Chapter 1: The Decision
Chapter Text
“Get back here, you fucker!” Katsuki blasted through the air and tackled the fleeing villain.
“Get off me!” The villain struggled to break free as Katsuki put restraints on him.
Katsuki slapped him in the back of the head. “Shut up!” He noticed something clutched in the villain's left hand. He pried it open and frowned. Some kind of clear bag with pills inside.
He stuffed them inside his suit to deal with later as one of Endeavor’s sidekicks ran up. “We got it from here Dynamight!”
He nodded and blasted off again.
They had gotten a tip about a drug deal going down tonight. The villains had scattered as soon as the heroes made their presence known. Endeavor had gone after the lead villain with the case while him, Todoroki and Deku went after the lackeys.
He spotted Deku fighting one of the villains. Nerd looked like he had it under control.
Ahead, Todoroki had two of them encased in his ice. Katsuki growled. He wouldn’t let Icyhot beat him!
He flew around until he spotted another villain fleeing down a side street. He blasted down and grabbed him with one hand. “Gotcha!” He blasted the villain in the back and used his other hand to slow himself enough to land. The villain moaned on the ground and Katsuki quickly cuffed him.
In total, they apprehended seven villains plus the head honcho Endeavor captured. Stupid Deku had taken down two before Katsuki spotted him. The villains and drugs were handed over to the police.
Endeavor talked with the police for a long time and Katsuki frowned. These drugs must be bad; usually they just handed everything over and went on to the next incident. His guess seemed correct when Endeavor ordered the whole group back to the agency.
“This drug deal involved a new product that’s been hitting the streets recently,” Endeavor said once everyone was gathered. “Due to the nature of the drug, I’m creating a team to focus solely on tracking these people down. Everyone here will be on the team.”
“What kind of drug is it?” Deku asked.
“Hormone suppressants,” Endeavor said. “They are strong enough to completely inhibit pheromone production but cause a host of nasty side effects. There have been several deaths associated with this drug already.” He looked at Katsuki, Deku, and Todoroki. “Interns, I want you to find out if any of your classmates have come across this drug on their internships as well.”
They nodded.
“That’s all for tonight,” Endeavor said.
They headed for the locker rooms to change. “Why would anybody be desperate enough to take a drug like that?” Deku asked.
“I understand why,” Todoroki said, looking down. “Some people would rather be a Beta.”
“Aw, Shouto.” Deku hugged his boyfriend. “I like you just the way you are.”
Katsuki gagged.
In the locker room, he noticed something in his pocket as he was stripping off his uniform. It was the baggy of pills he had taken from the villain. Fuck, he forgot to turn them in.
“Hey Midoriya, I heard you took down three villains before Bakugou took down even one,” Todoroki said, smirking at Katsuki.
“That’s a load of bullshit!” Katsuki shoved the pills into his bag. He’d deal with them later. “I had my first villain down before Deku got that last one. He probably only caught the first two so easy because they were weak ass losers.”
“Sure, you tell yourself that,” Todoroki said, pulling his shirt on.
Deku sighed. “Shouto, be nice.”
“Fuck that, I don’t need you to protect me, you damn nerd.” He stomped over to Todoroki and poked him in the chest. “You only caught two because of your little ice trick. You couldn’t handle real fighting.” Todoroki shifted and ice crackled over Katsuki’s feet, freezing them to the floor. “Shit!”
“Shouto!” Deku shouted.
Todoroki raised an eyebrow. “Can’t handle a little ice?”
Katsuki growled and aimed his hands at Todoroki’s smug face. “Die!”
Katsuki groaned when his alarm went off the next morning. His whole body was sore. He didn’t think Todoroki had gotten that many hits in. Stupid candy cane bastard. He shouldn’t have let Todoroki goad him like that but the asshole knew just how to piss him off. At least he got in trouble this time too. They had both received a lecture from Burnin’ about destroying another locker room and hadn’t gotten back to the dorms until after midnight.
He got out of bed and immediately had to put out a hand to catch himself as a wave of dizziness hit him. Shit, he better not be getting sick. He had been feeling off for a few days now. Mostly just aches and a headache which he could power through, so he had dismissed it. He couldn’t afford to take time off from his internship and classes.
He carefully made his way to the bathroom. He looked a little pale. Fuck. He hoped he still had some medicine lying around from the last time Kirishima got sick; the idiot had a shitty immune system for an Alpha.
He walked back into the room to find the pills and froze. He could smell something sweet. Omega pheromones? He squinted up at the air vents. Each room had a separate ventilation system so pheromones didn’t spread. It was strong enough an Alpha in rut could stay in their own dorm room instead of using one of the special rooms in the infirmary. In theory, it should work the same for Omegas but Omega heroes were extremely rare. If the system wasn’t working, it could flood the whole dorm with pheromones.
He climbed up and sniffed the vent. Nothing.
Maybe he had brushed against an Omega on the way home last night? He pulled out his clothes from yesterday and sniffed. Nothing.
He sat on the bed and frowned. Where was the smell coming from? He sniffed again. It seemed stronger over here.
A feeling of dread settled in Katsuki’s chest. He bent down and smelled his sheets. A sweet scent flooded his nose. “Fuck!”
The soreness. The headaches. He had been more tired than usual too. These were all signs he was about to present as his secondary gender. Alphas presented early, and once Katsuki turned 16 he had given up on being one, shoving the information about presenting to the back of his mind. But Omegas presented at a later age and the last symptom they showed was a sweet scent several days before their first heat.
He was an Omega.
“Fucking hell!” He ripped the sheets off the bed and blew them up. Then he grabbed the pillow and did the same. White feathers blew out all over the room. “This is not fucking happening!”
He gripped his hair and sat on the stripped bed. What the fuck was he going to do? Nobody respected Omega pro heroes. He would never be able to make it to the top as one. He had already missed out on being an Alpha; did the universe really have to shit on his dreams this much? This couldn’t be happening. He had to find a way to fix this.
He looked at his door. As soon as he took one step outside this room, everyone would know. There were no other Omegas in the class. Everyone would figure out the smell was coming from him. He would be a laughingstock. He would have to drop out of school. His goal of being a hero would be over. He couldn’t let them find out. He couldn’t. That could never happen. They can’t know the truth.
He gasped, pulling on the neck of his tank top. His chest felt tight and he couldn’t catch his breath. Darkness crept into the edges of his vision and the room started to spin. He slid off the bed and hugged his knees to his chest. Fuck, come on, breath you idiot! He took in a stuttering breath and let it out with a whoosh. Come on, you can do better than that!
He forced in another breath. In . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4. Now, out . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4.
Good, now again. In . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4. Out . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4.
He choked, air getting caught in his throat. He gasped. Fuck, what was he, some loser extra? Focus! In . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4. Out . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4.
Slowly, he got his breathing back under control. He leaned back against the bed and covered his face with his hand. He hadn’t had a panic attack that bad in months. His skin still tingled from the after effects and he felt exhausted. Could he be any more pathetic? Maybe he deserved to be an Omega if he was this weak.
He groaned. What was he going to do? Even if he went on suppressants, everyone would still smell the difference. He couldn’t even start them until after his first heat anyway. Something about it helping the hormones to stabilize. Maybe he could get a hold of some another way and take extra. If he did that and sprayed himself in some disgusting perfume like Aoyoma did, nobody would notice. No, he didn’t think he could stand reeking like that. He had to think of some other way to hide this.
He suddenly sat up. There was another option. Slowly, he got up and went to his bag. He opened it and pulled out the little bag of pills he had taken off the villain last night. These suppressants completely blocked pheromones. Nobody would be able to tell he was an Omega if he took these.
He walked back over to the bed and sat down. He stared at the pills in his hand. They were illegal for a reason. There was no telling what kind of side effects they would cause or what kind of damage they would do to his body. Was he really so fucking desperate he was going to try something like this? If he did this, he would have to keep doing it. He’d have to keep taking the pills, or ones like them, for the rest of his life. Or take other, more drastic options. He had heard rumors of doctors who did surgeries to change someone’s secondary gender. It was dangerous, not to mention illegal.
He wanted to be a Hero. If he did this, he would have to be very careful. He would be dealing with the very people he should be trying to arrest. If word ever got out, he would be finished. Heroes were not above the law. He would need to constantly watch his back to make sure nobody found out the truth. Was it worth it? Could he really live his life like that? But what other choice did he have? He couldn’t let everybody else find out.
He glanced at the clock. Everyone would be waking up soon. He didn’t have much time.
He looked at the pills again. Maybe, he could just delay things for a bit. Nobody had to know he presented today. He just needed time to think of a better plan. He ripped open the bag and popped one of the pills in his mouth. He hoped they worked fast.
He dug around in the back of his nightstand until he found the clear scent gland patches. They were designed to be unnoticeable unless you were looking closely. They wouldn’t complete block scents but would hopefully help until the pill started working. He had never needed them before but he kept some around in case Kirishima forgot to buy them. He put them on the scent glands on his neck and wrists.
He cleaned his room and remade the bed with fresh sheets, waiting as long as he could to give the pill time to work. He jumped when he heard a knock on his door. “Hey man, you ready yet?”
It was Kirishima. Usually Katsuki woke up early to go for a run and they met up after to go to class together. He hadn’t realized it had gotten this late.
“Give me a minute!” He quickly got dressed and grabbed his bag. He slipped out of the room, quickly closing the door before Kirishima could smell anything.
“You okay man?” Kirishima held a hand to Katsuki’s forehead. “You look a little pale.”
Katsuki swatted him away. “I’m fine. Just tired.”
“Okay.” Kirishima grinned. “Try not to push yourself too hard today.” He sniffed the air and frowned. “Hey, do you smell – ”
Katsuki grabbed his arm and yanked him down the hallway. “Come on or we’ll be fucking late.”
“No, I told you to use this formula!” Katsuki glared at Kaminari. “Seriously, how stupid are you?”
“Math is hard,” Kaminari whined, erasing the work he had done on the problem.
“Bakugou, is this right?” Kirishima held out his notebook.
Katsuki looked it over. “You screwed up the addition at the end.”
“Oops.” Kirishima fixed it and held it back out. “Good now?” Katsuki nodded. “Yay, halfway done!”
“You’re that far already?” Kaminari leaned over the table. “Show me your notes.”
Katsuki pushed his face back. “Figure it out yourself!”
Kaminari pouted. “But I’ll be here all night!”
“Tough shit. Get smarter.” Katsuki groaned and rubbed his forehead. He could feel a headache coming on. These idiots got dumber by the day. Why had he ever agreed to tutor them?
The suppressants were working so far. He hadn’t noticed any more sweet scent since that first day and nobody else had commented on it. He was still a little sore and tired, but he could deal with that. He had been getting headaches more often too but that could just be from dealing with his idiot classmates. The only probably was that he was down to his last three pills. He had to find a way to get more.
“Bakugou, how’d I do with this one?” Kirishima asked.
Katsuki looked it over. “Good. Now do the next one.”
“What about me?” Kaminari asked, thrusting his notebook at Katsuki’s face.
He grabbed it and looked it over. Then he rolled it up and smacked Kaminari on the head. “How many fucking times do I have to tell you? You’re using the wrong formula!”
After another hour, Katsuki was fucking done. His head was pounding and his right eye was twitching. He leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes. At least Kirishima seemed to get it; Kaminari was just sneaking peeks at Kirishima’s work when he thought Katsuki wasn’t looking. Whatever. Let the electric dunce fail.
“Hey, have you guys heard about that new drug going around? The hormone suppressant?” Ashido asked.
His ears perked up. He glanced back toward the couches.
Deku and Todoroki were sitting together on one couch, as usual. Sero was playing a game on the TV. Ashido and Iida were sitting on the other couch. Katsuki squinted. Was Ashido actually painting Glasses nails?
Deku and Todoroki shared a look. “Actually, Endeavor has been trying to track down the suppliers,” Deku said. “Do you know anything?”
Ashido shook her head. “Just rumors. Apparently a couple of people near our patrol route got really sick taking them. They had to be rushed to the hospital.”
Katsuki felt his stomach drop. They probably just took too much. Katsuki was being careful. It would be fine.
“What does the drug do?” Sero asked.
