The multiverse, one could compare it to a web. Every thread that this web has is another universe. Everyone knows of Earth-616, the Earth home to heroes such as Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, and so much more. But this Earth is also home to villains such a Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Doctor Doom, Thanos, and many other villains. Earth-616 is the Prime Earth, it is the Earth that all others branch from, and every one of these Earths have their own story, they are similar yet different in many ways. On one Earth, Gwen Stacy was bitten by the spider and became Spider-Gwen and her best friend Peter Parker died. On another Earth, the original X-Men consist of Jean Grey, Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler), Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), Rogue, Evan Daniels (Spyke), and Scott Summers (Cyclops), each of them are teenagers and are being taught by Ororo Monroe (Storm), Logan (Wolverine), Hank McCoy (Beast), and Charles Xavier (Professor X). There is another Earth where Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, and Wasp come together to fight a villain called Gravaton, and where the X-Men are trying to stop a desolated future with the help of Professor X who contacts them from the future. All these Earth branched off of Earth-616, but this isn’t about those Earths or Earth 616, this takes place in another Earth, Earth-1610 also known as the Ultimate Earth, and that’s where the current events take place.

New York City, home to many superheroes but also many supervillains. For the longest time this city has been under the protection of Peter Parker also known as Spider-Man, Peter had given it his all to protect New York, his friends, and his family till his dying day. Sadly, that day arrived, and Peter died while fighting the Green Goblin. Everyone mourned for his death friends, family, and the citizens of New York. For quite a while there was no Spider-Man until Miles Morales who was bitten by a spider enhanced by the OZ serum gained his own spider powers and decided to use them to become the new Spider-Man and protect New York. However, after one year, it was discovered that Peter Parker was indeed alive, no one knew how it happened, they had no explanation. But it wasn’t just Peter who was alive, so was the Green Goblin. Together Miles and Peter fought the Green Goblin and defeated him. Peter decided to try and find out how he is still alive but instead he left with Mary Jane to live a quiet life while giving Miles his blessing to be Spider-Man.

Everyone would think that Peter and Mary Jane would live happily ever after, but that’s not what happened. Peter wasn’t truly happy; he missed his friends and family, and he couldn’t get out of his head on how he is still alive. Peter decided to investigate, he decided to test his blood and snoop around Oscorp to get answers. Mary Jane wasn’t the happiest about this, but Peter had to do it, he had to find out how he is alive. Eventually after going through some files and studying a new sample of blood Peter found out how he is alive. The OZ serum which was used to mutate the spider that bit him and gave him powers had another side effect and that was that it granted the person immortality.

Peter was devastated, he was immortal. Most people would love to be immortal, but he didn’t, he wanted to get married and die with his wife, he wanted to see Uncle Ben and finally meet his parents. He didn’t want to outlive his friends and family; he didn’t want to be alone. With this discovery, Peter fell into a depression, Mary Jane tried to help as much as she could and he appreciated it and he appreciated Aunt May and Gwen trying to help, but there was nothing they could say to cheer him up, if anything their presence made things worse because when he saw them, he would imagine himself kneeling at their gravestones.

When it seemed like nothing was working Aunt May decided that perhaps another face would help bring him back. With that, she told the one person who she believed could help Peter, Kitty Pryde.

When Kitty found out Peter was alive, she was ecstatic but also suspicious, once she voiced it, Aunt May reassured her that it was the real Peter. Kitty decided to believe her but decided to wait and see if the person really was Peter. On their way to see Peter, May explained to Kitty that he found something out devastating and how he fell into depression and how everyone is worried. When she heard this, Kitty herself grew worried, if this was the real Peter Parker, she knew that she had to do everything she could to help him. When they finally arrived at where Peter and MJ were staying at, they entered through the door and there was Peter on the couch head in his hands, Mary Jane sitting next to him trying to get him to open up but failing. They eventually got the two’s attention and when Kitty locked her eyes with his, she knew that this was the real Peter Parker and tears were building up in her eyes, she didn’t know what to say it was Peter who said the first words, “Kitty,” Peter said in surprised.

“Hi Peter,” Kitty whispered

Peter got up from the couch, “What are you doing here,” he asked

“Heard you were in trouble, and I came to help,” Kitty said

It was quiet for a moment and Kitty couldn’t hold herself back any longer, she threw herself in Peter’s arms and hugged him for dear life her tears finally falling. Peter hugged her back, neither caring that they were being watched or the glare that Mary Jane was throwing their way.

Everyone decided to leave the two alone. The two brunettes sat on the couch and enjoyed each other’s company. Peter was feeling much better than he had for the longest time, he truly was happy to see Kitty, she always had a way to make him smile.

After some quiet the two decided to talk and catch up on what the other was doing. It was really Peter asking questions about what she’s been up to and Kitty answering. Finally, it was Kitty’s turn to ask questions, and the first one was obvious.

“Peter how are you alive,” Kitty asked

Peter looked down at his hands, “That’s a long and complicated story,” Peter said

Kitty placed her hand on Peter’s making him look up at her, she smiled a soft and supportive smile, “I have time,” she said

With that Peter told her everything, about waking up in a lab, how he ran into Mary Jane, digging up his coffin only to find it empty, Miles, the Green Goblin, them fighting thereby revealing himself to Aunt May and Gwen, beating the Green Goblin. Him wanting to find out how he’s alive but instead went to try and live a quiet life with Mary Jane. He explained, how he really wasn’t happy because he wasn’t with his friends and family and how the question on how he’s still alive was still there. He explained how he investigated for a while until he found the answer.

“And that is,” Kitty asked

Peter sighed, “The spider that bit me was mutated by a formula called the OZ serum, it was supposed to create the next super soldier. When the spider bit me I had gained spider like powers, what I didn’t know until later was that the formula had another side-affect,” Peter said

“What side-affect,” Kitty asked, scared of the answer.

“Immortality,” Peter said

“Im-immortality,” Kitty repeated surprised.

Peter nodded solemnly, “I can’t die Kitty, someone kills me, and I’ll be revived, I won’t age. I will never die of old age or of being killed. Do you know what that mean,” Peter asked, when he got silence as a response he continued, “Aunt May, Gwen, Mary Jane, Johnny, Bobby, you, everybody, I’ll outlive. I can’t have kids because I’ll only outlive them. I don’t want to outlive everyone Kitty, I don’t want to be alone, and now whenever I see anyone, all I can imagine is me attending their funeral or kneeling at their gravestone. Even now Kitty as I look at you, I’m seeing that,” Peter said grabbing his head and tightly closing his eyes.

Kitty who was crying at this point at hearing the pain in his voice and seeing what this is doing to him grabbed Peter’s hands and pulled them away, “Peter, look at me,” Kitty said but Peter didn’t listen, “Look at me Peter,” Kitty said, her voice firmer, that seemed to have done the trick because Peter did look at her, “Look at me and see me Peter, me right here right now. Listen to me Peter, we’re all going to die, it’s inevitable. We can die at any time Peter, I can die at any time. With the life I live, I can die when I leave here, or tomorrow, or a month from now. We all die Peter, somehow, someway, we all die. You can’t think of what will happen in the future, don’t grieve our deaths now Peter, don’t grieve my death now, because if you’re so busy grieving you’ll miss out on all of the good times we could have, you’ll miss out on all of the memories that we can make,” Kitty said

“I just can’t get it out of my head, it always comes on its own, what am I supposed to do when those images appear,” Peter said

“Replace them with new images. When you see me, think of all of the good times we’ve had together or think of the things you and I can do together. If I remember correctly, someone owes me a movie night, and that someone said that we could watch the Cinderella Story,” Kitty said smirking

“You are obviously not remembering that correctly,” Peter said a smile appearing on his face.

“There’s that smile,” Kitty said smiling softly

“Thanks Kitty really,” Peter said

“I’m happy to help, whenever you need me, all you have to do it call,” Kitty said

Peter nodded, “I’ve decided something,” he said

“What’s that,” Kitty asked

“I won’t grieve your deaths until they happen, I will enjoy the time I have with everyone,” Peter said smiling

“That’s good,” Kitty said

“But I am gonna find a cure,” Peter said

“A-a cure,” Kitty said in surprise, she did not expect that.

Peter nodded, “It’s like I said, I don’t want to outlive you guys, so I’ll look for a cure for the immortality,” he said

“Peter, what if the only way to cure you is to lose your powers. Will you really do that,” Kitty asked, she’s not sure how to feel about that. Peter without having powers, no way to protect himself, scares her.

“If it means losing my powers, then so be it, I’d rather be powerless and live my life and die with you guys than have them and see you all die,” Peter said

Kitty couldn’t help but smile, Peter Parker truly was something else. Despite how morbid it is, it makes her happy and proud that he is willing to give up his powers for them, he is willing to give up immortality for them. He is willing to give it all up just so he can live his life and die alongside them. Yes, Peter Parker is something special, “If that’s your decision, then I will do whatever I can to help,” she said

“Thanks Kitty, really,” Peter said

With that Peter started looking for a cure with Kitty’s help, however Kitty couldn’t always be there to help Peter with his search, she had other commitments but helped whenever she could. First was finding out if it was the serum as a whole that gave immortality or a chemical in it. They discovered that it was a chemical composition that added the immortality, if they could find a way to remove the composition without it affecting the whole formula then Peter would still have his powers and be cured. They researched diligently, experimented countless times, but every time it was a bust. When Peter wasn’t trying to find a cure, he took Kitty’s advice and started to spend time with the people who knew he was alive, Aunt May, Gwen, Mary Jane, Kitty herself, and he even decided to give Miles a call to see how he’s doing, he finally got the story of Miles meeting an alternate dimensional version of him which Peter found crazy, but who was he to say it wasn’t true, Gwen came back from the dead and he’s immortal, for now anyway.

Months would pass and finally Peter gave up on trying to save his powers, Kitty tried to convince him otherwise, but he just didn’t see away on how to save them, so he started looking for a cure to his powers. It would take months of research and alone probably years but with Kitty’s help along with Gwen, he felt that he was on the verge of a cure. Right when he felt he was a few days away from finding a cure, something strange happened. One morning Peter woke up feeling completely refreshed, almost as if he was reborn in a way. After eating breakfast, Peter headed to the lab that he created, today Kitty would be helping him. When he arrived there, he didn’t have to wait long for her. After the pleasantries they went in the lab to get started. As Kitty was taking his blood, Peter noticed how…well he wasn’t sure what to call it, refreshed maybe she looked. When he mentioned this Kitty answered.

“I know, it’s weird, it’s as if I was reborn or something, like I have a new start, and it feels great,” Kitty said

“I know what you mean, I woke up the same way,” Peter said as Kitty patched up his arm.

Thanking her, Peter took the blood and put it on a slide and then put it under the microscope, once he looked Peter expected to see what he always saw, the chemical composition still there, taunting him. That’s why he was surprised when he saw nothing.

“What the hell,” Peter said, getting the attention of Kitty who was reading a science book that she believed could help.

“Peter, what’s wrong,” Kitty asked as she walked over to the former Spider-Man.

“I don’t understand, how is that possible,” Peter said

“How is what possible? Peter answer me, you know I don’t like being ignored,” Kitty said

“It’s not there,” Peter said as he turned to face Kitty with a look of surprise and astonishment, “Kitty, it’s not there.”

“What’s not there,” Kitty asked

“The composition that gives me immortality, it’s not there,” Peter said

“What! No way,” Kitty said in disbelief, she pushed Peter aside to look for herself. Kitty is no whiz in science, but she knows some things and have been expanding on it since she started helping Peter with this. She knows what the composition looks like, she could tell you every chemical that makes it up because she’s seen it so many times. As she looks in the microscope, Kitty doesn’t see the composition anywhere in site, as a matter of fact it seems like a new composition was added. But how was that possible? Kitty took her head off the microscope and looked at Peter, “But, but how,” she asked

“I don’t know,” Peter said

“We need to be sure, get on the chair, I’m taking another sample,” Kitty said

Peter did as he was told and sat on the chair. Kitty did the proper procedure and then took the blood. Once the blood was taken, Kitty patched Peter up again, put the blood on a new slide and they both looked, first Kitty because she had the sample and then Peter and both saw the same thing.

“It isn’t there,” Peter said, he could hardly believe it.

Kitty took Peter by surprise when she tackled him in a hug, “This is incredible Peter, this means you’re not immortal anymore. Now that I think about it, I did find it strange how you looked more older, mature,” Kitty said

“Gee, thanks a lot,” Peter said sarcastically

Kitty giggled, “This is great isn’t it,” she said excitedly

“Yeah, it is,” Peter said smiling

“Why do I hear a but,” Kitty said raising an eyebrow.

“It’s just that. How is it gone? How did this new composition take its place,” Peter asked

“Peter,” Kitty said interrupting his inquiry, “If there is one thing this life taught me, somethings are best left unanswered. Besides, I have a feeling that this is a good thing. So, let’s not question it and enjoy it,” she said smiling.

Seeing Kitty smile, Peter couldn’t help but smile as well, “You’re right, let’s enjoy it,” Peter said

“Great, I’m gonna call the others and we are all gonna celebrate,” Kitty said with that Kitty left the lab to make the calls while Peter watched her from behind smiling.

Kitty had called everyone and made some excuses to get them all to Peter and Mary Jane’s place when they were all together, Peter and Kitty revealed the good news to everyone. Everyone was happy, tears were falling, hugs were exchanged, kisses were given, and congratulations were said. With that out of the way Kitty brought out the snacks that she bought for the party and turned on some music and everyone celebrated the wonderful day. Not everyone was there because only a few knew Peter was alive, but the party was nice and fun. Peter really enjoyed himself.

Weeks passed by and Peter was enjoying his life. He’d go out on his own sometimes and would look around the area thinking what it will be like in 1000 years, he’d then feel happy that he wouldn’t know because he wouldn’t be around that long. He’d spend time with his friends and family, and he was even thinking about finding a job. Peter was much happier.

However, when he was hanging out with Kitty, he actually discovered another odd thing.

Peter and Kitty were in a park sitting on a bench with ice cream in their hands.

“I was talking to Storm, and you were brought up,” Kitty said

“Really,” Peter asked

Kitty nodded, “I ended up mentioning how wonderful it was that the public honored all of your deeds as Spider-Man and how they finally knew the face of their hero,” Kitty said

“That’s sweet,” Peter said teasingly

Kitty lightly punched Peter in the arm, “Don’t let it get to your head Pete,” she said making Peter laugh, “Anyway when I mentioned this, Storm said something that really surprised me.”

“Let me guess, she was secretly in love with me. I knew it,” Peter joked

Kitty grinned, “Not even if your wildest dreams. You’re too much of a dork for her,” she said

“Ouch, right in the ego,” Peter said

Kitty chuckled, she then got serious making Peter serious too, “No, Storm asked what I was talking about,” she said

“What,” Peter asked

“She asked what I was talking about. When I clarified that I was talking about how the public knew you were Spider-Man. Storm told me that the public had no idea that you were Spider-Man. She told me that everyone decided that it was best for the safety of your friends and family that your identity didn’t get out. I argued with her, said how that was impossible, that your identity was revealed when you approached the Green Goblin and his Sinister Six maskless. Storm told me that you had your mask on, it was tattered in the fight but that was it. I couldn’t believe it, so I went to Bobby then Johnny because they were there and they told me the same thing, even said that they made a cover story for your death about you dying during the Goblin’s attack. After I asked them, I went to Aunt May and she said the same thing,” Kitty said

“That doesn’t make sense though,” Peter said

“I know, I don’t understand it either, they even explained that they had someone called Dr. Voodoo erase your identity from the Sinister Six’s minds,” Kitty said

“That’s crazy,” Peter said

“I know it is. I mean, either we’re crazy, or someone changed things,” Kitty said

“Well, we are definitely not crazy, I know how I died, and I died without my mask,” Peter said

Kitty nodded, “So, what do you think we should do,” she asked

Peter sighed, “It’s like you said before, some things are left better unanswered. So far it seems that whatever might have caused this has not had any negative effects. Maybe one day, we’ll look into this if the need arises. Till then, we live our lives,” he said

Kitty nodded, “I suppose that’s best for now,” she said

Peter smiled, “What do you say to some stone skipping, bet I can make my stone skip more that you,” he said

Kitty smiled in response, “You are so on, there is no way you can skip a stone more than me,” she said

With that the two got up from the bench and headed to the pond that was nearby. Peter was confused with the current events, but he wasn’t gonna worry about it. It seemed that whatever is going on, only good things are happening. Peter decided to just take it in stride and enjoy his life.

Peter’s enjoyment would soon dwindle when he found out some shocking news. Miles was gone and no one knows where he is, they weren’t sure if he was dead or not. All everyone knew was that Miles was MIA and with no Miles meant no Spider-Man. It would appear that the villains took notice as well and took advantage of the situation by causing as much trouble as they can. Peter seeing this knew that he had to return to New York, it was hard to convince Mary Jane though.

“No Peter,” Mary Jane said

“But I have to,” Peter said

“What do you hope to accomplish there,” Mary Jane said

“I don’t know, but I can’t just stay here,” Peter said

After days of arguing Peter finally convinced Mary Jane, he then told everyone that knew he was alive what he was doing, and they couldn’t help but smile at that.

‘You really are something else,’ Gwen thought

‘Your uncle would be so proud,’ Aunt May thought

‘Always worrying about everyone else, aren’t you Peter? Doesn’t matter if you’re Spider-Man or Peter Parker, you’ll always be a hero,’ Kitty thought

With that Peter and Mary Jane packed up and headed to New York and that’s where our story officially begins.

Chapter Text

New York, New York, December 4, Monday, 4:00 pm

It has been four months since the return of Peter and Mary Jane, the two have settled in their apartment well enough. But just because they settled in well does not mean everything is going the way they want it.

Parker/Watson apartment, Living Room

Peter and Mary Jane are currently in their apartment together. Many would think that they would be sitting down and cuddling while watching TV or something like that. That however is not the case because at the current moment Peter who is currently wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with khaki-pants is having an argument with his girlfriend who is wearing a scarlet long-sleeved shirt with horizontal crimson stripes going down and blue skinny jeans.

“I DON’T SEE WHY YOU ARE SO AGAINST THIS,” Peter said,

“WHY AM I SO AGAINST IT? IT’S RATHER OBVIOUS, AT LEAST TO EVERYONE BUT YOU APPARENTLY,” Mary Jane said

“THEY NEED SOMEONE OUT THERE TO PROTECT THEM,” Peter said

“THEY DON’T NEED YOU. YOU’RE GONNA GET YOURSELF KILLED, AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME THERE WILL BE NO RESURRECTIONS,” Mary Jane said as she walked to their kitchen with Peter following.

“I AM WILLING TO TAKE THE RISK. I DON’T KNOW WHY YOU CAN’T JUST THINK ABOUT IT,” Peter said

“BECAUSE YOU’LL GET YOURSELF KILLED, THAT’S WHY,” MJ said

“NEW YORK NEEDS A SPIDER-MAN,” Peter said, he and Mary Jane have had this argument for months. Ever since they came back and Peter saw the situation New York was in, instincts that he had laid to rest had woken back up and had been raging through him. Seeing villains, his villains causing trouble didn’t sit right with him. He’d remember when there was a time where he would jump in as Spider-Man and take the villains down. He wanted nothing more than to do just that but then he’d remember that he wasn’t Spider-Man anymore, he was just a civilian like everyone else and he couldn’t do anything. After a month of watching Peter just could not do anything, so he’d secretly go out at night and walk around the streets of New York, keeping an eye open. He’d eventually find trouble, the supervillains weren’t the only ones coming out, it seems that some thugs were getting brave. Peter had stopped a few muggings, murder and rape attempts and he had to admit after his first night back of doing this, he felt good. Of course, it didn’t take long for his friends and family to find out which is when the fighting started between him and Mary Jane.

“YOU ALREADY GO OUT THERE AT NIGHT, DECIDING TO PLAY BATMAN. NOW YOU WANNA GO BACK TO BEING SPIDER-MAN. I DON’T EVEN APPROVE OF YOU GOING OUT AT NIGHT, WHY WOULD I APPROVE THIS,” Mary Jane said

“EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS TO SUPPORT ME, HECK KITTY,” Peter said but was interrupted

“KITTY, OF COURSE KITTY,” Mary Jane said

“AND WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN,” Peter said

“YOU TWO SEEM TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME TOGETHER. I ACTUALLY WONDER WHICH OF US IS YOUR GIRLFRIEND,” Mary Jane said

“HEY, THAT IS NOT FAIR, YOU AND I HAVE SPENT PLENTY OF TIME TOGETHER,” Peter said

“ONLY WHEN SHE AND EVERYONE ELSE IS NOT AROUND, WHEN YOU’RE NOT SPENDING TIME WITH HER, YOU’RE TOO BUSY SPENDING TIME WITH GWEN OR AUNT MAY. IT FRANKLY FEELS LIKE YOU’RE AVOIDING COMING HERE,” Mary Jane said

“GWEN IS MY FRIEND AND AUNT MAY IS FAMILY, OF COURSE I’M GONNA SPEND TIME WITH THEM. AND IT’S NOT LIKE I’M THE ONLY ONE SPENDING TIME OUT OF THIS APARTMENT, I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT WHEN YOU LEAVE, YOU DECIDE TO GO TO SOME CLUB,” Peter said

“I GO TO CLUBS, BECAUSE I FIND THEM FUN AND THE PEOPLE THERE ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO ME,” Mary Jane said

“Yeah, I’m sure all of the guys pay loads of attention to you,” Peter said

“Maybe they do, unlike you, who don’t give me any attention, you’re too busy giving it to Kitty,” MJ said

“This again,” Peter said

“Have you two slept together,” MJ asked

“What! No of course not. I can’t believe you actually asked me that,” Peter said feeling outraged at the accusation.

“I think it’s a reasonable question considering how much time you two spend together,” Mary Jane said

“Way to trust me MJ,” Peter said

“I trusted you not to go out and play hero, but you didn’t do that, so I’d say I’m justified,” Mary Jane said

“What about you and that Liam, every time you spend time with him and come back you seem way to happy, what let him put his thing between your legs,” Peter said

“HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT,” MJ said

“WHY, YOU JUST ACCUSED ME OF IT,” Peter said

“I’M HAPPY BECAUSE I WAS WITH SOMEONE WHO WOULD PAY ATTENTION TO ME, UNLIKE YOU. DAMMIT,” Mary Jane said as she walked out of the kitchen with Peter following.

“I PAY ATTENTION TO YOU,” Peter said

“NO, YOU DON’T, I’M SICK OF THIS PETER, I’M SICK OF US NOT SPENDING TIME TOGETHER, I’M SICK OF YOU SPENDING TIME WITH KITTY, I’M SICK OF YOU GOING OUT EVERY NIGHT, AND I AM SICK OF YOU,” Mary Jane said

“What are you saying,” Peter asks, having a feeling he knows where this is going.

