Work Text:
Vyn broke his arm.
Do not ask how, he will not answer. It was horrifically embarrassing and he will never tell a soul how he did it. In fact the memory of the event has been cast out into purgatory so he will never remember it again.
Having a broken arm was, for lack of better terms, really fucking annoying. Vyn had never realised how much he appreciated having two functioning limbs.
He could no longer hold down his paper when he was writing causing it to slip all over the place and make quite messy notes.
He couldn't put on his watch, and forget getting dressed because there was no way in hell he could button up a shirt with only one hand. Sure, if he practised enough he could probably do it, but contrary to popular belief Vyn cannot do anything remotely fiddly.
Vyn hated asking for help, it caused him worse physical pain than his broken arm. Though there came a time in every man's life where he had to suck up his pride and ask for some assistance.
So… He got out his phone and sent a message to the NXX group chat (phone flat on his desk, tapping the keyboard with a single finger because god forbid he tried to type with just his right thumb). They were, as much as he hated to admit it, the only people he would actually feel relatively okay with asking for some semblance of help.

Vyn is not dead, he is just trying to figure out just why he wanted to ask these people in the first place. He stared at the messages being sent.
He wasn't even going to ask how Luke knew about his pulse. Also the duck emoticon appeared to be the current new… Ominous emoticon by what trends and social media had taught him. Why a duck? Who knows.

Vyn's message was left on read and he was full of the feeling of the duck. That feeling is dread.
They were?? Coming??? To his house???
He leaned forward and rested his head on the table, trying to figure out how horribly the rest of this day would go.

The next hour passed by in a blur. The whole team arrived to his house with varying amounts of supplies.
He had no idea what was going on to put it simply. Robin and Artem had retreated into his kitchen to make a meal for them all. He had no idea what it was but it definitely smelt delicious.
Luke had washed his hair? It was incredibly strange but Vyn was in no place to deny it because it was something he was really struggling with. No amount of video tutorials helped him. He had already thrown his pride to the floor and stomped all over it, so he had nothing to lose. Plus if he had to cope with greasy hair he might just drop dead.
It was oddly pleasant and he and Luke kept up a relatively normal conversation throughout the whole ordeal. Luke made a few comments about how Vyn's hair was getting a little long, he offered to cut it too but Vyn felt fear suddenly shoot through him and quickly declined his offer. He could trust Luke to wash his hair but Vyn thought that Luke, scissors and his head were a poor combination.
Luke also quite kindly wrapped up Vyn's hair in his hair towel with surprising ease, he appreciated Luke's handiwork.

Upon leaving the bathroom, Vyn was met with Robin and Marius armed and dangerous. They had markers. Vyn sighed and simply accepted his fate, going and taking a seat on the couch and holding out his left arm, offering them his cast. He had to push away a smile as they cheered and immediately got to work. He knew as soon as he requested their help that this would happen.
Soon, his arm was covered in silly doodles. Flowers, teacups, rabbits, cats, cake, hearts and stars were all over his arm in a rainbow collage.
He sat back and relaxed for a while. It felt like a very strange spa session, sitting in his hair towel doing absolutely nothing as Luke joined in on the arm doodles.
The smell from the kitchen was only getting stronger, Artem was obviously cooking something very flavorful and aromatic but Vyn really couldn't tell what. He simply sat where more random drawings appeared on his cast, Luke had added Peanut onto his arm, joining the other cast of animals.
Another 10 minutes pass and Artem finally shows his face after almost 2 hours. He has made a lovely meal in a baking dish, salmon, potatoes, beetroot and it looked perfect. Though anything looked perfect to Vyn, as he had been living off soup for a while as it was the only thing he could make with one arm.
"The joys of dependency, right, Vyn?" Marius grinned up at him before capping his marker and heading over to the dining table with a grin on his face. The rest of the team followed him to the table, happily talking to each other and giving their compliments to the chef as Artem plated up the meal. He had a bashful smile on his face, like he always did when he cooked something for them all, but no matter what it was, it was always a blessing to have a home cooked meal by chef extraordinaire Artem Wing.
Vyn sat at the table as well, usually he would sit at the head when dining by himself or eat in his room. It was odd, being surrounded by people and having a talkative evening in his own home. He would often have a meal with one other person occasionally, usually Robin whenever she decided to come over. It wasn't unpleasant though, he appreciated the chatter and random conversations.
Artem had quite the speciality of being subtly very considerate at the best of times. He had made a meal that meant Vyn wouldn't have to cut anything up, saving him from any further embarrassment of needing someone to cut up his food. Eating with just a fork was just fine for such a meal and he was very appreciative, even though he would never tell Artem such a thing to his face.
-
Vyn was not surprised this ended in an impromptu sleepover in his living room. How else would this night have ended? Vyn and Robin were sleeping top to toe on the couch quite happily, both snuggled up under one of his larger and thicker blankets that he had acquired quite the collection of over the years. The rest of them..
Luke had fashioned himself a makeshift bed in front of the fireplace and was more than comfortable sleeping on the floor. Vyn wasn't surprised exactly, it seemed like something that Luke would do voluntarily in his own home with his own bed.
Marius and Artem had stolen Vyn's mattress.
They carried it down the stairs together, with Robin directing them like she was a marshaller on an aeroplane runway. For the sake of Vyn's health, they stripped the mattress of absolutely everything, leaving it completely bare before laying a blanket down on it and having a second one to cover them up. It was an odd thing for them to do and Vyn made them swear an oath that they would both put his mattress back in the morning, they agreed, thankfully.
As Vyn layed on the couch, he felt oddly warm. He was certain it had nothing to do with the blanket, the fire or Robin sleeping beside him. It was a comforting warmth, of being beside people who actually cared about him and went out of their way to make sure he was okay.
Now, Vyn wasn't happy about asking for help, but over the 7 weeks of his recovery period, he might call them over a few more times.
Maybe. If they didn't ruin his house in the process.
