Work Text:
“Don’t worry darling,” Jungkook can see the others comforting Jimin in the living room from where he stands in the hallway. He couldn’t quite hear what they were talking about before as he was still sluggish from sleep, but he’s confused as to why they didn’t come to get him. He briefly decides to go back into his room to go to sleep instead of going to get a glass of water as he had initially planned.
Nothing was going right tonight though. This was supposed to be one of their stupid sleepovers where they could just hang out with each other after weeks of being so busy. Normally they would be able to cuddle up to each other and just fall asleep like that, but the other 6 wanted to lay out the air mattresses to be more comfortable. They had decided on laying them out in Yoongi’s room as it was slightly larger than his own room and better for something as large as the mattresses to be in there rather than the living room.
The only problem with this was that by the time Jungkook had gotten back to the room with his pillow in one hand and his blanket in the other, “There’s no more room Jungkookah, sorry.” Which was just answered with an, “oh it’s fine hyung, no worries.” But as he padded out of the room, he expected someone to follow him to his room so they could sleep together instead of letting Jungkook be by himself.
So, in reality, when Jungkook woke up to this, he wasn’t quite as surprised as he thought he would have been. They had probably just forgotten about him because he wasn’t in the same room as them. That was normal. But as he lay in bed, hearing the soft voices coming from the end of the hallway, he should’ve known the feeling that was making his stomach twist and turn like it was, wasn’t just an act of jealousy.
"Now just because they were there without you it doesn't mean that they're up to anything bad Kook!" That morning when Jungkook woke up he was still feeling that burning in his chest. He couldn't handle it anymore and he wanted to talk to someone about it.
The first person he thought of being Kim Mingyu. He had practically grown up with Mingyu, they were the same age and always in the same class, so naturally, they knew each other. Once getting to college, away from their hometown, they realized that they were both at the same uni and stuck together quite often. Jungkook was glad he made this decision because he couldn't ask for a better friend.
"No, I know that Gyu, but c'mon! Did they really not want me there? What happened?" Jungkook asked with a pout sounding in his voice.
"Maybe they had tried to wake you up but you wouldn't budge. We all know how you get when someone tries to wake you up," Mingyu responded. "And don't even try fighting me on that. Be reminded that I lived with you for a year, and you would never wake up to your alarms."
"That was two years ago, Gyu! I've changed."
"Sure Kook. But that's not the point. You need to talk to them, ok? I appreciate you coming to me when you need something, but they're your boyfriends. They're the ones you need to be talking to, not me. Now, I gotta go, tell me what happens," Mingyu says before hanging up.
"Yup, for sure. I'll tell you what happens when I confront my six boyfriends about something that they don't even know I know about," Jungkook says under his breath before flopping down on the bed under him.
Suddenly he hears a knock on the door. Knowing it's one of the six other people in the house right now he panics. What if they had heard what he was saying?
He gets up from his bed going to the door to open it. "I just wanted to let you know that the others already left. They had some stuff to do today," Yoongi says before giving his boyfriend a quick peck then leaving.
Jungkook glances at the clock sitting next to his bed. 9:34. Why had they not told him they were leaving? And so early? In these situations, it's hard for him to not get in his own head, but he can't help but think they just don't want him there. He knows it seems childish, but he just can't help it.
He goes back to the bed, letting out a muffled groan due to his face being smashed into the mattress. Why does everything always seem to work against him?
He takes Mingyu’s words into consideration. “Talk to them.” Yes, logically he knows that he’s going to have to do that, it’s just a matter of not wanting to. Everything that comes with talking about emotions just isn’t appealing to him. The fact that he is also not in a regular relationship doesn’t help. Yes, they had been dating for a while at this point, but it’s the way that if he wants to talk to one person, that one person begins to turn into 6.
And he loves each one of them, don’t get him wrong, but he’s just scared. He’s so fucking scared to bring anything up and they think he’s ridiculous and they don’t take him seriously, because that will hurt him so much. And he doesn’t want to have to deal with that. Everything that comes with him feeling bad, the moment they realize that he’s hurt, to the making it up to him. But they should realize how the words will affect him before they say it.
He doesn’t know where he is getting this from, but it’s so painful. He knows that these boys will never do that to him. They love him and he loves them. No problem in that whatsoever. It just feels weird to him.
He hears Yoongi calling his name from the kitchen and he gets up from his bed, letting out a long drawn-out sigh. It’s not like him to be this easily disturbed by everything, and it’s starting to really bother him.
He sits down at the table, mumbling a small “thank you” as he begins eating his breakfast. It’s fairly silent. Jungkook’s staring off into space and Yoongi, recognizing this, leaves him alone.
As they both finish, Jungkook gets up and takes his and Yoongi’s plates to the sink. Yoongi stands behind him, wrapping his arms around Jungkook and resting his chin on his shoulder. “Let hyung take care of the dishes. You have class today.” And Jungkook can’t help but relax into Yoongi’s arms and just stay there for a little bit. It’s times like these when he can’t help but let the world fall away.
He turns his head to face his boyfriend’s, leaning in to give him a small kiss. “I love you hyung,” he mumbles against his lips. “I love you too Kookah.”
Jungkook turns away, escaping Yoongi’s arms. “I’m gonna go get ready.”
He’s sitting towards the back of the lecture room, his head resting on his hand. He’s not paying attention like he’s supposed to, but he already knew that would happen. He just couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. That he did something wrong. Why else would the others have been completely ignoring his existence?
They were perfectly fine last night. When they had first gotten to his and Yoongi’s shared apartment they were all laughing and having a good time. Everyone was talking to Jungkook, everyone was acting fine. But then why all of a sudden would they have been acting like that?
He feels stupid though. Acting like what? Maybe Mingyu was right, they had tried to wake him up but he was uncaring so they gave up. It made sense, it did but why couldn’t he get himself to believe it?
And this morning as well. They had stuff to do and if Jungkook was on the phone they weren’t going to interrupt him to say bye when Yoongi could’ve done it for them. God, he’s so dumb. Why is he getting so worked up over nothing?
“-kook. Jungkook?” He jerks his head towards the sound of Mingyu’s voice. “Pay attention, everyone’s looking at you.” Jungkook looks around at the full classroom and sees all the eyes practically glaring into his soul. He bows his head in a small apology. People start turning around, the occasional person still staring.