“I’M SAYING WE’RE DONE. THERE IS NO US, I DON’T EVEN THINK THERE WAS AN US FOR A LONG TIME. GATHER YOUR THINGS AND GET OUT,” Mary Jane said

Peter stood there looking at her for a moment, he then left to their room and gathered his belongings, once that was done, he headed for the door and opened it, but before he left, he looked back at Mary Jane with sadness and regret, “I’m sorry it had to be this way,” he said softly.

“GET OUT,” Mary Jane said

Seeing the reaction Peter left the apartment, leaving Mary Jane alone.

New York, 4:30 pm

Peter was walking on the sidewalk of New York with his hood up, that was not how he imagined their discussion going. He’s not even sure how it went from him being Spider-Man to them practically accusing each other of cheating. Peter sighed, he knew that some things that Mary Jane said was true, such as him avoiding their apartment, he just didn’t know that she noticed. He couldn’t help but avoid it, for the longest time they were just going through the motions. Every time he was there, they went through the motions, and he hated it. So yeah, he did try to stay away as much as he could, was it wrong, yes it was but he didn’t think she would care considering she was always going out clubbing. All Peter wanted was to have a calm talk with Mary Jane about him being Spider-Man, but he couldn’t get that and now his head is too jumbled to even think straight. He really needs to talk to someone and there is only one person he can think of. With that thought Peter headed in the direction of Westchester County.

X-Mansion, Kitty’s room

A 19-year-old Kitty Pryde who was wearing a white t-shirt with the Mid-Town Tiger on it and black pants was lying on her bed watching the news on TV.

“At 3:00 this afternoon a bank robbery has occurred at City National Bank, the culprit being none other than R.H.I.N.O., police had arrived on the scene and tried to apprehend the villain,” the news anchor woman said as it showed a video of the police shooting at R.H.I.N.O. but the bullets bouncing off.

“RAAHHHHH, that all you got,” R.H.I.N.O. said as he charged the police and started fighting them.

“Due to the timely intervention of Spider-Woman, R.H.I.N.O. was indeed apprehended and is on his way to the RAFT, 3 NYPD police officers died, 5 critically wounded, and the rest with only mild injuries. It is times like these that this news anchor reporter has to ask, where is Spider-Man,” the anchor woman said

Kitty mutes the TV and sighs, “Shit,” she said

“It is a good question,” a familiar voice said startling Kitty, she quickly looks up and sees Peter Parker, sitting on her windowsill, “Hey,” Peter waved

“Peter,” Kitty said as she shot out of bed and rushed to her window, “What are you doing here,” she asked ushering him in, closing the window and her shades to make sure no one could see them due to everyone excluding a few believing him to be dead.

“I wanted to see you, is that so wrong,” Peter said

“No, but you could have called at least, we could have met somewhere. People could have been here Pete, if you want everyone to think you’re dead, you need to be more careful,” Kitty said reprimanding Peter

“I know, I’m sorry, I just…had to talk to someone and you’re the only person who I think understands,” Peter said

Kitty couldn’t help but feel concerned when she heard this, “What’s wrong,” Kitty asked as she placed her hand on Peter’s shoulder.

Peter sighed and sat down on the bed with Kitty doing the same, “Mary Jane and I fought today,” he said

“Again,” Kitty asked, she was aware of the fights that the couple had been having. After every fight Peter always called her because he needed someone to vent to and she was always willing to listen. When Peter nodded, she had to ask, “Was it about the usual subject?”

Peter nodded, “Yeah…sigh…ever since I started going out at night, she’s always been on my case about it. It’s only been getting worse since she found out I’ve been thinking about going back to Spider-Man. I wish she would see things my way you know, it’s just frustrating,” he said

Kitty wrapped an arm around Peter knowing that he needed some comfort. Peter automatically leaned onto her, Kitty’s presence calming him down, “I’m sure everything will turn out alright. You and Mary Jane will make up like you always do,” Kitty said trying to be comforting.

“No, we won’t, not this time,” Peter said getting Kitty’s attention.

“What do you mean,” Kitty asked as she looked at Peter.

“sigh…Mary Jane and I broke up,” Peter said

“What! You broke up,” Kitty said in shock, “Why? Because of this fight? You two have had this fight before and have always made up. What’s changed?”

“I don’t know, it started out with me mentioning me becoming Spider-Man, like always she started getting defensive and kept telling me no. Of course, I’m not gonna take no for an answer and I try to convince her otherwise,” Peter said

Kitty nods, that sounds like Peter when he sets his mind to something, he won’t let it go, it’s one of the things that she’s always loved about him.

“Suddenly we’re yelling at each other, and honestly, I don’t even know how this happened but somehow, we went from me being Spider-Man to our relationship. She’s then accusing me of cheating on her,” Peter said

“WHAT, but how could she? I mean why? You’d never do that,” Kitty said, she wasn’t even sure what to say, she was outraged. How could Mary Jane accuse Peter of cheating on her. Peter is one of the most loyal and trustworthy people Kitty knows. He would never cheat on anyone. She means sure he technically cheated on her, but she isn't gonna hold that against him. They were kids and Peter was really conflicted with his feelings. He was around Mary Jane like 24/7 while Kitty could only see him a few times a week, sometimes less because of her X-Men duties. Not that, that's an excuse for cheating, but then again Kitty also remembers that she kissed Bobby while he was dating Rogue. Sure, he initiated it, but she still returned it, and Rogue was pissed. She and Peter both did stupid things, but they both know better now, which is why she knows that Peter would never have cheated on Mary Jane, it's just ludicrous.

“I don’t know, I was trying to give an example on people who were helping me with this decision, and I brought you up,” Peter said

“You brought me up,” Kitty asked

Peter nodded, “You were a good example, you’ve been helping me with this ever since I started thinking about it. Anyway, I brought you up and I guess that was the wrong choice,” Peter said

“Why,” Kitty asked

 “She ended up mentioning how we’re spending so much time together, that she was wondering which one of you was my girlfriend,” Peter said

“What,” Kitty said annoyed, seriously, she and Peter don’t spend that much time together, maybe when she’s free. But what’s wrong with that? She has missions with the X-Men and she has to protect New York as Shroud.

Peter nodded, “She went on telling me, that when I’m not spending time with you, I’m spending time with Aunt May and Gwen. She accused me of avoiding the apartment,” Peter said

“Were you,” Kitty asked raising an eyebrow.

Peter sighed, “Maybe, it’s just for the longest time it felt that Mary Jane and I were going through the motions and I was just sick of it you know. I had no idea she even noticed considering she’s always out clubbing. Heck, I even mentioned her clubbing during our argument,” Peter said

“How’d she take that,” Kitty asked

“She said that she goes clubbing, because the people there pay attention to her unlike me, who’s too busy giving my attention to you,” Peter said

“You have got to be kidding me, she acts like we spend every day together. So, what else did she say,” Kitty said annoyed.

Peter hesitated; he wasn’t sure how Kitty would respond to what MJ accused them of doing. Well, he had an idea, but no matter how angry and frustrated Peter is with Mary Jane, he doesn’t want to see her get hurt and Kitty just may hurt her.

Kitty noticed Peter’s hesitation, “Peter, what did she say,” Kitty asked, when she didn’t get an answer, she decided to ask again, “Peter, what did she say to you,” Kitty asked/demanded

Peter gulped and decided to look up, “She asked, if we slept together,” he answered

There was a minute of silence and Peter was worried about that, he knew he shouldn’t look down, but he had to be sure Kitty was ok. He looked down and Peter was right, he shouldn’t have looked down because what he saw was a furious Kitty Pryde, she looked ready to hunt and kill her prey very slowly.

“WHAT,” Kitty yelled furiously, she had never been so furious in her entire life. The fact that she was just accused of sleeping with Peter behind Mary Jane’s back pissed her off. Did that redheaded bitch really think so lowly of her that she’d think Kitty would do that?! She would never do that, EVER. Kitty quickly stood up, “I’m gonna kill that bitch,” Kitty said as she walked toward her bedroom door, ready to hunt Mary Jane and show her just how much of a good trainer Logan was.

Peter seeing what Kitty is about to do, quickly got up, wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and lifted her up from the ground, “Kitty no,” he said

“Let me go Peter, I swear I’ll kill her,” Kitty said struggling in Peter’s arms, if she were thinking more clearly, she would have just phased through Peter or increased her density to break his hold, but lucky for Peter Kitty hasn’t thought of those things.

“You need to calm down Kitty,” Peter said

“Like hell…after what she…just accused us of…I don’t see…why you’re…not mad,” Kitty said between struggles.

“I am mad, heck I’m furious but just because I’m angry doesn’t mean, I want to hurt her. What would that accomplish,” Peter asked

“It certainly…would…make me…feel…better,” Kitty said still struggling in Peter’s hold, she forgot how strong her was.

“Kitty, you can’t go attacking Mary Jane, you’re an X-Man, a mutant, and a public figure, you’re pretty much the face of all mutantkind. How would it look if the public saw you attacking a civilian. The consequences wouldn’t be good Kitty,” Peter said

“UUHHH, I hate it when you’re right,” Kitty said ceasing her struggle, calming down.

“Really? I love it,” Peter said

“Can you let me down now,” Kitty asked

“That all depends,” Peter said

“On,” Kitty asked

“You’re not gonna make a break for it if I let you down will you,” Peter asked

Kitty rolled her eyes, “No, I will not go after Marry Jane,” she said

Hearing this Peter let Kitty down. When she was finally on the ground Kitty increased her density and elbowed Peter in the stomach.

“Oof, hey, what was that for,” Peter said rubbing his stomach.

“For talking sense into me,” Kitty said

“Well think of it as payback for all of the times you talked sense into me,” Peter said giving Kitty a smirk.

Kitty couldn’t help but smirk back at that, “So, now that my rampage is over you want to continue the story,” she asked as she went back to her bed and sat down.

Peter sat down next to Kitty, “Well after all of that, I accused her of cheating on me with that Liam guy she hangs around with,” Peter said

“You accused her of cheating on you,” Kitty asked surprised, she never thought Peter would accuse anyone of cheating, then again Kitty can probably see why. Frankly, Mary Jane just seemed a little too happy after her time with Liam, not to mention the flush on her face.

“I pretty much asked if she let him put his thing between her legs,” Peter said

Kitty’s eyes widened at that. She could not believe Peter would say that to anybody. Mary Jane must have really pissed him off if he were to say that to her, “I’m guessing she didn’t take that lightly,” Kitty said

“No, no she didn’t. Ended up yelling at me of how I could accuse her of something like that. Honestly, a part of me was always suspicious with the two of them. When Mary Jane met back up with Liam again, I was happy she was catching up with someone familiar, even if it was an ex-boyfriend, I trusted her not to do anything, and she even assured me nothing would happen, but you know, there were these moments, it wasn’t anything big, just these touches they had, it seemed too intimate to be friendly, then there was when she’d come home happier than usual, and with a flushed face. I just had a feeling, but I didn’t have any proof, a part of me thought that I was looking too much into it,” Peter said

“Believe me Peter, you weren’t, Gwen and I, we had our suspicions as well,” Kitty confessed

Peter nodded, “It’s like I said, I didn’t have any proof I still don’t have proof and she pretty much denied it when I accused her. So, either she was so angry and didn’t want to turn into the bad guy of the argument or she never did anything. It doesn’t matter though, because after that, she broke it off,” he said depressed.

Kitty hugged Peter, “I’m sorry Peter. I’m sorry this happened to you,” she said

“I’m sorry it happened too. Despite everything, I wish we could have at least broken up and stayed friends. Maybe, it was my fault, I mean I was avoiding the apartment,” Peter said

“Maybe,” Kitty said, she knew that Peter shouldn’t have tried to avoid the apartment like he did. It was wrong but, “Mary Jane could have said something to you about it, but she didn’t. You’re not solely to blame Peter and if she did cheat on you with Liam because of that. It is no excuse, and she doesn’t deserve you,” Kitty said

Peter gave a solemn smile, “Thanks Kitty…sigh…but now I have nowhere to go. Mary Jane kicked me out,” he said

“Couldn’t you stay with Aunt May,” Kitty asked

“I thought about it, but I’m not sure it’s such a good idea, what if someone were to see me, then people would start asking a lot of questions and there would be a lot of explaining to do to a lot of people,” Peter said

Kitty nodded at that; she could see that Peter was in quite a situation. She unconsciously looked at the clock and saw that it was five, a smile appeared on her face, “Hey,” Kitty said bumping shoulders with Peter getting his attention, “What do you say that we go out and get something to eat, then we can discuss more about your situation,” Kitty offered

Peter sighed and smiled at her, “I guess I am hungry,” he said

“Great, grab your hat and let’s go. You can leave your bag here for now. We’ll get it later,” Kitty said, when she got up, she held her hand out to Peter who took it with a smile.

“How are we gonna leave with people downstairs,” Peter asked as he put a New York Mets hat on.

Kitty smirked, “The same way you entered. The window,” she said with that Kitty pulled Peter to her window, “You ready?”

“Ready for what,” Peter asked

“You’ll see, just no matter what you do, don’t let go of my hand,” Kitty said, with that she activated her powers and she and Peter floated through the window.

Outside

“WOOHOO,” Kitty said as they floated in the sky, she’ll always love this.

“WHOA,” Peter said, flailing a bit.

“Hang on Peter and quit flailing. You realize if I let go, you’ll fall right,” Kitty said as they traveled.

“Sorry, but you took me by surprise,” Peter said as they floated a few miles from the Xavier Institute.

Kitty made sure to land them in an alleyway, where no one could see them.

Peter sighed in relief at being on the ground again which Kitty took note of, “How long has it been since you went web-swinging,” she asked

Peter looked at her and then thought for a moment, “I’d say, I haven’t gone swinging since I gave up being Spider-Man,” Peter said

“Seriously,” Kitty asked as they exited the alleyway, “How in the world were you able to get through Oscorp without web-swinging?”

Peter shrugged, “I still have superhuman agility. So, where to,” he said as they walked.

“Hm, how about Chinese,” Kitty said

“Sure, sounds good,” Peter said

“Shanghai 21,” Kitty questioned

“Definitely,” Peter said

Shanghai 21

Peter and Kitty were sitting at a table in the back of the restaurant, both were eating their food, Peter was having some compound chicken while Kitty had fried rice and egg rolls.

“So, hang on a second, you’re saying that Miles actually asked you whether you were from a parallel dimension,” Kitty asked

“Yeah, apparently another version of me got stuck here and they ran into each other. Miles thought he was some imposter, attacked him, and knocked him out with his venom blasts,” Peter said

“Ouch, yeah, those venom blasts look like they hurt,” Kitty said as she took a bite of her egg roll.

Peter nodded, “They ended up working together and Miles told me that he learned a lot from my counterpart,” Peter said

“Cool,” Kitty said

Peter’s face then grew a deadpan look, “Then he made a side comment of unlike me who he learned nothing from,” Peter said

At that Kitty burst out laughing, “Hahahahahahahaha,” Kitty laughed

“Oh, haha, yeah very funny,” Peter said with an annoyed look.

“I’m…sorry…it’s just…I was just imaging your face when he said that,” Kitty said laughing between words, she then took a drink of her Coke, “Hm, how old was this alternate version of you anyway?”

“Miles said that he had to be in his mid-twenties,” Peter said

“Wish I was there,” Kitty said

“Why, hoping that you might wanna pull some moves on him,” Peter said smirking teasingly.

Kitty smirked back, “Maybe, after all, my moves worked on you,” she said her voice laced in flirtation.

Peter blushed at that comment and decided to hide it with his drink, “Can’t really argue there,” he whispered as he took a drink of his Sprite.

Kitty heard what Peter said and giggled, she saw the blush and thought it was cute.

After he took his drink Peter grew serious which Kitty took notice of, “So, I know I ask you this a lot, but I have to ask. Have you found any trace of Miles and his family,” Peter asked

Kitty sighed, “No, we haven’t, we tried scanning for his mind with Cerebro but got nothing. Those who are willing to help and are more free have searched all around, cities, states, and countries. Yet still nothing, it’s like he’s dropped off the face of the Earth,” she said

Peter sighed, “And the criminals of New York certainly took notice of his absence,” Peter said

“Yeah, crime rate’s gone up 20%. I swear if I’m not being an X-Man, I’m punching in my hours as Shroud,” Kitty said

“It really puts things in perspective,” Peter said

“Hm,” Kitty hummed looking at Peter questioningly

“At least for me it does…sigh…despite everything that I’ve done for the city as Spider-Man, I always thought that compared to other heroes, I didn’t make much of a difference. I always thought that if Spider-Man would disappear then nothing would change,” Peter said

“Are you serious? Peter the day you died was the day everything changed, for everyone and I’m not just talking about Spider-Man dying, I’m talking about you Peter Parker,” Kitty said getting a surprised look from Peter.

“Spider-Man knew how to connect to the younger crowd; I should know when I first saw you I was truly amazed with how you were. Spider-Man inspired people to help others whether young or old. And while it’s true many people in New York hated Spider-Man, despite all of the grief those spider-haters gave you, while others would have quit, you still continued helping people and that is what the other New Yorkers respected about you. When Spider-Man died you could see the difference, some New Yorkers seemed to have lost their inspiration. I’d see some looking at old news articles of Spider-Man helping people, others looked at the banners with longing or inspiration, I’ve even heard people telling stories about Spider-Man helping people and they weren’t just talking about the big things but also the little thing, like when he helped get a cat out of the tree or walked a little old lady across the street,” Kitty said

“When you, Peter Parker died, it was terrible. Aunt May, it was as if she had forgotten how to smile. Johnny was sad and always seemed to have tears rolling down his face, Bobby was angry because he felt he didn’t do enough, Mary Jane was heartbroken, Jessica was on instant guilt mode believing she should have been there, Gwen, I don’t think she knew how to react…and me,” Kitty said growing more solemn, “I was sad, I cried, I then grew angry and went out in the city as Shroud to take out my anger on the criminals but as I worked off the anger, I just went right back to being sad. It took a long time for us to move on but don’t be thinking just because we moved on doesn’t mean our lives were the same, because when you died there was a space in each of our lives that was empty, a space that no one else could fill.”

“Not even Miles,” Peter said jokingly

“No,” Kitty said firmly taking Peter by surprise again, “No one could fill the spot you left Peter, not in Gwen’s life, Johnny’s life, Bobby’s life, Aunt May’s life…my life,” Kitty said the last part softly, “No one could ever take the spot you had in my life Peter that’s why I was so happy when Aunt May brought me to your apartment and I saw you. When I saw you, it was as if that empty space once again had been filled. I had felt a happiness that I hadn’t felt in so long when I saw you that day Peter. You did make a difference both as Spider-Man and as Peter Parker and you still make a difference.”

“You…really think so,” Peter asked

“I don’t think Peter, I know,” Kitty said smiling.

Peter smiled back, he then gained a thoughtful look on his face, “Do you think I could be Spider-Man again,” he asked

“Of course you can, after all who better to fill the role than the original,” Kitty said encouragingly

“What if I mess up though? What if I make a mistake and what about the consequences that follow it,” Peter said  

“Then you’ll have family and friends to help you. You won’t be alone in this Peter, when you need help, we’ll be there to help you,” Kitty said

“Will they help? I mean won’t they all be angry,” Peter asked

Kitty knowing that Peter is referring to those who think he’s dead replies, “I’m not gonna lie Peter, they’ll be angry, heck after everything sunk in, I was angry,” Kitty said

“Yeah, you were, and you certainly let me know it,” Peter said remembering a couple of days after he and Kitty met up again when she came over to help with his research, the furious look she had and the fact that it was directed at him, he knew he was in trouble. Peter shivered; he forgot how terrifying Kitty could be when pissed off. Didn’t he make a pact with himself to never piss her off after his first experience?

“You let everyone believe that you were dead for a long time and as you allowed us to believe you were dead, you were out living happily ever after with Mary Jane,” Kitty said, you can hear a hint of annoyance in her voice as she talked. “These are things that entered my mind after our meeting and that was only the beginning and believe me Peter these will be things that will enter their minds and many more and as they think about it, they will get angrier and angrier. They’ll yell at you, scream at you, call you a bunch of names, make many accusations, you may even wind up getting hit,” Kitty said making Peter wince and unconsciously rubbing his left cheek remembering Kitty punching him with her increased strength. Kitty smiled at Peter’s action, she still believes he deserved that punch even today and most likely the future. “But in the end, they will get over the anger and will be happy to have you back Peter just like I was happy to have you back.”

Peter couldn’t help but smile, “How is it that you always know what to say,” Peter said

“It’s a gift,” Kitty said shrugging making Peter laugh.

Peter sighed, “I become Spider-Man again and start fighting crime, everyone will know that I’m alive. That’s not exactly how I like to imagine my return,” Peter said

“To be honest, it’s probably the quickest way to do it. Then again, the quickest isn’t always the best,” Kitty said as she imagined their friends finding out Peter is alive, furious because they found out that he was alive through the news.

“Not to mention, what would my excuse be when I comeback from the dead as Peter Parker? How would I explain that,” Peter asked

“Hm,” Kitty said as she took a drink of her Coke, that was a good question. How would they explain where Peter has been all of these years? “I think step one is to figure out where you’re gonna stay, step two would be to reveal yourself to the others, so they don’t find out through the media, we’ll discuss steps three and onward after we deal with one and two.”

“Ok well I’m all ears,” Peter said

Kitty gained a thoughtful look, “I think I may know of a place where you can stay,” she said

“Really, where,” Peter asked surprised

Kitty smiled, “I’ll show you once we’re done eating, for now let’s talk about your costume,” she said

“What about my costume,” Peter asked

“Red and blue is over with Peter, we’re giving you a new look,” Kitty said

“What,” Peter asked as he looked stunned at a firm Kitty Pryde.

1 hour later, Manhattan, Upper Eastside

“So, where are you taking me Kitty,” Peter asked, it was 6:30 and Kitty was leading him to what is supposed to be his new living area.

“Your new home,” Kitty said as they turned left, “Well, unless you decide to find somewhere else, till then this will be your home,” she said as they stopped at an abandoned apartment building.

“I remember this building, it was abandoned by the owner because of a fight that the Ultimates had near here,” Peter said

Kitty frowned at the mention of the Ultimates, which Peter couldn’t help but notice. Kitty quickly shook the frown off and smiled again, “Come on, it looks better on the inside than the outside,” Kitty said as she led Peter in the building.

