So, I take it you’ve probably put two and two together at this point, right? You’ve been chosen from among the people of the Human World to participate in this programme of ours. You are our newest exchange student.”
By the way, you guys summoned me to your meeting room, and just leave me sleeping on the desk? At least wake me up.
A few demons looking at a human, me, laying on a table. Sounds like I’m a sacrifice.
“Your period of stay is one year. You will have to work on the tasks that you will receive from RAD. After one year, you will write a paper about your exchange here in the Devildom.”
“That’s demonic.”
Bet they know that humans hate homework.
“What do you hope to gain pointing that out to me? I am a demon, after all.”
Lucifer seems to find her words funny.
“Don’t glare at me like that. It’s not like I will abandon you all by yourself here in the Devildom. You need someone to look after you, and I think that someone should be my brother Mammon. He’s the Avatar of Greed and...how should I put it...?”
He suddenly looks fairly annoyed.
“Oh well, you’ll understand soon enough.”
All of a sudden, he vanishes from where he stood and appear right in front of Muirne. She subconsciously takes a step back. Lucifer glares at her but doesn’t explain further.
Teleport? So the map Diavolo just shown is also not a projection but some sort of magic?
Lucifer hands her a device similar to a smartphone.
“Here, take this device. It’s called a D.D.D.. It’s a lot like the smartphones of your world. This will be yours to use for as long as you’re here.”
…So is it magic or technology?
He taps on the Phone icon.
“Now, go ahead and try calling Mammon with it.”
◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇
The ringtone sounded for a while before the phone is picked up.
“Yoooo—“
A frivolous voice comes from the other side of the device. Muirne can’t help frowning.
“Hi.”
“Hm? Ya ain’t Lucifer. Who the hell are ya?”
“Sorry, I’m just a human.”
She hears someone in the Assembly Hall giggling.
“Whaaa? A human?”
Mammon’s resentful tone worsens.
“Geez, ya should’ve told me right away! I was gettin’ all chilly here thinkin’ it was Lucifer again! I should’ve just ignored it…”
Why would he think it was Lucifer? Was this D.D.D. Lucifer’s…?
No, actually, do they identify caller by phone number like how we do in the Human World?
Muirne casts an eye on Lucifer, the latter responses with a mirthless grin.
“So...what business does a human got with THE Mammon?”
“Lucifer said you will be in charge of me from now on.”
“Wha? No way! There’s nothing’ in it for me. Whaddya even mean by ‘being in charge of you’?”
Mammon suddenly pauses.
“AAH! I get it now, yer the other human, the new exchange student!”
Murine thought he’s finally going to say something serious.
“All right. G’luck with that and see ya.”
…My brain hurts.
Lucifer beckons at her.
“Lucifer called for you.”
“Pfft, whatever. Ya think THE Mammon would listen to ya just ‘cause yer tryin’ to scare me with that name?”
Lucifer takes the device.
“You’ve got 10 seconds, 9...8…”
She can almost see Mammon jumping on the other side of the D.D.D..
“YESSIR!”
◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇
Lucifer hands the D.D.D. back to Muirne.
”Great, he should be here soon.”
“…Can I ask for a refund?”
“You mean the D.D.D.?”
“I mean your brother.”
Lucifer laughs like it is none of his business.
“You look even more worried now.”
“Do you expect me to say that he sounds reliable?”
“If you do, you likely have rocks in your head.“
Diavolo, who raises from his seat, attempts to smooth it over and says.
“Well, if you were suddenly brought to a strange place and then get told that an unfamiliar face will now take care of you, you’d certainly feel anxious. However, Mammon isn’t the only one to help you out.”
He looks at the other demons in the room and grins.
“Now then...we still need to introduce our new friend to your brothers, Lucifer. And it’s probably better that you do that instead of me, wouldn’t you say?”
Lucifer crosses his arms over the chest and doesn’t look pleased.
“As much as I dread the idea of doing so, you’re right.”
Muirne looks at the remaining demons on the lower row of the bench.
Actually, she may not need Lucifer or Diavolo to introduce them. She has a good guess of their identities.
Lucifer, the Avatar of Pride.
Mammon, the Avatar of Greed.
