Yuu thought her day was already pretty shitty.To start the morning off she missed the bus.Then she got an F from Physics.
Then she got kicked off the cheerleading team.That one hurt,she had to admit.
Not as much as what she just came upon,though.
“Absolutely not.No!You haven’t seen her since she was a baby!”her mother whisper shouted behind her bedroom door.
Yuu had just finished showering and stalked towards her mother’s bedroom door in her pajamas, searching for a hairbrush.Now she wished she hadn’t.Still,she remained quiet and rooted to the spot.
“I don’t care!I don’t care you’re her father!I left for a fucking reason!”
Then,even though she didn’t hear anyone hang up, the caller or her mother ,Yuu knew the conversation was over.She pushed the door forward.The doors in this house were always so quiet ,so her mom didn’t hear her come in.
“Well,when were you planning to tell me?”
The older woman jumped up, frightened. Yuu just crossed her arms.
“Yuu!You weren’t-“
“Well,when were you planning to tell me?!”she repeated, though louder.
“I wasn’t going to tell you, because-“
“You made me think he was dead!You told me that!You told me that for 16 years!”
“He left us!”
“And here she is,lying again!”
Yuu ran down the stairs, her mother close behind, with yells and pleas for her to come back.Her daughter might as well have been deaf to it, stomping to the exit.
“He’s a bad person and if you knew he was alive, you’d look for him!”
“So what I’m hearing is he’s great and you took me away and are a selfish bitch.Gotcha.”
“What!?”
“Well,you’re a liar,so from now on I’ll just assume everything you say actually means the opposite.”
Yuu’s tone was mocking now, as she grabbed her keys.Unlike her mother,she always kept hers downstairs, on the shelf near the door.Easy acces for burglars according to her mom.But clearly that woman is a lying liar.
“Sweetie…”
The key was already in the lock.As she shrugged her mom’s hand off her shoulder,Yuu twisted it,the door swinging open.
“What are you doing!?”
“Leaving.”
“Where?”
Another shrug.Anywhere that wasn’t here worked for her to be honest.
“For how long?”
Yuu considered not responding to that one either,but she was in her pajamas,so…
“An hour tops.”
She heard her mother take a shaky breath.
“Ok…Ok.Let me just get you a jacket.And some proper shoes…You’re wearing slippers after all,so…”
Her mother continued her rambling as she went towards their shared closet at the end of the hallway.
Yuu looked out at the street.Across their house was a park.A nice place for a walk, besides it wasn’t that cold.She won’t really need that jacket.
The street was rather wide.Luckily,where they were traffic was nearly non existent,so the danger was minimal.She was about halfway across when she heard it.