As they entered the building, Peter looked around the lobby and noticed that it was all dusty, and dirty. As Kitty continued to lead Peter along the hallway, he noticed that it too was dirty, “Um, Kitty no offence but didn’t you say that the inside looked better than the outside,” Peter asked

“I guess I misspoke, all of that you see right now is just for show, trust me this building is more stable than it looks,” Kitty said as they stopped at the elevator. Peter looked at Kitty questioningly, all she did was smile then she lifted up the panel that the buttons were on, and underneath was another button. Kitty pressed the button and the elevator opened much to Peter’s surprise. Kitty stepped in the elevator, Peter automatically following her, questions starting to appear in his head. As they entered the elevator, the doors closed, and the elevator moved up. Kitty who is waiting is silence is taking great enjoyment in Peter’s surprise, ‘I bet he didn’t expect this,’ she thought

8^th Floor

The elevator opened and Kitty exited along with Peter, at one glance Peter saw that the hallway was just like the others, dusty, dirty, and broken but now Peter is starting to wonder if that really is the case up here.

“Come on,” Kitty said as she led Peter through the hallway, as they walked Kitty was paying attention to the room numbers, 801, 802, 803, 804, 805, 806, 807, 808, 809, and finally 810, “Here we are,” Kitty stopped in front of the door.

“Where’s here,” Peter asked stopping next to Kitty.

Kitty smirked at Peter, she then took out a pair of keys from her pocket and entered one of them in the keyhole and unlocked the door. Kitty then turned to face Peter, “Welcome Mr. Parker to Shay Kittay,” Kitty said playfully as she opened the door for Peter to look inside and when he did his eyes widened in surprise.

Room 810

Peter and Kitty entered the apartment and Peter looked around in surprise, they were currently in a living room, the floor was carpeted red, there was a leather couch that seats four people, a small oak table on each side of the couch with a lamp on them, there is an oak coffee table five feet in front of the couch, against the wall in front of the coffee table is a TV on an entertainment center, there is a DVD player in one of the shelves, below the DVD player there is a drawer that holds all kinds of DVDs, there was a round dining table in the corner of the living room next to a window. Not to faraway from the couch is a kitchenette that has silver tiled floors, tiled countertops, oak cabinets that hold food, spices, and dishes, a stove, microwave, a double sink along with other kitchen appliances.

Kitty walked forward as Peter decided to look around, “This apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room and a supply closet for cleaning supplies, it also has cable, air conditioning, heating, hot water. Essentially everything that one would need for living,” she said as she watched Peter in amusement.

Snapping out of his stunned state, Peter turned to face Kitty, “H-how did you set this up and why do you have this in the first place,” he asked

“I know people who set this up, I helped to, only as much as my skills allowed me. This is actually a safehouse,” Kitty said

“Why do you have a safehouse,” Peter asked

Kitty frowned, “Because for a time the government once thought that mutants were a threat. Because of that I was hunted and became a fugitive. I had nowhere to go, always moving from one place to another, at least until Utopia but that didn’t last long,” Kitty said as she thought back to her time as a fugitive, she then thought of her time as president of Utopia and how she had to step down so she could fight in the war that Jean declared on Utopia. Kitty still hasn’t forgiven Jean for what she did, to this day things are tense between them. Shaking out of her anger for Jean, Kitty decided to continue to explain, “I may be Miss America now, but you never know when the government will turn around and decide that mutants are threats that need to be handled. If that day were to ever arrive, I’d like to at least have a place to go to. Not to mention, it’s a great place to be alone when I need it.”

Peter nodded at Kitty’s explanation, he wishes that he could argue against it, but he knows he can’t because quite honestly he wouldn’t be surprised if the government turned on mutants again, heck he honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they turned on superpowered beings in general. “I’m sorry I couldn’t help you back then Kitty,” Peter said as he looked at her.

“Hey, don’t apologize,” Kitty said as she walked up to Peter and grabbed his hands, “There’s nothing you could have done. I’m glad you didn’t help because if you did then the government would have gone after you to and you had Aunt May to worry about.”

“But you’re one of my best friends and the fact that I couldn’t help you-,” Peter said but was shushed by Kitty who put her finger to his mouth.

“Let’s not talk about this, what happened, happened. Everything is better now, as I said this place is just in case. Anyhow, what do you think,” Kitty said

Peter, knowing when he is beat decided to move on and answer Kitty’s question, “I think it’s great. Are you sure you’re ok with me staying here,” Peter said

Kitty nodded, “Definitely, truth be told, I rarely use this place, the only time I really come here is to clean it,” she said

“Thanks Kitty, this…really means a lot,” Peter said

“Hey, no problem,” Kitty said as she placed a hand on Peter’s shoulder, “Whenever you need me, I’ll always be there.”

Peter smiled down at Kitty as he looked in her beautiful eyes, she truly was an amazing person, he was really happy to have her in his life.

Kitty herself couldn’t help but stare into Peter’s eyes, finding herself just getting lost in them. She really missed Peter, when he died it had crushed her to the point where it felt she could not be put together again. Sure, she told Peter that they all moved on but that was a lie. Everyone else may have moved on but the truth was that she never moved on. She couldn’t even if she tried, she wouldn’t have been able to. The role Peter played in her life was too big. Seeing Peter alive had to have been the happiest day of her life.

Unconsciously Peter placed his hands on Kitty’s sides and ran them down to her waist making a pleasurable shiver run down her spine.

In response Kitty placed her hand on his chest, so many emotions running through her, all fighting for dominance.

As Peter was about to continue, a chance look at the clock nearby showed that it was 7:00, “It’s 7:00,” Peter said in surprise breaking Kitty from her trance.

“Heh,” Kitty said as she stepped back from Peter much to her disappointment, a glance at the clock showed that yes it was seven, “Oh yeah, it is.”

“How’d it become seven so fast,” Peter asked

“Well other than us talking, you took your sweet time looking around,” Kitty said playfully

Peter blushed a little, “Well yeah, I guess. I mean, I was surprised, can you blame me,” he said

“No, I guess not,” Kitty said

“7:00 is normally when I start patrolling,” Peter said

“Really,” Kitty asked intrigued

“Yeah, it is,” Peter said

“Could you, use some company,” Kitty asked

Peter looked at Kitty for a moment and smiled, “Sure, you got a costume,” Peter asked

Kitty smirked, “This is my safehouse Peter. What kind of safehouse would it be if I didn’t have a few costumes lying around,” she said with that Kitty headed to the hallway followed by a curious Peter. They stopped at the first door to the left, Kitty opened the door and Peter was able to get a peak in her room, it was quite a spacious room, had red barn-colored walls, a tan carpeted floor, a double bed, with blue covers, beige pillows, he could see a computer desk but that was it.

Kitty stepped in her room and turned her head to look at Peter, “No peaking now Mr. Parker,” she teased making Peter blush at the thought of a naked Kitty. Kitty giggled at the blush and closed the door.

Peter stood outside the door for a minute until he snapped out of it and walked to the door next to Kitty’s, “Is this the bedroom,” Peter asked, he opened the door and saw another spacious bedroom, it was decorated pretty much the same way but much plainer looking than Kitty’s. Peter threw his suitcase on the bed and opened it, he took his clothes and belongings out of it until he reached the bottom and found his clothes, A black long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, a black hat, and a domino mask. Peter quickly puts the clothes on and exits the room and to the living room. It was a minute later that Peter heard a door open, he turns around only to find a Kitty in her Shroud costume standing there. Peter is still stunned whenever he sees Kitty in this costume, he never had that long to get accustomed to it, but he does have to admit it definitely compliments her figure.

Behind her mask Kitty looks at Peter’s clothes with an unimpressed look, “Really Peter? Really,” she asks as she crosses her arms showing how unimpressed she is with his patrol gear.

“Hey, you’re wearing a red robe and a faceless mask. I really wouldn’t be talking,” Peter shot back.

“Yeah, but you look like a thug about ready to mug someone,” Shroud said as she headed toward the window and opened it.

“You look like someone, I’d see in Batman,” Peter said

“Well at least everyone knows Batman is a hero. I don’t remember any heroes looking like a thug,” Shroud said, before Peter could retort she decreased her density and floated out the window.

“Wha, hey, get back here. I haven’t given my retort,” Peter said as he jumped out the window and followed Shroud.

Outside

Peter was jumping from one building to the other, “Hey get back here,” Peter said as he followed a floating Shroud.

Shroud turns around as she’s flying and looks a Peter, “Come on Mr. Thug, that all you got,” Shroud teased

“Is that a challenge,” Peter said

“No, a challenge is when both sides have a chance at winning. You on the other hand have no chance,” Shroud said as she turned back around, and Peter can imagine the smile gracing her face beneath her mask.

“Oh, it’s on,” Peter said with that he upped the speed and started to make bigger jumps while adding a few stunts like he did as Spider-Man and soon he found himself catching up.

Shroud looked back and found Peter catching up quickly, “WHOA,” she said

“I’m gonna get ya,” Peter said

“NOT LIKELY,” Shroud said

The two continued their race until they caught sight of their first crime of the night.

Stopping at a building the teenagers look in an alleyway and sees a woman cutting through only to be stopped by two shady looking men. Seeing the men, the woman turns back around only to find two more.

“Well, well, what do we have here, a young lady walking the streets of New York all by her lonesome. You know you should be careful, a lot of shady characters come out at night,” one man said as he and his pal stalked toward the woman who backed away.

“Stay back, I’ve got a taser,” the woman warned

The four men laughed at that and took out their guns to show to the woman who looked at them in fear, “Nice try lady,” the man said

“What, what do you want,” the woman asked

“What I want is to get down on your knees,” the man said

“I’d rather you spread your legs,” the other man said

The woman was truly fearful now, she wasn’t gonna get mugged, these men were gonna rape her, she backed up against a wall. She then looked toward the men who were stalking towards her. This was it, this was her reality, these men were gonna violate her, she was gonna get raped and there was nothing she could do. Tears started to roll down her eyes at the thought of what was gonna happen to her. The four men saw the tears and couldn’t help but laugh. This was always the best part. “Don’t worry baby, I’ll make sure you’ll have a good time. Before you know it, you’ll beg me for more,” the man said

“Now something tells me that’s a lie,” the voice of Shroud comes from behind them. The five people look to see Shroud and Peter standing at the entrance of the alley. “I highly doubt you could give her the fraction of pleasure that she couldn’t give herself,” Shroud then turned to Peter, “What do you think?”

“I think the tough, aggressive, and scary attitudes are just them compensating for something,” Peter answered

“That something being small right,” Shroud said

“Oh definitely,” Peter said

The four growled at the insults that were thrown at them, “You think that you’re cute don’t you,” the man asked

Shroud put her hand on her hip, “Bitch we’re adorable. Well, I am,” Shroud said, she then gestured towards Peter, “He’s just plain cute.”

“Should I be flattered of insulted,” Peter asked

“Take it what you will,” Shroud said

Peter was about to say something when his spider-sense went off, “Phase,” he said

Kitty did exactly that and phased just as the man shot at her, the bullet phased right through her. The other man tries to shoot Peter, but he was able to jump out of the way. The two then join in but it doesn’t work, the would be rapists tried to shoot the duo, however Peter and Should evade the bullets, Shroud by phasing through every shot and Peter using his enhanced reflexes to dodge every bullet fired at him. Shroud approaches the man shooting at her, the man runs out of bullets and goes to reload, but Shroud swipes the gun from him and using her increased density, she crushes the gun between her hands. The man looks on in shock at the strength. Shroud then punches the man in the face, a crack is heard, something just broke, the man is then sent flying and hitting the wall behind him. Shroud then jumped and made her density lighter making her float. Once she is above the other thug, she increases her density and she drops down fast on him breaking some ribs and making him cry out in pain until he lost consciousness, “Scum bag,” Shroud said

While that was going on the other two men kept trying to shoot Peter but because of his enhanced speed, reflexes, and flexibility, Peter was able to dodge every bullet. Grabbing a nearby trashcan lid, Peter Jump in the air one more time, he then throws the lid at the thug deeper in the alley hitting him in the head, knocking him out, “Captain America would be proud,” Peter said, Kitty heard the comment and couldn’t help but frown at it, he fists clench a little. Peter then lands right in front of the final man, the man points his gun at Peter’s head, but the former Spider-Man pushes the gun up in the air three shots going off. As Peter stands there with the guy, he gains a thoughtful look, “You know I always wondered something,” Peter said

“What’s that,” Shroud asked as she helped the woman.

“You remember when you made me binge watch the Dragon Ball series with you,” Peter asked

“Don’t you dare pretend that you did not like watching that series. You enjoyed it,” Shroud shot back

“Whatever you say,” Peter said rolling his eyes a gesture in which Shroud returns, “Anyway you know how in that one fight that Goku had in the second tournament against Ponput, when he beat Ponput with one hit, and then that other fight between Goten and that nasty kid in DBZ,” Peter said

“Ok first off, we just may have to revisit the Dragon Ball series if you don’t remember that Goku didn’t beat Ponput with one hit but with four elbows to the stomach. And second, yeah what about it,” Shroud said

“Well, it got me wondering, how strong do you need to hit in order to knock someone out, I mean I have superstrength, I can knock this guy out no problem,” Peter said motioning to the guy in front of him who was looking at the two heroes confused. Were they really talking about anime? “Exactly how strong would I have to punch him in the gut, to knock him out, like Goku did with Ponput?”

“Again, it was four elbows to the abdomen not one hit,” Shroud corrected as she walked up to Peter and the man.

“Are you seriously…,” the man asked but was interrupted.

“Hush, I’m talking,” Shroud interrupted, “I think it was more of a pain tolerance thing, like when Goku took out Ponput with those four elbows and Goten took out that kid with that one punch, I mean those two had to have been feeling a lot of pain by those hits. I think that they were just in so much pain that their minds couldn’t comprehend them, and they were knocked out. Hm how hard do you have to hit to get the same result? That’s a good question. Let’s try it,” Shroud offered

“Or, or we don’t, and I just sit in the corner quietly and wait for the cops,” the man said nervously, he’s seen the Dragon Ball series too and knows what they are talking about with those fights. He doesn’t want to end up like Ponput and that ugly kid.

“Oh, come on man, let me punch you this one time, I promise it will all be over in a second,” Peter said

“Let him do it,” Shroud said as she rests her elbow on the man’s shoulder, “Listen, I haven’t patrolled with this guy in years, I would really like you see him hit someone.” The man turns his head and looks at the woman pleading with her to help him, he’s scared. Shroud sees the man looking at the woman, “Hey, hey,” Shroud said making the man look at her, “You can’t ask her for help, you just tried to rape her. If anything, she’ll just wind up telling us to hit you more than once.”

“Please,” the man said in a small and quivering voice.

“Ah, hell,” Peter said as he let the man go, “If there are two things that I can’t stand it’s when girls and grown men cry. When a girl cries, it always makes you feel like a piece of crap, like you are the lowest scum on the Earth. When a grown man cries, well it is just so pathetic that you can’t help but feel bad that you reduced him to it. I can’t in good conscience do that to you,” Peter said making the man relax and sigh in relief, “Then again, you did try to rape this girl,” Peter quipped, he then threw a quick and strong punch to the man’s stomach making the man gasp and bend over in pain, the man then fell face first on the ground. Shroud bent down next to the man and checked his pulse.

“He’s still alive, knocked out, but still alive,” Shroud reported

“Cool, now all I need is the ability to fly and a cool transformation and I’ll be all set,” Peter said, he then saluted the woman and then jumped up the fire escape heading to the roof, being followed by Shroud who floated in the air toward the rooftop.

Once they were on the rooftop Shroud spoke, “I can help on both of those departments, of course if you want to fly then you’ll need to hold on to me,” Shroud said

“And where’s the downside to that,” Peter asked smirking

Shroud smirked under her mask, “I guess there isn’t a downside. However, the second, transformation, well it’s not the kind that you have in mind, but don’t worry we’ll start that soon,” Shroud said

“Um, no,” Peter said as he then started running.

“Hey, get back here I’m not done,” Shroud said as she chased Peter down, “We still have a lot of things to talk about, like color scheme!”

“Why can’t I just stick with the red and blue,” Peter asked

“I told you red and blue is over, if you’re gonna be Spider-Man again you need a new look,” Shroud said

“I like my old look,” Peter said

Shroud decided to cheat and decreased her density to the point that she could float on air. Pushing off the ground Shroud quickly caught up to Peter much to his surprise, “You need an update,” Shroud said as she passed him, “Try and catch me slowpoke,” she called out as she deactivated her powers and started running.

Peter smirked and moved quickly.

It had been five minutes since the last time Peter spoke and Kitty was having so much fun having their little chase, “Come on slowpoke, that all you got,” she said, when Kitty didn’t get a reply back she grew curious and turned around only to find that Peter wasn’t behind her. She immediately stopped noticing this, “Peter? Pete, where’s you go,” she asked hoping to get an answer but got nothing. Kitty wasn’t sure what to make of this, Peter wasn’t here which could mean multiple things, 1. He could have found a crime being committed and Peter being Peter jumped in to stop it, if that’s so then Kitty is so kicking herself when she gets home; 2. This could be a joke, if so then she’s gonna kill him, too bad he’s no longer immortal; then there is 3. Peter was taken by a supervillain and is in trouble, now Kitty knows that that is ridiculous because everyone believes that both Peter and Spider-Man are dead and the few who know are good people, well almost all of them, excluding one redhead.

Before Kitty can think of any other alternatives on where Peter could have gone to, she didn’t notice a figure flying towards her from behind until it was too late and she was grabbed, “AHHHHH,” she yelled, the person who had Kitty landed on the side of a building sticking to it and then jumped to the roof of another building while doing a summersault in the air and landed on the building.

Finally, Shroud snapped out of her stupor and was ready to beat-up the guy who would dare ambush her while she was about to look for her friend only to find that it wasn’t an enemy that ambushed her, it was, “PETER,” Shroud said

“That’s my name,” Peter said as he put Shroud down on the ground.

So, it appears to Kitty that it was number two all along which means she’s gonna kill him. Too bad, he never got to restart his Spider-Man career. “Peter Parker, how dare you scare me like that. You nearly gave me a heart attack you jerk,” Shroud said as she walked up to him angry.

Despite having an angry Kitty in his face who looks even more intimidating in her Shroud gear, Peter still couldn’t help but smile and chuckle.

“It’s not funny,” Kitty said annoyed

“I’m sorry Kitty but come on, it is a little funny besides last time I checked you loved it when I did arial tricks, you always found them fun,” Peter said

“Yeah, well that’s when I’m aware of when we were gonna do them. When I don’t know, it’s just plain scary,” Kitty said as she turned her back toward him.

“Hey,” Peter said as he walked up to Kitty, “I’m sorry, I thought it would be funny,” he apologized

Kitty kept her back to Peter, but she was hiding a smile under her mask from him, she wasn’t that angry or that scared in fact take away the surprise of being jumped and it was actually pretty fun. But Peter didn’t need to know that let’s make him squirm a little longer, either that or wait till he offers something worthwhile.

“Come on Kitty,” Peter said only to get a real annoyed look from the said girl, well an annoyed gesture which was her hand on her hip and a tilt of her head, “Shroud,” Peter remembered, “Looks like it will take a while till I really get back in the swing of things.” Peter, noticing he was still getting the look from Kitty knew he had to do something to appease her. He looked in his head and so far, he could only think of one thing, he doesn’t want to do it but if it will bring him back in Kitty’s good graces he will. With that Peter sighed and made his offer, “I’ll watch the Cinderella Story with you,” Peter offered

Hearing the offer Kitty couldn’t help but smile, that was a deal worth taking. With that Shroud turned around to face Peter, “Deal,” she said

“You weren’t really angry with me were you,” Peter said

“Nope, but I’ve been wanting to watch the Cinderella Story with you since you came back. And now I got you,” Kitty said

Peter smiled softly, even though he couldn’t see it, he could just picture Kitty’s smile behind her mask, “Yeah you got me,” Peter said

“This Saturday, we’ll do it, we can also take that time to talk everything over,” Kitty said

“I’m looking forward to it,” Peter said smiling.

“So am I,” Kitty said smiling under her mask. “Come on the night is still young and there are still a bunch of badies to beat-up.”

“What are we waiting for? Let’s go,” Peter said, with that the two patrolled New York together. That night they proved that no matter how long it’s been, they still make a great team.

Chapter Text

Chapter 3: Movie Night

Saturday, December 9, 6:59 a.m., Apartment 810

Peter is lying in his bed sleeping having a nice dream, the clock next to him turned from 6:59 am to 7:00 am, once it changed to seven a loud beeping comes from the clock waking up Peter who groans and turns off the alarm. Peter sit’s up, gets out of bed, and stretches a bit, after doing that, he heads to the bathroom to take a shower. Once he enters the bathroom Peter sees a jurne onyx pearl polished porcelain floor tiles, the walls are light blue, there is a toilet next to the door, there is a walk-in shower, a sink with a cabinet above it, next to the sink is his toothbrush, toothpaste, and brush. Peter starts up his shower, strips down and enters the shower, after ten minutes, he turns off the shower, gets out, dries off, and heads back to his room to change. After Peter changes into a red T-shirt and blue jeans, he takes a minute to look around his room.

His room, just his, well it’s technically Kitty’s but until he can find a place to stay then this is his room. It has been five days since his fight with Mary Jane, five days since they broke up and he was kicked out. Five days since Kitty had let him stay here for free, that is really cool of her. Peter will admit to being sad about what happened between him and Mary Jane, not the breakup. Peter honestly saw the break-up coming a long time ago. No, what saddens him is because he lost someone who was once his best friend, all because neither of them trusted each other. Sighing, Peter walks out of his room and heads to the kitchenette in the living room. After making himself a bowl of cereal Peter heads to the couch, sits down, and turns on the TV with the remote. The channel is where it always is nowadays, the news. Peter wants to be up to date on everything that has been happening, that way when he returns, he won’t be out of the loop.

Right now, from what he sees the Ultimates are fighting some creature, probably some lab experiment made by some wacko, Peter has some experience with that. He sees Iron Man blast the creature with repulsor blasts only to get knocked away by its claws, he sees Giant-Man grow and punch it, Wasp is stinging it with her wasp stings, he then sees a shield hit the creature on the head, knocking it back. The shield ricochets back to its owner who happens to be none other Captain America. Peter can’t help but frown, when he reveals himself to be alive then word will get out to the Ultimates, in other words Captain America, and Peter can just see a confrontation happening. He can’t help but think that they will try and force him to train with the super soldier, Peter didn’t even want to be trained the first time. He was fine on his own, but then Captain America and Carol Danvers came and told him that he was in over his head, that he had to stop being Spider-Man, that is if he wants to continue being Spider-Man then he would have to learn under Captain America, and if he refused then he would be arrested for vigilantism. Thing is Peter could tell that the soldier didn’t like that, he didn’t want to teach him, he’d rather just force Peter to quit and be done with it, and it showed. The guy was very discouraging and tried to change Peter, tried to make him think of himself as a soldier. But Peter isn’t a soldier and has no interest in becoming one. What Peter want to do right now, is become Spider-Man and follow his own path of a hero, not Captain America’s. Yeah, that won’t go down well, he certainly better have something to back him up, because if he doesn’t, he’ll be going to jail. Peter sighed; he wonders what Kitty is up to right now.