He turns his head down to the desk that sits in front of him. Today is going to be a horrible day.
“So. Have you talked to them yet?” Mingyu asks him. Jungkook doesn’t verbally respond but instead gives him a look. “I’ll take that as a no,” he says with a small laugh.
“It’s not that I didn’t want to.” He starts off but Mingyu gives him a look. “Shut up. Lemme finish.”
“I didn’t say anything,” Mingyu says with a shrug.
“Anyways. Maybe I didn’t want to talk to them, but I didn’t even get the chance to do it in the first place. As soon as you hung up Yoongi hyung knocked on my door and told me they had all left.” Jungkook says. He looks away with a pout and Mingyu suddenly stops. “What?”
“Do you seriously have no idea what could be happening? They wouldn’t leave you out of anything. I don’t know if you’ve seen the way they look at you, but I have. Kook, they’re so incredibly in love with you. Believe me.”
“I know they are. I really do believe you I just can’t. And I know I need to talk to them but. I don’t know. I’ll try.”
“Okay. I trust you Kook, and I know you trust them. Nothing bad will happen.” Mingyu puts his hand on Jungkook’s shoulder before walking away.
“Nothing bad will happen,” Jungkook mutters before making his way back to the apartment.
He hears laughs coming from inside the apartment. Why does he hear laughs? He grabs the key from inside his pocket and with a shaky hand, he unlocks the door.
He doesn’t know what he was expecting really but it wasn’t this. They’re all just sitting in the middle of the couch, just like last night, huddled together, whispering and laughing. But it all stops when Jungkook walks in the door. They’re all staring at him, and he’s staring right back at them.
“Hey,” he says curtly. They’re all looking at him blankly. “Nice chat guys,” he says before walking off to his room.
“Kookah.” he hears before he slams the door shut. He sits on the edge of his bed, then flops down onto it. His shorts ride up to show his mid-thigh. It reminds him of the small tattoo Taehyung has on his thigh.
The little 7 that all of them share. Each of them has tattoos in different places. Places they cherish on each other. He pulls his shorts back down and then rolls over onto his stomach. “Talk to them,” he mimics in Mingyu’s voice. “How am I meant to do that? Go fuck yourself,” he says before groaning.
He’s truly too stubborn for this. It’s not entirely his fault though. At least he’d like to think so. They were the ones having some secret meeting, whispering to each other and being all lovey and shit, but as soon as Jungkook came in, they stopped. In no way is that Jungkook’s fault. If they don’t wanna talk to him, then fine. They don’t have to. He doesn’t need them.
“Jungkook? Baby? Can I come in?” He knows it’s Jimin. He wants to ignore it so badly but he can’t. It’s practically impossible for him to ignore any of them.
A soft “Hyung,” is all it takes before Jimin is opening the door and rushing over to Jungkook’s bed. They’ve always been weak for their youngest, so when he sounded as though he was in pain or if he was struggling, if any small inconvenience were to ever arise, it would be “hyung’ll do it.”
“We were waiting for you to get home, love. I promise. I know it looks bad ok?”
“Yeah, it looks bad that you were all having fun and talking and laughing, but ‘oh we must stop because Jungkook is here,’ and ‘let’s not answer Jungkook either, and make him feel even worse.’” Jungkook grumbles into the pillow.
“Love, what do you mean ‘feel worse’? What happened? Kook, what’s going on? Please talk to me.”
“Don’t pretend like you care.”
“Of course I care. What are you going on about?” Jimin asks. But Jimin is just met with silence. “If you’re going to be a child then I’m leaving.” Once again silence. Jimin gets up from the bed and walks to the door. He waits a moment to see if Jungkook will respond and then leaves.
Jimin returns to the living room with a sigh. “I don’t know what to tell him. I told you guys we need to stop coming here. The risk is too high. If he finds out we’re dead.”
“I agree with Min. There are other apartments we could go to.” Hoseok says. They all are still sitting on the couch thinking about what happened.
“I know but if Jungkook comes home early and I’m not here, he’ll know something is up.”
“Yoongi-ah he already knows something is up with the way we acted when he came in.”
Yoongi groans. He knows, they all know. This is a mess really. It was all supposed to be a little surprise for their youngest boyfriend. They knew he would love it but they still had a few things to work out. A few small details and it was difficult to work it out if they couldn’t actually see and talk to each other.
It was also incredibly difficult keeping everything from Jungkook but they had to do it. "Hyung you know it's for the best."
"I know Namjoonah."
But what none of them knew was that Jungkook had been listening to every word that had spilled out of their mouths. If he hadn't felt hurt or betrayed before, then he sure as hell did now.
"Gyu." Jungkook says through his tears, "They hate me. They hate me," and he's practically sobbing now.
"Jungkook. Jungkook no. Where are you? I'll come get you."
"No. No, they hate me," Jungkook wails.
"They do not hate you. Please listen to me. They love you so much. Trust me. I don't know how much I'll have to tell you this, but I'll do it until you believe me."
But Jungkook isn't listening anymore. He keeps rambling on about how much they hate him. The only words coming out of his mouth being "no" and "they hate me." Mingyu doesn't know what to do. He thinks about hanging up or going to the apartment, but he realizes he doesn't really know where it is. He doesn't have any of Jungkook’s boyfriend's numbers, so he has no way of asking them to check up on Jungkook.
"Kook? Is anyone there with you? Is your Yoongi hyung there?" Mingyu asks frantically. Jungkook is still muttering to himself. "Jungkook!" Mingyu practically yells. Jungkook’s rambling suddenly stops but you can still hear the small sniffles as he tries to calm down. "Please answer me," he says, this time a lot more calmly.
"Hyung is here," Jungkook says quietly.
"Please go talk to him. I'm begging you.”
“Ok,” Jungkook whispers. He hangs up the phone, knowing that Mignyu can no longer help him. He wipes his face quickly before getting off his bed where he was previously lying. He practically falls back to the bed at the splitting headache that greets him. He presses the palm of his hand to his head and waits a moment. I can do this, he thinks.
