Work Text:
The early morning sun shone through the window illuminating Kaeden's still sleeping figure. The paper thin white curtains did nothing to block the light from leaking into the room, the slight breeze from the open window causing the curtain to move slightly away from window, let even more light leak in. Ahsoka could feel the chilly breeze on her face, but the warm blankets and sight before her made that feel irrelevant.
Kaeden looked beautiful laying next to her, hair slightly messy, spread out around her. During the day she normally wore it braided so mornings and evenings were some of the only times she saw it down. As a little girl she'd found human hair weird, but a little interesting. Even as an adult she still didn't fully understand it, but she did know she like Kaedens. It framed her face beautifully when down and the braids added to the strong air she carried with her. She'd even taught Ahsoka how to braid it. Some mornings she would braid Kaeden's hair herself. They would enjoy the morning peace, talking about anything and everything, as she crossed the strands over each other.
Their life had fallen into a nice domestic pattern after the empire was finished and they finally got to settle down and just live their lives. They ended up on a backwater farming planet a lot like the one they first met on. It was a nice quite life. They still had plenty to do work wise, but compared to everything from the years before them it was nice. They had a small home together and she found her life full of beautiful moments just like this one. Some were conversations or just simple life things, but mornings were one of her favorites. When she woke up before Kaeden and just take the silent moment to look at her beautiful girlfriend.
She could honestly lay like this for hours, just watching Kaeden and memorizing every detail of her. Her beautiful hair spread out around her. Her soft skin, illuminated by the early morning sun. The peaceful look in her face as she slept without any problems to worry her.
She loved to find the smaller details too. The little ones no one else noticed, that she could always find more of. Things like the small scar on her back, a jagged white mark she'd noticed once, letting her finger trace along it and asking what made it. Kaeden had given her a story of the time she'd fallen off a roof playing with Miara at age nine. They'd climbed on top of when of the houses in their little village one day to reach some fruit in a nearby tree. While collecting the fruits she'd tripped, cutting herself on exposed wire on an old fence. Her favorite part of the story was how Kaeden finished it. She'd smiled and told her that the fruits they collects had absolutely been worth it.
She didn't ever want to leave. Watching Kaeden peacefully sleep next to her, hearing her soft breathing. The scene was beautiful and help a peace to it that seemed to make any problems disappear. It was moments like these that had become some of her favorites over the years.
Kaeden eyes began to slowly flutter open, the deep brown meeting her own blue ones, a small smile beginning to spread across her face. Just watching her girl friend had already brought a smile to her face, but Kaeden's smile made it a little big wider. All of the other girl's smiles had that affect on her, no matter how small. It meant she was happy and being the one to bring that feeling made it better. They'd survived through the rebellion for years and now they could live their lives with this happiness.
"Good morning, 'soka," Kaeden whispered, breaking the silence of the morning with her quiet voice. Her low volume and sweet voice just made the peaceful morning better even though they broke through the silence.
"Morning Kae," she replied, also in quiet voice. Silence fell again for a moment as they just smiled at each other, not having to think about any problems.
How had she gotten so lucky? Landing on Raada had been one of the best things that could've happened to her. In the end things really had turned out alright for her. The galaxy was at peace, and she had also found peace of her own.