Xavier Institute

Kitty is walking through the hallway of the institute; she is wearing the second version of her gold and black costume (It’s the one that is similar to 616 Kitty’s Shadowcat costume). She is making a new costume and is only wearing this until it is done. Why is Kitty wearing her costume, well that’s simple, she’s heading to the Danger Room for team training, like she does every morning. It’s only been a few months since Storm had reformed the X-Men and asked Kitty to join. At first Kitty was reluctant, she had just quit the Young Ultimates, which Jessica wasn’t the happiest about. She really wanted the team to work after they all decided to stay together after their time apart. That caused a fallout between Kitty and Jessica, much to Kitty’s sadness. Kitty wasn’t sure she wanted to commit to another team. Storm had told her the team lineup was herself, Bobby, Piotr, if Kitty joined then her, and the final member was a person who Kitty had no desire to ever see again. It was the final member that made her reluctance turned into a flat out no when she found out that Jean was gonna be part of the team. After everything the woman did, how could Storm even think that Kitty would join, how could she think that Kitty would trust Jean. But Storm, when she wants to be, she can be very convincing and somehow Kitty wound up saying yes and found herself moving out of her single bedroom apartment (After some time living at home with her mother, Kitty decided that she did want her own place.), and into the rebuilt, and relocated mansion. Ever since the X-Men was reformed, Storm made sure to put them through some vigorous team training. Kitty honestly doesn’t need training, she hasn’t exactly been sitting still since she left Xavier’s, but she supposes some team training was in order. It has been a long time since any of them have fought alongside each other, and Storm wanted to make sure that when they fought then they would in cohesion, just like they did years ago.

That is easier said than done though, let’s just say, that it is a good thing that the X-Men haven’t run into threats on the level that they used to, because if they did. Well, they’d be dead right now. So far, the only missions that she has ever had as an X-Man is recruiting mutant children to the school, she does most of her fighting as Shroud. Frankly, she feels that she does better as Shroud, but that isn’t enough to make Kitty quit, she respects Ororo’s ambition, and thinks that it could work if done right. Kitty sighed, she can’t wait to be done with this, the sooner she’s done with this, the sooner she gets to that movie night that she and Peter are having. Hey, she gets to watch a movie with the person who she considers her best friend, and she’s excited, give her a break. She can’t wait to talk about his costume, he’s being stubborn, but Kitty has some good designs in mind that she thinks that he’ll like.

Kitty then walked down the stairs of the institute, once she is downstairs, Kitty heads to the kitchen only to see Bobby, and Ororo getting the food ready for the students. “Kitty, just in time. Please help us with the food,” Ororo asked, she has long hair what reaches to her shoulders and is in a classic bob haircut.

“Sure Ororo,” Kitty said as she went to get some of the plates to serve to the students.

“I don’t get it, why are we serving them food,” Bobby complained

“Because we currently have no staff to do so. Once we get more staff, then we won’t have to worry,” Ororo said as the three left the kitchen and to the dining hall to serve the food.

“Be thankful that we only have ten students right now. Remember when this place was packed,” Kitty asked

“Yeah, I do,” Ororo said sadly as she remembered when the halls of the Institute were bustling with children, hanging out, goofing around, learning, etcetera. That all changed after Magneto’s attack, or the Ultimatum as people like to call it. So many people died that day, students, X-Men, friends, family, citizens, and other heroes. The Ultimatum, one of the many reasons why the government believed that mutants were a threat and did what they did. Ororo then looked beside her and saw her old friend Kitty. She was one of the key factors, probably the biggest reason why mutants aren’t being hunted the way they used too. In her short life Kitty had done an incredible number of things that truly impressed Ororo. The girl is practically, no, she is the face of mutant kind, she is in her words Miss America. Ororo has to admit, other than Kitty’s impressive skills, and the fact that she was a student at Xavier’s herself and is familiar with the members on the team. One of the reasons why Ororo asked Kitty to join was because of the positive standing that the girl has with the public. If it was shown that Kitty was part of the X-Men, perhaps they will be more well received than last time. Ororo hasn’t chosen a second in command yet, and no one has said anything, but she knows that she’ll have to choose, and so far, Kitty is her first choice.

Bobby seeing the sad look on Ororo’s face decided to add something positive, “You know when I lived with Peter, Aunt May had us make our own breakfast. She would make dinner, but breakfast and lunch were all on us,” Bobby said as he remembered when he stayed with Peter so many years ago. The thought of his late friend brought Bobby’s mood down, “Those were some fun times that we had together. How me, he, and Johnny would hangout, play some games, pull pranks, I don’t know how Aunt May dealt with us. But those were good times, really good times,” Bobby said, he then sighed, “What I wouldn’t do to go back in time and relive them. What I wouldn’t do to go back in time and help more,” Bobby said, depressed as he remembered the times that he spent with Peter and Johnny, and then the day where Peter someone who he considered his best friend, his brother, died. That day Peter showed everyone just what he could do when he stopped holding back, that day, he fought and defeated the Sinister Six all by himself, and he was wounded by a bullet wound and bleeding out. That day, Peter showed just why he was the best of them, that day though was also the day where Peter had his final showdown with the Green Goblin, and they killed each other, at least for a while any way. Bobby doesn’t know how, but somehow the Green Goblin is back from the grave and ever since then he has gloated about him killing the original Spider-Man. Honestly, Bobby has had half a mind of doing what Kitty does and become a street hero all so he could take Osborn down himself and honor Peter’s memory by avenging him. He swears one more taunt by the bastard and he’ll do it, and he’s sure he wouldn’t be alone. Bobby is sure that Johnny and Kitty would love to join him, especially Kitty, he knows how she felt, how she feels about Peter, even after they broke up, even after he died Kitty still loves him, and would do anything to honor his memory, he has no doubt that if able, she’d kill Goblin herself.

Kitty saw the way how both Bobby and Ororo got depressed, and she couldn’t help but get depressed to. She lost people during Magneto’s attack, Kurt, Logan. Logan, she and he were close when she was part of the school, even when she left, they were still close. Logan was like a father to Kitty; she misses him every day. She also remembers hearing about Peter’s death, and how that had shattered her in a million pieces. She loved him, she still loves him, and knowing the boy that she loved died truly was the worst day, and the worst pain that she had ever felt in her life. As time went on, everyone had moved on, and then Miles came in the picture. But Kitty she couldn’t move on, she was unable to, sure she put on a brave face, and she tried everything she could to not think about it, about him. But in the end, he always came to her mind, and all she wanted to do then was cry at how she lost him. Sometimes she did give into her feelings and cried her eyes out for hours as she remembered the good times they had. As she remembered when she discovered that she had loved him.

Kitty remembered when she and Peter first started dating, she couldn’t believe that she was dating Spider-Man, her hero, her idol. But as time went on, she saw more than Spider-Man, she saw Peter Parker, and soon she really didn’t care that he wore the mask, that he could fight, that he was a hero, she didn’t care that he was Spider-Man. All she cared about, all she loved was Peter Parker, that is who she wanted, who she needed. She wonders if she told him her feelings would they have stayed together? Would she have been the one living the quiet life with him? She could see them living a quiet life, just enjoying the time they have with one another. Although she knows that right now that Peter has no interest in living a quiet life, he wants to be Spider-Man again, and she wants to help him. Is she scared, sure she is, especially with Captain America, the Ultimates, and the Green Goblin out there. They are the reason why Peter died, but mostly Captain America. She knows the truth; she knows what Captain America and S.H.I.E.L.D. made Peter do. If they had left him alone, if Captain America had taken responsibility for his own screwups and not used Peter as a scapegoat, then none of this would have happened. Peter wouldn’t have died, he would still be Spider-Man swinging around the city, beating up bad guys, all the while spitting out quips. And maybe, just maybe, she and he could have gotten back together, Kitty isn’t sure how realistic that is, it may simply be a fantasy like the one she had at the one-year anniversary of Peter’s “death”. But still it is a nice fantasy, one that she certainly would love to come true. Could they happen again, with Mary Jane gone, could she and Peter get back together and live happily? That sounds nice, but maybe she should wait to do something, see if there are any remnant feelings for her, genuine feelings for her. She doesn’t want to be some rebound girl, if she and Peter ever do get back together then she wants it all to be genuine. Kitty can’t help but remember what happened five days ago, when she let Peter stay at her apartment, they almost kissed. But was that kiss genuine, or was Peter still so hurt that he needed some form of comfort, and she was just there? Bad thing is that she would have done it too, kiss him. Oh, how she has dreamt of kissing him again for years, to have him wrap his arms around her and for their lips to press together and the sparks between them, like fireworks, and something more to happen like in her naughtier dreams. But was that almost kiss just because he was vulnerable and he just needed someone, or was he gonna kiss her because he still had feelings for her? If they do get together then both their feelings must be genuine, if they’re not, then there is no point in doing it.

When Kitty, Ororo, and Bobby got to the dining hall and served the food, Kitty couldn’t help but look at them, soon. Soon they will know the truth, soon they will know that Peter is alive, within the next couple of days, she is sure of it, and she knows that they will all be hurt and angry, not just at Peter but at her as well. Because she let them all think that their friend was dead, and while they all thought that he was dead, she was spending time with him. She knows what will go through each of their minds, she just hopes that she is prepared for what they will say.

After they served the food, the three X-Men went and got their own food to eat. Once they got their food and sat at the dining table, they all started to eat, and were later joined by Jean and Piotr. After breakfast Storm went to drop off all the kids at school. Because they were so severely understaffed and they couldn't take in as many kids as they used to, Storm decided that it was best that the institute would just be used for mutant education, and they would leave the academics to Midtown High School. At least until the Institute is officially back on its feet which might not happen for months, maybe even years.

Once Storm left, the four other X-Men went to the training room to wait for their leader so they could begin training. They had to wait twenty minutes until Storm entered the Danger Room. “Bout time, what took you so long,” Bobby asked

“It’s called traffic Bobby. You’d know about it, if you learned to drive,” Storm replied

“Why do I need to learn when I have the best transportation around,” Iceman said

“Best transportation? I nearly fell off that slide so many times that I lost count,” Kitty said

“You should have held onto me. Not my fault you were trying to be miss independent,” Iceman replied

Kitty snorted, “You would have loved that, wouldn’t you,” Kitty said

“Considering we were dating at the time. Yeah, I would,” Iceman said

“Alright you two, what do you say we start the training before this turns into Kitty sending Bobby to the infirmary,” Ororo interrupted smiling.

“She wouldn’t be able to…,” Iceman said, he then looked at Kitty who gave him a predatory grin that she inherited from Logan, “You know what? I take that back; she would be able to. Shutting up now.”

“Alright training will be level 3 like last time, hopefully we’ll do better than last time,” Storm said as she remembered their last session.

“We weren’t that bad,” Iceman said

Storm raised an eyebrow at him, “In the past the X-Men used to be able to do level 6-10 in the danger room. Two days ago, we barely made it through level three in one piece,” she said

“The X-Men weren’t the team they were when they first started you know. It took time for them to get to that level, we’ll get there eventually,” Kitty said

Ororo nodded, she knew that Kitty was right. All they had to do was train together and they would become a team again.

“We’ll do our best Storm, I can promise you that,” Jean said getting a nod from Colossus.

Storm nodded, “Ok, SIMULATION BEGIN,” she said, with that traps were all activated, and the X-Men moved to start their training and hopefully become the team they once were.

Peter’s Apartment

Peter was in the kitchenette looking at the coverts to see if there were any snacks for tonight, he went grocery shopping the day after he moved in because there wasn’t much here. But he only really got food that he could make meals and such. He kind of skipped out on the snack department, it looks like he will have to go out grocery shopping today. Peter then decided to check the fridge, yep, no soda either, he should probably get some Coke and Spite, he knows how much Kitty loves Sprite. Really in another world she probably would have used that as her hero name. Peter couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought of Kitty using a soda pop as her hero name. That really is funny.

With that in mind Peter went over to a notepad and wrote down what he needed, something that he got from Aunt May is that when you realize that you don’t have something write it on the list so you can go and get it. Peter then looked up in thought, he should probably get some Cheese Puffs too, those are Kitty’s favorite snack. Peter couldn’t help but think back to when he first saw her eat Cheese Puffs, all the cheese dust on her fingers and mouth. She was so embarrassed, but he honestly thought that she was cute and simply kissed her. She definitely tasted like Cheese Puffs that day. Peter smiled softly at the memory, those were good days when he and Kitty dated, he really did enjoy himself, and to this day, he calls himself an idiot for screwing that up. Things between him and Kitty are good, great even, he can honestly say that she is his best friend. But the truth is MJ really wasn’t that far off, and she really did have a right to worry when it came to Kitty, because the truth was that Peter preferred Kitty’s company over Mary Jane’s. He preferred it, because the truth was that Peter loved Kitty. Peter loved Kitty; he really hates what it took for him to realize his feelings for the brunette girl. It took them breaking up for him to realize that he loved her, and that he wanted to be with her. But by that time, he knew it was too late. Kitty had a lot more self-respect than to take Peter back once he discovered his mistake, and Peter wouldn’t insult Kitty by asking for another chance and expecting it. She’d probably punch him if he did, and he has no doubt that he would deserve it. It really is true in what they say, you really don’t know what you have until you lost it. He didn’t know how much of a wonderful girl he had in Kitty until he lost her.

Peter sighed; he does wonder if it would be possible for something to happen again. Could they get back together? Peter then remembered the kiss he and Kitty almost had. He sighed, would that really be such a good idea, them getting back together? He isn’t so sure, he likes to think that he would make her happy. Maybe, it wouldn’t be, Kitty, she deserves better than him, him who hurt her. Kitty deserves someone who wouldn’t be such an idiot. He will not insult her and ask for another chance. He’ll just have to settle for being the best friend, he’s ok with that though. As long as he can have Kitty in his life then he is ok with that. But if ever given the chance to be with her, then Peter would take it, and he swears that he would do everything in his power to make her happy. Peter looks at the clock and sees that it’s 11:30, “Maybe I should head out and get those groceries,” Peter said, with that Peter gathered up his wallet and stuffed it in his pocket. Peter then walked to his door and exited the apartment, heading to the grocery store.

Outside

Peter is walking on the sidewalk with people passing by him, none of them even realizing that someone who is supposedly dead is walking among them. Though he supposes that’s fair, he was only sixteen and had shorter hair when he first died. He will never get used to saying that. When he first died, he’s thankful for the second chance at life, but he is also thankful that he is no longer immortal, he can spend the rest of his days with his friends and family. Peter then grabs one of his bangs framing his face. He likes how his hair is now, how his bangs frame his face, his hair isn’t overly long like when he first got his haircut. It’s actually the same style that he had when he met Miles, he decided to maintain the style, thought it made him look more mature. He certainly thinks that he looks better than he did with that haircut that Kitty, Gwen, and MJ gave him. If there is one thing Peter knows, Kitty and Gwen are not touching his hair. MJ is gone so he doesn’t have to worry about her. Peter walked for another ten minutes until he found the grocery store, Peter looked up at the sign and saw Manhattan Groceries. Turning forward, Peter entered the store.

Xavier Institute, Danger Room

Lasers are being fired at Kitty, but she rolls under them and runs to one of the laser guns. Kitty jumped towards the lasers and used her powers to make herself lighter than air so that she travels faster and farther. When she got close enough Kitty switched from being lighter than air to more durable and then used the superstrength she gains from her durability to punch and destroy the laser. Suddenly a wall rose from the floor and tried to crush her, but Kitty rolled out of the way just in time.

Manhattan Groceries

Peter is walking through the grocery store pushing a cart, he is looking at all the aisles trying to find the snacks section. Finally, Peter sees the above sign that says snacks, seeing that Peter turns to the aisle and walks down, looking for the snack food for his movie night with Kitty.

Xavier Institute

Iceman

Iceman in his ice form was sliding around the room dodging lasers as best as he could, just then, a wall opened and spinning saws came out trying to cut him in half, “WHOA,” Iceman said, the only thing he could do is make a weak ice shield which stopped the saw temporarily. Using the time wisely, Iceman made a new ice slide to slide away, and just in time as the ice shield broke and the saw came through. “Ok, time for some payback,” he said, Iceman then turned around and headed toward the saw, he then blasted the saw with his ice, freezing the saw to the point where it stopped spinning. Iceman then made an ice sword and used it to slice the saw off of the wall, dropping it to the ground. “Alright.”

“Bobby look out,” came the voice of Storm getting Iceman’s attention only to see three lasers heading his way, but before they could hit, a small tornado was made blocking the lasers and protecting Iceman.

“Whew, thanks Storm,” Iceman said as he looked up at their leader.

“It’s what teammates are for Bobby,” Storm said, she then summoned lightning and destroyed three lasers that came from the ground. “Go help Jean, I’ll assist Kitty,” Storm orders

“Yes ma’am,” Iceman said as he slid away to his red-haired teammate.

Storm then flew away to assist Kitty. 

Colossus

Piotr was running dodging lasers that were being fired, he jumped in the air and punched one wall laser destroying it. When he landed, Colossus was bathed in flames that came from a flamethrower that was behind him. His metal armor protecting him, Colossus ran to the flamethrower, and gave it a hard punch, breaking it. He then used his superhuman strength to pull the machine from the ground and throw it at an incoming saw, destroying both.

Manhattan Groceries

Peter was in the soda aisle of the store looking at all the soda. There were Pepsi products, Coke products, etcetera. The soda was in cans, bottles, and liters. Finally, Peter found a twelve pack of Sprite, he looked at the label and saw that there was a two for one deal. “Awesome,” Peter said, he then picked up one twelve pack of Sprite, and one twelve pack of Coke. With that Peter continues with his shopping.

Xavier Institute

Jean-X

Jean-X is floating in the air dodging multiple lasers, after she dodged them, Jean-X crushed the two ground lasers that fired with her telekinesis, a spinning saw then came from the wall and headed towards the psychic, however she saw it just in time and sent a telekinetic blast breaking it off of the wall. Two flamethrowers then appeared from the ceiling and fired at Jean-X taking the mutant by surprise. However, before the fire could hit, a sheet of ice appeared above Jean-X, blocking the flames. Seeing the ice, Jean-X knew that it had to be one mutant that saved her. Turning her head, Jean-X saw Iceman sliding toward her, “Thanks,” she said

“Anything for a pretty lady,” Iceman said making Jean-X roll her eyes, the two then went back into the action together.

Kitty-X

The holder of the mantle Shroud was back-handspring away from multiple lasers that were fired at her. Finally, Kitty-X landed only for a laser to rise from the ground five feet behind her. Hearing a noise Kitty-X turns around just as the laser fired at her. On instinct Kitty-X phases through the laser beam, she then runs to the laser and runs straight threw it short circuiting it. Smirking Kitty-X hears a noise below her and sees the floor opening, acting quickly, she jumps away to keep herself from falling. The former Shadowcat then runs at two flamethrowers that appear from the ground and fire at her. Kitty-X dodges by jumping up in the air and using her powers to make herself lighter than air to make herself go higher. Once Kitty-X is high enough, she increases her density and falls straight down, right on top of one flamethrower, destroying it. The other flamethrower turned to Kitty-X but just as she was about to punch it into oblivion a lightning bolt, came from behind Kitty-X, and destroyed the machine. Sighing, Kitty-X turned to the direction to where the lightning bolt came from, to see Storm floating behind her, “I had that, but thanks,” Kitty-X said

“You’re welcome, we must remember that this is a team training exercise which means that we help each other,” Storm explained getting a nod from Kitty-X, just then the two see three saws heading toward them, the two women look at each other and charge the saws.

The training lasted about two hours and was near its completion. From what Storm has seen, her team seems to be doing very well. Time was nearly up, and a laser rose from the ground just ten feet from Kitty-X, seeing it the young woman runs to it, “I got it,” Kitty-X said

Not too far away Jean-X sees the same laser and ready’s her powers, “No, I got it,” Jean-X says as she sends a telekinetic blast at it.

Kitty-X, however, got to the laser first and destroyed it with one punch but before she could celebrate, she was hit with Jean-X’s blast, “Ahhh,” Kitty-X screamed as she was sent flying in the air and landing on her back hard.

“KITTY,” Iceman said as he slid to where Kitty-X landed.

“END SIMULATION,” Storm said, ending the simulation.

“You ok,” Iceman asked as he helped Kitty-X up.

“I’m fine,” Kitty-X said as she locked eyes with the person who sent the blast. Kitty-X got up and walked up to Jean-X, “What was that? I told you I had it.”

“And I told you I got it,” Jean-X replied

“I was closer, and I got there first,” Kitty-X said

“And you should have listened to me,” Jean-X said

“Like hell…,” Kitty-X said as she glared at Jean-X, but she was interrupted.

“Enough,” Storm intervened before a fight could break out, she then turned toward Kitty-X, “Are you ok Kitty?”

Kitty-X didn’t respond at first, all she did was glare at Jean-X who returned it. Finally, Kitty-X spoke, “I’m fine,” she said

“Good, we did pretty good today, but next time perhaps we can use a little more teamwork. Training is done for today, everyone hit the showers,” Storm said

“I’ll head to Cerebro after the shower and will spend an hour on it, see if I can detect any mutant,” Jean-X said

“That’s good, alright everyone is dismissed,” Storm said, with that Kitty-X, Jean-X, Iceman, and Colossus all left the Danger Room, leaving Storm alone. When she was alone, Storm looked up and sighed. There was a lot of work to do, not just with the institute but with the X-Men. They’re not used to working together, they’ve been separated for so long. All of them are used to working alone. Yeah, they really do have their work cut out for them. After taking another moment, Storm leaves the Danger Room to shower and do some work.

Peter’s Apartment

Peter walked through the door, entering his apartment with a bunch of groceries in his arms. Once Peter closed the door, he walked up to the counter and dropped his groceries on it. Peter then proceeded to take out the food and drinks from the bags and put them into their proper locations in the kitchen.

Xavier Institute, Kitty’s Room

Kitty who is wearing a white Nike t-shirt and blue jeans was in her room looking for something, “Come on, where is it,” she said as she opened drawers from her desk, and then moved onto the shelves, “I know, you are here somewhere. You can’t hide forever.” Finally, Kitty was able to find what she was looking for on the top shelf, “There you are,” she said as she grabbed the item and looked at it. In her hands is none other than the movie The Cinderella Story, “Thank god.” Kitty then looked at the time, “Time to go,” with a smile on her face Kitty grabbed a notebook, left her room and headed to the apartment.

