Chapter Text
There is no home here
In this hard place
This harsh place,
No, there is no home at all.
How could there be a home
When blood spills,
Generous from ragged feet,
Or nails shatter on jagged stone.
How could there be a home
When rock carves cruelly
Into fatigued spines,
Or wind whips at cracked lips.
How could there be a home
When cold sinks deep
Into aching joints
That cease to move.
How could there be a home
When strange men come
And join at your table,
Speaking in tongues.
How could there be a home
When there is no home.
Only fear, discomfort and misery,
Not safety, nor comfort or joy.
