Ethan’s POV
As I slowly come to, I notice that the space next to me is empty. I guess he had something to do today, at least he gave me the fox he won for me to cuddle with. I should probably get ready... but the bed is sooo comfortable. No, focus Ethan, focus. Get up. You gotta go talk to that guy today. As I open my eyes, I look over to my nightstand, locking eyes with the photo on the nightstand. Man, I miss those guys. Hope they're all doing okay, then again, I don't really think you can be "okay" after going through what we went through in Raven's Nest. God that place was a shit storm, at least I met some good people and my partner there. I slowly drag a hand across my face, sitting up and grabbing my phone.
After scrolling through my notifications, I drag myself out of bed and lazily throw on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and walk into the kitchen of my apartment. After getting a bowl and having a very healthy breakfast consisting of sugary cereal and some orange juice, I turn on the TV to watch the news. Just more of the same, some criminal getting locked up for stealing something, local elections, all stuff that I should really pay attention to, but it's boring so I'll get to it later.
Alright, breakfast, done. Time to start the day. After a quick shower, I change into some jeans and a different t-shirt. After grabbing my laptop bag, pocketing my phone and grabbing a pair of sunglasses, I walk out of the apartment and out onto the streets below. So I'm going to meet the owner of a local theater, claiming it's haunted. Good grief, if this spirals into something like what happened at Raven's Nest... well I'll probably stay, if there is something bigger happening I can't just stay out of it. Someone has to do something, and unfortunately, that someone is me.
11:00 AM
"Me and the rest of the staff here have been getting reports of seeing a small girl throughout the theater. She's seen wearing a Victorian Era dress. They haven't done anything harmful, but it still freaks out the customers, staff, and actors. We mostly just want answers, do you think you could do that?" The man, Jacob, asks me.
"Well of course, that's amateur stuff. Just give me a few days to research the building and it's background, and I should be good to investigate."
"That's a huge relief, thank you so much Mr. Shadows."
"Eh, no problem, just doin my job." I wave goodbye and head off to a cafe.
6:30 PM
I take a sip of my second cup of hot cocoa, emptying it as I read another file online about the history of the location. Ugh, I hate the research part of my job. It's so boring just sitting here reading boring stuff, then again the occasional murder and cult activity I find at certain places is kind of cool. "Excuse me Sir, would you like another refill?"
"Oh, no thank you. Though, while you're here, may I have the bill?"
"Of course, sir."
"Thank you." I look out the window, watching the sunset. I close my laptop, and put it in my bag as the waitress returns with the bill. After paying, I make my way home.
8:00 PM
Finally, home. I put my bag down on the coffee table on my way to my bedroom. I grab a pair of boxers, shorts, and a t-shirt, as well as a towel. As I walk into the apartment’s bathroom, I look into the mirror. Wow, I never really realized just how much I’ve changed since I was a kid. God, I was such a dumb kid, but hey, what can you do? “Maybe I should go back there sometime soon, visit Julian and Silas, apologize to Lillian for being such a dick. God I was a dick.” I brush my hair out of my face, and notice something in the mirror. It almost looks like… there’s someone in my shower? I turn around and look inside of the shower, but nothing’s there. “Figures… must be seeing things.” I reach down and turn the knob for hot water, as I get ready to shower.
Third Person POV
As he enters the shower he fails to notice his distorted reflection staring back at him. A reflection with black eyes and a black, rotted mouth, as well as a woman with long silver hair and piercing teal eyes standing next to him. Both of them are intently watching the twenty five year old, as they have been for the past week, gauging whether or not he’d be a threat. They leave as a knock sounds against the bathroom door.