Peter’s Apartment

Hearing a knock from the door, Peter goes to it and opened it to show a smiling Kitty, “Get ready Mr. Parker because we are gonna be watching the greatest movie on the planet,” Kitty said indicating toward the movie that she has in her left hand, “While eating the greatest food in the known universe,” Kitty then indicated toward the large pizza in her right hand.

Peter smiled at Kitty, “Let me take that from you,” he said taking the pizza from Kitty getting a thanks. “You got here quick,” Peter said

“Being located in Central Park really helps with travel,” Kitty quipped as she entered the apartment closing the door behind her.

“I keep forgetting that Xavier’s is in Central Park now. I’m so used to you guys being in Winchester. Why did Storm relocate the institute,” Peter asked

“She felt that it would make a bigger statement if we relocated to New York. Storm wanted to be closer to other superheroes, makes us seem less isolated. Storm hopes that by us showing more openness than perhaps the world will respond differently,” Kitty said

“Hm,” Peter said, he then looked at the pizza in his hands, “So, New York style?”

“Deep dish,” Kitty said getting a face from Peter making her giggle.

“You’re making me watch the Cinderella Story and eat a deep-dish pizza. You’re an evil woman,” Peter said

“Down to the core,” Kitty responded giggling again, “Now come on let’s get this movie night started.”

“What, no hi honey how was your day,” Peter joked

Kitty grinned, “Alright,” she said as she walked up to Peter, “Hi honey how was your day,” she said cutely.

“I know you’re mocking me, but it was pretty boring, watched the news, went to see if I had any snacks for the movie,” Peter said

“And,” Kitty asked

“I didn’t, so I went to the store and got some supplies, which reminds me,” Peter said as he opened the cabinet and revealed Cheese Puffs, “Cheese Puffs for the lady.”

Kitty immediately grabbed the cheese puffs, “I love you so much right now,” she said

“Enough to feel bad for getting a deep dish behind my back and not New York style,” Peter said

“I don’t love you that much,” Kitty quipped

“Well, that hurts, and to think, I bought you Sprite too,” Peter said as he took out a cold Sprite from the fridge.

Kitty immediately took the Sprite, “Thank you, and here’s your payment,” she said as she then kissed Peter’s cheek making him smile.

“That’s some payment,” Peter said as he got out some more snacks and Coke for him, he and Kitty then went over to the living area. Peter took the remote and changed the TV to the appropriate channel while Kitty took out the movie and inserted it in the player. Kitty then got up and sat on the couch next to Peter, both getting out a slice of deep-dish pizza to eat. After the movie ended, the pizza was gone, eaten by the two super powered teens. Kitty was now showing Peter some sketches that she has for his new spider-man suit.

“So, there is this one,” Kitty said as she showed Peter a rough drawing of Spider-Man in an all blue suit, a big red spider on the chest, the eyes being formed by red spider legs.

“Didn’t you say red, and blue is out,” Peter asked

“But these are different shades of red and blue, and they’re used differently,” Kitty defended, she then turned the page, and it showed a rough sketch of the Spider-Man Unlimited costume, “How about this one?”

“Too futuristic for my taste,” Peter said

“Well, what about this one,” Kitty said as she turned the page again, “The color scheme for this one is white and black.” A sketch of Spider-Man in a white suit with black octagon like webbing is shown on the page.

“That looks pretty cool, but white stains easily, it’d be putting that in the washer so many times. I’d still like to know how Moon Knight keeps stains off his outfit,” Peter said

“Tide, I bet you he uses Tide,” Kitty responded

“You think,” Peter asked

“Sure, it’s what I use, what detergent do you use,” Kitty asked

“Arms and Hammer,” Peter answered

“Arms and Hammer. Seriously,” Kitty asked

Peter shrugged, “It gets the job done,” he said

“You need to switch to Tide. This is a Tide building, all occupancies of this building must use Tide,” Kitty said

“Is that some kind of policy,” Peter joked

“You damn right it is, no other laundry detergent is allowed on the premises,” Kitty said

“I’ve been using Arms and Hammer for years,” Peter said

“Yeah, well I’m converting you, I mean seriously, who uses Arms and Hammer anymore,” Kitty said

“Aunt May,” Peter answered

“Well, I’m converting her too,” Kitty said making Peter chuckle, seeing Peter chuckle made Kitty smile.

Peter smiled, so far, he has had a great time, whenever he spends time with Kitty is always a great and fun time, but now it was time to get to something a little more serious. “So, exactly how am I gonna reveal myself to everyone,” he asked

“Good question,” Kitty said as she closed the notebook, “I guess the best way to tell everyone would be to gather them all up in one place, preferably a durable place you know just in case,” Kitty said getting a nod from Peter, he then rested his head on the backrest.

“They’re all gonna be angry with me,” Peter said

“Yes, they will be, but they’ll be angry with me too,” Kitty said

“Why would they be angry with you,” Peter asked as he looked at Kitty

“For keeping this a secret for so long, I’ve known that you were alive for over a year Peter, and I haven’t told anyone. Trust me, you aren’t gonna be the only one getting yelled at,” Kitty said

“You were only doing what I asked of you Kitty. Heck, you even tried to convince me to reveal myself a few times, almost succeeded too,” Peter said

“Yeah, then Mary Jane would step in,” Kitty said

“I think that Mary Jane enjoyed the quiet life that we had, and she was afraid that would all disappear if I revealed myself,” Peter said

“I can see that, after all no one escapes this life for long,” Kitty said

“Hey,” Peter said getting Kitty’s attention, “Don’t worry, I’ll take the blame for it all. I could tell them that if you wanted to continue seeing me then you had to keep this a secret.”

Kitty shook her head, “No, don’t do that Peter,” she said

“Why not,” Peter asked

“Well because, one, no one would believe it, that is completely unlike you to do something like that,” Kitty said

“So is wanting to stay dead and not wanting to get involved with the good versus evil thing, and I’ve done both. The second one was when I was first resurrected and the first one I’m doing now,” Peter said

“Yeah, but you were able to get your head on straight, and look at you now, wanting to get involved. No matter what Peter, whether you are Spider-Man or Peter Parker, you cannot betray who you are,” Kitty said

“And what am I,” Peter asked

“A hero,” Kitty said smiling at Peter making him smile back, he really is glad to have Kitty with him. Kitty then sighed, “The second reason that everyone would be mad is that whether or not you asked for it, I still kept it a secret. They may have all moved on Peter but losing you, it still hurts them to this day,” Kitty said as she remembered how Bobby acted when he remembered Peter today. “They have been hurting for so long, and I let that continue. I could have taken away that pain at any time by telling them, but I never did. I stayed quiet, I kept the secret, and I let them hurt. We both deserve their anger Peter, and I am not gonna let you face it alone. I’m gonna stick by you,” Kitty said she then grabbed Peter’s hand and squeezed it getting a squeeze back, “No matter what,” she said smiling, gaining a smile in return. “But in the end, they will all be so happy that you are alive, and they’ll forgive us eventually, and after that maybe we can work on making everything the way it was years ago.”

“I’m not sure I’d want that,” Peter said getting Kitty’s attention, “Making everything that it once was years ago. Sure, that sounds nice, but honestly I’d like to make things better than they were back then.”

“How so,” Kitty asked

“I don’t know, I guess I’ll figure that out when the time comes. I just know that there are things that I want to do differently than I did the first time around. I guess one thing is to make myself more available and helpful,” Peter said

“What do you mean,” Kitty asked

“What I mean is that no matter what. No matter what I’m doing, no matter what I’m going through, if the X-Men needs me, if you need me, then I’m there. I’ll be there. No matter what, I’ll always be there,” Peter said as he smiled at Kitty and squeezed her hand. Kitty couldn’t help but smile in return and thanked Peter by giving him a kiss on the cheek.

December 10, 1:00 pm, Johnny’s Apartment

Johnny who is wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts was sitting down on the couch watching TV while eating some barbeque chips when he heard his phone ring, “Hm,” he said as he got his phone, “Who could that be,” Johnny took out his phone and checked the caller ID to see who it was only to see a familiar name. Once he saw the name, Jonny smiled and answered the phone, “Hey Kitty what’s up? How’s being an X-Man going for ya, still didn’t get my invitation ya know.”

“Hey Johnny, yeah, it’s been a while. Hey, I’m gathering some people and I need you, Sue, and Ben there,” Kitty said

“What’s going on? The world isn’t ending again is it,” Johnny asked

“No, nothing world ending, it’s just, there is something that you all need to know, something important. So, will you be there,” Kitty asked

“Sure, where is it,” Johnny said

“You know that old warehouse in Upper Manhattan, that’s where everyone is meeting, be there tomorrow at 2:00,” Kitty said

“Right, I’ll talk to Sue and Ben, and we’ll be there,” Johnny said

“Good, see you then,” Kitty said

“Later Kitty,” Johnny said with that both teenagers hung-up.

New York, Chelsea, 1:10 pm

Kitty who is wearing a yellow tank-top and black jeans with white sneakers is walking down the sidewalk heading toward her destination. Where is she headed? Somewhere that she hasn’t been in quite some time, going to see someone who she hasn’t seen in quite some time. Finally, Kitty spots an apartment building and stops in front of it, she looks up at it and sighs. She could call like she did with Johnny, but Kitty decided that she needed to talk with her. After all, no matter how long it has been, she is still Kitty’s best friend. They needed to talk and fix things. With that Kitty walked up to the building and entered it.

Upstairs

Kitty walks down the hall looking at all the doors keeping an eye out for one specific door. Finally, she finds the door that she was looking for, and stops in front of it. Kitty stands in front of the door for a minute and stares at it. She can’t help but feel nervous, she wants to fix things, but what if she is still angry? Will she even talk to her? Kitty sighed, one way to find out. With that Kitty knocks on the door three times.

“Coming,” a female voice calls from behind the door, footsteps are heard heading toward the door until they stop. The person then unlocks the door and opens it, once the door opened Kitty sees none other than Jessica Drew who is wearing a dark red short-sleeve shirt, and blue jeans. “Hello, who is…,” Jessica said but she stopped once she saw Kitty, “Kitty,” Jessica said in surprise.

“Hey Jessica,” Kitty greeted with a small smile and a wave.

“Hey. What, what are you doing here,” Jessica asked

“I came to see you. Can we, can we talk,” Kitty asked hesitantly

“Yeah, sure, come in,” Jessica said stepping aside, allowing Kitty to enter the apartment. As Kitty entered the apartment, she walked in the living area and looked around, nothing had changed since the last time she was here. It’s all the same, Kitty hears the door close and turns to see Jessica walking in the living area too. She looked just as nervous as Kitty herself does, which makes Kitty feel a little better, at least she isn’t the only bundle of nerves. Kitty and Jessica look at each other for a moment, neither sure what to say, until Jessica clears her throat, “It’s good to see you,” Jessica said honestly with no hint of anger or resentment as there was the last, they spoke.

Kitty relaxes a little, “It’s good to see you too. It’s been a while,” Kitty said

“Five months,” Jessica said

“That long,” Kitty asked getting a nod from Jessica, “I’m sorry it took so long to talk.”

“We could have talked a lot sooner if you had called,” Jessica said

Kitty flinched a little, “I’m sorry about that, it’s just after the fight, I thought that it would be best if we had some space from each other,” Kitty explained

“Maybe, but we didn’t need that much space,” Jessica said

“I wasn’t sure you ever wanted to talk to me,” Kitty said

“Of course I did. You’re my best friend, why wouldn’t I want to talk to you,” Jessica said

“I’m still your best friend,” Kitty asked feeling hopeful.

Jessica smiled, “Of course you are, no fight, no matter how big will change that,” Jessica said

Kitty’s face became solemn, “You were just so angry when I told you, and the things we said to each other,” Kitty said

“I was angry, because I didn’t understand Kitty, I didn’t understand why you were leaving the Young Ultimates. I still don’t understand. I’ve thought for months about why you left, and I still don’t know why. Why did you leave Kitty, please tell me,” Jessica asked

Kitty sighed, “You wouldn’t believe me, you wouldn’t understand,” she said

Jessica walked up closer to Kitty, “Try me,” she said

Kitty sighed, “Being a Young Ultimate meant that I was associated with them, with him, and I couldn’t be associated with them,” Kitty said

“With who,” Jessica asked

“The Ultimates, and Captain America,” Kitty answered surprising Jessica, “The Young Ultimates were formed to honor Captain America. I couldn’t be part of a team that honored him, it made me sick to be part of anything associated with that bastard.”

“Why? Why don’t you want any part of Captain America? What did he do that was so bad,” Jessica asked

“You mean besides sending soldiers to gather up all mutants for deportation to another land,” Kitty commented

“Point, but that can’t be all,” Jessica said

“It’s not, what he did was far worse than that,” Kitty said

“What did he do,” Jessica asked

“It wasn’t just him, it was the New Ultimates, the Avengers, and S.H.I.E.L.D., they’re all responsible, but out of them all, Captain America is the true culprit,” Kitty said starting to get angry and it was showing.

“What did they do,” Jessica said

Kitty looked at Jessica in the eyes, “They killed Peter,” she answered

“WHAT,” Jessica exclaimed in shock.

Kitty nodded, “They killed him,” she said

Jessica shook her head, “Kitty, that’s ridiculous, they didn’t killed Peter, the Green Goblin did,” she said, that set Kitty off.

“YOU’RE WRONG. PETER MAY HAVE DIED FIGHTING THE GREEN GOBLIN, BUT IF THEY HAD LEFT HIM ALONE, IF THE ULTIMATES, S.H.I.E.L.D., CAPTAIN AMERICA, IF THEY HAD LEFT HIM ALONE THEN HE NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED IN THE FIRST PLACE. HE WOULD STILL BE SWINGING AROUND NEW YORK BEATING UP BAD GUY, AND HANGING OUT WITH US,” Kitty yelled getting worked up.

“Kitty, calm down, I don’t understand. How is Captain America and the Ultimates responsible for Peter’s death,” Jessica asked

Kitty took a deep breath, and told herself that Peter was alive, he was alive and breathing. After a moment Kitty succeeded in calming down, “Do you remember in the reports when they said that Peter had a bullet wound when he died,” she asked

“Yeah, it was the cause of his death, as he fought, the wound got worse. Combine that wound with the ones he got in the fight along with the explosion, it just became too much for him,” Jessica said solemnly

Kitty gave a shaky breath, “They never did tell us where the wound came from, who gave it to him,” she said

“No one knew, he must have gotten it while he was patrolling. Too bad no one knows, what I wouldn’t give to find the bastard who shot him,” Jessica said, she could think of a lot of painful things she’d like to do to the guy.

Kitty snorted, “Oh, someone knew, a lot of people knew, they just wouldn’t give the answer. Didn’t want their reputation to be tarnished,” Kitty growled out.

“Wait! You know,” Jessica asked getting a nod from Kitty.

“When the Avengers and Ultimates were fighting in New York, while Peter was searching for Goblin and his Sinister Sex he came across the fight. During the fight Captain America was gonna get shot by the Punisher but Peter pushed him out of the way and got shot himself. Later the bridge blew up, Peter webbed up the bullet wound and went to face Osborn and the other villains,” Kitty said

“Kitty, it sounds like that Peter was just being Peter and helped out. It wasn’t Caps fault, if anything it’s Frank Castle’s,” Jessica said

Kitty snorted, “Not likely, Peter he didn’t just come on to the fight, he followed Captain America to it,” Kitty said

“What? What was Peter doing with Captain America,” Jessica asked

“Being forced to train with him,” Kitty answered getting a questioning look from Jessica, “There was in incident with a thief both Peter and Captain America went after the thief. The thief almost got away, and people were almost hurt. The thing is it wasn’t Peter’s fault at all it was that bastard of a super soldier. He got in Peter’s way the entire time, if he had just stepped out of the way then the thief would have been caught faster, and people’s lives wouldn’t have been endangered. Lives that Peter saved by the way. The thief was caught, and lives were saved but Captain America couldn’t let what happened go, he couldn’t accept that he got in a kid’s way, he couldn’t accept that he made mistakes, that Peter was the one who cleaned up his mess. So, what does he do? He decides to blame Peter, to use him as a scapegoat, decided that Peter shouldn’t be Spider-Man, he decided that Peter was ill-trained, let’s forget the fact that he had been Spider-Man for a year. The thing is when he told Stark the story, Tony himself said that it sounded like it was Captain America’s fault. But the captain wouldn’t hear is, he was adamant on blaming Peter, and getting him to quit being Spider-Man. And Carol Danvers was right behind him, they went to Peter, told him that he had to quit. Then it was decided that he would get training from the Ultimates. The choice was either get training or be arrested for vigilantism. Peter had no other choice, so he trained with them. Eventually he started his training with Captain America and the guy didn’t even care, he would just have been happy if Peter quit. He didn’t care about making Peter a better hero, training Peter was nothing but a chore to him. He took Peter to a graveyard and tried to fill his head with some bullshit of them all being soldiers. That’s when he got that call about the Avengers being spotted. Peter heard the call, and when Cap left Peter followed, he saw as they all fought, he then discovered that Osborn and the rest of his villains escaped, Peter went and got May and Gwen away, he then went searching for Osborn, when he eventually passed by the battlefield again, and well I already told you about the bullet wound.”

“I can’t believe it. Are you sure,” Jessica asked, she couldn’t believe it. Could Captain America really be the reason why Peter died, all this time.

Kitty then took out her phone, put it on a video, and handed it to Jessica, “I overheard it Jessica, Cap and Tony were talking about it once. I then investigated more, and I discovered everything that I told you. I was also able to retrieve the video of that theft that started all of this,” Kitty said

As she watched the video, Jessica couldn’t believe it, but she was seeing it with her own eyes, Captain America and Spider-Man chasing the thief and the super soldier keeps getting in the way, “All this time, Captain America,” Jessica said as she finished the video and handed it back to Kitty who pocketed her phone.

“He should have left Peter alone, he should have taken responsibility for his own actions, but he didn’t. He didn’t, and because of that Peter died,” Kitty said

“Bastard,” Jessica said as she started to feel anger at Captain America for keeping all this from them. To what, save face?

“The Young Ultimates were created to honor Captain America, I can’t be part of something that involves him, the Ultimates, the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D., any of them. I will not be part of it, I’m sorry Jessica,” Kitty said

Jessica sighed, “I understand Kitty,” she said

“You do,” Kitty asked

“I do, and thank you for telling me this,” Jessica said

“I wasn’t sure if you’d believe me,” Kitty said

“I do believe you, and the next time I see the bastard I swear he’ll pay,” Jessica said making Kitty smile, “But, I’m not gonna leave the Young Ultimates, they’re my team Kitty, I won’t abandon them.”

“I don’t expect you too, just don’t expect me to be part of the team, not as long as you’re associated with him,” Kitty said

Jessica sighed and nodded, “Understood,” she said, Kitty and Jessica look at each other for a moment and then hug each other, “I’m glad we talked.”

“So am I, I’m glad that we were able to settle everything between us,” Kitty said as they broke apart, “I wish I could say that I came here solely to make things right, but there is another reason why I came here.”

Jessica looked curious, “Really, what’s that,” Jessica asked

“I need you to come to that warehouse in Upper Manhattan tomorrow at 2:00. There is something important that you need to know,” Kitty said

“Why can’t you just tell me now,” Jessica asked

“It’s better for you to come tomorrow to find out,” Kitty answered

“Should I bring the team,” Jessica asked getting a headshake from Kitty.

“No, just you. So, will you be there,” Kitty asked

“I’ll be there,” Jessica said

“Good, I have to go now, but maybe we can hangout sometime, like we used too,” Kitty said

“Definitely,” Jessica said, the two then smiled at each other, and Kitty left the apartment to get everything ready for the reveal to come.

Xavier Institute, 1:50 pm

Kitty walked around Xavier Institute trying to find where the team was, she was finally able to locate Ororo who was in Xavier’s office, now her office, doing some work. “Ororo,” Kitty said getting Ororo’s attention.

“Kitty, hey,” Ororo greeted as she placed the pen down.

“What’cha doin,” Kitty asked

“Some paperwork, getting this school back to the way it was, it takes a lot of paperwork. I don’t know how the professor did it,” Ororo said

“One of the mysteries of the universe,” Kitty responded

“So, what’s up,” Ororo asked

“I’m gathering some people at that warehouse in Upper Manhattan, and I need the X-Men to all be there,” Kitty asked

“Why? Who’re you gathering,” Ororo asked

“Johnny, Ben, Sue, Jessica, and I’m hoping you all,” Kitty answered

“Why are you gathering everyone? Is everything ok,” Ororo asked

Kitty sighed, “I guess that depends, I’ve been keeping a secret. A secret that affects everyone who is being gathered. I’m quite sure that once you all find out, you’re all gonna be angry with me,” she said

“Kitty,” Ororo said as she got up from her chair and walked up to her friend, “Tell me what’s going on. Whatever it is I’m sure we can figure it out.”

Kitty shook her head, “You will find out at the warehouse, the only thing that I can say is that it is important,” she said making Ororo sigh.

“Ok, we’ll all be there Kitty. What time,” Ororo asked

“Be there by 2:00,” Kitty answered

“Ok, we’ll be there,” Ororo said

“Good,” Kitty said as she smiled, her smile then dropped, “I didn’t enjoy keeping this a secret Ororo, please remember that.” Kitty then turned around and walked out of the office.

December 11, 2:00 pm, Upper Manhattan, Warehouse

Black Widow was web swinging to the warehouse that she was supposed to meet Kitty, she finally saw the warehouse, as she approached it, she saw a familiar group of people on the roof. Seeing this she headed to the roof and landed, getting everyone’s attention.

“Jessica,” Johnny who is wearing a blue t-shirt with a black number four where his heart is and black jeans said as he saw the heroine, with him were his sister Sue who is wearing a orange v-neck t-shirt, blue jeans and brown boots, and next to her is her husband and Johnny’s brother-in-law Ben who is wearing a white shirt, leather jacket, and cargo pants.

“Been awhile,” Bobby who is wearing a red checkered shirt and brown pants said, with him are Ororo, Jean, and Piotr.

Ororo decided to wear a white collared shirt with some khaki pants giving her that teach vibe.

Jean is wearing a light green t-shirt with three horizontal, dark green stripes, going down, and blue jeans.

Piotr was wearing a black t-shirt, and blue jeans.

May Parker being accompanied by Gwen then walk toward Jessica, “It’s good to see you Jessica,” May said

May is wearing a pink collared long-sleeved collared shirt and light blue jeans. Gwen was wearing a black crop-top and dark blue jeans

Jessica took off her mask and spoke, “You too Aunt May, I see that I wasn’t the only one who Kitty asked to be here. Does anyone know why she called us here,” Jessica asked, in response May and Gwen looked at each other. Soon they will all know, they just hope that they take it well.