“It completely shuts down hormone production,” Deku said. “It can lead to some really nasty complications.”
“I can’t understand why anybody would want to take an illicit substance,” Iida said. He waved his arms. “This drug is banned because it is unsafe. There are plenty of medically approved options to choose from.”
“Stop moving around, you’ll smear it!” Ashido cried, grabbing Iida’s hand. “Ugh, now I have to fix it!” She started dabbing at Iida’s fingertips with a paper towel. “So Midoriya, Todoroki, you guys are on suppressants, right? Does this new one work differently or something?”
“Umm.” Deku scratched the back of his head. “Sort of?”
“Suppressants just lower hormone production; they don’t stop it,” Kirishima called out. Katsuki glanced at him. Guess the red-head had been listening too.
“Have you heard about the drugs Kirishima?” Deku asked.
Kirishima nodded. He stood up and walked over to the group. Katsuki sighed and followed. They were about done anyway.
“Hey, where are you going Blasty? I need you!” Kaminari whined.
“I told Bakugou about it already,” Kirishima said, sitting next to Ashido. “Fat Gum found a couple people dealing in his agency’s area.” He leaned over and looked at Iida’s nails. “Hey, nice color!”
“I told Endeavor about it.” Katsuki shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned against the couch.
“I still don’t understand why people would take something like that,” Iida said, holding his hands very still for Ashido.
“Not everyone likes their secondary gender,” Todoroki said. Deku leaned against his side and kissed his cheek.
During the first year Sports Festival, Katsuki had heard Todoroki and Deku talking. It was hard to believe all the crap Todoroki went through, from his parents’ quirk marriage to his mom and his abusive dad. Not only did he get his flames from his father, Todoroki was an Alpha just like Endeavor too. Katsuki could understand why he hated that side of himself so much, even if he personally would kill to be an Alpha.
“I don’t know about an Alpha,” Sero said, putting his controller down and turning to face them. “But I could understand why an Omega would want to take them.”
Katsuki clenched his hands in his pockets. “Why’s that?” he asked sharply. Kirishima glanced up at him with a frown.
“There’s still a lot of prejudice against Omegas.” Sero scratched the back of his head. “I mean, how many Omega pro heroes do you know?”
“There’s Crimson Riot,” Kirishima said.
“But that’s just one,” Ashido said. She blew on Iida’s nails. “I can’t think of any others.”
“There’s Recovery Girl but she was a support hero. Most of the ones I know were either support heroes or sidekicks,” Deku said.
“See?” Sero said.
“That may be the case for heroes but surely it’s better for the average citizen,” Iida said.
Sero shrugged. “I’m not an Omega, so I don’t know. Oh, what about you Bakugou?”
He flinched. “What about me?”
Sero frowned. “What do you mean? Isn’t your mom an Omega? Does she have any problems?”
Shit, calm down Katsuki. Of course they don’t know. “She says people are bastards but it’s hard to tell if it’s her gender or her shitty personality.”
Kaminari snorted as he came to lean on the back of the couch next to Katsuki. “That’s an understatement. She’s a female you. She clearly should have been an Alpha; we are the superior gender after all.”
Katsuki glared at him. “Then why the fuck is a Beta tutoring you and kicking your ass in training?”
Kaminari shrugged. “Freaks of nature happen.”
Kirishima hopped up to sit on the back of the couch just as Katsuki turned toward the electric freak, blocking him from view. “I don’t think any one gender is better.”
“I agree,” Deku said. “Your secondary gender shouldn’t matter. It’s who you are as a person.”
“Says the Alpha.” Kaminari winked.
Deku flinched. The nerd hadn’t presented as an Alpha until right after starting high school. It was late, but not entirely unheard of. Katsuki suspected it was because of One for All.
“Still, Omegas have to deal with more crap than the other genders.” Sero shook his head. “I’m just glad I’m not one.”
This conversation was making him feel sick. He pushed off the couch and turned away. “Later losers. I’m going to bed.”
“Wait, Bakugou, I still need help on my math homework!” Kaminari cried.
Katsuki flipped him off and kept walking.
Katsuki blasted through the air. They had found another group dealing the suppressants. Endeavor had managed to grab the lead villain and one of his lackeys. The other two had run.
He spotted one of the villains but Deku was right on his tail. Fuck, he needed to find one of them alone. Katsuki had taken his last pill this morning; he hoped one of these had some on them he could pocket without anyone noticing. It turned his stomach stealing evidence like this but he didn’t have a choice. He couldn’t have anyone knowing he was an Omega.
He turned and blasted down another street. There. He put on a burst of speed and grabbed the villain. The man screamed as he was lifted into the air.
Katsuki used his free hand to slow down and land. As soon as his feet touched the ground, he spun the villain and shoved him face-first into a wall. “Where are the drugs?”
“I d-don’t know what you’re talking about,” the villain said.
Katsuki rolled his eyes and cuffed him. He patting the man down and found a bulge on his side. He ripped his jacket open and found several packets of pills in an inside pocket. He held them up. “Still deny it?”
“Great work Dynamight!” Onima ran up to him. “That’s the last one.” He grabbed the villain by one arm and held out his hand. “I’ll take the drugs to give to the police with this guy.”
Katsuki pulled at his glove, palming two of the packets, then dropped the rest in Onima’s hand.
“Thanks,” Onima said. “Endeavor wants to talk with everyone. I think he has another lead. Hopefully we can get rid of this drug soon.”
Katsuki clenched his hand, feeling the packets crinkle. “I’m on it.” He turned, slipping the pills into his pocket, and blasted off. He felt like scum but he had to do this. He didn’t have a choice.

Chapter Text
Katsuki groaned as he opened his eyes. His muscles ached. He shouldn’t have pushed so hard training with All Might and Deku last night. He stood up out of bed and immediately fell back down as a wave of dizziness hit him. This was horrifyingly familiar.
He pushed himself up again and stumbled to his dresser. He dug into the back of one drawer with shaking hands and pulled out the pills. He usually took one but today he took two. He hesitated before putting them back. If his heat was trying to start, two might not be enough. After a long moment, he sighed and shoved them back behind his socks. He didn’t want to risk it if he didn’t have to. He could always take another one later if it got worse.
He made his way back to the bed and laid down. He’d skip running today to give the pills a chance to work.
Half an hour later, the dizziness had disappeared and the aching had lessened to mild soreness. Except now he had a pounding headache. He grit his teeth and got dressed, remembering at the last minute to put on the scent gland patches. He didn’t need anything leaking out today.
Kirishima looked up as he came down to breakfast. “Hey man, not running today?”
“Didn’t feel like it,” he muttered. He wasn’t hungry but he made some oatmeal with dried fruit anyway and forced himself to eat it.
“You okay man?” He looked up to see Kirishima frowning. “You seem grumpy this morning.”
He grunted. “Headache.”
“Shit, sorry. Want me to get you some aspirin?” Kirishima offered.
“I’m fine, took some already.” He stood and dumped the rest of his breakfast. He couldn’t eat anymore.
Kirishima still looked worried as they headed upstairs to grab their bags. “Seriously, man, you look like crap. Maybe you should stay in bed today.”
“I said I’m fine!” He grabbed his bag from his room and slammed the door.
Kirishima sighed. “Okay, if you say so.”
Katsuki ignored him, rubbing his right eye as it started to twitch. He could handle this. The suppressants must have not kicked in fully yet. He would be fine.
Katsuki’s soreness had gotten worse again by his afternoon training class. His whole body ached now. He was also getting flashes in his right eye that usually signaled the start of a migraine. He ground his teeth. The suppressants should’ve stopped his heat from starting but it looked like they were failing. He needed to last long enough to get back to his room and take more.
“I think you should sit out,” Kirishima said as they got changed. “You look pale.” He reached a hand out to Katsuki’s forehead.
He jerked back. “Fuck off, I’m fine.” He slammed his locker shut and left the room.
They were doing combat training in pairs today. Katsuki could handle that even feeling like shit. Nobody in this class was much of a challenge. Todoroki or Deku might put up some fight but Todoroki wasn’t looking great today either and Deku was too worried about him to be a threat.
His first partner was Ojiro. He quickly demolished the loser then sat off to the side to wait for the other matches to finish.
He wiped sweat from his forehead. He was getting hot. Maybe he should make an excuse to leave class early. Better for people to think he was ditching then get found out. A sweet scent reached his nose and he froze. Fuck, was he giving off pheromones already? He sniffed his wrist. No, it was coming from somewhere else. Someone out on the field.
His eyes trailed over the class. A small group were Alphas, the rest betas. He watched the ones who hadn’t presented yet, trying to pick out who it was.
A moan caused his eyes to snap to Todoroki. He was clutching his stomach and collapsed to his knees. Katsuki sniffed. The smell seemed to be coming from his direction. Wasn’t he an Alpha?
Deku ran to him. “Shouto!” He flinched as a gout of flame shot towards him.
“Stay back!” Todoroki yelled. He curled up on the ground, ice forming around him. When Deku took another couple steps, ice shot toward him in jagged spears, causing Deku to leap out of the way.
Katsuki jumped to his feet. “Shit.” When Omegas presented, they usually saw Alphas as a threat unless they were close to them. In that case, the Alpha’s scent could help keep them calm and feeling safe. Todoroki and Deku were dating but Todoroki wasn’t letting his boyfriend get close. It had to be because Todoroki was an Alpha himself and instinctively saw Deku as a rival. But what the fuck was going on? He had never heard of someone having two secondary genders before.
“Shouto!” Deku called, standing outside the circle of ice spreading around Todoroki. “Shouto, please, can you hear me? I want to help you!”
“Go away,” Todoroki groaned. The ice was slowly growing upwards now, forming walls to keep everyone back.
“Iida, go get Recovery Girl now!” Aizawa snapped. “All Alphas stay back! Don’t provoke him!”
“Isn’t there anything we can do?” Yaoyorozu asked.
Aizawa shook his head. “Only an Omega can get close to him right now. We need to wait on Recovery Girl.”
“Can’t you just cancel his quirk out?” Kaminari asked. “Then one of the betas can get to him.”
“It would likely cause him to panic,” Aizawa said. “It could cause his Alpha side to go feral.”
“There has to be something we can do!” Kirishima cried. “He looks like he’s in pain.”
The ice wall had stopped growing at about two feet tall, probably because Todoroki couldn’t keep his concentration on it. He was curled tightly around himself, panting hard.
God dammit. Todoroki may be an asshole but Katsuki couldn’t just stand there and watch him suffer when he knew he could help. The damn candy cane better appreciate what he was about to do for him. He started ripping off the clear patches on his scent glands.
Kaminari and Kirishima suddenly looked towards him, sniffing the air. “Dude, what’s going on?” Kaminari asked.
Kirishima’s eyes widened. “That smell. . .”
Katsuki pushed through the class towards Aizawa, ignoring the stares as his scent started leaking into the air. “I can get to him.”
Aizawa narrowed his eyes. “We’re talking about this afterwards.”
Katsuki huffed. “Yeah, I know. Just let me do this first.”
“Once I cancel his quirk, you won’t have long to reach him before he panics,” Aizawa said. “Move quick.”
His classmates all stepped back as he walked to the edge of the ice. Deku stayed, biting his lip as he looked between Todoroki and Katsuki. “Please help him,” Deku said.
Katsuki nodded. “Hey Icyhot!”
Gray and blue eyes glared at him. “Go away!” Ice spikes shot at Katsuki.
He dodged and glanced back at Aizawa. His teacher nodded.
As Katsuki stepped forward, Todoroki flung his left hand out at him. His expression became panicked when no flame appeared. “What? No, get away!” He scrambled back.
Katsuki hopped over the ice wall and crouched down. He concentrated on forcing as much pheromones out as he could. “Icyhot, you need to stop this shit. You’re worrying Deku.”
Todoroki’s eyes darted toward his boyfriend. “Izuku?” His breathing had slowed but he was still shuddering. Katsuki wasn’t sure if it was fear or pain, so he continued to pump out pheromones. He was starting to get dizzy.
“Todoroki.” The other boy looked over in surprise at his name. Katsuki held out his hand. “Come here.”