He takes small steps to the door of his room and he takes a deep breath. He opens the door, making sure his breathing is normal and that he’s not on the verge of a breakdown again. “Hyung?” Jungkook mumbles. He makes his way out of the boundaries of his room and looks around.
He doesn’t see Yoongi in the living room or the kitchen, so he assumes he either left the apartment in the middle of his little episode or that he’s in his own room. He walks up to the door quietly and knocks on the door. He doesn’t hear an answer.
At this point he could either open the door, just to check, or go back to his room. His hyung could be in the middle of making a track, therefore his headphones would be on and he wouldn’t be able to hear Jungkook quietly knocking on the door. But usually, if Jungkook was home he would leave the headphones only half on so he could hear if Jungkook needed anything.
He makes the decision to open the door, purely for his own sanity. Lo and behold there he is, not even at his desk, he’s on the bed, whispering into the phone. There’s no way in hell Yoongi hadn’t heard him knocking on the door. He must’ve chosen to ignore him. Jungkook closes the door, not wanting to barge into whatever conversation was going on.
He makes it back to his room with tears in his eyes. He closes the door, not wanting to lock it just in case Yoongi were to come and check on him. He pulls out the chair that was resting at his desk and plops down on it.
“You’re slouching.”
“Oh my fuck,” Jungkook says as he practically soars out the chair. “Hyung you can’t do that!”
“I can and I did,” Yoongi says as he makes his way to the younger’s bed. “Come here Kookah.” Jungkook makes his way over to the bed begrudgingly. “I think we need to talk about some things.”
“We? I think you mean you hyung.”
“You’re right,” Yoongi sighs. “Kook I know it seems bad, what we’re doing. And don’t say anything, I can see the look on your face right now, I know Jimin already told you this and you must think I’m lying. But I need you to know we would never do anything to hurt you. We all love you so much you have no idea.”
“Then tell me what’s going on. Hyung it hurts. When I walk into a room you stop talking, acting like I’m some kind of monster. And the other night you all kicked me out of your room. I thought somebody would come to sleep with me but no one came. And you were all out in the living room together when Jimin was crying. I came out and nobody even saw me. Hyung, just be honest. Please.”
“Baby, I am being honest. It was never my, or our, intention to hurt you. That night a lot was going on and as soon as you walked out the door everyone was practically dead asleep. We were all exhausted, I’m sorry. And it was never our intention to leave you out. Jimin was going through something, you know how he gets when he’s in his head and we didn’t want to wake you. We figured with how tired we all already were it would be best to let you get your sleep with class in the morning. I’m sorry Kook.”
“You promise?”
“I promise Kookah. I would never lie to you. I’d rather die than let you think any of that wasn’t true.”
“I love you hyung.”
“I love you too.”
“So what you’re saying is you think that Yoongi is lying to you? Hold on. Just give me a minute. You said, and I quote ‘he said he promised he wasn’t lying, he said he would rather die.’ and you still think he’s lying to you?”, Mingyu says exasperated.
“No, you wouldn’t get it. It was the way he said it. Yes, he’s always serious when he needs to be, but it was almost too serious. ‘I’d rather die,’ that’s not something he would say. And! He never calls me baby. It's always Kookah or Kook,” Jungkook says pulling on Mingyu’s arm.
“It’s just weird though. Why would he lie? What reason does he have to do that?”
“I don’t know but I’ll figure it out soon.”
"Seok, did you ever make sure the kitchen was done? Jin hyung texted me and he wants to know. Although I don't know why he didn't just text you."
"Taehyungie, he probably just wanted an excuse to talk to you. He's been bored all day and I told him yesterday that the kitchen was done." Hoseok explains.
"Ah, okay. Why don't we all just go down there today? Check on everything and make sure it's all good. It's easier that way."
"Okay, I'll text the others then," Taehyung says and then gives Hoseok a quick peck. "Go get the car started."
"You don't even know if they can go yet," Hoseok says with a laugh.
"I know, but none of you can say no to me," Taehyung says with a smirk.
"True. I'll be in the car then."
Taehyung picks up his phone and decides to call Jin. After all, he was the one who wanted to talk to him.
"What is this about Hoseok telling me you already knew the status of the kitchen?", he questioned as soon as the elder had picked up the phone. It was in their nature to tease each other and they all knew no one meant any harm by it. If there was a case in which someone felt hurt by what one of the others said, it would be addressed immediately.
It's in these ways that the seven of them are able to be together and not worry about anything happening. It's both a blessing and a curse, because yes, they talk about everything they need to, but sometimes you don't have the courage to bring something up. In the end it just further pushes down the need to talk about it. This all happens until it just blows up inside of you and you're trying to explain yourself through tears.
"I knew I shouldn't have asked him. I can't believe he told you that. I'll get him back for that later." Jin mutters under his breath.
“Yeah okay. You can talk about your little revenge plan later but for now, why don’t we all go out and just do something? We can all go to the apartment and finish up the surprise,” Taehyung laughs quietly.
“That sounds perfect love. I can’t wait for Kook to see it.” Jin says and Taehyung can hear the smile in his voice.
The mere thought of their youngest boyfriend makes Tae’s heart go crazy. They had all missed him dearly. The thing was, they were so caught up in trying to get everything perfect for him, for all of them, that they hadn’t spent any time with Jungkook in days. It was putting a toll on all of them, most of Jungkook who had no idea what was going on, but no one noticed.
Hoseok and Taehyung are the first to arrive at the apartment, which is perfectly reasonable as Jin said that he would pick up everyone else. They decided to wait in the parking garage for the others, knowing that Jin would know where to park.
In the past few days and weeks, they’ve come to the new apartment everything was honestly extremely odd. They’ve been so used to everything at the other apartments that they certainly weren’t used to having assigned parking spots or a fancy-ass lobby that looked more like a hotel than anything. It was all so strange they weren’t sure if they would like it but the upgrade was irresistible.
They wait a few more minutes in the car listening to whatever music was currently playing on the radio and just enjoying each other's company. As soon as they see the unmistakable silhouette of Jin’s car pull up right next to theirs they turn off the car.
They all follow each Jin, sort of like how ducklings would follow their mom, to the front door where he holds it open. They all group around the door to the elevator, keeping a normal distance for anyone who could be coming off. Taehyung takes Jin’s hand in his and when the door opens with a “ding” they both look at each other with the brightest smiles on their face. They truly couldn’t wait for Jungkook to see it.