These are two of the Seven Deadly Sins in the Catholic doctrine.
Although the Catholic Church doesn’t associate the Seven Deadly Sins with demons, demonology does. If those worshippers are correct…
“Really? You should be honoured that you get to introduce such a sweet and charming little brother like me!”
The demon with champagne pink hair complains with a sweet feminine voice.
“This one here is the fifth-born Asmodeus.”
Lucifer says reluctantly.
“He’s the Avatar of Lust.”
That’s it.
“Wh...I can’t believe you just totally ignored what I said! And not only that, you referred to me as ‘this one’!”
“At least he didn’t ignore you altogether.”
The blonde-haired demon besides Asmodeus looks dissatisfied.
“That one there is Satan, the fourth eldest of us. He may seem like a responsible demon with a good head on his shoulders, but looks can be deceiving.”
Lucifer continues speaking with total disregard of his two brothers' accusations.
“So I’m ‘that one’, am I?”
Satan interrupts Lucifer and says.
“I am Satan, the Avatar of Wrath. Welcome to the Devildom, Muirne.”
Looking at Satan’s perfect fake smile, a question comes up her mind.
“What does it mean by being the Avatar?”
Lucifer raises his eyebrows to this unexpected question.
“It means our characteristics. Takes Satan as an example, he may flash you a pretty smile like that, but you had better be careful because it is all an act.”
“If you continue saying such nonsense, you’ll just scare Muirne.”
The smile on Satan’s face still looks the same, but a dangerous aura seems to form around him.
“Don’t take him too seriously, Muirne. Lucifer enjoys speaking ill of his brothers. He is the Avatar of Pride, after all.”
“But Lucifer’s right. ‘Characteristics’ pretty much sums up what it’s about!”
Asmodeus adds.
“And it affects our power too. Let’s give a little demonstration… Muirne, could you gaze into my eyes for a moment?”
He walks near Muirne. Seeing that she is wary, Asmodeus laughs like a playful kid.
“It’s okay, I won’t hurt you. Don’t be shy! Come on, keep your eyes fixed on mine. Just like that…”
“Asmodeus—“
Lucifer is too late to stop him. Asmodeus’s coral-coloured eyes already starts shining.
“Yes, great! That’s perfect!… Wait a minute…”
Asmodeus looks confused and tilts his head.
“You...? Hmm…”
He paused for so long that even Murine starts to feel weird. Then Satan speaks.
“I should probably warn you, Muirne. You’d best be wary of Asmodeus’s gaze. He can charm and manipulate people and use them to his own advantage. If you’re not careful, he’ll charm you and eat you up.”
“Hey, don’t say it out—”
“Eat me up” as in…?
She doesn’t quite want to know the answer.
“Are you done?”
Lucifer’s patience is running out.
“Now, the one there with the very grumpy look on his face is the sixth-born Beelzebub.”
“Lucifer, I’m hungry.”
“That’s too bad. Now behave yourself.”
The orange-haired demon who is called Beelzebub looks so depressed like a vented ball. He touches his stomach and opens his mouth.
“I’m Beelzebub, the Avatar of Gluttony…”
He is taller and more muscular than Lucifer, but even less fierce than Satan and Asmodeus.
“Nice.”
Lucifer sounds satisfied.
“There are seven of us brothers in all, and I am the eldest. Mammon, the second-born, will be here soon. My other brothers aren’t here at the moment, but...well, we can get to them later. All in good time.”
“During your stay in the Devildom, the seven brothers will lend you their strength.”
Diavolo says.
“To keep you safe, you are to stay with them at the House of Lamentation.”
“To keep me safe?”
The one who explains is Lucifer.
“Most denizens of the Devildom agree with Diavolo, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t vulgar demons out there who wouldn’t harm you. If anything were to happen to you, it would be our responsibility. I won’t betray Diavolo’s expectations, so I will do everything in my power to make sure you survive your stay down here in the Devildom.”
She can tell that walking alone in the Devildom is not much better than in the Human World. But…
“You sound like I WILL die.”
Muirne grumbles.
“Good to hear that you have confidence in protecting yourself in the Devildom. Good luck with that.”