Todoroki stared at him. Slowly he crawled forward and reached for Katsuki’s hand. Once they touched, he pulled himself closer, pressing his nose right to the scent gland on Katsuki’s neck.
Katsuki shuddered. Todoroki’s scent was overwhelming, a mix of pissed off Alpha and Omega going into heat. It was making him dizzier and he put a hand against the ice to steady himself. “Quit it with the pheromones, wouldja?”
Todoroki moaned and rubbed his face against Katsuki.
Todoroki was calmer, but now everyone had to stay back because of the heat pheromones starting to spread. Katsuki endured it as best he could but he was getting really lightheaded. The aches and soreness from earlier had intensified and he was boiling hot. He knew Omegas could sometimes trigger each other’s heats and he guessed that was what was happening to him. He knew he should have taken that extra dose this morning, risks be damned.
He was barely hanging on by the time Recovery Girl arrived. He gladly relinquished Todoroki, slumping back against the ice wall. He panted, suddenly having a hard time catching his breath.
Recovery Girl frowned at him. “You better come with us. You were exposed to a lot of concentrated pheromones.”
“Fuck off.” He struggled up to his feet. The ground was spinning and he couldn’t keep his balance. His vision started to waver.
“Bakugou!”
“Kacchan!”
He heard people calling him but couldn’t answer. The ground rushed up to greet him as everything went black.

A little shorter this time but I couldn't resist the cliffhanger 😜
Chapter 3: Consequences
Chapter Text
Katsuki slowly blinked his eyes open. His whole body was sore. Did he overdo it in training yesterday? He tried to remember what he did last night but his head was fuzzy. He reached towards his nightstand to grab his phone but his hand met empty air. He frowned and looked around, just now realizing he was not in his dorm room.
The room was white and empty except for a small refrigerator and the bed. The door was shut and there was no handle on the inside. An intercom was on the wall next to the door.
He pushed himself up carefully. He was naked and he had flaky white patches on his stomach and chest. He scratched at one of them and grimaced. “Oh.”
It was slowly coming back to him now. The training class, Todoroki presenting, Katsuki trying to calm him. He guessed he really did go into heat. This must be one of the heat rooms they had for students who were going through their first heats or couldn’t spend them in the dorms for some reason.
He got off the bed and staggered over to the intercom. “Hey, anyone out there?”
“Good afternoon Bakugou,” Recovery Girl said. “Finally back with us?”
Finally? How long had he been in here? “Fucking obviously,” he snapped. “When can I get out of here?”
“Give me a few minutes.”
He waited impatiently, stretching out his legs by pacing around the small room. Soon, the door clicked and popped open with a whoosh of air. He peeked his head out into the hallway.
Nobody was around. A chair was in front of his room with a change of clothes and a piece of paper. He slowly left the room, acutely aware he was naked and covered in cum.
The paper was directions to the showers. He immediately grabbed the clothes and went where the paper said. The shower room was also empty and he jumped into the first stall, immensely glad to wash the cum and sweat off his skin. He dried off and pulled the clothes on, noticing they were his own. Someone must have brought them from his room.
Recovery Girl was waiting outside when he was finished. “This way.” Katsuki followed her out of the heat wing and into the main room of the infirmary he was most familiar with. “Sit.” He sat in the chair she pointed to. “Hold out your arm.” He winced as she stuck a needle in his arm and took a vial of blood. “Here, put pressure on that.” He held the gauze to his arm as she put the blood into a machine. It beeped after a few seconds. “Hmm.”
Recovery Girl sat down across from him and sighed. “You put yourself in a lot of danger, Bakugou. Those suppressants you were on threw your hormones out of balance. You’ve been in heat the last six days.”
Katsuki’s eyes widened. “Six?” Heats normally only lasted 3 or 4 days.
“There is a reason Alphas and Omegas don’t start suppressants until after their first rut or heat. The body needs time to change and adjust to the new hormones.” Recovery Girl glared at him. “You didn’t give your body the chance, which is why your heat lasted so long. The suppressants were also of an inferior quality, which caused other problems.”
Katsuki swallowed. “What problems?”
Recovery Girl sighed. “Your hormones still haven’t settled. We can’t put you on standard suppressants until they do. It also makes it impossible to predict when your next heat will happen.”
Katsuki shot up. “Fuck that! I need those suppressants!” No way was he going around with his hormones leaking everywhere, announcing to anyone with a sense of smell that he was an Omega.
“Sit down.” Recovery Girl stared at him until he sat. “You can’t go on suppressants until your hormones level out. Scent patches are okay but that’s it.”
Katsuki glared at her. “I can’t go to class like that.”
“You should have thought of that before taking those illegal suppressants,” Recovery Girl said. “There’s a reason why they’re banned. They completely suppress hormone production instead of just lowering it like standard suppressants. It can lead to lasting damage if taken for too long.”
“I need suppressants,” Katsuki insisted, clenching his hands. “I can’t be an Omega.”
“Oh Bakugou,” Recovery Girl said softly. “There is nothing wrong with being an Omega. They are just as capable as anyone else.”
“Then why has there barely been any Omega pro heroes?” Katsuki snapped.
“Discrimination, which this school is trying to change.” Recovery Girl looked at him seriously. “Omega pros do have certain obstacles to overcome but frankly so do Alphas. There is no reason someone as strong and determined as yourself couldn’t become a pro hero. You were already a match for the Alphas in strength. You will get over this obstacle too.”
Katsuki frowned. He only knew of six Omega pro heroes and none had made it into the top ten. He didn’t want to deal with heats and all the other crap that came with being an Omega. He just wanted to be the top hero.
“By the way, we had to contact your parents,” Recovery Girl said. “Your mother is expecting a call from you now that your coherent.”
Katsuki winced. Fuck, he was dead. His mother was an Omega but as fierce as any Alpha. She would beat the crap out of Katsuki for the stunt he pulled. She was always supportive of his dream to be a hero, even when he didn’t present as an Alpha. She hated gender stereotypes and always said a person’s strength didn’t depend on their secondary gender. His actions were basically a big middle finger at everything she had ever taught him.
Recovery Girl patted his shoulder. “Maybe you should rest today. Call her tomorrow.” She handed him a pile of papers and pamphlets. “Read through these materials and let me know if you have any questions. There is a heat release form if you want someone with you for your next heat. I would turn that in quickly if you decide on someone; we don’t know when your heat will happen.”
Katsuki flushed. “Got it.”
“Rest tomorrow, but then I want you to come in daily for a hormone check,” Recovery Girl said. “We need to keep an eye on your levels.”
Katsuki sighed but knew better than to protest. “Fine.” He stood up and headed for the door.
“Say hello to Kirishima for me.”
Katsuki frowned. What the hell? Why him? The question was answered as soon as he stepped into the hall.
Kirishima’s head snapped up and he scrambled up off the floor. “Hey, man, glad to see you!”
Katsuki stopped in his tracks. “What the fuck are you doing here?”
“I’ve been worried about you.” Kirishima frowned. “I’ve been checking every day but Recovery Girl wasn’t sure when your heat would end. She called me when it did and I brought some clothes over for you.”
Those must have been the clothes Katsuki was wearing. He narrowed his eyes. “Why are you doing all this? Some fucked up Alpha caring for the weak Omega shit?”
Kirishima sighed. “I know you’re not weak. You’re my friend and I care about you.”
Katsuki didn’t believe that. He couldn’t picture Kirishima waiting outside the infirmary for six days for Kaminari or Sero. He was tired though, so he let it drop. “Whatever, let’s go.”
The few students they passed on the way to the dorms stared at him. It looked like word had spread about what happened. “What about Todoroki?” he asked, suddenly realizing he hadn’t seen or heard anything about him since waking up.
Kirishima frowned. “They had to transport him to a specialty center. Know how his quirk is split between left and right? Well, apparently his gender split the same way. Left half Alpha, right have Omega.” He looked down. “Midoriya’s been trying to get permission to see him but they won’t let him.”
“That sucks.” At least Katsuki only had the Omega side to deal with. He couldn’t imagine having both halves warring inside him.
He paused at the entrance to the dorms. “Everyone’s waiting inside, right?”
Kirishima winced. “Sorry, man. Kaminari heard when I left.”
Katsuki sighed heavily. “Let’s get it over with.” He pushed the door open and walked inside.
Numerous voices shouted at him as soon as he was spotted.
“Blasty, are you really an Omega?” Kaminari asked.
“Dude, seriously, we talked about this,” Sero said, shaking his head.
“Good to see you Bakugou,” Uraraka called.
“Welcome back Bakugou,” Iida said. “We are glad you are feeling better.”
Katsuki ignored all of them as he walked quickly to the elevator. He wasn’t up for dealing with this shit right now.
“Bakugou still needs some rest,” Kirishima said to the extras as he followed Katsuki. “Give him some space.” He sighed once they were safely in the elevator. “Sorry again about that. They were just worried about you.”
Katsuki shrugged. “It’s fine.” The damn extras were always butting into his life. He knew he would have to face them eventually.
He did notice he didn’t hear Deku’s voice. He guessed the nerd was too busy worrying about his boyfriend.
Kirishima paused outside of Katsuki’s door. “Well, let me know if you need anything.”
Katsuki nodded. Kirishima didn’t move until Katsuki went into his room and locked the door. Then he heard Kirishima go into his own room. Weird.
Katsuki sat on his bed and sighed. He started flipping through the papers Recovery Girl had given him. Most were the standard information given out to any newly presented omega though there were a couple of articles on the dangers of black market suppressants. Fuck, he got it. He wouldn’t take the damn things again. He had already noticed someone had been in his room and removed the stash he had anyway.
He paused on the heat release form. There was only one person he would ever consider listing but he didn’t think he would agree. Better to leave it blank.
He went to put the paper down and hesitated. “Fuck it.” He grabbed a pen, scrawled a name, and signed it. There. When Katsuki went into heat again, he would be notified. It would be up to him if he spent it with Katsuki or not. It was a crappy move and he knew he should talk to him about it before hand but he didn’t want to deal with a rejection. Katsuki had never expressed an interest in him before; the guy probably wouldn’t agree to it anyway.
He tossed the papers on his desk and curled up on the bed. He was really tired. He would take a nap and deal with everything else later.
His phone ringing woke him up awhile later. He cursed and smacked around on his nightstand until he found it. “Hello?”
“ Katsuki, what the hell were you thinking!?”
He groaned and rolled over on his back. “Shut up, you old hag. I was trying to sleep.”
“Oh, so sorry to disturb your beauty rest,” his mother snapped. “I’ve just been sitting here worried because you’ve been in heat for six days. Do you know how much damage those suppressants could have caused?”
He remembered the articles he had skimmed through. “Yeah, I’m aware.”
“Then why the hell did you take them!?” his mother yelled. “You could have permanently hurt yourself. You can’t be a pro hero if you’re dead.”
Katsuki winced. “I didn’t want to present as an Omega,” he muttered.
There was a long pause. “I better not have heard that right. You did not just say that you were so upset at being an Omega that you took an illegal drug and nearly killed yourself.”
“It wasn’t that bad,” he protested.
“It could have been!” His mother sighed. “God, Katsuki, did you listen to anything I told you growing up? Secondary genders don’t mean shit. It’s your actions that count.”
“Then why aren’t there any Omegas in the top spots?” Katsuki snapped.
“Because people are idiots,” his mother shot back. “You said you would reach the top spot as a Beta. Are you going to give up just because you’re an Omega now?”
Katsuki growled. “Of course not!”
“Then don’t pull anything like this again,” his mother said. “I’ll be receiving updates from the school on your health, so don’t even think about lying to me.”
Katsuki groaned. As if this whole situation wasn’t embarrassing enough, now his mother would get updates on his sexual health. She would probably know exactly when he went into heat again too. He knew he fucked up but he didn’t think he deserved this level of punishment.
“ Have you picked a heat partner yet?”
“What the fuck?” he yelled, his face burning. Fuck, he was not having this conversation with her.
“Don’t wait too long. Since you fucked up your hormone levels, we don’t know when your next heat will be.” His mother sighed. “And don’t just put someone’s name on the form. Actually talk to them about it.”
What was she, a damn psychic? “I’m not discussing this with you.”
“I’m serious, brat. Heats are easier to handle with another person. Especially an Alpha.”