“No, we don’t, we just got here five minutes ago,” Bobby answered

“We were here ten minutes early,” Johnny said

“That’s because I didn’t want to be late, and with your punctuality that is a given,” Sue said getting a chuckle from May.

“Sue, I’ve had your brother living under my roof for months, trust me, I know how you feel,” May said

“Hey, Aunt May! That’s cold,” Johnny whined getting a chuckle from Bobby.

“I don’t know why you’re laughing Bobby when you were just as bad,” May said

“That was all Johnny’s fault, if he didn’t take so long then we never would have been late for school as much as we were,” Bobby defended

“Mmhm,” May said as she eyed the two in amusement, watching as they grumbled, but neither would dare talk back. They know better than to talk back to Aunt May, that woman is as tough as nails, there is a reason why she was able to raise four teenagers for months.

“That’s not surprising,” Kitty said, everyone turned around as saw her enter the roof. Kitty is wearing a red spaghetti strap tank-top and blue jeans, “Johnny and Bobby being goofs, why am I not surprised.”

“Kitty,” Jessica said

“Hey everybody,” Kitty greeted with a wave, “Thank you all of coming.”

“Of course. Thankfully we were able to get a sitter,” Sue said

“What’s going on though? If the world isn’t ending then why are we here,” Ben asked

“You said it was important,” Johnny said

“It is, what you are about to discover will be shocking, and possibly life shattering. I have been keeping a secret from you all, a huge secret,” Kitty said

“Oh my god, you’re bisexual, I knew it. You and Jessica just seemed way too close in my opinion,” Johnny joked making both Kitty and Jessica frown. Jessica then walked up to Johhny and slapped him hard on the back of the head, “OW, THAT HURT.”

“Good. Go on Kitty,” Jessica said

“I have been keeping a secret from you all, a secret that affects everyone here. All I can do is apologize for keeping it for so long, everyone here had a right to know, and I never told you. I let each of you hurt for so long. I could have taken that away. I’m sorry,” Kitty said

“Kitty, what going on,” Ororo asked

“Is this secret really that bad,” Bobby asked

“What is it,” Ben asked

“It’s about Peter,” Kitty answered

“WHAT,” the group excluding May and Gwen said

“What about Peter,” Johnny said

“Wait Kitty are you,” Jessica asked, silently asking if she is gonna reveal how Peter really died.

Kitty shook her head, no, not yet this isn’t the time to tell everyone that story, there will come a time, but this isn’t it. “There is something about Peter that none of you know, a fact about him that not even he knew for a while, and it involves why Osborn is still alive,” Kitty said

“Osborn,” Bobby repeated, the mood then grew tense, all of them were angry at the Green Goblin for what he did, and each of them would love to make him pay.

“What about Osborn,” Ororo asked

“Are you saying that you know how he survived,” Ben asked getting a nod from Kitty, “How?”

“We all know about the super soldier serum, the government, the world has spent years in replicating it. One of the results of the replication is mutants,” Kitty said getting nods from everyone there, “Years ago Oscorp, had a go at trying to replicate the super soldier serum called the Oz serum and they used spiders as test subjects. One of these spiders got loose and bit Peter giving him spider-like powers, he had superstrength, superspeed, super equilibrium, spider-sense, a healing factor, and more. Osborn later took the serum himself and became the Green Goblin,” Kitty informed

“This is all interesting Kitty, but what does this have to do with the Goblin being alive,” Ben said

“I’m getting to that. So, the Oz serum, I suppose you could say worked, anyone who took it got powers, but there was another side-effect that the serum had. A…well I guess it depends on a person’s perspective, one could call it great, but another could call it awful,” Kitty said

“What was the side-effect,” Jessica asked

Kitty sighed, she then looked at everyone on the roof, “Immortality,” she answered

“WHAT,” the group said in shock.

“Immortality. Are you serious,” Jean asked in shock

Kitty nodded, “I am, anyone who has the serum in them has immortality, in other words they can never die. Even if they are killed, they will be revived,” Kitty said

“Shit,” Johnny said

“So, that’s how the Green Goblin is alive,” Bobby said

Kitty waited for everything to sink in for everyone, she is waiting for someone to come to the conclusion, and that someone was Sue herself.

“Wait,” Sue said snapping out of her shock, “You said that anyone who has the Oz serum in them can’t die, that even if they’re killed, they will be revived.”

“I did,” Kitty confirmed

“But Peter had the serum in him, and he died fighting the Green Goblin, so either the spider’s venom affected the serum in some way that it made the side-effect ineffective, or…,” Sue said coming to the realization, she then looked at Kitty, “No way.” All she got in return was a nod from the girl. It didn’t take long for everyone else to come to the same conclusion as Sue.

“No way,” Bobby said

“You can’t be serious,” Johnny said

“Impossible,” Jessica said

“I can’t believe it,” Ororo said

“Unreal,” Ben said

Kitty sighed and then tapped her ear, “That’s your que,” she said, Kitty then turned her head to see a figure swinging from building to building over to the warehouse. Everyone turned to follow Kitty’s line of sight and saw the same figure. As they saw the figure, they all felt anticipation fill them. It couldn’t be, he’s dead, it must be someone else. As the figure got closer, they see the figure is wearing a red and blue suit with a web pattern etched onto it, the figure was wearing a red mask, that had the same web pattern, huge eye lenses, though what really got everyone’s attention was the familiar black spider on his chest. Finally, the figure made it to the warehouse, he released his web, and jumped down landing on the roof next to Kitty.

The group was able to get another look and right in front of them is someone who is supposed to be dead, right in front of them is Spider-Man. They couldn’t believe it, everyone watched in shock as Spider-Man stood next to Kitty. This couldn’t be right, he was dead, he died years ago. How is he alive? Where has he been? No, it can’t be him, it has to be someone else. Just then Spider-Man took off his mask to show the face of a more mature Peter Parker. “Hey guys, how’s it hanging,” Peter said, he got nothing in return, only a headshake from Kitty.

“You said, you wouldn’t make that joke,” Kitty said

“I say a lot of things,” Peter said shrugging his shoulders making Kitty snort. Everyone just stood there as they all eyed the person right in front of them. He certainly looked like Peter. Only older and with longer hair.

Gwen walked up to Peter then, “Seriously Peter, lame joke. Couldn’t have come up with something better,” Gwen said

“I think I am entitled to a quip of my choosing, and I chose how’s it hanging,” Peter responded

“So lame,” Kitty said

“Yeah, well you’re a New Yorker who favors deep-dish over New York style, so I’m not listening to you,” Peter said making Kitty snort and smirk.

“Just because I was born in New York, doesn’t mean I have to favor their pizza,” Kitty said

“You are an abomination of a New Yorker,” Peter said

“Hey, don’t forget who’s place you’re staying at. I can kick you out at any time,” Kitty shoots back

That got the group’s attention, Peter has been staying at Kitty’s place. For how long has that been happening? How long has she known that he’s alive, and why is Gwen not shocked by this? Unless she knew as well.

“You wouldn’t dare, you love my company,” Peter said

“I don’t know, it would be nice to go five seconds without hearing your lame jokes,” Kitty quipped

“Wow, you know Bobby may be the one with ice powers, but you truly are cold Kitty,” Peter said

“Straight up,” Kitty said making Gwen laugh in response.

“Alright kids that’s enough,” May said as she walked up to the three, “You can bicker later, right now we’re in the middle of something.” The four then all look at the group of people who watch them in shock.

Finally, Sue is once again the first to snap out of her shock, “Peter,” Sue said

“Hey Sue,” Peter said waving.

“Is it, is it really you,” Sue asked

“Yep, it’s me, 100%,” Peter said

“How do we know for sure though,” Jessica said as she stalked toward Peter and stopped right in front of him glaring daggers at him, “How do we know that you’re really Peter Parker? How do we know that you’re not just some cheap knock off, of a clone?”

“Wow,” Peter said in surprise, “Were you always this intimidating or did you learn that when you joined S.H.I.E.L.D.? Maybe I should have joined S.H.I.E.L.D.”

“Don’t even think about it,” Kitty warned

“I didn’t say I was gonna do it, but in another world maybe I am part of S.H.I.E.L.D., leading my own superhero team. That would be cool,” Peter said

“Again, don’t even think about it,” Kitty warned

“Ok calm down, the thought is out of my head. Lost forever, happy,” Peter asked

“Extremely,” Kitty quipped, they were interrupted by Jessica.

“HEY,” Jessica said getting their attention, “You didn’t answer my question. How do we know that you are not a clone? And I suggest you answer, before I make sure you meet the same end as the other clones.”

“Oh yeah, that really was something, the clone thing was seriously screwed up, really screwed with my head,” Peter said

“It’s him Jessica,” Kitty said getting Jessica’s attention, “It’s him.”

“How can you be so sure, just because he looks like Peter, doesn’t mean he is Peter,” Jessica said

“I know Jessica, I just know. It’s him Jessica I know it’s him,” Kitty said

“How can you be so sure though,” Ororo asked getting everyone’s attention on her.

“It’s a total cliche, but it’s his eyes, there is a look in Peter’s eyes that only Peter has, no one can copy it. Not a shapeshifter, or a clone,” Kitty explained

“Ah Kitty, that’s sweet,” Peter said

“Shut up Peter, don’t let it go to your head,” Kitty said

“Too late,” Peter said

“I’m sorry Kitty, but I think that we need something more concrete than a look in Peter’s eye,” Sue said

“I have a way on proving who I am,” Peter said getting everyone’s attention, “I’ll let Jean read my mind.”

“Really,” Ben said

“Yeah sure, you can go through the whole thing, just you know, be sure to not switch my mind with someone else’s like last time. I do not wish to be in a body of Bobby or Johnny, that would be terrifying, or Jessica, that would be weird,” Peter said

“Yeah, well you’re no peach either Parker,” Bobby retorted

“Yeah, besides what is wrong being me? My life’s awesome,” Johnny said

“Sure, it is Johnny, sure it is,” Peter said rolling his eyes

“Screw you Peter,” Johnny said making Peter smirk.

“So, what are we waiting for? Make with the mind reading Marvel Girl, so I can prove that I’m me,” Peter said

“Ok first don’t call me that,” Jean said as she walked up to Peter., “Just to clarify, you are giving me permission to enter your mind,” Jean asked getting a nod from Peter, “You are giving me permission to see all of your memories, your entire life, including any private and personal moments?

“If it means that I can prove to you all that I’m actually me, then yes, just promise me that you won’t switch my mind with anyone,” Peter said

“That was an accident you know,” Jean defended she then sighed, “Ok, here we go.” Jean then placed her hands on Peter’s head for a better connection, then Jean entered Peter’s mind, and she saw everything. His entire life from his earliest memories up till now. She saw his life with his aunt and uncle, she saw him get bit by the spider, she saw him use his powers to make money, she saw when he discovered his Uncle Ben’s death and felt the pain and anguish he felt, she saw him become a hero, she saw his fights, when he met the X-Men and Fantastic Four, she saw his relationships, with Gwen, Mary Jane, and Kitty herself, she then saw when Peter went after the thief and Captain America kept getting in the way and endangering people, people which Peter saved. She saw when they caught the thief, she saw when Peter was approached by Captain America and Carol Danvers, she saw the ultimatum they gave him, she saw his training with the Ultimates and then Captain America himself, how discouraging Captain America was, and how he took Peter to a graveyard and gave him the they are all soldier speech which honestly disgusted Jean that the bastard would do that and try to change the kid. She saw Captain America discovering where the Avengers were and Peter following, she saw Peter arrive to watch, she saw when Peter got the phone call from Mary Jane telling him that Osborn who he now discovered was alive and his Sinister Six escaped, she saw Peter go home and warn Gwen and May, she saw Peter go out and look for the Sinister Six, she saw Peter once again come across the fight, she saw Peter push Captain America out of the way of the bullet, being shot himself. She saw the bridge blow up and Peter webbing up his bullet wound and went to approach Goblin and his Sinister Six, she saw just how strong Peter was and was truly amazed by what he is capable of when he isn’t holding back, and he was wounded, makes Jean wonder how strong he would be when he isn’t wounded, he saw Peter defeat all of the Sinister Six, she saw Peter’s fight with Green Goblin, she saw as he was being beaten by the Green Goblin, she saw MJ run Goblin over with a truck, she saw Peter push MJ away and used that same truck and slammed it on Green Goblin, making the truck explode and throwing Peter back, she then saw Peter in Mary Jane’s arms smiling at her and his Aunt saying his last words then he died.

Jean then saw Peter waking up in some lab, he left, arrived at New York, ran into Mary Jane, and dug up his grave to find his body missing, she saw him run into Miles, and then saw them team-up and fight the Green Goblin. She saw Peter leave with Mary Jane to live a quiet life, she saw and felt his unhappiness about not being with his friends, and his uneasiness of not knowing how he is alive, she saw his investigation and when he discovered his immortality. She saw Peter going into a depression and how everyone tried to help but nothing worked, she then saw Aunt May arrive followed by Kitty herself, she saw the emotional reunion between the two, Jean always knew that Kitty still loved Peter. She saw them talk and Peter explain everything to Kitty, she then saw Kitty give Peter a pep talk and taking him out of his depression, she saw his declaration of curing himself of his immortality, she saw him, Kitty, and Gwen work tirelessly on finding a cure, she then saw the day where the chemical composition just disappeared without a trace and being replaced with a new one, mystifying Peter, Kitty, and Jean herself, she saw the party, she saw Peter spending time and enjoying himself, she saw the talk he and Kitty had about things being changed, she saw Peter discovering Miles disappearance, and him returning to New York. She saw Peter going out at night and stopping crime, she saw him deciding that he wanted to become Spider-Man again, she saw his and Mary Jane’s fights, she saw their breakup, she saw him visiting Kitty, telling her what happened, she saw them leave to get Chinese food, she saw Kitty bringing Peter to her safehouse to live in, she saw them almost kiss, she saw them go out and patrol, she then saw Peter’s first few days at the apartment, she saw he and Kitty’s movie night which was two days ago. She now sees Peter’s most recent thoughts which are all of Kitty herself, she sees that Peter loves Kitty, and truly wants to be with her. Jean decided then was a good time to leave, she had seen what she needed to, although she does have some other questions that need answered. With that Jean exited Peter’s mind and came back into the real world.

Once she was back in the real-world Jean released Peter and took a step back, looking at him in shock. She has seen his whole life, she knows what he’s been through, she knows that the man in front of her is the real Peter Parker, and even though she knows, she still can’t believe it. It is still unbelievable to her.

“Well Jean,” Bobby asked anxiously

“It’s him, I scanned his entire mind, saw each and every memory even memories that he himself doesn’t remember. It’s him, he is the real Peter Parker,” Jean said getting gasps from the group.

“I can’t believe it,” Jessica said

“Well believe it sis, it’s me,” Peter said surprising Jessica.

“What did you just call me,” Jessica asked

“Sis, when you think about it you are my sister, I think it’s time I start calling you by that title right,” Peter said, there was still some silence with everyone, they still can’t believe it.

“Peter, is it really you,” Johnny asked, he knows that he just got the confirmation from Jean, but he just has to hear it for himself.

“It’s me Johnny, it’s really me,” Peter said

“But how? How long have you been back,” Ben said

“It’s like Kitty said, the Oz serum grants anyone with it in their system immortality, they don’t stay killed for long, and they don’t age,” Peter answered

“How long have you been back,” Bobby asked

Peter hesitated, “Over a year,” he answered

“Over a year,” Bobby repeated, his friend has been alive for over a year, and never bothered to let him know that he was alive?

“Why didn’t you reveal yourself to us earlier,” Jessica asked still trying to sort out her feelings right now.

Peter sighed, “After I was revived, I found myself in some lab, I went to New York and ran into MJ, to be sure that I was the real Peter Parker we dug up my grave and found my casket empty. I had decided then it was best if I stayed dead, I didn’t want to bring back all of that pain that you all went through so I planned to leave the city, all I wanted was to get my web-shooters as a reminder of my dad. I found out that another person had them though. Miles,” Peter said

“You met Miles,” Sue asked getting a nod from Peter.

“I did, he caught me, asked me some questions like was I from another universe or something. I guess you all ran into an older version me,” Peter said

“We did, I’ll admit, he was kind of cute,” Gwen said

“Wish I met him,” Kitty commented making Peter roll his eyes.

“Anyway, Miles asked me some questions and I tried to be as vague as possible, I told him that I was planning to leave New York, and I just wanted my web-shooters, he tried to convince me to stay, and tell you all,” Peter said, he then went on to tell them everything that happened up to the point where he and MJ left to live a quiet life. Before he could continue, he was interrupted by Johnny who was starting to get angry.

“So, you didn’t want to get involved, is that right? That’s why you left, that’s why you made us think that you were dead for so long, BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T WANT TO GET INVOLVED,” Johnny said as he approached Peter and stopped right in front of him, Peter could tell he was angry.

“Johnny please calm down, I haven’t finished,” Peter said but was interrupted

“LIKE HELL I’LL CALM DOWN YOU FUCKING BASTARD YOU LEFT US AND THREW US AWAY LIKE A BUNCH OF TRASH, ALL BECAUSE YOU WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HERO LIFE,” Johnny said

“Did we really mean so little to you Peter,” Bobby asked, he as well is starting to get angry too.

“Guys you have to understand, Peter was just revived, if you were just revived would you really want anything to do with the thing that got you killed,” Kitty defended

Jessica snorted, “Of course you’d defend him Kitty, how long have you known that he was alive in the first place,” she asked

Kitty looked down, “I’ve known for over a year,” she said

“Of course you did. How was that? Go on any dates, make out at all? What didn’t want to share him Kitty? Wanted him all to yourself,” Bobby said angrily making Kitty look down in shame.

“HEY, leave her alone. Kitty kept the secret because I asked her to, she wanted me to tell you all, but I didn’t. If you’re gonna blame anyone then blame me,” Peter defended, friends or not, he wasn’t gonna let any of them say anything awful to Kitty.

“No Peter,” Kitty said stopping Peter, “They deserve to be angry with me. I am not gonna let you take all of the blame, I won’t let you,” Kitty said, unconsciously grabbing Peter’s hand for strength. “I’m sorry I kept this from you.”

“How about we let Peter finish his story,” May said trying to break the tension.

“All along you knew about this,” Jessica said getting a nod from both May and Gwen.

“We did. After Peter left, Gwen and I visited as much as we could and spent time with him,” May said

“Why didn’t you say anything,” Ororo asked

“The hero life took Peter away from me. He was leaving New York to live a quiet life. Did I wish that he told you all? Yes, I did, but if keeping him a secret meant that he could live a full and safe life, then I was willing to keep it,” May said

“Guys listen,” Peter said getting everyone’s attention on him, “I’m sorry that I’ve kept my revival a secret for so long, I should have told you all when I was revived, but I didn’t, and I am sorry about that. But I’m back now,” Peter said

“Why are you back Peter? Why now are you telling us,” Sue asked the big question.

Peter sighed, “Mary Jane and I lived the quiet life for a while and it was nice for a while, but I wasn’t happy, not really. I was away from all of you, none of you knew that I was alive and that hurt me, it really did. There was also the question of how I was still alive. That had been in my head for so long, it drove me crazy not knowing. So, I investigated, and the best place to investigate was Oscorp. I broke into multiple of their facilities, and hacked their systems, until I discovered just how I was alive. It was because of the Oz serum, besides giving me powers, it also gave me a form of immortality. If someone killed me, I would be revived. I could not stay dead, I could not age. It was world shattering, finding out I was immortal was the worst news I could have had. The thought of me living forever, watching as all of my friends and family died right in front of me. It was terrible. Could you imagine that,” Peter asked

Everyone on the roof thought about it, watching as everyone you knew and loved died before your very eyes, leaving you alone in the world. That sounds awful, why would anyone ever seek immortality in the first place? How does Peter deal with that? Just then a little bit their anger for Peter decreased as they felt empathy for him.

“Once I discovered I was immortal, I went in a depression for quite a long time. I don’t know how long to be honest,” Peter said

“Two months,” Gwen said

“Really,” Peter asked in surprise getting a nod from Gwen.

“We all tried our best to bring him out of it, but we couldn’t, after two months I decided that perhaps a fresh face would help,” May said

“That’s when Aunt May came to me and told me everything about Peter being alive and how he discovered something devastating that made him depressed. I’ll admit to being skeptical, after all we’ve dealt with clones before. How did we know that he wasn’t a clone? Aunt May assured me that Peter was real, she then brought me over to Peter and MJ’s apartment where I saw Peter on the couch, his head in his hands, and MJ trying to talk to him. We eventually got their attention.

“I was certainly surprised to see you,” Peter said making Kitty chuckle.

“Right when we locked eyes, I knew that he was the real Peter, I just knew it, after that Peter got up, asked what I was doing there, and I told him that I heard he was in trouble and I came to help. We then hugged each other,” Kitty said, she smiled as she remembered what was possibly the happiest day of her life.

“After that everyone left us alone, and Kitty told me everything that had been going on with her, after she answered, she of course asked me the obvious question of how I was alive, and I told her,” Peter said

“I saw how Peter was depressed so I tried to get him out of it. Told him not to grieve our deaths yet, that when he is doing that he is missing out on all of the good times that we could have together. I told him that if the image of seeing our graves comes up then to replace it with all of the good memories that he has with us,” Kitty said

“She certainly got me out of my funk, after that I decided to take her advice and not to grieve everyone’s deaths and to spend as much time as I could with them,” Peter said as he squeezed Kitty’s hand showing her his appreciation for what she did for him that day. Kitty smiled in response to the squeeze and squeezed his hand back. “But I then decided to do something else.”

“What else did you do,” Ororo asked

“I decided that I was gonna find a cure for the immortality,” Peter said

“WHAT,” the group of people said in surprise.

“Finding a cure for immortality,” Bobby said

“Can you do that,” Piotr asked

“At the time I wasn’t sure, but I was willing to try. Whether or not it meant giving up my powers I was gonna try,” Peter said making some of the group smile, that was so like Peter willing to give up his powers just so he could live his life with them.