Lucifer says sarcastically and continues.
“The House of Lamentation is where I live with my brothers. It is a rather spacious house, and it was originally a cursed house in the Human World. I assume it won’t be a problem for you, a human, to live there. You’ll get used to it soon.”
…A human gets used to live in a cursed house?
Although Muirne’s rented apartment in the Human World is indeed a cursed house.
It is a nice apartment. If it’s not because of the incident happened there before, its rent would have been doubled or even tripled.
Imagine if it’s not Muirne but another human hearing this, that person will probably be scared to death.
“Although we will all be living together, you should still have the means to reach us at any time. All of our phone numbers are already in there.”
She searches through the contact list in D.D.D. and confirms that.
“D.D.D. also has a messaging app. Make sure to add all of our IDs.”
Is this device driven by magic or electrical power? Maybe they just borrow the design and idea from human, the inner structure could be totally different.
“I’ll go ahead and send you a message!”
Diavolo happily takes out his D.D.D. and starts typing.
“Isn’t that nice, Muirne. Now you will be friends with the future Demon King.”
Satan also says gaily while tapping on his device.
Friends, huh…
Would it be that easy?
◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇
A ringtone interrupts her thoughts. She opens the messaging app and sees a notification from Diavolo.
〔This is my account. Feel free to send me a message at any time.〕
Even the Devildom Prince are used to messaging, huh.
And then Diavolo sends her an angry sticker.
…Or is he?
〔Oh sorry.〕
〔You see, Lucifer is the only demon who sends me messages. So I haven’t gotten used to this yet.〕
That’s sad.
But guess it’s normal. Who would be so carefree to message the Prince…
At least he still has Lucifer. Whilst me…
Muirne is about to reply him while a system message pops up on the screen.
〔Hi there. This is your loyal partner, AI assistant KARASU.〕
〔This seems to be your first time using the Chat app. KARASU recommends you to try the Three-Legged Crow Conglomerate’s most renowned sticker pack!〕
〔Sticker pack downloaded.〕
A set of stickers appears at the bottom of the screen. Looks like Diavolo is also using the same set.
…If you say so.
She hesitates for a while, and taps on the thanks one.
Diavolo then replies with a whoo sticker. He seems pleased.
Ain’t he a kid. Or maybe he’s just pretending to be friendly and easy-going to deceive me.
I wonder how old he is. Maybe demons are born with an adult appearance… He couldn’t be younger than me, could he?
Satan and Asmodeus both just simply send her a half-hearted welcome and flying kiss sticker respectively.
Beelzebub’s message takes some more time to reach her.
〔Can you give me something to eat?〕
What can a human being kidnapped to the Devildom bring with her?
…Oh well, if you count my organs in.
〔Did you not eat today?〕
〔Yes, but Lucifer kept talking and talking and I got hungry again.〕
Beelzebub is the Avatar of Gluttony. Is getting hungry his characteristic then?
The last one is Lucifer. Muirne doesn’t miss out the fact that he types with his index finger.
Are you an elderly or what?
〔I hope you enjoy your one-year stay. You had better not do anything that would cause Diavolo to lose face.〕
〔I haven’t agreed yet.〕
〔Do you have the option to say no?〕
Lucifer smirks and put away his D.D.D..
“Well, you’ve got that done now.”
There seems to be someone running and approaching from a distance.
“And it seems the idiot has arrived as well.”
As soon as Lucifer finished his words, the Assembly Hall’s door is smashed open.
“HEY! Just who do you think you are, human? You’ve got a lotta nerve summoning the Great Mammon!”
A white-haired demon rushes in yelling. He has a slightly darker skintone than Diavolo.
“Listen up, because I’m only gonna say this once. If ya value your life, then you’ll hand over all of your money now! And anything else of value, too!”
Lucifer almost burst into laughters when he looks sideways and sees Muirne’s disgusted expression.
“May I ask for a refund?”
Muirne asks again.
“Unfortunately, no. I would be more than happy to do it myself if it’s possible.”
“Otherwise I’ll wipe that stupid, happy-go-lucky look right off of your face...by eatin’ ya! Startin’ at your head and workin’ my way down, until—”
“Mammon, shut up or I’ll punch you.”