He must have died. The suppressants killed him and now he was in hell talking about heat sex with his mother. “I gotta go.” He hung up the phone and tossed it on his nightstand. A few seconds later, it started ringing again.
Katsuki groaned and stuck his head under his pillow. He couldn’t deal with this right now. He just wanted to sleep and pretend this never happened.
Some time later, someone knocked on his door. He jerked out of his doze and blinked at the clock. He had been asleep for about six hours.
“Hey Bakugou, you up?” Kirishima called through the door.
He groaned and pushed himself up. “What?” he snapped as he opened the door.
Kirishima held up a bag. “I figured you wouldn’t want to eat with everyone else so I brought dinner.”
“I’m not hungry,” Katsuki said. His stomach growled loudly. Traitor.
Kirishima grinned. “It’s your favorite from that curry place down the street.” He shook the bag in front of him, letting the delicious smells seep into the air.
Katsuki glared at him but took a step back. Kirishima immediately entered and started unpacking the bag on his desk. “I asked them to make it extra spicy just how you like it.”
Katsuki took the food and sat on his bed. “Thanks.”
They ate in silence for several minutes. Kirishima tapped his spoon against the container and glanced at Katsuki. “So, how are you feeling?”
Katsuki sighed. He was expecting this. “I’m fine.”
“Oh, good.” Kirishima looked around and spotted the papers on Katsuki’s desk. “Is this the stuff Recovery Girl gave you?” He picked it up and flipped through it.
“It’s just Omega shit,” Katsuki said.
Kirishima frowned down at one of the pages. “Illegal suppressants?” He glanced at Katsuki. “Is that what they were looking for? I know they searched your room the day after you collapsed.”
Katsuki clenched his jaw. “Just forget about it.”
Kirishima put the papers down and turned the chair to face him. “Why didn’t you tell anyone when you presented?”
“It’s not anyone’s business,” Katsuki snapped.
“Were you ashamed?” Katsuki looked down at his lap. “Being an Omega doesn’t change anything.”
Katsuki snorted. “Omega heroes never get into the top spots.”
“Crimson Riot – ”
“Made it into the top twenty, I know,” Katsuki said. “But there has never been an Omega in the top ten and number one is always an Alpha.”
“So?” Kirishima shrugged. “You said you would be the first Beta to make number one. Can’t you still do that as an Omega?”
Katsuki stabbed at his food. “You sound like my mom.”
“Isn’t she an Omega too?” Kirishima asked. “Do you think she’s weak?”
Katsuki snorted, remembering their earlier conversation. “Fuck no.”
“Then what’s the problem?” He looked up at Kirishima, who grinned. “I still think you can do it.”
Katsuki flushed and looked down at his food. “Course I can,” he muttered. “I beat your Alpha ass all the time.”
“Just means I have to get stronger!” Kirishima pounded his fists together.
Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Then do better at your school work.”
“I can when you help me!” Kirishima scratched the back of his head. “Hey, huh, can I ask a personal question?”
Katsuki sighed. “What is it?” he asked, scooping up some food.
“Um. . .” Kirishima looked away. “Have you thought about a heat partner?”
Katsuki choked on the bite he had just taken. “What the hell?” he wheezed.
“Sorry!” Kirishima blushed. “I just know with ruts it’s easier when we have a partner. I figured it’s the same for heats.”
Katsuki blushed. “I’m handling it.”
“Oh, okay.” Kirishima picked up his spoon but just stared at his food. “You know, I just remembered I told Kaminari I would hang out with him. I should go.” He packed up his food and walked to the door. He paused and looked back. “Get some rest, okay?”
Katsuki frowned as he left. That was weird, even for Kirishima. Maybe he was uncomfortable talking about Katsuki’s heat? But then why did he bring it up in the first place? Katsuki shook his head. He could never tell what was going on in that idiot’s mind.
He finished his food and tossed the empty container in the trash can before crawling back into bed. Tomorrow he would have to face everyone else and the fact that his life had completely changed. Right now he was still tired and could hide from reality a little longer in his dreams.

Chapter Text
Katsuki got up early the next day. The exhaustion and headache were gone so he decided to get dressed and go on his usual jog. It helped ease the lingering soreness in his muscles and he was feeling pretty good by the time he got back.
That feeling quickly disappeared when he saw some of his classmates already eating breakfast.
“Blasty!” Ashido cried. “The Omega man is back!”
“How long did your heat last?” Kaminari asked. Sero punched him in the shoulder. “Ow! Knock it off; I have money riding on this!”
“Took a morning run I see,” Iida said, nodding approvingly. “It is good to stay active.”
“It’s good to see you Bakugou,” Asui said.
“Uh thanks.” He went into the kitchen and grabbed his cereal from the cabinet. He could hear everyone whispering as he poured himself a bowl. He growled, crumbling the cereal box in his hand. He wasn’t some kind of spectacle; Omegas weren’t that rare.
He grabbed the milk and slammed the fridge shut.
“Morning Bakugou,” Kirishima said as he entered the kitchen. “Went for a run?”
Katsuki grunted, viciously tearing off a banana from the bunch on the counter and imagining it was Kaminari’s arm.
Kirishima glanced out at their classmates then back to Katsuki. “Just give it a couple of days. Everyone was pretty shocked.”
“It’s none of their damn business,” Katsuki snapped.
Kirishima sighed. “Maybe not but they were worried about you. Cut them a little slack.”
Katsuki glared at them. “I’m killing whoever pisses me off.”
Everybody looked up when Katsuki slammed his breakfast on the table. “You have until I’m finished eating to ask your questions. Then I don’t want to hear another word about it.”
“How long was your heat?” Kaminari immediately asked.
Katsuki peeled his banana and took a bite. “Six days.”
Kaminari groaned and Sero elbowed him. “Should have kept your mouth shut like I told you to.”
“So you’re really an Omega now? What’s it like?” Ashido asked.
Katsuki frowned as he took another bite. “I don’t feel any different.”
“Being an Alpha didn’t feel any different to me,” Kirishima said, sitting down next to Katsuki. “I imagine it’s the same for Omegas.”
“Except the heats,” Kaminari pointed out.
Sero tore off a strip of tape and slapped it over Kaminari’s mouth. “That is enough out of you.”
“My cousin is an Omega,” Asui said. “She said she was more flexible after she presented.”
“That would be great for you Blasty. You’re always doing all those flippy things in the air.” Ashido waved her arms around and hit Kaminari in the face.
Katsuki smirked and poured milk into his cereal. That was true. Alphas were the ones who could bulk up more easily but too much weight would make it harder to fly. Added flexibility, especially in his shoulders, would help with his precision.
Katsuki took a bite of his cereal as he waited for the next question.
“Were you really taking those illegal suppressants?” Everyone turned to look at Shouji at the other table. “I heard the teachers talking when they checked your room.”
Katsuki put his spoon down. No use lying about it. “Yeah, I did.”
“That was completely irresponsible!” Iida cried. “You’ve been working with the heroes to stop the people dealing those drugs. You know how dangerous they are.”
“Lay off him,” Kirishima said with a frown. “He’s already been lectured enough.”
Katsuki help up a hand to stop him. “It was stupid. I regret doing it.”
“Why did you?” Sero asked.
Everybody got quiet, waiting for his answer. He poked his cereal with his spoon. He didn’t want to admit he was ashamed he was an Omega and tried to hide it. Enough people already knew that. He needed to tell them something, though, or they would come up with their own theories.
“Oh, Kacchan’s back.”
Everyone’s attention suddenly shifted to Deku. He flinched, clutching the cereal bar in his hands to his chest. “Um, good morning?”
“Good morning Midoriya,” Iida said gently. “How are you feeling today?”
Deku shrugged. “Okay, I guess.”
“Any word on Todoroki?” Sero asked.
“I talked to him last night.” Deku looked at the floor. “They aren’t sure how to help him. Apparently they’ve never heard of someone having two secondary genders before.”
“That’s rough,” Ashido said.
Deku nodded and wiped his eyes. “Um, Kacchan?”
“What is it?” He frowned as Deku walked over to him. Suddenly, the nerd threw himself at Katsuki. “What the fuck? Get off!”
“Thank you, thank you so much for helping Shouto.” His arms were wrapped around Katsuki and it took him a few seconds to realize it wasn’t an attack, it was a hug. “If you hadn’t been there, I don’t know what would have happened.”
Deku was dripping on his shirt. He looked to Kirishima for help but his friend was smiling at them.
Deku pulled away and wiped his eyes. “I’m so glad you’re an Omega. Thank you.”
Katsuki nodded, his throat tight. He didn’t know what to say.
“Um, I should go get ready.” Still wiping his eyes, Deku left.
“I think we’re done with the questions now,” Kirishima said softly.
His hormones still hadn’t stabilized. He sighed as he left the nurse and headed to class. Recovery Girl guessed he would have to go through another heat before they would level out. But since they were so off right now, she couldn’t guess when that might be.
Everyone went silent when he entered the classroom. He ground his teeth and walked to his desk. He was so done with this already.
Thankfully, Aizawa arrived a couple minutes later before any of the extras got brave enough to ask him more questions. He dropped a stack of papers on Bakugou’s desk. “Makeup work for the days you missed. Also, write a ten page paper on the dangers of the new illegal hormone suppressant. I expect it all on my desk by the end of the week.”
“Yes sir.” Katsuki stared at the stack. No way had he missed that much schoolwork in one week. He wouldn’t put it past Aizawa to have added extra assignments because he was pissed. Also the paper was clearly a punishment though it beat a suspension and missing more school.
Aizawa walked up to the lectern. “Now, there are some announcements this morning.”
At least Aizawa didn’t bring it up again for the rest of class. His other teachers weren’t so forgiving.
First period.
“Good morning everyone!” Present Mic yelled. “Today we are having a special class on distinguished English Omega literary writers.”
Second period.
“Good morning class,” Cementoss said. “Today is a special class focusing on prominent Japanese Omega writers.”
Third period.
“Good morning students,” Ectoplasm said. “Please get out last night’s homework. Who wants to show us problem one?”
Okay, math was normal at least.
Fourth period.
Midnight cracked her whip. “Wake up, students! Today we will be learning about Omega heroes and their costume designs.”
Katsuki sat up straighter. This one sounded interesting.
“First, we’ll start with an overview of Omega’s in society.” She started writing on the blackboard. “As I’m sure you’re aware, Betas make up the bulk of the population at 80%, with the remaining 20% split evenly between Alphas and Omegas. Now, does anybody know the percentage Omegas make up in law enforcement?”
Uraraka raised her hand. “Shouldn’t it be close to 10%?”
“If you consider the current laws demanding equality for secondary genders, it’s a good guess.” She wrote a number on the board. “Here is the actual percentage.”
3%
Katsuki blinked.
“Now, most of those Omegas are in administrative positions.” She wrote more figures on the board. “First responders such as firefighters are around 2%. High risk jobs such as construction workers are also around 2%.” She turned back to face the class. “Anyone want to guess the percentage Omegas hold among heroes?”
Nobody raised their hand.
“0.05%” She hopped on the table and kicked her legs. “A group that makes up 10% of our population only makes up 0.05% of the pro heros. This includes both retired and deceased heroes. Currently, there are 2 active Omega pro heroes and a dozen side kicks. In contrast, Alphas make up 18% of active pro heroes and sidekicks.” She crossed her arms. “Anybody have a guess why that is?”
Katsuki raised his hand. Everybody looked at him. “People think Omegas are too weak to be pro Heroes.”
Midnight hopped off the table. “Correct. The laws may have changed, but society still believes that Omegas need to be protected. They are actively discouraged from seeking jobs seen as dangerous and heroes have the most dangerous job out there. They are told it would be safer to pick a different career, that they would be too weak to protect themselves.” She stopped in front of Katsuki’s desk. “Do you think Omegas are too weak to become heroes?”
Katsuki narrowed his eyes. “Fuck no.”
Midnight smiled. “Correct again. Omegas are just as capable as anybody else. In fact, this school is trying to actively encourage more Omegas to go pro. Popular heroes have a high profile and can help change society’s views on Omegas as a whole. Then one day, there will be just as many Omega policemen, firefighters and heroes as there are Alphas.”