“Gwen and I decided to help Peter in finding the cure,” Kitty said

“We definitely learned a lot about science in those months, I swear I still dream about me being in a lab doing some weird experiment,” Gwen said

“The first step was finding out if the Oz serum itself gave the immortality or a chemical composition. After some testing, we discovered it was a chemical composition that gave me the immortality,” Peter explained

“We spent months research, and experimenting, trying to find some way to take out the composition and replace it with a new one,” Kitty said

“But nothing worked, everything we tried failed. It was frustrating,” Gwen said

“It the end I decided it was time to cut my losses and just find a cure for the Oz formula all together. And we spent months on that, and at times it seemed like I would never find a cure,” Peter said

“Wait, so Peter, are you immortal,” Bobby asked

Peter smiled, “Let me finish why don’t cha,” he said, “Anyway as I said, it seemed at times that I may never find a cure, but as time went on, I felt I was a couple of days away of finding the cure. I felt it, but then something weird happened,” Peter said

“What happened,” Johnny asked

“Tell me, do you all remember that day a few months ago, where you all just woke up, and it felt like that you were just refreshed, as if you were reborn and given a new start,” Kitty asked getting nods from the group.

“We felt that too,” Peter said indicating toward himself and Kitty, “That day Kitty was helping me in the lab, we went through the usual procedure which was taking my blood for a fresh sample and examine it. I put my blood under the microscope and when I looked I expected to see that same composition, only to my surprise I saw nothing,” Peter said surprising everyone.

“Nothing,” Jessica asked

“Nothing,” Peter confirmed

“I took a look next and like Peter I saw nothing, that chemical composition was gone, and it was replaced by a new one. We decided to check again with another sample of blood but got the same thing. It was gone, it was gone, and it was replaced,” Kitty said

“I was no longer immortal,” Peter said smiling

“It was a miracle,” Kitty said squeezing Peter’s hand.

“But, what happened to the composition? How was it replaced,” Sue asked, all kinds of theories going through her mind.

“We don’t know, Peter had a lot of questions, but I decided that this was one of those times that you don’t question,” Kitty said

“I did just as Kitty said, and didn’t question it, we then threw a party, it was nice. Really wished you were all there though. After that I just lived my life and enjoyed it. I then discovered that Miles and his family were gone, missing. With them gone I saw how New York was, I felt like that I needed to return so I came back,” Peter said

“How long have you been back,” Johnny asked

“Four months,” Peter said

“Four months,” Jessica said getting a nod from Peter.

“I tried to stay out of the fights and let everyone do it, but its hard doing that,” Peter said

“So hard that for the past few weeks, Peter has been going out at night dressed like some thug, and beats up bad guys,” Kitty said smirking.

“Dude that’s you,” Johnny asked, he’s heard on the news about some vigilante who goes out at night saving people.

“Yeah, that’s me,” Peter confirmed, he then looked at Kitty, “And your one to talk, you wear a faceless mask, seriously where did you get that idea from a scary movie?”

“Hey! The mask and suit works,” Kitty said making Peter snort.

“Yeah, it only took you like five costumes to finally settle on one,” Peter said

“What are you saying,” Kitty asked

“Kitty you are a lot of things, brave, bold, beautiful, an X-Man, you were the president of a nation, a world savior, you were an Ultimate, a hero, you’re the face of all of mutantkind,” Peter said making Kitty blush at him listing things that she is, then Peter drops the bomb, “But lady, you can’t dress yourself.”

Kitty’s mouth then drops open at the declaration, then, “HOW DARE YOU,” Kitty said as she let go of Peter’s hand and puts her hands on her hips, “I CAN SO DRESS MYSELF, RIGHT,” Kitty said as she looked at everyone on the roof. All of whom were avoiding eye contact with her. Kitty just stared at everyone in shock, “You’ve gotta be kidding me. None of you think I can dress myself?”

“Well, you haven’t exactly stuck with one look Kitty,” Bobby said

“That’s for sure,” Jessica said

“It’s called experimenting, finding the right look. It’s difficult to find the right look,” Kitty defended

“I got it in one try, and Miles got it in two,” Peter commented

“OH SHUT IT YOU JERK,” Kitty said to Peter making him smirk at her.

“Ok, ok kids, we can talk about Kitty’s fashion choices later,” May said

“You too, Aunt May,” Kitty whined

May ignored Kitty, “Peter continue the story,” she said

“Right,” Peter said, she then looked at everyone on the roof, “Yes, I have been going out at night and have been stopping some crime. Nothing big, just some muggings, robberies, murder and rape attempts. I haven’t run into any supervillains.” Peter then sighed, “But as I continued doing that, and I watched what has been going on in New York I have come to realize that I can’t stay hidden anymore, all of my old villains plus whatever villains Miles had are running rampant. Miles is gone, Spider-Man is gone, and the villains have noticed and are taking advantage of it. New York needs Spider-Man. It’s time I stepped back up. It’s my turn to fight. I’m back guys, and I’m not leaving, not again,” Peter said, everyone looked at Peter then for a long moment. Then Johnny walked back up to Peter, stared at him and then threw a punch at Peter’s face. There is a loud crack.

“AHHHHH, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, DAMMIT, DAMMIT, DAMMIT, FUCKING DAMMIT, MY HAND,” Johnny said as he holds his hurt hand.

“JOHNNY, are you ok,” Sue asked as she and Ben went up to him to check him out. Everyone watches the scene including Peter who looks on in surprise. He’ll be honest, he forgot that he was durable, haven’t needed it in so long.

“I think its broken,” Ben said as he checked Johnny’s hand,

“Does this mean that you’re still angry with me,” Peter said

“Of course, I’m still angry with you, you bastard, but I was gonna punch you then hug you. Ah dammit what are you made of solid steel? Someone else punch him and hug him,” Johnny said

“I don’t think there are a lot of people here who could do that without…,” Peter said but was interrupted by Jessica who punched him hard in the face.

“That felt good,” Jessica said as she smiled, she then walked up to Peter and hugged him, “Don’t you dare die again, you hear me. I may be your clone, but I have S.H.I.E.L.D. training and I can kick your ass. So don’t you dare die again.”

Peter smiled and hugged back, “Sure thing Jess,” he said

Once the two broke Ororo came up to Peter and offered her hand, “Welcome back Peter,” Ororo said giving Peter a smile.

Peter smiled and took her hand and shook it, “Thanks Storm, happy to be back,” he said

Once they broke their handshake Bobby walked up to Peter, “I really want to punch you right now,” Bobby said glaring at Peter.

Peter smiled in response, “You can if you want, I’ll roll with it,” he said

Bobby rolled his eyes, “Yeah, no thank you, I’ll just yell at you until you go death or something, till then,” Bobby said, he then hugged Peter who hugged him back. “I’m glad to have you back…brother.”

“Glad to be back brother,” Peter responded

“Ok break it up you two, let me get in there,” Johnny said walking up to the two as they broke the hug. “You,” Johnny said pointing at Peter with his good hand, “You are gonna pay for this,” he said motioning toward his injured hand.

Peter shrugged, “Sure, just let me find a job first, and I’ll pay you back,” he said

“I don’t want your money, I want your servitude,” Johnny said

“What,” Peter asked raising an eyebrow.

“I’m working on this girl, she has a friend, you and I are doubling,” Johnny said

“You want me to pay you back by going on a double date with you,” Peter said

“Exactly,” Johnny said, he then looked past Peter and saw Kitty who gave Johnny the scariest and deadliest glare he’d seen. An image of Kitty reaching in his chest and pulling out his heart then appears in Johnny’s head. Johnny gulped as the image disappeared, he then looked at Peter and smirked, “I’m kidding, you’d make a terrible wingman anyway, but I still want a favor.”

Peter smiled, “Fine I owe you a favor,” Peter said behind him Kitty smiled making Johnny give a mental sigh of relief. So, Kitty still obviously has feelings for Peter.

Sue then walked up to Peter and hugged him, “Glad to have you back,” she said

“Glad to be back,” Peter said as he hugged Sue, once they broke apart Ben comes up and slaps Peter on the back.

“Glad to have you back kid, don’t ever do something like this again or I’ll clobber ya,” Ben said

“Yes sir,” Peter said

“I just thought of something,” Johnny said

“What’s that,” Gwen asked

“You said that you went to live the quiet life with MJ,” Johnny said

“I did,” Peter said

“And you’re back in New York,” Johnny said

“I am,” Peter said

“That means MJ is back,” Johnny said

“She is,” Peter said

“So, if MJ is back and she knows that you are alive then why isn’t she here with us,” Johnny said

Peter sighed at that, “MJ and I are over,” Peter said surprising everyone.

“No way, seriously,” Bobby said

“Seriously, for the longest time we had just been going through the motions. Ever since we arrived back to New York I was barely at the apartment, and she was always out clubbing. We didn’t trust each other as much as we should have, combine that with our arguments of me being Spider-Man, we had a falling out, we broke up, and she kicked me out of our, now her apartment,” Peter said

“And now you’re staying at Kitty’s place,” Bobby asked

“He’s staying at my safehouse,” Kitty said

“You have a safehouse,” Johnny asked

“Of course,” Kitty answered

“Why,” Bobby said

“Why do you think,” Kitty retorted making everyone nod in understanding.

“We should celebrate, our old friend is back from the dead. This calls for a party or something,” Bobby said making everyone smile.

“Let’s all head to the institute, we have snacks and things there,” Ororo suggested

“Alright time to partay,” Johnny said

“Maybe we can get your hand bandaged while there,” Sue said as they all started to walk toward the exit.

As they walked Kitty bumped shoulders with Peter getting his attention. As he looked at her, he saw her smile, “I told you they’d be happy,” Kitty said

Peter smile, “You were right,” he said

“Of course, I’m right, I always am,” Kitty said as they grabbed each other’s hands again and exited the roof with their friends.

Apartment Building, 9:00 pm

Peter who is now wearing a white shirt, a sky blue hooded zipped up jacket over it, and blue jeans was in the elevator going up to his floor. He had just gotten back from the party that was thrown for him, it was really nice that they did that. Totally unnecessary but nice all the same, it was a fun party, one in which Peter used to catch up with his old friends to see what they have been doing.

Just then the elevator door opened, and Peter stepped out and headed to his apartment, as he walked Peter smiled. Through the entire party Kitty hadn’t left his side which he didn’t mind at all, he was glad to have her there with him. They all talked, joked, laughed, danced, it really was fun. However, later through the party Kitty decided to call it a night, not long after some of the others started to leave too. Peter was sad to leave after seeing everyone, but he knows that he’ll see them again, he’s sure of it.

Peter finally found his apartment door, he took out his keys, unlocked the door, opened it, and then entered the apartment. As Peter entered his apartment, to his surprise he saw Kitty standing in the middle of the living room. “Kitty,” Peter said curiously

“Hey Peter,” Kitty said

“Hey. What are you doing here,” Peter asked

“Well, this is my apartment,” Kitty said

“True, but I thought we made a rule about dropping by without calling after the incident,” Peter said blushing making Kitty blush as well as she remembered Peter in nothing but a towel, that was embarrassing.

“Yeah, well to be fair I knocked,” Kitty said, it was true, she did knock just in case that Peter had decided to call it a night to and web swing over here, getting here before her.

Peter simply shrugged at the defense, he honesty didn’t care that Kitty was here, her company is always welcome, “So, what’s up,” he asked

“Oh, nothing much, just been thinking,” Kitty said with a sweet smile, that put Peter on guard, whenever Kitty has that sweet smile on, she is always up to something. Just then Peter hears the door close and lock behind him, he turned around and sees Gwen in front of the door, giving Peter a devious look.

“Hey Peter,” Gwen greeted

Peter is starting to get nervous now. Why were Gwen and Kitty together? Sure, they are friends, much better friends than Kitty was with Mary Jane. But why are they here together giving him matching smiles. He hasn’t seen those smiles since…it then occurs to him of the last time he saw those smiles. No! They wouldn’t! Not again!

“Peter, do you remember in high school when me, MJ, and Gwen all had lunch together,” Kitty asked

“Yeah, I remember,” Peter said

“It was very awkward,” Kitty said

“Extremely awkward, seriously Peter what were you thinking. Having your current girlfriend have lunch with your two ex-girlfriends,” Gwen said

“I really didn’t see the harm in it at the time,” Peter said

“That was your mistake, because as we talked, we all came to realize that we all had the same problem with you,” Kitty said

“My jokes? All three of you have told me I’m not as funny as I think. Which I would like to disagree with,” Peter said making both Kitty and Gwen grin.

“We’ll talk about your lame material later,” Kitty said

“Hey, I made you three laugh with my jokes,” Peter said but Kitty ignored him.

“But no, that is not the problem that we had. No, the problem we had was your hair Peter, it was just getting too long,” Kitty said

“And that’s when the three of us agreed that we had to fix that,” Gwen said

“You remember what happened then don’t you,” Kitty asked

“Yeah, I remember, you three lured me in the girl’s bathroom, and defiled my hair,” Peter said

“It needed cut Peter,” Kitty said

“Your head looked like a circle with your mask on,” Gwen said

“It needed cut, and we cut it, and I think we did a good job,” Kitty said

“Let’s agree to disagree on that one,” Peter said, looking back, that was not the best haircut. He will admit that as it grew a bit more, it did turn into a nice style for him.

“It’s not like we ever gave a haircut before,” Gwen said

“For three untrained girls I think we did pretty good for our first try,” Kitty said

“Why, are we talking about this,” Peter asked

“Because Peter, I may not be changing your Spider-Man outfit, and I can live with that, for now, but me and Gwen still have that same problem that we had years ago. And now, it’s time to fix that,” Kitty said as she revealed a familiar bag. Peter recognized that bag, it was the same bag that Kitty, MJ, and Gwen had when they cut his hair. OH SHIT.

“Come here Peter, we got work to do,” Kitty said with a devious smile.

“Um, no,” Peter said with that to runs toward the window, with his enhanced speed there is no way either would get to him, but right when he was a foot from said window, before he jumps out, Peter is stopped, and then is lifted in the air by a force bubble, “Wait! What! Hang on a second,” Peter said as he recognizes the bubble, “Oh no, you didn’t.”

Kitty threw Peter a smirk, “Oh, we did,” she responded, she then turned to the hall, “Come on out girls.” Just then Sue, Storm, and Jessica all walk out from the hall.

“Storm! Sue! Jessica! What the hell,” Peter explained

“I knew that you would resist, so I made sure to bring some more help,” Kitty said

“And we’re happy to help with this problem,” Sue said

“What is up with you women and my hair, seriously what did my hair do to you,” Peter said

“Gwen, the chair,” Kitty said

“Got it,” Gwen said as she got a chair, Kitty then moved the coffee table to the side leaving space for Gwen to place the chair in the room.

“Sue,” Kitty said, with that Sue led the bubble to the chair and then deactivated her powers, releasing Peter and making him drop on the chair. “Jessica,” Kitty said, just then Jessica ties Peter to the chair with her webs.

“Seriously Jessica, and here I thought we were gonna start out with a loving brother sister relationship,” Peter said getting a shrug from Jessica.

“From what I hear, it’s a sister’s job to annoy their brother. I’m just doing what sisters do,” Jessica who is now wearing a blue sweater, and black jeans said grinning, making Peter scowl in response.

“Sue,” Kitty said, having Sue place a force bubble around Peter’s chair just in case he thought of breaking it. “Good, now let’s get started,” Kitty said, she and Gwen then started to get out what they needed.

“Wait! Wait! Can’t we talk about this,” Peter said

“Hm, no,” Kitty said

“I’ve been keeping my hair at a constant length and at the same style since I left. I’ve made sure that it hasn’t gotten out of control and kept it tamed. Is this really necessary,” Peter said

“Yes,” the girls said

“But my head doesn’t look like a circle when I wear the mask, I checked and you saw, so there is no need for you to give me a haircut,” Peter said

“There is always a need,” Kitty said as she dug through the bag.

“KITTY YOU WILL NOT CUT MY HAIR SO RELEASE ME RIGHT NOW,” Peter demanded with a serious face, all Kitty did was take out some clippers, turn them on, and smirked at him. Once he saw that Peter deflated immediately, “Please Kitty, don’t cut my hair, please,” Peter begged, it took everything Kitty had to not burst out laughing of how desperate Peter looked right now, and all because of a haircut.

“Sorry Peter, but this has to be done,” Kitty said as she and Gwen closed in on him with their instruments in hand.

“No, no, NOOOOOOOOOO,” Peter said

And so, the first fight that Peter had since becoming Spider-Man again was against Kitty, Gwen, Jessica, Sue, and Storm. He tried to put up a good fight, but in the end, he lost, and it cost him something precious.

Chapter Text

Monday, December 12, 2019, 9:00 am, Xavier Institute 

In the kitchen of the Xavier Institute three women are busying themselves making breakfast. These three women are Ororo Munroe, Jean Grey, and Kitty Pryde who is currently leading the two in this endeavor. Now why were the three women in the kitchen making breakfast when the students are currently at school. Well, that’s simple because this isn’t any ordinary breakfast, this is a welcome home breakfast for Peter. It was all Kitty’s idea; she believes that Peter needs a bit more than a party that was just thrown together. No, he needed something planned, that is why last night when she and the girls were waiting for Peter, she offered up a breakfast that is just them all. The others thought that it was a good idea, another excuse to get together and hangout, and help Peter catch up on everything. It will get everyone together and Peter will also enjoy it, especially considering that she’s making him his favorite breakfast. Or she would be if it wasn’t for one problem.

“Where’s the milk,” Kitty asked as she slammed the refrigerator closed.

“The students used the rest of it this morning,” Ororo said, she was currently at the stove scrambling some eggs. Kitty gave an exaggerated groan at the news.

“Why do you need milk,” Jean asked as she was making bacon, wondering how she let herself get talked into this. Don’t get her wrong, she’s happy that Peter is alive, he’s a good kid. But didn’t they celebrate yesterday with the party that they threw? Then again, this is Kitty, and everyone who knows Kitty, knows how she feels about Peter.

“I need milk for the chocolate chip pancakes that I was gonna make,” Kitty answered.

“And why do we need chocolate chip pancakes,” Jean asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Because chocolate chip pancakes, with crispy bacon, and pulp orange juice is Peter’s favorite breakfast,” Kitty answered, looking at Jean as if the answer should have been obvious to her. “We need milk, I can’t make pancakes without milk.”

Just then Bobby Drake comes walking in the kitchen, and smells the air, “Damn, something smells good,” Bobby said

“BOBBY,” Kitty exclaimed once she saw her ex-boyfriend, “I’m glad that you’re here, I need you to go to the store.”

“The store,” Bobby asked

Kitty quickly walked toward the covert to check if she had everything she needed excluding the milk, “Yeah, we’re out of milk, and we need it. So, I need to go to the store, buy some 2% and come back,” Kitty said as she got out the ingredients.

“But I was going to play some videogames, I only came in here for some orange juice,” Bobby said

“OH, yeah, get some orange juice too, make sure it has pulp. Remember Peter likes pulp,” Kitty said

“But I hate pulp,” Bobby argued

Kitty looked at Bobby annoyed, “Well this breakfast isn’t about you Bobby. It’s about Peter, you know Peter right, the guy who saved your ass from the Green Goblin and his Sinister Six, Peter the guy who has been six feet under for two years, and who you haven’t seen in nearly three years. You remember him right,” Kitty said

“Yes, I remember, but I was gonna practice Smash Bros. so I can kick Peter’s butt,” Bobby said

“You can do that after you get the milk and juice,” Kitty said

“But…,” Bobby said but was interrupted.

“Bobby, unless you want me to use my increased density to crack your balls like a nutcracker does walnuts then you’ll do as I say and go get the milk and juice,” Kitty said with a completely serious face, showing that she wasn’t kidding.

Bobby gulped at the threat, “So 2% and pulp, right,” Bobby asked, the question made Kitty brighten up and she nodded her head, “Ok, I’ll be right back.” With that Bobby turned around and walked out of the kitchen.

Seeing Bobby leave Kitty went to the stove herself, turned on a burner, she got out a pan, sat it on a burner, greased it up, she then got an egg, cracked it, and opened it up letting the yoke hit the pan.

“You scared him, you know that,” Ororo said as she worked on her dish.

Kitty cracked another egg and opened the shell, letting the yoke hit the pan, “Yeah, well he should have just done what I asked and not argued; besides we need that milk and juice,” Kitty said

Ororo smiled at Kitty, “For Peter’s breakfast right,” she said

“Right,” Kitty agreed. She then looked at Ororo who was looking at her in amusement, “What?”

“Oh nothing, this just seems like a lot for someone who has been alive for over a year,” Ororo said

“Yeah, well he didn’t have a proper back to life celebration, so I’m giving it to him,” Kitty said

“You’re giving it to him,” Ororo repeated, not in offense or indignation but amusement as shown by her smirk.

“We’re, we’re giving it to him,” Kitty corrected

“We did give him a party yesterday,” Jean said

Kitty scoffed at that, “Oh, yeah, a party that we all just threw together out of the blue is certainly a good way to show our joy. No way, no way, it is not enough. This breakfast, certainly will be though, it’ll show just how much we all missed him,” she said

“But Kitty, haven’t you spent a year with him? Perhaps this is less showing gratitude that he’s alive and more you trying to tell him something,” Ororo said

Kitty suddenly gets nervous, “And what would I be trying to tell him,” she asked

“Oh, I don’t know, perhaps that you still love him,” Ororo said making Kitty tense, but she then forced her body to relax.

“Love? What are you talking about? I’m just showing my best friend how happy I am that he is alive,” Kitty said, she then looked at Ororo and Jean to see that neither believed her.

“You can’t fool us Kitty, ever since you two first entered a relationship we’ve known that you were in love with Peter,” Ororo said

“R-really,” Kitty asked, getting nods from Jean and Ororo.

“Kitty, I’ve looked in Peter’s head, I saw your reunion, and the times that you spent together. The times that you looked at him, even if Peter didn’t see it, I did. You love him,” Jean said

“Am I, that obvious,” Kitty asked, getting nods from the two X-Men making her sigh, “Fine, it’s true, I am in love with Peter.”

“Why don’t you tell him,” Ororo said

“Ororo, even when we were together, we weren’t at the I love you stage. Yes, I did fall in love with him, I mean who wouldn’t, but I was never sure if he felt the same. It terrified me, and it still does,” Kitty said

“Then don’t tell him you love him, just tell him that you like him as more than a friend,” Ororo said

“I can’t do that either,” Kitty said

“And why not,” Ororo said

“Peter and MJ had just broken up, I’m afraid that if I do tell him and we get together. I would just be a rebound; I don’t want that. My heart couldn’t take that,” Kitty said

“Kitty…,” Ororo said

“I’m not saying that I may not. I just need to see if Peter’s feelings are genuine. If they are, then I wouldn’t be opposed to restarting our relationship. But till then, I’m happy to be his best friend,” Kitty said with that Kitty got back to making breakfast, but now the subject of her feelings for Peter on her mind.