Lucifer says, but his fist is already on the way.
That sounds like a melon cracking apart.
“GAH, OWW! Hey, what’s the big idea?! I thought you were actually gonna give me a chance to shut up before punching me!”
Satan ignores the tragedy happening and approaches Muirne.
“Muirne, Mammon here is the Avatar of Greed. He governs and oversees all forms of it. Whenever he takes a liking to someone, they suddenly find themselves awash in money. But from what I hear, if he decides to break it off with someone, that wealth evaporates. They’re left without a Grimm to their name.”
“And he’s also a masochist. That part’s important.”
Asmodeus adds.
“Noted.”
Said Muirne.
“Indeed. And it just so happens I have a job for my masochist of a brother.”
Said Lucifer.
“Y’all, stop telling lies! I ain’t asked for that punch, and I AIN’T a masochist!”
Lucifer turns a deaf ear to Mammon’s retort.
“Mammon, you are going to be in charge of seeing to this human’s needs during the whole exchange. I expect your full cooperation.”
“What?! Why me?!”
Mammon is obviously unwilling to take the job. Asmodeus says resentfully besides him.
“Aww, lucky you, Mammon! I’m so jealous…”
“All right, then why don’t YOU do it, Asmodeus?!”
“What? Hell no, too lazy.”
“I thought you said you were jealous of me?!”
Satan pats on the fury Mammon’s shoulder, despite looking like he’s ready for some popcorn.
“Just give up, Mammon. There’s no getting out of this. You know you can’t refuse a direct command from Lucifer, correct?”
“But why does it have to be me?! What about Beel? Why can’t he do it?!”
Beel?
“This isn’t a job we can entrust to Beel. We might as well ask him to eat this human. A different kind of ‘eat’ from mine, that is.”
“Mm, yeah. I can’t promise I wouldn’t.”
Ah, short form of Beelzebub.
“You’re useless, you know that?!”
“Mammon?”
“...Wh-What, Lucifer?”
“Surely you’re not going to tell me that you object to this arrangement, are you?”
Woah, his anger is visible.
“…! No…ugh...I hate ya guys! Every last one of ya! Fine...FINE! I’ll do it, ‘kay?!”
How weird.
Usually when there were people yelling and shouting around Muirne, she would have already lost her patience and yelled back.
It would seem like I WANT to hear them speaking. Is it because my curiosity towards demons outclasses my annoyance towards noises?
“All right, human, listen up!”
Mammon angrily shouts.
“As much as I don’t want to look after ya, I’ve got no choice. It’s a huge pain in the ass, and I’m too important for this kind of thing, but Lucifer told me to do it, so I will. But in return, ya better make sure ya don’t cause me any trouble, got it?!”
“No.”
Unfortunately, imperatives do not work on Muirne.
“Heh.”
Satan giggles again. He probably finds it funny that a human takes the upper hand on Mammon.
“Are you deaf, human? Or are you just that much of an idiot?”
Mammon sounds even more irritated.
“Here in the Devildom, Lord Diavolo’s word is LAW, and so is Lucifer’s. And don’t you forget it!”
“I don’t need this guy.”
Muirne turns around and continues to protest.
“There’s no need to push around. If you don’t trust Mammon, just come to any one of us brothers.”
Lucifer doesn't plan to continue on this topic.
“We have decided who will take care of you, so on to the next subject, your tasks.”
“You are avoiding the subject.”
“I thought you will be more interested in your tests than your caregiver.”
“…There will be tests?”
“Good question.”
With a smirk, Lucifer says.
“Your task is to polish up your soul nicely and to acquire the power to resist demons.”
“My soul?”
“Right. Demons like humans with nice souls. Let me put it another way. Nice souls look like shiny jewels. Do you understand now?”
Lucifer opens his palm. A cluster of blue light condenses into a jewel shape on top of his black glove, shining with gorgeous colours.
“Is that one of your soul collections?”
“Haha, not really. This is only an ordinary magic power condense. It’s been long since we last hunt humans, you see.“
You do hunt, huh.