She went back to the blackboard and erased it. “Now, I assume some of you have heard of the hero Crimson Riot?” She smiled at Kirishima, who was nodding rapidly. “Crimson Riot fought hard for his spot in the rankings and designed many costume features that are still used by Omega heroes today.”
Katsuki took diligent notes, marking which costume designs he could implement in his own costume. Some, like masks to protect against pheromones, were already used by Alpha heroes. Others, like a special removable neck band so he could release pheromones to help calm feral Alphas, he never would have considered.
Omegas had to take some extra precautions but so did Alphas. Maybe Recovery Girl was right; there was no reason he couldn’t be a top hero and an Omega.
Katsuki stomped down the hallway. He was missing lunch, he still had a mountain of homework to get through and now some fucker wanted to talk to him. If it was another lecture about how stupid he’d been, he’d blow their head off.
He slammed the door open, intending to yell at whoever had summoned him, and froze. “Firetard?”
Endeavor frowned. “What was that?”
Katsuki winced. He had been hanging around Todoroki too much if that name slipped out. “Nothing.” He closed the door and took a few steps into the room. “Um, what do you want?”
“We need to talk.” Endeavor nodded at the chair in front of him. “Have a seat.”
Katsuki gingerly sat down. Fuck, was this about the drugs he stole? The school knew about them; they had to report it to someone and Endeavor would know exactly how he got a hold of them. He was going to get kicked out of his internship. Once word spread, nobody would take him after this.
“I’m going to have to suspend your internship for now,” Endeavor said, confirming his fears.
Katsuki crossed his arms. “Because of the drugs?”
“No,” he said, surprising Katsuki. “I’m not happy about that and we’ll be taking steps to make sure that it never happens again. However, my agency is partially to blame for not noticing the problem or that you were struggling. The school agrees as well, since this happened under their protection.”
“But you’re still suspending me.” Endeavor nodded. “Because I’m an Omega.”
Endeavor hesitated.
“That’s bullshit,” Katsuki snapped. “I’m stronger than half your sidekicks. You can’t kick me out!”
“I’m not,” Endeavor said. “This is a temporary suspension for medical reasons.”
Katsuki frowned. “What do you mean? I’m not injured.”
“I’ve been informed your hormones are unbalanced.” Endeavor crossed his arms. “I can’t have an Omega hero on the streets who can go into heat at any time. Once you are stable and on proper suppressants, you can return.”
“Oh.” Katsuki slumped back in his seat. It still sucked but it could have been way worse.
“I also owe you my thanks for helping Shouto.” Endeavor bowed his head. “You have my gratitude.”
Katsuki resisted the urge to take a picture of the number #1 hero bowing to him. Barely. “You can call us even if you do something for me.”
Endeavor lifted his head. “Besides not arresting you?”
Katsuki grimaced. Fair point. But this favor wasn’t for him. “Let Deku see Shouto.”
Endeavor scowled. “Out of the question.”
“You have to know they’re boyfriends. Probably going to be bonded someday.” He covered his mouth to hide a smirk as Endeavor clenched his jaw. “Having Deku there might help his hormones settle.”
Endeavor grunted. “I’ll think about it.”
It was the best he could get right now. Katsuki stood. “If that’s all, I have a paper to write.”
“Bakugou,” Endeavor called when he reached the door. “Don’t slack on your training while you’re gone.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it.” He slammed the door behind him.
“Kacchan!” Deku ran up to him on the couch and wrapped him in a hug. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
“Get off,” Katsuki yelled, pushing on Deku’s face until he let go. “I don’t remember doing a fucking thing for you.”
“I’m going to see Shouto tomorrow!” Deku said, bouncing on the balls of his feet. “He said his father changed his mind and muttered something about returning a favor. And, I know you saw Endeavor yesterday and he was probably grateful for you saving Shouto and you must have said something and now I can see Shouto and I’m just so happy and grateful and – ”
Katsuki put a hand over Deku’s mouth to shut him up. Everyone was looking at them with smirks on their faces. He felt his cheeks warm. “You’re wrong. Shut up and leave.”
Deku grinned. “Okay, Kacchan!” He actually fucking skipped away.
Kirishima nudged him. “That was sweet of you.”
“Shut up.”
Deku was gone for three days. When he returned, he collapsed face down on the couch and groaned.
“Finally back?” Uraraka asked, sitting next to him. “How was Todoroki?”
Deku turned his head so he could talk. “Great! The doctors have been struggling to find a mix of drugs that will suppress both his Alpha and Omega pheromones. They just started him on a new one they think should work.”
“You look exhausted,” Sero said. “I thought it was just a visit.”
Deku blushed. “It was,” he said, his voice high pitched and cracking.
Kaminari smirked. “I think I know what happened.” He abandoned Sero at the TV where they were playing a game and leaned on the arm rest by Deku’s head. “So was it a heat or a rut?”
Deku buried his face in the couch and moaned.
Katsuki threw a pencil at Kaminari’s head. “Gross. Nobody wants to know that.”
“I am a growing teenage boy,” Kaminari said, putting a hand dramatically on his chest. “I have needs.”
Katsuki threw another pencil at him.
“Um, that was mine,” Kirishima said.
Uraraka stroked Deku’s hair. “Ignore them. I’m just glad you were there for him.”
Deku poked his head up. “Yeah, he said it helped a lot.” He glanced at Katsuki, then looked away. “He’s been having a heat or rut every couple of days.”
Kaminari gasped in horror. “That often? Fuck man.”
Deku nodded and pushed himself up to a sitting position. “But the doctors seem sure this new series of drugs should stop it. If they do, he can come back.”
“I’m so happy for you!” Uraraka hugged him. “Um, Deku, you might want to take a shower.”
Deku quickly pulled away and blushed. “Sorry, um, I’ll go do that then.” He got up and hurried out of the room.
“I’m glad Todoroki’s doing better,” Kirishima said. He nudged Katsuki’s side. “Bet you’re happy too.”
“Fuck off,” Katsuki said. “Get back to work.”
“You threw my pencil.”
“Then go pick it the fuck up.”
Kirishima sighed and went to retrieve it.
Katsuki hid a smile as he looked down at his notebook. Icyhot will owe him big when he got back.
It had taken a few days but most of the teasing had stopped and his classmates were treating Katsuki just like they normally would. To be honest, it bothered him more than the teasing. That’s it? He took illegal drugs and put his health at risk to hide this big secret and now nobody even fucking cared? Why the hell did he have to go through all that then?
Though just because his classmates accepted him didn’t mean the whole school did. As he was leaving the cafeteria, a 3rd year Alpha ran right into Katsuki and almost knocked him over. “Watch where you’re going, Omega.”
Katsuki froze. “What did you just say?” he growled.
“Oh shit,” Sero whispered.
“Hey, you were the one to walk into Bakugou,” Kaminari said. “You should apologize.” The student turned around. He was a head taller than Bakugou with broad shoulders and a scowl on his face. Kaminari squeaked and hid behind Kirishima.
Kirishima crossed his arms and frowned at the other student. “That was not a cool thing to say man.”
The student sneered. “Little Omega needs to hide behind his Alpha friends? What a waste of space.”
Ashido stepped forward to stand next to Kirishima. “Hey, don’t talk about Blasty like that!”
Katsuki pushed past his friends with a snarl. “Like hell I do! I can handle you myself!”
“Oh really?” The student leaned forward. “What’s a weakling like you going to do?”
Alpha pheromones spread through the air and Katsuki wrinkled his nose in disgust. Really? This guy had to sink that low to try and intimidate him? He waved a hand in front of his face. “Enough with the stink. It’s making me gag.”
The student grabbed Katsuki’s shoulder. “What did you say, you little shit?”
Katsuki grabbed his thumb and pulled until he felt a pop. The student yelled and his grip loosened. Katsuki spun against his arm until his back was facing the student. Then he grabbed the arm, bent his knees, and yanked the asshole over his shoulder.
It was the same throw Deku had used in their first training match together. He grinned as the Alpha hit the floor and had the breath knocked out of him.
“What is going on here?”
A teacher approached them. Her black hair was tied up in a bun and seemed to shimmer in the light. She was wearing all black except for a shimmering equipment belt and boots. “Doi! Are you fighting again?”
The asshole, apparently Doi, pushed himself to his feet. “This Omega started it!”
The teacher glanced at Katsuki. Her eyes were a rainbow of colors. “Bakugou Katsuki, right? You placed first in the past two sports festivals. Though you nearly lost to that classmate of yours at the last one.”
Katsuki growled. He hated being reminded how close Deku came to winning. “I still beat his ass.”
“Your class must be shit if an Omega could beat them,” Doi muttered.
The teacher frowned. “What have I told you about that kind of language? UA does not tolerate gender discrimination.”
Doi scoffed. “Everyone knows Omegas can’t go pro, no matter what UA says. He should drop out now and quit wasting everyone’s time.”
“Like a shithead extra like you could go pro!” Katsuki shouted. “I could wipe the floor with you with one hand!”
Doi took a step forward. “Are you challenging me, Omega scum?”
Katsuki snorted. “Obviously. Did that take down kill what few brain cells you had?”
The teacher stepped between them. “Enough. There is no fighting allowed in the school building. Bakugou, go on to class. Doi, come with me.” She grabbed the Alpha’s arm and dragged him off.
“What a dick,” Kaminari said was Doi was safely out of hearing range.
“Blasty! That was such a cool move!” Ashido cried, jumping on him. “You took him down so easily.”
“Get of me.” He pushed Ashido away. “Guy’s a fucking coward. He even tried to use his pheromones on me.”
“What?” Kirishima shouted. “It’s illegal for Alphas to do that! It’s basically assault.” He slammed his hardened fists together. “That’s it! I’m going to teach him a lesson!”
Kaminari grabbed Kirishima’s arm as he tried to go after Doi. “Whoa, Kiri, calm down. The teacher’s got this. No use starting another fight.”
Kirishima growled and shook Kaminari off. “I hate Alphas like that! It’s because of them that Alphas are stereotyped as aggressive, meathead assholes. I had to put up with a ton of crap in middle school when I presented because of guys like him.”
Kaminari sighed. “I get it, but running after him to beat him up just proves everyone right.”
Kirishima glared. “I know! This sucks!” He sighed and looked at Katsuki. “Hey, are you all right? Did the pheromones effect you at all?”
Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Like that rotten stench would do anything to me.”
“Are you sure?” Kirishima asked. “Maybe we should go to the nurse just in case. Your hormones are unstable; it could have made things worse.”
“I said I’m fucking fine.” He ruffled Kirishima’s hair.
“Dude, not my hair!” Kirishima whined. A few of his spikes had fallen over. “Aw man, now I have to fix it!”
“Better hurry,” Ashido said. “Class will be starting soon.”
“Shit, got it!” Kirishima ran off to the bathroom.
“We should get going,” Sero said.
“Hey Pikachu,” Katsuki asked as they walked to class. “That shit Kirishima said about when he presented. Did that happen to you too?”
Kaminari nodded. “Mostly they gave me crap that I didn’t seem ‘Alpha’ enough.” He spread his arms. “But, look at me. I am clearly a superior Alpha specimen.”
Sero shoved him. “Dream on, man.”
Katsuki frowned. He hadn’t realized his Alpha classmates had faced discrimination like that. He thought it only happened to the Omegas. There had been a couple of kids that presented in his middle school class and, yeah, there had been some teasing about it. He had said some shitty things himself too. He’d never given it much thought because he didn’t care about those extras, besides the jealousy over the fact they presented first. When he had imagined presenting as an Alpha, everyone was always in awe and saying they always knew because he was a perfect Alpha specimen. He’d never imagined teasing or bullying over it.
Kirishima got to class right as the teacher was starting their lecture. “You’re late, Kirishima,” Snipe said.
Kirishima flushed and took his seat. “Sorry.” He shot Katsuki a glare.
Katsuki ignored him.
Afternoon classes went the same as usual until combat training. Aizawa stopped them before they left. “There has been a change of plans for this afternoon. Everyone is to report to gym Gamma to observe a practice match. Afterwards, we’ll have an analysis of the fight. Bakugou, stay behind for a moment.”