Once everyone was off the elevator and at the door, Jimin took out the key to open the door of their almost home. He was practically jumping in place and Yoongi had to wrap his arms around his waist to settle him down. It was domestic, and it was sweet, and it felt like home to all of them.
As soon as all of them got a glance at the living room they were in love. Namjoon had been in charge of making the room feel homey and just like anything that all of them would love. They all had different styles but what made this project so simple was being able to combine each and everything they all wanted.
The huge couch sat right in the middle of the living room, easily big enough to fit all of them, a matching armchair just off to the side of it. There was a large flatscreen tv taking up most of the wall space with a large console table under it housing all of their games (which they knew Jungkook would adore). To the side of the tv was an enormous bookshelf, as to be expected when Namjoon was in charge. It was made of a beautiful brown wood and its shine of it was noticeable from across the room.
All of that was nothing compared to the amazing view from the window. The black trim matching the clear view straight into the most amazing garden. Namjoon had designed an amazing bench to sit directly under it, made of the same wood as the bookshelf and the same light gray of the sofa and armchair. The curtain truthfully tied everything together. It was a deep blue, the only bit of real color in the room, aside from the decorative pillows and blankets scattered across the couch.
They could also see into the spacious kitchen from the living room. Hoseok had done a beautiful job with the colors of the cabinets and the marble of the countertops. It was obvious that he had coordinated with Namjoon the colors of the living room so it would flow. It was smart of him to do that otherwise they could've ended up with a blue and gray living room and a pink and purple kitchen.
The cabinets were a dark blue, adorned with silver handles. It looked sleek and perfect. The silver fridge, the silver faucet, and the oven door. Everything matched so well and it looked so good which they weren’t surprised about in the slightest.
The dining area just off to the side of it he had also been in charge of. You could once again see the same wood used in the bookshelf on the table. It looked classic and timely. Everything just looked so well put together and they could not be prouder of both Namjoon and Hoseok for pulling this off.
There’s a hallway that splits off the dining and the kitchen which they all separate into. They had the idea of having individual workspaces which is exactly what they had created. This was easily the hardest yet easiest part of it all. Figuring out how to split up the space for the seven of them was challenging but they eventually made it work. They didn’t have any part of a room to match anything with so this area was completely theirs to mess around with.
They all met back together outside of Jungkook’s personal studio. They had no idea what he would want as he’s into so many things. In the end, they decided to leave it as mostly a blank canvas. There was only a small desk and chair in front of the window. They figured it would also be a good idea to remodel the room together as a fun date night type of thing.
They moved out of the hallway and across the room to the hallway next to the living room. This was the room they had anticipated the most. They really just wanted to know how their Jin hyung had gotten a bed big enough to fit all of them as well as sheets and pillows.
Yoongi however had enough of them just standing outside the door and finally opens it. They were all stunned. The room played with many cool tones that nobody would ever think to put together. The bed the size of two california kings that lay in the middle of the room was the furthest from their minds. There was a small seating area in front of a wall of windows, in the middle of which was a glass door leading to the balcony.
The soft gray of the walls played with a deeper sage green on the couch and the black desk and side tables. At the edge of the bed was a smaller flat screen tv on the wall and a faux fireplace under it. It obviously wasn’t an option to have a real one as they were in an apartment but the stone surrounding a pit with fake logs of wood would work for them. Everything just looked beautiful.
The bathroom was a whole other conversation. Whereas the bedroom looked comfy and warm the bathroom looked put together and was completely cool. The tiling on the floor was made to look like wood, the same wood running through most of the house. The walls a cool blue gray followed by a feature wall of cool gray bricks. In front of which lay a beautiful white marble bathtub. One wall was completely full of counter space and sinks. The wall opposite of that had an amazing walk in shower that was big enough to fit 10 people.
To say that they were all amazed by what they had all done was an understatement. Everything went together so well which was surprising as they had all designed the rooms (mostly) individually. They all talked about a few things that were missing once they had gone through the two other bedrooms. They were there in case someone wanted to be alone or if someone else needed to stay the night.
They all agreed that there needed to be a few changes which they would take care of later but for now, they wanted to take Jungkook out. It had been a while and they missed him a lot. It took a while to figure out how and when but they wanted to tell him about the whole apartment surprise tomorrow and then bring him over there when it was all finished. The few things they needed to be fixed really wouldn’t take long, they just had to get someone notified that night.
“I really couldn’t be happier about this,” Jimin says.
“Me neither. I can’t wait for Kook to see all of this.” Yoongi says with a huge smile on his face.
They all looked at each other with so much pure joy. Anyone looking at them would just think about how truly happy they all were with each other.
“Hey hyung what’s up?” Jungkook asks when he picks up the phone. It was weird for any one of them to be calling him when they knew he had just gotten out of class, especially because he was sure he had told them he was meeting up with Mingyu and his friends.
“Oh Kook, we were just wondering if you wanted to come to eat dinner with us? Well, I guess a late lunch and early dinner?”
“Um… one second hyung,” Jungkook says and drops his arm down. “Hey Gyu, the guys want me to meet up with them for such lunch dinner thing.”
“That’s fine, you can go we won’t force you to hang out with us.”
“No, Gyu I really don’t want to go.”
“Then why did you even say anything.”
“Ugh whatever,” Jungkook says then brings his phone back to his ear. Hyung I really don’t know. I was supposed to go to the arcade with Mingyu and Sungcheol and Jeonghan and Joshua and Hansool, well I’m sure you get it, but I don’t know if I can go, I’ve already promised them.”
“Kook, please? We kinda already made a reservation somewhere for 7.” Jungkook hears from the other line. “Please, baby.” He hears faintly.
Jungkook looks at Mingyu pleading for him to say something along the lines of “You’ve gotta come with us,” or “You said you would come,” but instead Mingyu is just looking at him with that look. Jungkook sighs heavily before saying into the phone “I guess. Text me where it is and I’ll start going over there.”
After saying bye he glares at Mingyu. “You really couldn't go along with what I was saying for five minutes could you?”
“Jungkook you can’t be serious. Why wouldn’t you want to go?”