“Demons will use their wisdom and abilities to tempt the humans so they can get their hands on their souls. In fact, other demons at RAD also have tasks assigned to them just like you. In other words, either humans will be tempted by demons, or demons will lose against the shiny and noble soul of a human and make a run for it. You could say it is an experiment to find out who will win.”
“Ain’t I here to exchange cultures and knowledges?”
“Competition brings improvement. Isn't this what you humans like the most?”
“It doesn’t sound fair to me. You demons get my soul if you win, so what if I win?”
“Don't worry, in order to send you back to the Human World safely, we guarantee that your soul will not be taken away even if you lose. But let’s see... If it’s necessary, I will prepare some rewards to make sure you give it your all.”
Lucifer puts the condense in Muirne’s palm. The moment they come into contact, it turns into fog and vanishes.
"...Is this also part of your ways to tempt me?”
“Haha, take it easy. My brothers and I will be on your side. After all, you don’t have any magic in you, unlike the other exchange student from the Human World.”
You should take a look of your brothers' expressions first.
“I wanna make one thin’ clear right now. Don’t blame me if someone gets eaten, ’cause it ain’t my fault.”
Mammon digs his ear and says with a lack of interest.
“Lucifer, I’m hungry.”
Beelzebub touches his grunting stomach.
Asmodeus takes out a mirror from nowhere and is busy tidying up his hair.
Satan is happily reading his book, turning a blind eye on the surrounding.
“…Ahem.”
Lucifer may also have noticed that what he just said has zero credibility at all. He coughed to ease the embarrassment.
“With that, my explanation has come to a close.”
Lucifer nods to Diavolo, who takes over with a serious face.
"Muirne, I know it's a little abrupt for us to bring you to the Devildom like this. But I still hope for your cooperation.”
He looks very earnest.
“Humans, angels, demons… I imagine a universe where each accepts the other, where we are brought together as friends. This is my dream, and I’m asking you to be the foundation for it.”
He walks towards her and holds out his hand.
“One year, that’s what I ask of you.”
The silence lasts for a while. Muirne just stares at Diavolo silently, and he doesn’t urge.
It takes another while before Muirne speaks.
“I’ll be honest. I hate being in teams, and I hate getting close with others.”
She’s always alone.
No one disturbs, and no one is allowed to disturb.
“If you are expecting human sociability, then I’m not who you should be looking for.”
How difficult it is to build a relationship, and how easy it is to break it.
A trap that has caused her countless wounds.
She doesn't like that kind of hypocrisy.
Diavolo seems tensed for a second.
She slightly smiled.
“But well, this place seems quite interesting. At least better than the Human World.”
She takes the prince’s hand.
“I can’t promise to meet your expectations…but I will stay.”
Diavolo smiles joyously.
“Thank you! I look forward to the changes you will bring us!”
“Now then, please sign on this document.”
The paper handed over by Lucifer is inlaid with gold strips, which seems to be very expensive. There are a few lines handwritten neatly on the paper.
【Congratulations!
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to the Royal Academy of Diavolo.
Please return this letter with your sign to confirm your participation.
We are looking forward to welcoming you as part of our new exchange programme.
Yours sincerely,
Diavolo】
Muirne’s lips twitched unconsciously.
You summoned me here directly and made all deicisons without my consent. What's the purpose of giving me a notification letter right now?
Wait, could this be a contract with binding magic?
Lucifer also hands her a quill pen, and adds.
“Oh, I suppose you should have guessed it by now, but once you signed on the letter, you will not be allowed to leave Devildom until the period ends.”
See? …Wait.
“Then what about my study and stuff in the Human World? How should I handle them in this one year?”
She usually lives a routine life with minimum engagement at university, but there are always things like thesis or exams that she can't be absent.
“Oh, that. You need not to worry.”
Diavolo says with a cheerful smile on his face.
“When we are preparing to bring you here, we also applied for a one-year intermission on behalf of you. The approval is just granted.”
Lucifer watches Muirne’s incredulous expression while trying to hold back his laughters.
“Moreover, according to our records, there aren’t many humans who will be concerned of your disappearance. If any, we have ‘specialists’ to deal with them.”
Muirne has lost her words.
“Welcome to the Devildom, Muirne.”