Everyone glanced at Katsuki as they filed out of the room. Some snickered, thinking he was in trouble. Others looked curious. A few, like Kirishima and Deku, looked worried. Aizawa waited until everyone left before speaking. “You have been requested to participate in this match against a 3rd year student. I assume you know what this is about?”
Katsuki nodded sharply. Fucker from lunch must have raised a stink until he got his way. Katsuki wasn’t worried; he could take the asshole.
Aizawa sighed. “Very well. Go get ready.”
Katsuki got changed into his hero costume and reported to the gym. The layout had changed. A wall had been created sealing off most of the floor. Seating had been created on either side of the makeshift arena. He could see his classmates sitting on one side. They shouted when Katsuki walked in.
The other seats were occupied by a 3rd year class. Looked like the asshole’s class was going to be watching too.
Aizawa was waiting for him. “Try to keep things clean.”
Katsuki snorted and adjusted his gauntlets. “Tell that to the other fucker.”
Aizawa narrowed his eyes. “He’s a year ahead of you and near the top of his class. Don’t take him lightly.”
Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah.”
Aizawa sighed. He nodded over to Cementoss, who was standing at the edge of the room. Cementoss pressed his hand to the wall and an opening formed. Katsuki walked through and it closed behind him.
Doi was standing at the other side of the arena. “Took your time, weakling. I didn’t think you were going to show.” He flexed his arms and sneered. “Ready to get your ass handed to you?”
Katsuki crouched down in a fighting stance. “Bring it on, asshole.”
“This will be a practice match between Bakugou Katsuki of class 2-A and Doi Tsukuru of class 3-B,” All Might said. He was sitting in the stands on the class 2-A side. “Are both participants ready?” Katsuki and Doi nodded. “Begin!”
Katsuki immediately blasted towards Doi. The other student sneered and bent to place his hands on the ground. The ground between them bulged up and formed a humanoid shape. It swung at Katsuki and he dodged, landing a few feet away. Two other shapes emerged from the ground, blocking Katsuki’s path to the Alpha. “Afraid to fight me yourself?” he taunted.
Doi smirked. “Why bother? My golems can handle you.”
Katsuki growled. The lead golem swung at him again and he jumped out of the way. Its hand hit the ground hard, creating a large hole but also shattering its arm. Katsuki smirked. “Looks like your creations are as weak as you.”
“Don’t underestimate them,” Doi said, crossing his arms and looking completely relaxed.
Katsuki looked at the golem again. Its arm was already regrowing. He tsked. This was going to be annoying.
The golems closed in on Katsuki. They moved quickly but weren’t very agile. Katsuki dodged them easily. He blasted the closest golem. It stumbled back a couple steps, its right arm shattered and torso full of holes. As he watched, the holes closed and the arm grew back. Another golem swung at him and he dodged again.
“Too tough for you, little Omega?” Doi said. “Ready to give up?”
“Hell no!” Katsuki blasted the legs of the golems, buying himself a few seconds to back up. He blasted into the air and took aim just as the first golem got back up to its feet. He aimed his shots at their heads. Two of them blocked the blasts with their arms, shattering them, but he hit the third. Its head shattered and it stopped moving. “Take that, asshole!” He landed and blew up the heads on the remaining two golems.
Suddenly, the first golem moved again. It swung at Katsuki, knocking the breath out of him and throwing him across the floor. He landed on his back and panted for a second. Fuck!
Doi chuckled. “That’s not enough to stop them. They’ll keep moving as long as I’m still standing.”
Katsuki growled as he heaved himself to his feet. “Oh really?” He blasted up into the air. Ignoring the golems, he went straight for Doi.
The student crouched down and touched the ground. Katsuki pulled back and landed a few feet away, getting ready for more golems. Instead, concrete flowed over Doi’s body, providing a layer of protective armor. He sneered at Katsuki. “Your blasts can’t hurt me!”
“Wannna bet?” Katsuki fired at him. Then he took to the air and got behind Doi to fire at his back. Concrete blew off him, exposing his body underneath. But almost immediately, new concrete moved in to fill the gaps. “Dammit! Just die already!” He landed and immediately dodged a golem attack.
Doi smirked. “Face it, Omega. You can’t beat me.”
“I’m not done yet!” He blasted the golem until it was just a pile of rubble. It was already starting to reform but it would take awhile before it could attack again. He turned back to Doi and stalked towards him, concentrating his blasts at his front. Doi stumbled back, bringing up his arms to block some of the firepower. Katsuki dodged another golem, blasting its legs, before focusing on Doi again. If he could focus his blasts on one area and get close enough, he could hit him before a new layer could form.
Doi suddenly lunged forward, dropping some of his protective layer to move faster. Katsuki dodged his first swing and prepared to blast his now less protected body. Suddenly, he was shoved from behind and stumbled right into Doi’s grasp. The student pulled Katsuki’s back against his chest and pinned his arms down, palms facing outwards. Concrete formed around Katsuki’s lower arms, securing them against Doi’s legs. He let out a blast, but the concrete had thickened around his legs and the blast did little damage.
“Know your place, Omega.” Doi used one hand to force Katsuki’s face near his scent gland. He let out his pheromones and Katsuki gagged. His other hand slide down Katsuki’s chest and landed on his thigh. “Omegas are only good for one thing.” He squeezed his hand and slowly moved it upwards.
Katsuki saw red. Screaming, he let out as big a blast as he could. The concrete shattered around his arms, freeing them. He immediately reached back with one hand to Doi’s crotch and let off another large explosion. Doi screamed and let him go to grab his crotch. Katsuki turned and leveled one gauntlet at him. He pulled out the pin. “Die!”
The blast blew Doi back until he slammed against the wall. The golems around him collapsed as the student slumped to the floor.
“Bakugou of Class 2-A is the winner,” All Might announced. Class 2-A erupted in cheers.
The wall opened and Aizawa and the asshole’s teacher walked through. The black clad woman immediately went over to check on her student.
“Congratulations Bakugou,” Aizawa said. “Though I did tell you to keep this a clean fight.”
Katsuki turned on him with a snarl. “Did you expect me to just stand there while that asshole molested me?” He was going to have to shower for a week to get the feel of that fucker’s hands off him.
Aizawa frowned. “Doi will be dealt with but this won’t be the last time it will happen. If a villain raises objections over excessive force, the hero commission will be forced to investigate.” He looked up at the stands for Class 3-B. “There are other ways to deal with people like him.”
Katsuki looked up. Three students were booing and shouting slurs at Katsuki. Probably the fucker’s friends. The rest of the class, however, were glaring at those students. Some seemed happy Doi had been beat and a couple shouted words of encouragement to Katsuki.
“I also may not have noticed a few of your classmates sneaking their phones into class today,” Aizawa said. “It would be a shame if a video of the fight was spread online.”
Katsuki smirked. That fucker’s reputation would take a hit when word spread he had lost a fight to a second year Omega.
“Not everything needs to be handled through fighting.” Aizawa turned and walked away. “Come on. The class is waiting for the discussion of the match. There are some things you can improve on.”
Katsuki glared at his back as he followed. He knew he screwed up at the end; he didn’t need some fucking extras nitpicking his every move.
“Ah, young Bakugou,” All Might said when they stepped out of the arena. “That was a fantastic match. That quirk can be tricky to handle. You did well.”
Katsuki smirked. “Course I did.”
All Might stepped closer. “I’m sorry to say that attitudes like that are bound to come up during your hero career,” he said quietly. “Mostly from villains but some of the other pros as well. Hero society is not as equal as it likes to believe itself to be.”
Katsuki glared up at him. “I can handle it.”
All Might patted his shoulder. “I know you can. It still doesn’t mean that you should have to. I hope one day we can change things so it no longer happens.” All Might sighed. “You have the talent to make it far, Young Bakugou. Remember that.”
All Might had never treated Katsuki any differently after he presented. He shouldn’t have been surprised; All Might may be an Alpha but he never made a big deal out of it. Whenever it was brought up in interviews, he turned the conversation to another topic. He also supported organizations who promoted greater equality between the secondary genders. It was like being an Alpha didn’t even matter to him.
“I’m going to be number one someday,” Katsuki said. “You can count on it.”
All Might smiled. “That’s the spirit! Let’s get back to the rest of the class.”
Everyone cheered when he arrived.
“Way to go Blasty!” Ashido and Sero yelled.
“I knew you could take that asshole!” Kaminari cried.
“That was really impressive to watch,” Deku said. “It seems the other student has a quirk that allows him to make golems out of whatever he touches. The durability of the golem probably depends on the materials he uses. For example, one made out of wood would be flammable but also lighter so maybe it could move faster? On the other hand – ”
Uraraka slapped a hand over Deku’s mouth. “Not now, Deku.”
“Hey man, you okay?” Kirishima asked quietly. He was the only one frowning. He took Katsuki’s arm and pulled him a few feet away from the rest of the class. “I saw what that creep did.”
Katsuki growled at the reminder. “He won’t try that again.”
“Still, I can’t believe somebody like that is going to school here.” Kirishima frowned. “Behavior like that shouldn’t be allowed.”
“Drop it; it’s over,” Katsuki snapped.
Kirishima sighed. “’Kay. Glad you kicked his ass.”
Katsuki smirked. “As if there was ever any doubt.”
“Settle down class,” Aizawa said. Kirishima and Katsuki walked back over and sat with the rest of the class. “We will now begin our discussion of the match. Does anyone know the first thing that Bakugou did wrong?”
Deku immediately raised his hand and Katsuki groaned. This was going to be torture.
Notes:
An Alpha student insults Bakugou with slurs against his gender and instigates a fight with him. During the fight he gropes Bakugou and implies he's only good for sex.
Sorry this chapter was kind of preachy. I promise there will be more romance in the last chapter.
Chapter Text
Katsuki woke up a few days after the fight feeling warm and sore all over. He groaned and covered his face with his arm. “Fuuuuck.” He was getting a horrible feeling of deja vu. He stumbled out of bed to the bathroom and took his temperature. It was slightly elevated. He slammed his hand on the counter. “Shit!”
It had only been about two weeks since his last heat ended. Normally it was once every three months. It looked like his fucked up hormone levels had triggered it way earlier.
He had time until his heat started properly. He was in the pre-heat period. He had about 24 hours until he would need to report to the infirmary. Except crap, he was supposed to go in for a hormone check. Recovery Girl would notice and keep him there. He couldn’t miss a day of class when he would already miss three or more for his heat.
He’d just have to skip it. He put on the clear scent gland patches and got dressed. He’d go for a run to hopefully work out some of the soreness and just tell Kirishima he had stopped by the infirmary before he came back. The spiky haired idiot had been paying way too much attention to his health lately.
He felt better after his run and Kirishima believed his lie. Everything was going fine until he bent down to pick up his bag before class. A wave of dizziness hit him and he had to catch himself on his desk. “Fuck, I am sick of this crap!”
“Bakugou, we’re going to be late!” Kirishima called through the door.
Katsuki grit his teeth and stood up. He could do this. He walked to the door and threw it open. “And whose fault is that? I didn’t fucking spend all morning arguing with Pikachu about what blue tastes like.”
Kirishima flushed. “Sorry.” They got on the elevator and Kirishima pushed the button for the ground floor. “He was totally wrong anyway. I mean, citrusy? That’s totally yellow, not blue.”
Katsuki groaned, feeling a headache coming on that had nothing to do with his heat. Why was he friends with this idiot again?
Kirishima nudged his shoulder and handed him an orange juice. “Here. For the headache.” Katsuki raised an eyebrow. Kirishima shrugged. “You didn’t drink much after your run and you seem kind of grouchy this morning. If I’m wrong, you don’t have to drink it.”
Katsuki sighed and took a sip. Right, that’s why he puts up with him. For all his annoying faults, Kirishima was a good guy who genuinely cared about his friends. “Thanks.”
Kirishima beamed. “No problem man.”
The elevator doors opened and they walked quickly out of the dorm. If they hurried, they should still make it to class on time. Then Katsuki just had to make it through the day without anyone noticing his heat starting. He was sure he could make it.
The cramping began second period. It started with a twinge in his stomach. By third period, it was a sharp twist. Deku had also started giving him funny looks.
Fourth period he started feeling really warm.