“Oh, I don’t know, maybe because they're just gonna ignore me? Again. Gyu I’m so incredibly exhausted. One day they act like I don’t exist and the next I’m suddenly with them again? I’m confused.” Jungkook says with a loud groan.
“You’re just being obnoxious Kook. Trust me, it’ll be fine. You’re gonna go to this lunch dinner thing with them and you’re gonna enjoy it.” Mingyu says.
“Fine. Whatever,” Jungkook mumbles. “I’ll prove to you that I’m right eventually.”
“And then I had a test today which I thought I was prepared for but it turns out I wasn’t. I didn’t really know a lot of the material so I’m hoping that this is one of the exams that get dropped. Although that doesn’t really happen a lot, Mr. Park is pretty lenient with the grades.” Jungkook says looking up from where he was previously playing with his fingers.
He sees everyone on their phones, not paying attention to anything he was saying. They seemed so hyperfocused on whatever it was they were doing that they forgot he was even there. It hurt for him to know that everything he thought would happen is happening right in front of his eyes.
And the fact that they had practically begged for him to come with them. He had plans with people, his friends, that they had planned weeks ago, and having to bail on it last minute for this? It seemed pointless to him really.
He took his own phone out of his pocket and took a quick picture of the 6 people surrounding him which they, of course, didn’t even see.

I told you.
He puts his phone back into his pocket before pushing the small steak away from him. He pulls his knee up to his chest and rests his head on it. This really wasn’t how he intended this to go.
It’s only an hour later when the waiter finally brings them the check. Once Namjoon pays for all of them they can finally leave. Jungkook has never been so grateful that he had driven himself to school this morning.
On his way home he stops at a convenience store, he had lost his appetite but wanted to get something for later that night. As he drives along the road he can’t help but notice the sunset. The way all the colors blend so beautifully together around the sun. As he stops at a red light he can’t stop himself from thinking that maybe he’s the sun and his boyfriends are the sky.
He hears the car behind him honk and notices the green light in place of the previous red light. He starts the car once again, putting all of his focus on trying to get home. He knows it’s going to be a long rest of the day even if it only happens to be 7 pm. He knows it would be ridiculous to go to sleep at this hour, though, so he will have to figure out something to do.
Watching tv for hours on end is not a good idea. Watching a movie will just end up in him wishing he was with the others, reading will bore him. There really are no options. He can feel his phone buzz in his pocket and he groans before pulling it out.

Did you even try to talk to them?
To: MIngyu
What’s the point? I was telling them about that our prof and they very clearly are on their phones ignoring me. They shouldn’t be asking me to go places with them if they don’t really want me there.

Look, I’m sure this is all just a misunderstanding so just talk to them. Ok?

I’m just gonna go to sleep.
He goes to sleep at 7:15.
He's still delirious from sleep so he might be imagining the ringing of the doorbell. He looks over at his clock. 8:30 in the morning. "Who the fuck?" He mutters to himself. No one he knows is crazy enough to be up and about ringing his doorbell this early.
He hears it go off once more. He groans, his face halfway smushed into the pillow. He gets out of his oh-so-comfortable bed, ruffling his hair. The walk to his door feels extremely long and he can't help but want to turn around and jump back into bed.
As he opens the door he lets out a yawn, his eyes closing and his breath running into whoever was at the door. "Answering the door without a shirt on now are we?" He hears. His eyes immediately snap open to meet Jimin's. He quickly looks down and proceeds to slam the door into his face.
From behind the door he also hears Hobi commenting on his morning breath. When did he even get there? What Jimin had said ran through his mind once before running to his room to put a shirt on. It wasn't a big deal for any of them to see Jungkook without a shirt on, hell they've all seen it hundreds of times, but the fact that so many of Jungkook's neighbors have cameras installed in their doors is embarrassing.
If it wasn't for the fact that he went to bed so late last night then he wouldn't have been dreading the walk to the door so much that he forgot he wasn’t wearing a shirt. He starts to make his way back to the door before remembering that he should probably brush his teeth really quickly before going back. He speed walks to his tiny little bathroom, his as in his and Yoongi's shared bathroom which is probably smaller than the trunk in his car.
He looks at his disheveled face in the mirror. He groans while picking up his toothbrush and shoving it into his mouth. The toothpaste starts to surround his mouth when he hears another knock at the door. "Hold on." He screams in a mostly gargled way. He spits out the toothpaste and wipes his mouth before running back to the door.
He takes a deep breath before opening the door once again. "Well would you look at that! He's got a shirt on now." Namjoon says. Jungkook quickly realizes that all 6 of them were there, meaning Yoongi had never come back home after he went to sleep. Or he did and then left Jungkook yet again to go hang out with everyone else. But then why didn't Yoongi just open the door himself? He has a key, he lives here so of course he has one. Then again he could've left it in the car, or on the counter, or anywhere actually.
"Kook, can we come in or..?" Seokjin asks. Jungkook realizes that he is quite literally standing in the doorway, blocking them from even looking into the apartment. He moves out of the way, turning around, and realizes how much of a mess the small living room is. When was the last time he or Yoongi had cleaned it?
Now that he’s thinking of it, when was the last time they had come over to hang out with them? What was going on with him today? “So. What’s going on?” Jungkook asks.
“What do you mean? Did you not want us here?” Jimin asks him.
Jungkook internally groans at that. “That’s not what I meant, I swear! It’s just that it’s so early and you guys I haven’t- Oh never mind.”
“No what? We haven’t what?” Jimin asks.
“It’s just that you guys haven’t been over here in a while and I didn’t know you were coming. And it’s so messy, and Yoongi has a key so why didn’t he just use that to get in? And why are you guys here? I’m just confused.”
“I know it’s early but we have something really important to show you, and the earlier the better. Especially because you didn’t text us when you got home yesterday so we figured we’d just check in on you.” Namjoon said.
“I’m fine. Really.” Jungkook says before fully registering what had been said. “Wait a surprise?” If there’s one thing Jungkook hates it’s a full-on surprise. No context, no idea what to do. He feels lost. However, a half-surprise is the best thing on the planet. The little clues about what to do helps a lot.
