Summary:

Just when Miles thinks his day couldn’t get any worse, The Spot manages to find him in Earth-42 while he is being interrogated by his alternate self and his Not-Uncle Aaron. Already battered and bruised from outrunning Miguel and the Spiderverse Team and suffering a massive headache and possible concussion after being knocked out, Miles’ is in no way prepared for the world of pain that he is about to experience at the hands of old and new enemies.

Will Miles’ new friends rescue him before it’s too late, or will his short legacy come to a bittersweet end before it even starts?

Chapter 1: And So It Begins

Chapter Text

The whole day had been nothing but disaster after disaster.

First, a new villain of the week had arrived and caused him problems which ended up with him being portaled all across Brooklynn only to be late to the meeting with his parents at his school.

Then he had to pick up the cakes for his dad’s congratulatory party for becoming captain of the police force, but then they got smooshed on the journey back home.

Then, his interdimensional friend, Gwen Stacy, A.K.A Spider-woman, had dropped by and encouraged him to go swinging around the city. Speaking her again after a year had felt so good, and the way she looked at him made his heart soar and his stomach queasy.

They enjoyed some time alone, just the two of them. As they talked, Gwen told him about how she had been traveling all over the multiverse for months. Not only that, but she was now a part of an elite team of Spider people and had been going on missions and meeting new spider people to hang out with instead of him.

It kind of hurt, how she went on and on about her new group. He felt a little left out.

The real disaster started after Miles decided to follow Gwen into her portal. After accidentally destabilizing another Spider-Man’s universe by saving the police captain, Gwen and her friend Hobie Brown, the punk Spider-Man, took him to the Spider-Man headquarters. He got to meet Miguel O’Hara, who essentially told him that he had to let his dad die so that his universe’s cannon event could take place. Of course, Miles protested.

How could he just let his dad die? There was no way he would stand by and let that happen!

Unfortunately, Miguel decided that his noncompliance was too dangerous, so the mass Spider-Man-hunt for him led to a frantic escape from headquarters.

But to Miles’ never ending bad luck, he didn’t even land in his own universe.

The realization was quite literally hammered into his skull when his alternate self knocked him unconscious and held him captive. Even his alternate universe Uncle Aaron was there. It was so surreal to see him alive but so dead; his eyes were dark and dull. His alternate self was a complete surprise. His appearance, his demeanor, his everything! It was so different and surreal! Still, nothing amounted to the sheer fear in Miles’ soul when he woke up tied to his uncle’s punching bag and finding out that Miles-42 was the prowler.

Of course, the entire multiverse was determined to kick him in the ass. No sooner than he had managed to break out of his bonds and try to think of a plan, Spot had appeared out of nowhere and hauled him off into another portal before Miles-42 and Not-Uncle Aaron could stop them.

So here he was; stuck in a dark void hurtling through time and space. The other side of the portal was just ahead, and Miles dreaded what would come next…