By lunch, he had given up. Apparently not only had his heat come early, it was accelerating faster than normal too.
He waited, pretending to write in his notebook, as everyone filed out of the room. Deku hesitated by his desk, clearly knowing what was wrong. He opened his mouth to say something but stopped when Katsuki gave him a vicious glare. With a sigh, Deku turned and left as well.
“Coming Blasty?” Kirishima called from the door.
“In a minute. Meet you there.” He waited until the room was empty and slowly stood up. His legs were shaking slightly. He clenched his hands and slowly walked to the door. He just had to avoid all the extras and get to the infirmary.
Kirishima was waiting for him outside. He should have known the idiot would be there. His friend frowned. “You don’t look so good.”
“Can you quit it with the mother hen routine already?” Katsuki snapped, his patience long gone. “I’m fine. Leave me alone!”
Kirishima sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “If you didn’t keep saying you’re fine when you’re clearly not, I wouldn’t have to worry so much.”
“That’s your problem, not mine.” Katsuki turned and walked off down the hallway. “Fuck off.”
“Seriously, I’m worried about you,” Kirishima said as he followed Katsuki.
Katsuki stopped, clutching his stomach as it cramped hard. He closed his eyes, panting as he waited for the pain to pass. Instead it intensified and he shivered as his whole body went hot.
Kirishima caught him as he started to fall. “Bakugou, what – ” He sniffed and froze. “You’re in heat!”
“No shit,” Katsuki groaned. “I need to get to the infirmary.”
“Okay, okay, I’ll help you!” He looped Katsuki’s arm around his neck and helped him down the hallway.
Katsuki stumbled, his legs feeling weak. Shit, this was happening too fast. He wasn’t going to make it.
Kirishima scooped him up when his legs failed completely. “Fuck, okay, gotta hurry!”
Katsuki moaned and rubbed his face against Kirishima’s chest. He smelled really good.
Kirishima shuddered. “Hold on man, we’re almost there.” Katsuki glanced up. Kirishima’s face was red and he was breathing hard.
They burst into the infirmary. Recovery Girl took one look at them and sighed. “So this is why you didn’t show up this morning.” She hit a button on her desk. A buzzer sounded and the door in the back to the heat wing opened. “Take him back.”
Kirishima rushed him to the first open room and put him on the bed. “You’ll be okay now.”
Katsuki moaned and clawed at his shirt. Too hot. He started to pull it off.
Kirishima swallowed and took a step back. “I have to go. Recovery Girl will call your heat partner; they’ll be here soon.”
Katsuki stopped tugging on his shirt and reached for him. “Don’t go.”
Kirishima frowned and backed towards the door. “I can’t stay. Your heat partner – ”
“You.”
Kirishima froze. “What?”
Katsuki groaned and covered his face with his arm. “I put your name on the form.”
Kirishima didn’t say anything while Katsuki lay there panting. After a minute, he heard Kirishima walk to the door. It closed and locked.
Katsuki felt his eyes tear up. Fuck, he knew this would happen. The hag was right; he should have talked to him about it before hand. He sniffed and rubbed his eyes.
He felt the bed shift as someone sat down. He moved his arm and blinked up in surprise. “You’re still here.”
Kirishima’s face was red and he wouldn’t meet Katsuki’s eyes. “You need me. It wouldn’t be manly to abandon you like this.”
He didn’t sound happy but Katsuki was too relieved he stayed to care much right now. He dived for Kirishima’s lap and rubbed his face against his crotch. Fuck, that smell was good, musky and manly. He wanted it.
He whimpered when Kirishima shoved him back. “No. We need to discuss some ground rules.”
Katsuki pouted. “Fine.”
“First, no fucking,” Kirishima said.
Katsuki whined. “Seriously? Then why the hell did you stay?”
Kirishima ran a hand over his face. “I-I’ll help you, but I won’t fuck you, okay? And we will talk when this is over.” He narrowed his eyes. “If you can’t agree to this, I’m leaving.”
Katsuki groaned and ruffled his hair. “Fuck, fine.” He tore his shirt off and tossed it away. He flopped back on the bed and attacked his belt. He growled when the damn thing wouldn’t open.
Kirishima gently pushed his hands away and undid it for him. “I said I’d help.” Katsuki lifted his hips and let Kirishima tug his pants and boxers off. He gulped when Katsuki’s dripping cock came into view.
Katsuki grabbed Kirishima’s shoulders and pulled him down. “Kiss me.” Their lips met and Katsuki moaned. Kirishima’s mouth was rough and hard against him. He pushed Katsuki into the bed, leaning over him. Katsuki squirmed and tugged on Kirishima’s shirt. He wanted skin.
Kirishima pulled back and tugged his shirt off. Katsuki’s eyes eagerly took in the sight of his friend’s muscled chest. “Just relax,” Kirishima said. “I’ll take care of you.” He leaned down for another kiss.
Katsuki moaned and closed his eyes.
Katsuki stretched, groaning as his back and hips popped. His body was a little sore but his head was finally clear. His heat was over. He sighed and let himself relax again.
“You finally done?”
Katsuki tilted his head. He was laying across Kirishima’s chest, their legs twisted together. “Yeah, I think I’m good.”
“Okay.” Katsuki whined when Kirishima sat up. He was comfortable, dammit! “We should let someone know.” Kirishima glanced down at himself and grimaced. “Um, and take a shower.”
Katsuki huffed and sat up as Kirishima walked to the door. He was covered in a disgusting mix of fluids again and Kirishima didn’t look much better. He spotted something on the floor and reached down to pick it up. “What’s this?”
Kirishima looked away from where he was examining the door. He blushed as he saw what was in Katsuki’s hand. “Oh.”
Katsuki wiggled the condom. “You said you wouldn’t fuck me.” His memories of his heat were fuzzy but he was pretty sure Kirishima had stuck to his word.
Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck and cleared his throat. “Your, uh, pheromones were really strong. I know male Omegas can get pregnant during heats and I didn’t want to take any chances.”
Katsuki smirked and tossed the condom aside. That was kind of sweet. He stood and stretched again, feeling various dried fluids itching his skin. He was a mess. He frowned suddenly. “Wait, if you used condoms, then . . .” He waved vaguely at Kirishima’s abdomen, face heating up.
Kirishima winced. “Um, things were kind of messy.”
Katsuki groaned and rubbed his face. Kirishima standing there naked covered in his dried jizz should not be a turn on. He stalked over to the door and pushed the intercom button. “Old bat, we’re done.”
“Ah, only three days this time,” Recovery Girl said. “Give me a few minutes to get things ready.”
“I wonder who brought us clothes,” Kirishima said.
“I stashed a bag here,” Katsuki said, staring at the door. “I threw in some stuff of yours.” He refused to look when Kirishima glanced at him.
The door clicked and opened. Just like last time, there was a chair with two sets of clothes outside the door. Katsuki grabbed his own clothes and nodded down the hallway. “This way.”
They didn’t speak while they showered and dressed. In the main room of the infirmary, Katsuki sat down and let Recovery Girl check his blood. “Better,” she said. “But not stable yet. Keep coming for daily checks. And don’t skip any this time.” She narrowed her eyes at him.
Katsuki rolled his eyes. “All right, all right, I got it.”
They left the infirmary and headed for the dorms. Classes were still going on so they didn’t pass anybody along the way.
Kirishima’s stomach growled as they entered the dorm. “Mind if I make something to eat before we talk?”
Katsuki grimaced. He had hoped Kirishima forgot about that. “Go ahead.”
He took a seat at the table closest to the kitchen and watched as Kirishima rummaged through the fridge. “Can you even cook?”
Kirishima rolled his eyes as he stood up with his arms full of ingredients. “I might not be a master chef like you but I can make an omelet.”
Katsuki watched him as he cooked. He seemed to know what he was doing. It smelled good too. Omegas didn’t eat during heats, just drank to stay hydrated. It usually took a few hours for their appetites to return afterwards. Even so, he felt his mouth start to water as the smell of eggs, meat and cheese wafted towards him.
Kirishima came over to the table with a plate heaping with eggs. He placed a second plate with one small omelet in front of Katsuki. “Thought you might be hungry,” he said as he sat down.
Katsuki picked up his fork. “Thanks.” He nibbled on the omelet as Kirishima ate. It was pretty good.
Kirishima finished half his food before sighing and putting down his fork. Katsuki slowly did the same. Guess they were doing this now.
Kirishima frowned. “Why didn’t you tell me you wanted to spend your heat with me?”
Katsuki looked at his plate. “It wasn’t important.”
“Oh.” Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck. “Did you only pick me because I was an Alpha?”
Katsuki’s head snapped up. “What?”
“I read that Omegas have an easier time during their heats with an Alpha they know,” Kirishima said. “Kaminari annoys you. Deku you’ve known a long time but he’s involved with Todoroki.” He shrugged. “I’m the only Alpha left.”
“Something like that,” Katsuki said slowly. It was part of the reason he had picked Kirishima.
“Right of course.” Kirishima sighed and picked up his fork. He poked at his omelet. “It makes sense. It’s not like you’re interested in me that way.”
What the hell? Did Kirishima really think that? “It wasn’t the only reason,” he said, causing Kirishima to look up. “I wanted you there. Not anybody else.”
Kirishima looked confused. “But you never said anything to me about it.”
Was this guy serious? Katsuki crossed his arms. “Why would I? I didn’t think you would actually agree to it.”
Kirishima’s fork clattered onto the plate. “Of course I would! I care about you.”
Katsuki clenched his jaw. “This isn’t like grabbing me dinner or playing video games when I’m stressed.” He blushed. “Heats are intimate. You’re not attracted to me that way.”
“But I am!” Kirishima insisted, his face red. “I wouldn’t have stayed if I wasn’t.”
Katsuki held up a hand. “Tetsutetsu. That guy from Shinsou’s old class. Whatever the fuck that thing was with Tokoyami.” He counted them off on his fingers.
Kirishima covered his face. “You knew about those?”
“Of course I did!” Katsuki snapped. “I’m not an idiot. Clearly you aren’t interested in me if your fucking those losers.”
“I was trying to get over you,” Kirishima moaned.
Katsuki froze. He had to have heard that wrong. “What the fuck?”
Kirishima peeked over his fingers. “You never showed any interest when I flirted with you, so I tried to move on.”
Katsuki blinked. “When the hell were you flirting?”
Kirishima sighed and lowered his hands. “I’m always saying how great you are. I always pick up your favorite magazine and snacks at the convenience store. I bought you dinner for a week once.”
Katsuki scoffed. “You were always doing that stuff ever since we met. That isn’t flirting.”
“I’ve liked you since we met.” Kirishima frowned. “I never did that much for anybody else. Didn’t you notice?”
“I. . .” Maybe Kirishima had paid more attention to him than the other extras. He did hang around Katsuki more than them and was constantly doing things for him. “But that was because we’re friends, right?”
Kirishima groaned and dropped his head onto the table. “You didn’t even notice.”
“I’m sorry, okay.” He rubbed a hand over his face. Fuck, Katsuki was such an idiot. “You’re basically my first friend. I thought it was how friends acted.”
Kirishima tucked his arms under his chin and looked up at him. “I thought Midoriya was your friend.”
“Tch.” Katsuki sneered. “That wimp just followed me around like a kicked puppy. Even when he tried to call me on my crap and I beat the shit out of him, he’d come crawling back.”
Kirishima frowned. “You said you used to bully him but I didn’t realize it was that bad.”
Katsuki looked away. “I was a shithead then. I thought I was better than him.”
Kirishima hummed. “You’re not like that with him now.”
“Damn nerd grew a backbone once we got here. We worked shit out.” Katsuki shook his head. “The point is you never put up with my crap from the start. You treated me like an equal.”
“Because we are equals.” Kirishima sat up. “So, you didn’t reject me?”
“Isn’t that obvious by now?” Katsuki groaned and rubbed his temples. “Fuck, this is giving me a headache.”
“You probably need more rest.” Kirishima went to stand up but Katsuki grabbed his arm.
“Finish eating first,” Katsuki said.
“But you’re tired – ”
Katsuki yanked him back down. “Eat!”