Like the time when Yoongi told him that he was going to take them on a date. He told him to dress comfy but not too casual. That small detail let Jungkook feel like he wasn’t completely lost. They ended up going to a museum, something he hadn’t expected from Yoongi and it’s still to this day one of his favorite dates.
“C’mon, go get dressed and then we gotta get in the car.”
As Jungkook walked back to his room he couldn’t help but think of all the possibilities. Good and bad. Surprises are generally a good thing, at least one would like to think that. There’s the “we got you a new puppy” kind of surprise but also the “we’re moving to a new country and you’ll never see any of your friends again” type of surprise.

I think I’m about to get broken up with
Pray 4 me
He threw his phone onto his bed, hearing the ring of the notification but ignoring it. He shuffles halfway across the room to his closet. He throws on the first thing he finds which just so happens to be some black strappy pants and a plain black shirt. Black can be both formal and casual right?
"Kook, are you ready?" He hears Seokjin scream from the living room.
He takes a deep breath and exits his room. He is definitely not ready for whatever is about to happen.
He's being smashed into the window. Namjoon is sitting in the middle (whoever thought that was a good idea needs to have a talking to) and Taehyung is on the other side of him. Putting three men next to each other in an already tight car, each with typically wide frames, is not smart. It's uncomfortable and horrible and Jungkook practically wants to die.
The current position forces him to look out the window. He can't help but notice the part of Seoul they're in. They entered the Gangnam area a little while ago. The tall buildings to which he has to practically stick his face into the window to see the top, the people littering the street, the scenery, everything about Gangnam just screams something he will never be able to obtain on his own.
Eventually, they pull up to a grayish building covered in a variety of huge windows and littered with balconies. It looked to be about 25 stories total and what looked to be some sort of garden on the roof.
As everyone starts pilling out of the car Jungkook continues to sit there, staring up at the building. “Kook, come on,” Yoongi says as he shuts the passenger side door.
As Jungkook gets out of the car, he’s greeted by 6 smiling faces. He can’t help but think of how extremely weird this situation is. No one said a single word on the drive there, he has no idea what’s happening because not a single person will tell him anything.
He can see everyone giving each other side glances. Yoongi looks at Seokjin who looks back at him. Namjoon is looking at Jimin who’s looking at Hoseok who is looking at Taehyung who is looking at Namjoon. Jungkook can’t help but think it’s like the one spiderman meme but this is not the time to think about things like this. He can’t help but think of how awkward this whole situation is.
“You have to tell him.”
“No, you.”
“Why do I have to do it?”
The whispering back and forth definitely was not helping the situation. If anything it was making Jungkook feel even more anxious. “Can someone please just tell me what’s going on?” And when everyone quickly turns their head and towards him and doesn’t say a word he just sighs and leans back against the car. “If no one is going to say anything, why did you bring me here?”
Still no answer. “If you want to break up with me just tell me ok? I don’t know why you would bring me here to do that but if you feel the need to do it, then just do it.”
“Jungkook what the fuck?” Yoongi says. His eyes are wide and his mouth is practically hanging open. The others aren’t looking any better, they’re all looking at Jungkook with disbelief. Did our talk mean nothing to you?”
“Do want me to be honest? Not really. Do you expect me to believe anything that comes out of any of your mouths? All it seems like you can do now is lie to me. You either ignore me or are spewing random shit to make me believe you! It’s so incredibly annoying and none of you will ever understand that because none of you seem to care.” Jungkook says, trying his best not to scream. They are still in public and he doesn’t want to cause a scene.
“Why couldn’t you have said that when I asked you the first time? Then we could’ve avoided this whole thing.” Jimin said angrily.
“Jimin this is not the time to be saying that,” Namjoon says calmly. Sure the situation was not ideal but belittling the way that Jungkook feels would not make the situation any better. “Listen Jungkook, it was not our intention to get this far with the secrecy-”
“So you admit that you were, that you still are actually, keeping secrets from me.”
“Let me finish Jungkook,” Namjoon says sternly and he can see Jungkook rolling his eyes. “Yes we were keeping secrets but it was never supposed to last this long. I do agree that you should’ve told us how you felt a long time ago but you can’t change the past. We have been planning a huge surprise for you, for all of us, and our plans continuously got set back. I’m sorry for the way that we’ve all been behaving but I promise that we don’t want to break up with you, or leave you anytime soon.”
Before anyone could intervene, Seokjin asked the one thing Jungkook had been wondering ever since they had gotten here. "Do you want to see the surprise?"
Jungkook nods his head, somewhat skeptically and Seokjin grabs him by the wrist and starts pulling him along to the front door of the large building, the others following along right behind them.
Seokjin almost doesn't hear the receptionist welcoming them into the building as he strums towards the elevators. He presses the button for the elevator as soon as he finally sees everyone else rounding the corner. As they all wait for the elevator, Jungkook takes this time to look at his surroundings. It looks almost luxurious with the small sitting area decked out in the most modern furniture, and desks. He can see a long hallway with a tall window at the end. He can see the signs that indicate what’s down the hallway saying fitness center, indoor pool, and outdoor pool/patio. The whole space reminds him of a hotel. Why had they brought him here?
He’s pulled out of his thoughts at the ding of the elevator. As he enters he can see Jimin hitting the button for the 27th floor. As in 27th out of 35. His current apartment was on the 3rd floor out of 7, he couldn’t think of a time when he ever had been on the 27th floor of a building.
It was complete silence for the remainder of the trip up. The only noise was that of the elevator working. Another ding sounds as the doors open once again on the 27th floor. They let Namjoon get out of the elevator first as he has the keys. They haven’t officially made a copy of the keys for all seven of them to be able to use yet but they were getting there.
As Namjoon unlocks the door, Jungkook realizes that this is in fact not a hotel. Hotels have a keycard that unlocks a door, not a key. That thought just gets confirmed when the door opens to a spacious area with no beds in sight. The whole living room, kitchen, and dining area were bigger than his apartment alone. Hotel rooms were not this big. Or at least he didn’t think so.
“Can someone please tell me what the fuck we’re doing here?” Jungkook asks. And of course, he hadn’t meant it to come out like that but he can’t take it back now.
The others had practiced exactly what they were going to say when they got here, the exact order and everything. Sure it wasn’t anything big but they had figured that they didn’t want the whole surprise to be a total mess. Although now that the time had come no one can say anything. It was like someone had glued their mouths shut.