Meanwhile, At a New York City Graveyard

Peter who is sporting his new haircut (Think of the haircut that he had in Kitty’s fantasy when he is proposing to Kitty.) was at the graveyard visiting some people who he hadn’t seen in a while. Today is the day where the original Spider-Man will make his return. Peter thought that now would be an appropriate time to pay his respects to some people. One of the people who he decided to show his respects to was Mathew Murdock, also known as the vigilante Daredevil. Daredevil and he weren’t exactly on the greatest of terms in the beginning with the former thinking the latter should quit being a hero. Honestly, Peter isn’t entirely sure what the terms between them were, he does know that Murdock had to have had some respect for him for him to recruit him in the team that he set up to kill the Kingpin (thankfully the killing thing didn’t happen, and Murdock was able to make him surrender). In the end it was hard for Peter to watch as Daredevil died in front of him, and him unable to do anything about it. Peter can only hope that in the afterlife Murdock has found peace.

Peter had spent a few more minutes in front of Mathew Murdock’s grave contemplating about him and reflecting until he decided to move on to another grave. Martha Osborn, Norman Osborn’s wife, Harry’s mother, and one of the first victims of the Green Goblin. Why Osborn would kill his own wife Peter didn’t know, perhaps at the time he wasn’t in his right mind, or maybe he just didn’t care who he hurt, he wanted to see how powerful he really was. Peter had only met Martha a few times, but he knew that she was a good woman, and that Harry loved her. When she was killed Harry really was crushed about it. Peter remembers when Harry told everyone who killed his mother, no one believed him at the time. Back then, the unknown was just make believe, unlike now. Now superheroes and supervillains are common, no one can deny anything nowadays.

Sighing, Peter moves on to the next grave, that grave being the grave of his best friend Harry Osborn. Peter can still remember Harry, and the times that they had together. He can remember times when he wondered whether he and Harry were even friends, but time had shown that they were friends, Peter can remember how Harry would encourage him at times when he himself had no confidence. He would tell him that he has a bright future ahead of him while some of the jocks highlights of their lives would be high school. Peter remembers when Harry was the Hobgoblin, he still can’t believe that his own father would do something like that to his son. Nevertheless, ‘Kill him. You deserved better than this Harry, you deserved better than to die at the hands of your father. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you. I’m sorry that I failed you. ’

Peter sighed, he decided to make a phone call, with that he took out his phone, dialed the number, clicked the call button, and put it up to his ear. He could hear the rings.

Xavier Institute

Kitty, who finally had the ingredients to make Peter’s pancakes, was at the stove flipping the pancakes to get them nice and even, making sure that none of them were burnt as she set them on the plate. She made sure to make Peter’s plate, it had two chocolate chip pancakes, three slices of bacon, a glass of orange juice, and the maple syrup at the table. Just then she heard her phone ring. Kitty got out her phone and sees Peter’s picture. Once she sees the picture Kitty answered the phone and put it to her ear, “Hey Peter what’s up,” Kitty greeted

“Hey Kitty, I was wondering, if you don’t mind, could you accompany me when I make my return. I’m a little nervous, I don’t want to mess up,” Peter asked nervously

When hearing this Kitty smiled, it makes her happy that Peter is asking her this, it shows just how much he trusts her. Trusts her to be there to catch him if he falls, “Sure Peter, I’d love to,” Kitty said, she’ll always catch him, no matter what.

“Thanks Kitty,” Peter said

“Of course, where are you, I’ll meet you there,” Kitty said

“At the graveyard,” Peter answered

“The graveyard? Why are you there,” Kitty asked

“Just visiting some people,” Peter said

“Ok, well you just stay there, and I’ll find you,” Kitty said

“Sure, I’ll see you soon,” Peter said

“See you soon,” Kitty said, with that the two hung up, Kitty then looked at Storm and Jean, “I’m heading to Peter, we’re gonna patrol together, keep an eye on the news, so you can see his big return.”

“Sure Kitty,” Ororo said

Smiling, Kitty picked up the breakfast plate that she made Peter and orange juice, went to the dining room, and set the plate and juice down on the table. After that, Kitty went to her room, got her Shroud suit, put it in a bookbag for safekeeping. She really needs an easier way to bring this with her. Kitty then swung that bag over her shoulder, exited her room, then exited the Institute, on her way to see Peter. She still wonders why he is at the graveyard at this time, guess she’ll ask when she sees him.

Later, at the graveyard

Kitty is walking through the graveyard on a lookout for Peter, when after another minute of looking, she spots him standing in front of one of the gravestones, he is looking at her, smiling, and waving. Kitty herself smiles and waves, she then walks up to where Peter is, and can clearly see the haircut that she and the girls had given him last night, and she has to say that they did a good job. Once she is close enough Kitty wraps her arms around Peter’s neck hugging him, “Hey Peter,” Kitty greeted

“Hey Kitty,” Peter greeted back as he returned the hug, “I’m glad you came.”

“Of course,” Kitty said as she pulled away and released the hug, “What are you doing here though?”

“Like I said, visiting some people,” Peter said as he then looked at the gravestone in front of him making Kitty look at it too, and when she does, she sees a familiar name.

Beloved Husband, Brother, Uncle, and Father
He will be missed.

Kitty couldn’t believe what she is seeing, this is the grave of Peter’s uncle, the same uncle who inspired him to become a hero, the same uncle whose death Peter blames himself for. She never thought that she would ever be here, but here she is, in front of his grave with Peter.

“Kitty, meet my Uncle Ben. Uncle Ben, this is Kitty Pryde my best friend, I’ve told you about her remember,” Peter said

Kitty smiled and blushed at the thought that Peter has told his late uncle about her when he visits. Kitty takes a step, “Hi, Mr. Parker,” Kitty greeted nervously.

Peter smiled at Kitty, “Returning as Spider-Man, I feel like that I needed to pay my respects to those who passed. To those that I failed, figure that it will help motivate me to do better than I did last time,” he said

“Peter,” Kitty said softly as she gave the revived hero a soft and supportive look, she then placed her hand on Peter’s arm, “You didn’t fail anyone Peter.”

“I did though, I failed Harry when I let Osborn beat him to death, and I failed Uncle Ben when I didn’t try stopping that robber,” Peter said

Realizing that this would just become one of those it’s his fault/it’s not his fault arguments that they tend to have, Kitty decides to drop it and simply hug Peter which he returns thankfully. “They’d be proud of you,” Kitty whispered

“You think,” Peter asked

As they pulled apart but didn’t release each other Kitty looked at Peter, “From what I had learned of Harry when we went to school together, and from what you have told me of your uncle, then yeah, they would be proud of you. I bet even now, your uncle is looking down smiling, your parents joining him I bet,” Kitty said as she smiled at Peter,

Seeing Kitty’s smile made Peter smile too, “Thanks Kitty, really,” he said

“It is my pleasure,” Kitty said

With that the two turned to his uncle’s gravestone with Peter’s arm around Kitty’s shoulder, they would stay there for a while longer until it was decided that it was time for Spider-Man to go on his first patrol in three years.

Later, Peter and Kitty were standing on top of a building both in their hero suits except the masks, “You ready for this,” Kitty asked

Peter took a deep breath, “Yeah, I’m ready,” he said

“Hey,” Kitty said, grabbing Peter’s hand in hers making him look at her, “Don’t worry, I’m gonna be there in case anything happens. It’s why you called me right?”

“Yeah,” Peter confirmed as he smiled at Kitty, “There’s no one who I’d trust more.” That makes Kitty smile, after that the two put on their masks, Kitty becoming Shroud, and Peter once again becoming the Ultimate Spider-Man, “Let’s move.” With that Spider-Man offered his arm out to Shroud who took it, allowing Spider-Man to wrap his arm around her, she does the same to him. Spider-Man then shot his web and swung them off the building.

Later, in a bank of New York

A bank alarm is going off and the person who caused the alarm to go off was Herman Shutz, also known as Shocker. He was currently robbing the bank, and everything was going well until one of the bank employees hit the alarm. Shocker now had the bank employee by the scruff of his shirt pinned against the table, “That was a bad move, now thanks to you I have the cops to worry about. I should turn your brain to mush right now,” Shocker said as he pointed one of his gloves at the employee.

“P…please, I…I have a family,” the bank employee said terrified

“You should have thought about that before you set off the alarms,” Shocker said getting ready to use his devices on the man, until he was interrupted.

“Let him go Shocker,” a female voice demanded, making Shocker look in order to see Shroud only ten feet away from him.

“Shroud,” Shocker exclaimed

“Put the cute guy down and give up,” Shroud said as she observed the guy, he is cute. She then looked back at Shocker.

“Or what? What are you gonna do,” Shocker said

“Well, I could do what I did the last time we ran into each other. You remember that right,” Shroud said making Shocker wince as he remembered the sound and pain of his arm breaking thanks to the heroine in front of him. It took him weeks to heal. Shroud saw the wince and smirked under her mask; she’ll admit that maybe breaking his arm with her increased density was a bit much. She wasn’t exactly in the best mood that day. That day was actually the day she and Jessica had that falling out. She was in a terrible mood and thought beating up bad guys could help her; Shocker was the first guy she encountered. It wasn’t even a fight, it was more her using him as a punching bag to take out her frustrations on, one of her hits she’s not sure which one broke his arm. She’ll admit to feeling bad about that, even though she returned as Shroud, she isn’t using that vigilante persona that she used in the beginning at least not entirely, she does bring it out when she’s angry or really needs to. But other than that, she acts pretty much how she acted when she went by Shadowcat. Speaking of, she might actually use that as her X-Men codename. “I could do what I did last time, but I think I’d rather give you a surprise.”

“A surprise,” Shocker said confused

Shroud nodded, “That’s right, I have a surprise for everyone, and I think they’re all gonna like it. Well except for you, you’ll hate it, all of you villains will hate it. It’s actually kind of funny that you would be the first person that he would face on his first day back,” she said

“WHAT IS THIS SURPRISE? WHO ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? TELL ME OR HE DIES,” Shocker said, threatening the scared man.

Shroud didn’t say anything, the only thing that she did was point up, making Shocker look up only to see to his surprise, shock, and horror, Spider-Man sticking to the ceiling, “Hey Herman,” Spider-Man greeting getting a scream from the villain. Just then Spider-Man shoots his webs at the villain and pulls him up to where they are looking at each other, “It’s been a long time hasn’t it?”

“H…how are you here? Your s…supposed to be dead,” Shocker said in a trembling voice.

“Yeah, well I decided that death just wasn’t for me. It was so boring, so I decided to come back to life so I could see you. Isn’t that great,” Spider-Man said, he then swung his web and threw Shocker across the room making him slam against the wall, Spider-Man then shot his webs at the villain, webbing him up and restraining him. Spider-Man then flipped down to the ground where Shroud walks up beside him, “And that is how things are done in Queens.”

“Come on, I saw the cops outside and news reporters, time to announce your big return,” Shroud said

Outside the bank

The police and reporters were all outside surrounding the bank, the police to make sure that Shocker didn’t get away. Each of them willing to give their lives to put him away and keep everyone safe, while the reporters are here to get a scoop, to see if the police will apprehend the criminal or if one of the heroes will do it. They can all see commotion happening in the bank, the police are ready to go in. But before anything can happen, the doors swing open and out comes the captive people, all of them shocked but happy. Seeing this the police collect the people and get them to safety, before anyone could question what happened, everyone sees Shroud phase through the doors. Seeing this the police and reporters knew what had happened. Just then, the police captain walked up to Shroud.

“Shroud,” the captain greeted

“Captain O’Riley,” Shroud greeted

Brigid O’Riley leader of the now defunct Terror Inc., ally to the Young Ultimates, after she, Terror Inc, and the Young Ultimates took down Renee Deladier, Brigid was promoted to Police Captain. Now under her new title Brigid tries to be friendly to all superheroes in the city. After working with the Young Ultimates, she thought the more allies that the police have, the better. She was one of the first people who welcomed the Xavier School and the X-Men to Central Park when they made the move, “You did good work,” Captain O’Riley complimented

“Thanks, but I’m not the one who saved them. I was just the distraction,” Shroud said

“Distraction,” Brigid repeated questioningly

Shroud nodded, she then looked and saw that there were news crews and photographers everywhere, ‘Perfect,’ she thought, Shroud then put her attention back on O’Riley. “Yeah, I was just the distraction, the real hero is inside and has Shocker in custody,” Shroud said

“And who is this hero,” Captain O’Riley asked

“It’s a surprise. Now if you’ll excuse me,” Shroud said as she stepped up on front of all the cameras, “CAN I HAVE EVERYONES ATTENTION, PLEASE,” Shroud said getting everyone’s attention on her, “Thank you, now I just want to say, New York has been going through some hard times lately. Ever since Spider-Man had gone missing, crime had gone up. I understand that some of you don’t feel safe, even though myself, the Human Torch, the Young Ultimates, as well as the other heroes try our best to protect you, sadly there is no replacement for Spider-Man, either one of them,” Shroud said getting a few solemn looks from the crowd at the mention of the first Spider-Man. “Not a lot of people realized but Spider-Man played an integral part in New York’s safety, he kept a lot of bad guys at bay, and now that there is no Spider-Man, the bad guys think that they can run free. Well, I got news for everyone who is watching this, the bad guys won’t be running free for long, we lost one Spider-Man and we gained another, and he did an excellent job at filling his shoes. Now we lost him, we don’t know where he is, we don’t know if he is alive or not. But that doesn’t mean you villains are safe, your anything but safe, because even though we once again lost a hero, another hero has taken his place, or should I say stepping back in, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I PRESENT TO YOU THE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN,” Shroud said and with that Spider-Man came swinging through the doors while carrying Shocker fireman style. Everyone in the audience gasp in shock at what they see.

“Hey everybody,” Spider-Man greeted

“It…it can’t be,” Captain O’Riley said, totally stunned at the revelation.

“It can, and it is. For those of you that are watching this now, THE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN IS BACK,” Spider-Man declared

With the Ultimates

Tony Stark and Janet are watching the TV eyes wide, and mouths open in shock at what they have seen. Snapping out of it, Tony radios Captain America, “Cap, are you watching the news right now,” he asked

“I am Tony, I am,” Steve Rogers answered as he saw the image of the person who had been haunting him for years.

At an abandoned warehouse

Norman Osborn in his human form was watching the same newsfeed, and couldn’t help but give a sinister grin, “So you finally reveal yourself. This time when I kill you, it will be permanent,” he said

At Xavier Institute

The X-Men, Johnny, Sue, Ben, their baby, Jessica, May, and Gwen were all watching the news at well. May gave a proud smile at her nephew’s declaration, she is really proud of him for stepping back up as Spider-Man.

“He’s always so theatrical,” Gwen commented as she smirked.

“Hard to believe, he’s my brother,” Jessica said

“This is the start of a new era. Not just for the X-Men, but for everyone,” Storm said

“Agreed,” Sue said as she held her child in her arms.

They all continue to watch as Spider-Man is crowded by reporters, all of them asking him questions.

Later

Peter and Kitty were walking down the campus of the Xavier Institute, both talking about what happened with his reveal, “That was a pretty good buildup, you did,” Peter said

“Thanks, I thought it was necessary. You didn’t want your reveal to be anything but Ultimate right,” Kitty said getting a face from Peter, “That didn’t work, did it?”

“No, it didn’t, Ultimate is a word that must be used carefully,” Peter said

Kitty groaned, “You should have just used Amazing, or Sensational, or Spectacular, would have been much easier,” Kitty said

“Amazing Spider-Man was used a few times, but after that I stuck with Ultimate Spider-Man,” Peter said

“Hm, maybe I should have something in front of my name, the Ultimate Should. That doesn’t sound too bad,” Kitty said

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on a second. You are not stealing my shtick. Ultimate is my thing,” Peter said

“I don’t remember you getting the rights to it,” Kitty said making Peter scowl.

“Oh, I’ll get the rights, believe me I am not making the same mistake that I did with Kingpin. Just wait, I’m gonna own the Spider-Man name, and Ultimate,” Peter said making Kitty snort.

“You’re gonna have to get some money to do that, and you still don’t have steady income,” Kitty said smirking making Peter scowl again.

Peter and Kitty walk up to the doors of the institute, opened them, and entered the institute. The couple then walked down the hall, and Peter sniffed the air, something smelt good, “What’s that smell? Smells good,” Peter said

Kitty smiled, glad that Peter said that “It’s breakfast,” she answered

“Breakfast,” Peter asked as he and Kitty stopped at a door.

“Yep, breakfast,” Kitty said, opening the door to show a dining room that had all kinds of breakfast foods on the table. There were eggs, scrambles, Sunnyside, medium, etc. there were pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, etc. it was unbelievable, and at the table to his surprise are all his friends and family, Aunt May, Gwen, Jessica, Johnny, Ben, Sue holding a baby, and the X-Men.

“What’s all this,” Peter asked as he and Kitty walked in the dining room. To say Peter was surprised would be an understatement, he didn’t think that he would see everyone together this soon.

“This is your welcome back breakfast,” Gwen said

“Welcome back breakfast,” Peter said laughing a bit, “You guys gave me quite a party yesterday, you didn’t have to do a breakfast.”

“Yes, well Kitty insisted, she said that you deserved more than a party that was just thrown together. She said that you needed something planned,” Ororo explained making Peter look at Kitty who blushed a bit at the attention, but seeing the smile that he is giving her makes her heart flutter and makes it worth it.

“Thank you,” Peter said looking at Kitty making her blush deepen, Peter then looked at everyone in the room, “Thank you guys, really this means a lot.”

“Come on,” Kitty said grabbing Peter’s hand, “Let’s go sit down, and eat,” Kitty then led Peter to the chair that she sat his plate in front of earlier.

Peter pulled out his chair and sat down with Kitty sitting down on the chair next to him. Once he sat down Peter notices the plate in front of him, and his eyes widened at in surprise of what is on the plate, “No way,” Peter said

“Way,” Kitty responded, “Chocolate chip pancakes with maple syrup, crispy bacon, and pulp orange juice. Your favorite,” Kitty said

“Kitty made each of these herself,” Ororo said

“All for you Peter,” Jean said smirking making Peter smile and look at Kitty again, he is touched that Kitty would do this for him.

Seeing Peter look at her again with that cute smile that she always loved seeing on him made Kitty blush more, she also can’t help but curse Ororo and Jean for giving her all the credit. She doesn’t want her feelings for Peter to be too noticeable yet, she wants to wait and see if he really has moved on from Mary Jane. So far Peter hasn’t shown any broken heartedness toward his breakup. So that is a good sign she supposes, but she needs more proof than that.

Everyone then started to eat the still warm meal, eventually conversation started and the first topic was the obvious one, “Dude, what the heck happened to your hair,” Bobby asked chuckling at seeing Peter’s haircut.

Peter scowled, “She happened,” he said pointing toward Kitty who was making a bite of her food.

“Hey, I can’t take all the credit now. I mean, I’d like to believe me I would, but I did have some help,” Kitty said

“You let her cut your hair? I thought that you said that you would never let Kitty, Gwen, or MJ cut your hair ever again. Not after that disaster they gave you the first time,” Johnny said

“HEY,” Kitty and Gwen said offended that their hard work on Peter’s first hair cut was insulted.

“Like Kitty said, she had help,” Peter said glaring at the people who had conspired with Kitty and Gwen which just made them giggle.

“Oh, come on Peter, it’s not that bad. I actually think that it’s cute,” Kitty said honestly as she then rubbed her hand through Peter’s hair, “Although, I wish I could have done a little less on this side.”

“Hey,” Peter said pulling back, “I think that you’ve assaulted my hair enough.”

“Assaulted,” Gwen said chuckling, “You act like that we committed a crime, Peter.”

“I liked that hair style,” Peter said

“I think that you needed a haircut,” May said

“Aunt May,” Peter whined

“And I think that Kitty did a good job,” May commented

Kitty smiled, “Thanks Aunt May, I wish that I could take all the credit, but Gwen did help me,” she said

Gwen shook her head, “I only helped when you asked, which frankly wasn’t often. I honestly just sat back and watched as you gave Peter a 100% Kitty Pryde haircut,” she said

“Why didn’t you try escaping,” Bobby asked

“He did, in the beginning when he saw the bag he made a dash for the window,” Kitty said

“That’s when I enveloped him in a forcefield,” Sue added

“Gwen then cleared the area and set down a chair. When Peter was on the chair, I wrapped him up with my webbing,” Jessica said

“Then I put the chair and his entire body minus his head and neck in a forcefield,” Sue said

“After that Kitty and Gwen got out the supplies for Peter’s haircut,” Ororo said

“He was so desperate not to have a haircut, it was so hilarious,” Gwen said giggling, the other women giggled two at the memory.

“It was a conspiracy,” Peter said making everyone laugh

“In the end, his struggles were useless, because Peter got his haircut and I’d like to say that it is a good one too,” Kitty said

“It is a nice haircut,” Piotr said

Johnny snorted, “You’ll never see that happen to me,” he commented

“Oh, really Johnny? Because Sue was just saying last night that she thinks that your hair is getting too long,” Kitty said making Johnny tense.

“She was thinking that maybe we should do something about it,” Gwen said a devious smirk appearing on her face.

“You wouldn’t,” Johnny said terrified now.

“We would,” the women said making Jonny even more scared which made Bobby laugh, he then took a drink of his orange juice.

“I don’t know what you’re laughing at Bobby, you’re next,” Kitty said

Bobby then spat out all of his orange juice at the news, “What! But why,” he asked

“Your hair is too long, and we would like it much shorter,” Ororo answered

“We let Gwen pick out what style to give you,” Kitty said

Gwen then looked at Bobby with an evil smile that sent chills up his spine, “You’re all mine Drake,” she said making Bobby gulp.

“But I don’t want to be yours,” Bobby said in a small, quivering, and scared voice

Deciding that the women have scared the guys enough and to save himself from a possible haircut, Ben decided to switch topics, “That was some reveal you did there Pete,” he said

“You think,” Peter said

“The Ultimate Spider-Man is back. Real dramatic, also a little cliché, don’t you think. I mean how many times had that kinda thing been done on TV,” Johnny said

“Well, excuse me but it seemed pretty appropriate, especially considering I had no idea what to say to all those people,” Peter said

“You’ve had this idea of returning and yet you didn’t think of what you were gonna say to everyone,” Gwen said

“Yeah, sounds about right,” Peter said taking a bite of his bacon making Kitty giggle.

“We were lucky to get out of there with our masks on,” Kitty said

“I forgot how vicious the media could be,” Peter said

“You will eventually have to answer their questions though, or they’re gonna keep hounding you,” Kitty said

“I know that, and I will eventually. I just have to figure out what to say,” Peter retorted

Gwen shook her head, “Should have figured this out before you made your big return. Too late now,” she said

“Perhaps I can help you with that,” a voice said getting the group’s attention only to show none other than…

“Nick Fury,” Peter said in surprise.

“Peter, it’s been a long time,” Fury greeted