Kirishima sighed but picked up his fork. Katsuki crossed his arms on the table and rested his head on them, thinking as he watched Kirishima eat. So the idiot had a crush on him since the beginning of first year. Fuck, he really should have noticed that. All this drama with his heat wouldn’t have come up if he had known.
“Finished.” Kirishima grabbed their plates and took them to the sink. He quickly cleaned them and came back to Katsuki. “Now can I take you upstairs?”
“Fine.” He let Kirishima pull him to his feet and followed him to the elevator. They didn’t say anything as they rode up to the 4th floor.
Kirishima walked him to his door. “Um, I should probably go.”
Katsuki took his hand and pulled him inside. “You’re staying.” He closed the door and pushed Kirishima towards the bed. “Lay down.”
Kirishima sat down carefully on the edge. “Why am I here?”
Katsuki stripped off his shirt. “I want to sleep with you.”
Kirishima’s eyes widened and his face went red. “Um, shouldn’t we talk some more first?”
“I’m done talking.” He took off his pants.
Kirishima stood up. “I should go.”
“For fuck’s sake.” He shoved Kirishima back down on the bed. “I’m fucking tired and I want to sleep next to you, all right?”
“Oh.” Kirishima rubbed the back of his head and grinned sheepishly. “You actually meant sleep.”
“Yeah, dipshit.” He grabbed a soft tank top and slipped it on. “Get comfortable.”
Kirishima took off his shirt and pants, leaving him in his boxers. He laid down and Katsuki climbed in the bed next to him. He draped himself over Kirishima and sighed. “Relax,” he said, poking his chest.
“Sorry, this is just a little fast,” Kirishima said, face red as he looked towards the opposite wall. “We just admitted we have feelings for each other and now we’re half naked in bed.”
Katsuki pushed himself up to look Kirishima in the eye. “You just spent three days fucking my ass with a dildo and this bothers you?”
Kirishima whined and covered his face with his arm. “Don’t remind me right now!”
Katsuki smirked and pulled his arm away. “Do you like me?”
Kirishima blinked up at him. “Yes.”
Katsuki’s cheeks grew warm. “I like you too.” He laid back down and nuzzled against Kirishima’s chest. “Now let me fucking sleep.”
Kirishima carefully wrapped an arm around Katsuki’s shoulders. He hummed and pressed tighter against Kirishima.
They probably had more shit to figure out, but for right now this was enough.
Katsuki groaned as his alarm went off and clutched Kirishima harder. “Make it stop.”
Kirishima grabbed his phone and turned off the alarm. “Guess we should get up.” He glanced behind him where Katsuki was curled against his back. “Come on, man, rise and shine!”
“Die,” Katsuki said, pulling the blanket over his head. He did not want to face those losers downstairs. Kirishima had left last night to get them dinner and returned with his face bright red. He refused to tell him what their classmates had said but Katsuki could imagine. He did not want to deal with it.
Kirishima pushed the blanket off and sat up. Katsuki hid his head under the pillow.
Kirishima peeked under at him. “Scared to face everyone?”
Katsuki hit him in the face with the pillow. “Fuck you.”
“Maybe someday.”
Katsuki’s face turned red. Kirishima covered his face and groaned. “I can’t believe I said that! Sorry, it just slipped out.”
Katsuki sat up and got out of bed. “I wouldn’t mind.” Kirishima watched him wide eyed as he walked to the bathroom.
Katsuki refused to look at himself in the bathroom mirror. Fuck, had he really just said that? No, stop, he couldn’t think of that right now. He had to get ready.
Kirishima was gone when he came out of the bathroom. Probably went to get dressed in his own room. Katsuki got himself dressed and went to wait in the hallway for him.
After a few minutes, Kirishima came out. “Ready?” He held out his hand towards Katsuki.
Katsuki took it and they walked to the elevator. It was blessedly empty and he enjoyed the few moments of peace before it dinged for the first floor. He tensed.
“They’re just our friends,” Kirishima said.
“You mean that noisy bunch of gossipy fuckers?” Katsuki growled.
Kirishima kissed his cheek. “Relax.”
Katsuki took a deep breath and stepped off the elevator.
Ashido was the first to spot them. “Blasty! Kiri! Look! Look! Todoroki is back!”
The dual-haired bastard was indeed back, standing next to Deku and surrounded by their classmates. He looked thinner and a little pale but otherwise healthy. Guess the new drug cocktail had worked.
“Come on, man, I just need to know the number of times you went into heat and rut.” Kaminari was saying, holding a pen to an open notebook. “How many times of each or how many total; I’m good with either.”
Sero grabbed the notebook and pushed him back. “You seriously have a problem man.”
“Those questions are inappropriate Kaminari,” Iida said. “I must ask you to cease at once.”
“But Bakugou let us ask him questions!” Kaminari protested.
“I’m not Bakugou.” Todoroki glanced over at Katsuki and their eyes met.
The class quieted as Katsuki and Kirishima walked forward. They stopped in front of Todoroki and Deku.
Todoroki crossed his arms. “So you’re an Omega.”
Katsuki shoved his hands in his pockets. “So are you. Half, anyway.”
“Something like that.” Todoroki scratched his cheek. “Guess I owe you for that day and getting the old man to let Izuku visit.”
Katsuki huffed. “Damn right you do.”
Todoroki reached into his pocket and pulled out an envelope. “Here.”
Katsuki looked inside. “A year of free curry?”
Kirishima peeked over his shoulder. “Oh, that’s your favorite place! The one that makes that really spicy curry you like.”
Katsuki slipped the envelope into his pocket, careful not to crush it. “It’s a start.”
“Fuck man, how did you afford something like that?” Kaminari asked.
Todoroki shrugged. “Endeavor’s credit card.”
Kaminari whistled.
“Why don’t we let Todoroki and Deku eat?” Uraraka said. “We’ve been pestering them with questions for awhile.”
“Thanks Uraraka,” Deku said as the class grumbled but reluctantly agreed. People started wandering into the kitchen to get food.
Katsuki grabbed his cereal and wondered if he had managed to dodge the questions.
“So did Kirishima really spend his heat with you?” Hagakure asked as Katsuki took his first bite.
Kirishima blushed and looked at Katsuki.
He made them wait until he chewed and swallowed. “Where the fuck else do you think he was the last few days?”
“So are you dating?” Sero asked.
Kirishima smiled. “Yes!”
“When exactly did you start dating?” Kaminari asked.
“Um.” Kirishima glanced at Katsuki.
Katsuki sighed. “Yesterday.”
Kaminari groaned and slumped over the table. Sero patted his back. “You need to lay off the bets.”
“Wait, so you weren’t dating before your heat started?” Ashido asked.
“I thought you’ve been dating in secret since first year,” Tokoyami mused. “You seemed very close.”
Kirishima laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of his head. “It took us awhile to figure things out.”
“Wait, that means Kirishima agreed to spend your heat with you when you guys weren’t even dating?” Hagakure asked.
Everybody looked at the two of them.
“None of your fucking business.” Katsuki stood up. “I have to go.”
Deku nudged Todoroki as Katsuki walked to the kitchen. “Hey Shouto, don’t you have to see Recovery Girl this morning?”
“Right.” The candy cane looked over at Katsuki. “Want to walk together?”
“Fuck no.”
When Katsuki came back downstairs with his bag, Todoroki was waiting for him. He sighed and let the bastard follow him.
They walked in silence for a few minutes. Katsuki thought he would get to the infirmary in peace, then Todoroki opened his fucking mouth. “Izuku filled me in on what I missed. I know about the drugs.”
“I made a fucking mistake, so drop it,” Katsuki growled. He was not getting a lecture from Todoroki of all people.
“I get it.” Katsuki glanced at him. “I would have taken them too when I presented if I had the option.”
Katsuki snorted. “Which time?”
“The first time.” Todoroki looked down at his left hand. “I’ve never liked my Alpha side. I’m glad I also presented as an Omega.”
“Even with all the shit that happened?” Katsuki asked.
Todoroki nodded. “It’s another piece of my mother. I feel closer to her now.”
Katsuki’s mom was an Omega too but he didn’t exactly feel any sort of bond over knowing that. Then again, from what he had heard Todoroki’s mom wasn’t a total bitch.
“How are you handling being an Omega?” Todoroki asked. “Are you going to quit being a hero?”
“Why the fuck would I?” Katsuki snapped. “I’m still going to be the number one hero.”
“There’s never been an Omega in the top ten,” Todoroki reminded him.
“Then I’ll be the first.” Katsuki grinned. “I’ll prove that I’m better than all those hot-headed Alpha assholes.”
“I won’t let you get there so easy.”
“Then I’ll beat your Alpha ass too.”
Todoroki tilted his head. “My ass is only half Alpha.”
Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Fuck off.”
“Izuku will beat both of us anyway,” Todoroki said. When Katsuki glanced over, he was smiling.
Katsuki smirked. “Let the nerd try.”
Recovery Girl stood up as they entered the infirmary. “Good. You boys are both here.” She gave Katsuki a pointed look and he looked away. “Okay, Bakugou, let’s start with you.”
A quick blood draw later, Recovery Girl nodded over the results. “Good. Your hormones are finally leveling off. We’ll keep testing to make sure they’re stable, then we can discuss getting you on suppressants. I know you’re eager to return to your internship.”
“Damn right I am.” Katsuki grinned. Finally some good news.
She tested Todoroki next. “Hmm, not where I’d like them to be but better according to your doctors’ notes. Please let me know right away if you notice any changes in your body or behavior.” She glanced at Katsuki.
He sighed. He fucking got it, all right?
They left and headed to class. “So how does it work with the drugs? Do you go into heats or ruts? Some kind of mix?”
Todoroki shrugged. “The doctors aren’t sure.”
“That fucking sucks.”
Todoroki nodded.
Deku and Kirishima ran up to them when they entered the classroom. “How are you Shouto?” Deku asked. “Are the drugs working?”
Todoroki shrugged. “Pretty much.”
Deku grinned. “Come on, I have notes for you.” He tugged Todoroki to his desk.
“Well?” Kirishima asked.
Katsuki grinned. “I should be able to start suppressants soon.”
“Congrats man!” Kirishima hugged him. “I know this has been bothering you.”
Katsuki felt his cheeks warm. “Fuck off. I’m fine.”
Kirishima pulled back and grinned. “I’m just really happy for you.”
Katsuki took his hand and squeezed. “You helped,” he admitted quietly.
Kirishima tackled him with another hug. His closest classmates snickered. “Get the fuck off me!”
“Settle down class,” Aizawa said as he entered. Everyone rushed to their seats. He stopped at Todoroki’s desk and put down a stack of papers. “The work you missed. Have it to me by the end of next week.”
Todoroki frowned down at the stack. It was double the size of the stack Katsuki had received.
Katsuki frowned. Wait, hadn’t Todoroki been out for more than three weeks?
Aizawa walked to the lectern. “There are a couple of announcements for today.”
Katsuki pulled out his notebook and got ready for class. He had missed some days because of his heat and couldn’t afford to slack off.
Something poked his back. He glanced behind him.
“Here.” Deku held out a notebook. “Notes from the days you missed.”
Katsuki blinked. “Thanks.” He turned back around and flipped through the notebook. Deku’s messy scrawl filled most of the pages, but he saw much neater hand writing from other classmates too. He had seen his class do this before when an Alpha went into rut. Guess they decided to do it for him too.
It did not put a warm feeling in his chest. It was just heartburn.
He put the notebook aside to study later. His classmates would regret helping him when he beat their asses and proved he was the best. He would become number one even if he was an Omega.
No, he thought, remembering what Midnight had said a couple of weeks ago. It wasn’t just about him anymore. He had seen first hand how Omegas were treated. He got lucky his classmates and school were accepting but others like him weren’t so lucky. His goal was still to be number one but he couldn’t ignore everything he had learned this last month. Why the fuck wouldn’t he start a social revolution among the pro Heroes, upturning years of prejudice and showing the public Omegas were just as strong and capable as anyone else?
Katsuki grinned. Sounded like fun.
Notes:
I hoped you all like the story. Please let me know what you thought.
I didn't mean this to go so heavy into gender rights but I like how it turned out. I'm working on another ABO fic that will be more relationship heavy, in a separate universe than this one. If you like this story, please check it out when I post it. I hope to start posting in the next couple of months.