“I’m not doing this again, so if no one tells me then I’m just going to leave,” Jungkook says with a sigh. He doesn’t make the move to leave though, all of them knowing that which is why no one talks. That is until Hoseok gets tired of all of the silence and finally tells him.
“Well, we figured that we all are always at someone’s tiny apartment, whether that be yours and Yoongi’s, or Taehyung and Jimin’s or Jin’s, whatever, we all thought it would be best to get one that we could always be at. For all of us. We didn’t tell you because it was meant to be a huge surprise. We all designed the place, with all our likes and styles in mind. Some places were assigned to certain people though to get the job done quicker. This is for us to live in Jungkookah.”
“Oh.” is all Jungkook can get out as he stares at everyone else. He felt so loved by all of them and he didn’t know what to do.
“C’mon, we’ll show you everything,” Taehyung says.
Namjoon takes over as they all fully walk into the apartment. It’s a huge open space with the living room taking up one half of the room, and then the kitchen on the other. “As I’m sure you can see I came up with most of the ideas in this space,” Namjoon said motioning to the side with the living room.
The floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, the large couch, the bench under the window it was all so beautifully Namjoon. There was no other way to describe it. Jungkook loved the area and he could definitely imagine himself sitting on the couch for an endless amount of time. He looked towards the tv, his eyes slowly dragging the console under it. There was an abundance of games under it and the actual gaming console sitting on top and on the shelves on the cabinet. He couldn’t wait to play them on a rainy day.
Hoseok directed him to the kitchen, it was once again beautiful. There was a huge island sitting in the middle of it, there were so many cabinets, and the appliances looked like a dream. He couldn’t imagine how happy Seokjin must be to have a large kitchen with updated appliances. Yet again he couldn’t stop himself from thinking of all the things he could do here with his boyfriends. Throwing flour at one another as they bake, sitting on the counters rambling about whatever is on their mind, waking up to see someone making breakfast for them. It’s so corny to say that “the kitchen is the heart of the home” but it truly is.
The dining room although relatively pushed to the side is such a beautiful area as well. The wood of the table matching the bookshelf, the fabric on the chairs matching the couch. The whole space really was amazing and he couldn’t see himself getting sick of it anytime soon.
“I can tell that you already love it Kook. Where did you want to go next?” Yoongi asks motioning to the two hallways, the one leading off the kitchen and the one leading off the living room.
He didn’t know which room lead to what but he figured that the bedroom would be the next big thing to check off the list. “Bedroom?” He said with a questioning tone. As the others lead him to the opposite side of the room he couldn’t help but look at the hallway they had been closer to. What was in there?
As he walked into the bedroom it took him a second to process everything. The seating area, the huge bed, the tall windows, the fireplace, why was there a fireplace? Seokjin cut in before Jugnkook could even get a word out. “I figured that if this would be where we’re all sleeping that it needed to be comfortable. As for the chairs and fireplace, I just thought that it would be domestic for one of us to wake up extremely early and wait there for the others.”
Once again Jungkook had been so grateful for everything his hyungs were doing to ensure that everything was perfect for everyone. He was glad that everyone had their own styles and representations in the apartment because it truly showed how well everyone went together, how they all blended. “I love it,” he whispered. He walked towards the windows, noticing the door that lead to the balcony. He could imagine Namjoon sitting out there and reading a book while Taehyung attempted to lay down and get a suntan even though it was a covered balcony. A smile crept onto his face for what must’ve been the millionth time since they walked in.
Taehyung gently took Jungkook’s hand and lead him into the bathroom. It was bigger than he had expected. A full wall of counter space for all of them to share and two sinks, along with a huge shower and bathtub. Jungkook truthfully could not wait to wake up with them here. Knowing that he will be able to see them everyday and be with them while doing the simplest things.
Sharing an apartment with Yoongi was one thing, seeing him all the time but not everyone else. Sharing a tiny bathroom with Yoongi, sharing a tiny kitchen, having different beds, different rooms. He was excited for the change.
He noticed another door in the bathroom and he pointed at it with a quizzical look on his face. “Walk in closet,” Jimin stated. Jungkook’s eyes looked like they were popping out of their sockets. In his childhood home he had a very small dresser and was only able to get a new one when he moved in with Yoongi. A walk in closet was whole 5 steps up from what he had now.
He opened the door and genuinely stunned from the room. All 4 walls were covered in floor to ceiling shelves and cabinets, the same from both the bookshelf and table. It made sense that it would be that big if the seven of them were going to share it but he still couldn’t believe it.
As they all walked back out of the bedroom they quickly looked at both the guest bedrooms and the guest bathroom. All of which were in a much smaller size than theirs. Although he didn’t know why exactly they had a guest anything. Jimin could see that he was thinking this and explained that if one of them just needed to get away for a bit before reminding them that they should never go to bed angry or upset with each other.
At this point Jungkook truly couldn’t think of anything else that could be in this apartment. What on earth could be in that other hallway.
“Are you ready for the second part of the surprise?” Seokjin asks.
“What do you mean the second part? This is a whole apartment. Did you guys also buy a yacht?”
“Well there’s no yacht I can definitely tell you that. Those are way too expensive I don’t think any of us can afford that.” Yoongi states.
Taehyung practically yanks on his arm as he practically runs to the hallway they were next to earlier.
“I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that you shouldn’t mix your work and sleep space. Well we took that just a tad bit far. We each designed our own spaces within the house so that we could come here and relax or do our work, whatever we needed to do. We didn’t really touch your space though because we weren’t sure what you would want in there.” Hoseok says.
They went through a quick tour of the rooms for everyone, no one was really sure what the others were putting in their rooms as it hadn’t really mattered. They didn’t need to discuss what they were putting in their own rooms as it was meant to be a space for them specifically.
Taehyung had an art studio. Multiple blank canvases were laying in a stack against the wall, he has drying racks and shelves full of painting supplies. Right next to his room, Jimin had a dance studio. Nothing much just a wall of mirrors and a barre attached to it. He had a small shelf with a speaker on top and hooks right under it. Yoongi’s was next to his, he had a full studio with huge speakers and a very new looking computer. There were LED lights and a small keyboard and drum set. At the end of the hall was Seokjin’s room. It was just a regular office space. It had a huge desk with leather seats. There were nice curtains hanging to cover the windows. It was a nice space for him to take care of all of his work but not necessarily a good relaxing spot. Hoseok’s room was across from Yoongi’s and the polar opposite. While they both had speakers and computers and a lot of equipment, Hoseok’s was full of brighter colors. Namjoons room was next to Hoseok’s and had high bookshelves and a comfortable looking couch on one end of the room. A soon as you walked in there was a table along with his equipment as well. It was tightly packed but nothing seemed out of place.
The last room was Jungkook’s room. As soon as he walked in multiple thoughts flashed through his head of what he wanted to do in the space. He could have a workout room, although there was already one in the lobby, he could have an art studio like Taehyung although he’s sure he could just ask to borrow some of his stuff sometimes. He could have a small gaming area although all of the consoles are in the living room. It would definitely be a hard decision.
Now that they’ve seen everything they all go back to the living room and take a seat. Jungkook basks in the perfectness of it all. They all have a spot to sit at, all together, and no one has to sit on the floor. This really is the perfect place to be. Although it just makes him think about what he thought their intentions were this whole time. They were practical planning the rest of their lives with him and he was accusing them of wanting to break up with them.
“I’m really sorry.”
“Why are you sorry?” Namjoon asks.
“I never should’ve let this go on for so long. I should’ve told at least one of you how I truly felt before jumping to conclusions. And I was so rude to you too. All of you and I really am sorry. I was overreacting.”
“Listen Kook, there’s no point in dwelling on the past. The matter of the fact if that you didn’t say anything which lead to everything bubbling up and becoming too much. I’m not saying that it was okay to do because it’s quite obviously not healthy but it’s going to be fine. And we were being way more secretive than we needed to be and I completely understand how the situation looked to you. I think we can all agree that we can build off of this experience though. We have to work on our communication or this relationship is never going to get anywhere.” Yoongi says. The others nod in agreement. Surprises may be extremely fun to plan but if they were ever going to do something like this then they would need to replan their tactics.
“And what about that night? With Jimin? And that day I came back home and you all stopped talking?”
“Well long story short I woke up after having a dream that you all left me. It was horrible and I woke up practically screaming. In fact I’m surprised that you didn’t wake up, that’s why we let you be. We figured that if you were able to sleep through that then you must’ve been exhausted. And right before you came in on that day we were discussing some of the final plans for this place and we were so caught up in it that we didn’t realize the time. We had no idea you would be coming home and we didn’t know if you had heard anything. I guess we all kind of freaked out.” Jimin explains. “I’m really sorry baby.”
“It’s okay hyung.”
“It’s not though. We gave you the impression that we didn’t love you and that will never be okay.” Taehyung says.
After more discussing they decide to head back to the car. They figured they could get lunch and do something afterwards. They wouldn’t fully move into the apartment until a week later which gave them all the perfect amount of time to finish packing up all of their stuff and for Jungkook to start packing with the help of the rest of them. He wouldn’t have to take that much stuff, there was barely any room for any personal items in his and Yoongi’s current apartment but he had a lot of clothes. And knowing him he would put it off till the last second as well as all of the assignments that he still had to do.
As soon as they all pile back into the car Jungkook whips out his phone.

As he turns off his phone he looks around the car, he really could not be happier right now.
“Yah get off my counters!” Seokjin yells.
Jungkook pretends that he can’t hear him though. He’s sitting in the middle of the island, his feet dangling off the edge. He’s not a nuisance after all.
Namjoon is sitting on the couch reading a book, Jimin just finished a long session in his dance studio and is now in the shower, Taehyung is taking a nap next to Namjoon, Yoongi is in his studio, Hoseok is laying on the window seat. Jungkook said he’d help Jin make dinner for all of them but he can’t bring himself to do anything. He has loved the past few months being here. He feels like he could honestly stay here forever with them.
He finally hops off the counters and leaps onto Jin. “What are you doing? My back can’t handle this.” He complains. Jungkook knows it comes from a place deep in his heart though. This is perfect. “Can you go see if you can lure your hyung out of his studio? Dinner is almost done.”
He finally breaks away from Jin and heads down towards Yoongi’s studio. He knocks on the door and hears a quiet “come in.” Yoongi hadn’t originally had a spare chair in his room but after about two weeks and everyone kept coming in to tell him that there was food ready then continuing to wait for him he figured it would be best to get a spare chair.
It wasn’t much to do at all though, they were no longer on a minimum budget where they could only ever afford ramen and various bags of chips. Soon after moving in Yoongi’s music career had blown up, he wasn’t any sort of k-pop star, but he was well known and respected in the music industry. Jin had always been the one who had the money out of all of them but the markets at his company had continued to rise, in cause earning more money for him to bring home, Taehyung’s art was now being displayed in a few museums. He had his own exhibits and everything. Jimin was starting to get more and more popular on Youtube for all of his dance covers. He had easily over a 1 million followers now and people raved about his skills. Hoseok was yet to have a big break like Yoongi but was well on his way there. He loved rapping and singing and he occasionally recorded dancing videos using Jimin’s space. Namjoon was an author. When he had revealed that a company actually wanted to put his book out they had all been ecstatic. They all watched as his book soared to the Top 10 most popular buys for the week.
Jungkook was still trying to figure out what he wanted to do. He originally went to school for business but he felt himself leaning more towards Youtube. He loved doing vlogs and gaming as well as taking random videos of dates or walks. He gained most of his following from his livestreams though. He would talk about random things sometimes or he would play any games that the viewers suggested. He was having a lot of fun but felt like his degree was mostly useless.
“Dinner’s ready.” Jungkook said plopping down onto the chair.
“Ok just give me one second.” Yoongi said fiddling with something on his computer. Jungkook looks around the room, analyzing everything as if he hadn’t seen it all a thousand times.
Yoongi gets up from his chair and moves towards the door. “Kookah?” He asks when he notices that he hadn’t yet gotten up from the chair. “Babe are you coming?”
“Oh, yeah. Sorry,” Jungkook says quickly getting out of the chair.
“You good?” Yoongi asks.
“Never been better.”
