Sea Shell

Summary:

A snapshot of the littlies' time at the beach.

Just a short fic based on the little information we got about WarioWare: Move It!

Work Text:

At the beach, Lulu had collected quite a few seashells and was showing them off. There were spikey ones, smooth ones, and bumpy ones! Ana looks on in awe, “Wow…you found so many pretty shells!”
Lulu grinned, “I know, aren’t they so cool?”
“Yeah!”
The two look at the shells with joy. But then Lulu asks, “Hey, you want one, Ana?”
“For real life?” Ana asks.
“Yup, here, you can have this one!”
Lulu presents an orange conch shell with white stripes. This excites Ana.
“Ooh, thank you Lulu! I’m gonna show Kat!”
“Okay!”
When Ana heads off to find her twin sister, the shell was swiped out of her hands by Leo!
“Yoink!” The lion boy smirks, upsetting Ana.
“Hey!”
Ana pounced towards him, but he dodges. She tried again, but he slipped out.
Lulu noticed and called the lad out, “Give that back!”
“Okay,” Leo agreed.
And then he pulled back, “Only if you can catch it!”
He flings the shell over Ana’s head. It flies over the shore and made a small splash in the ocean.
“Try to get that now!” the kid grinned.
Ana tried to wade into the sea. The waves were too overwhelming to get past so Lulu had to pull her out. The small ninja was crushed. She started to cry. That drawn the attention of Kat.
“Hey! Leo what did you do??”
“Later babies!” the boy disappears in a puff of smoke.
“Ough!” Kat grumbled, “That guy! What did he do?”
The littlest one was in shambles, so Lulu had to step in, “He flung her shell into the ocean!”
Kat clenched her fist, “I’ll get him for this! But I can’t track him down…!”
“How ‘bout we get that shell back for now?” Lulu suggested, while rubbing Ana on the back.
Kat looks to her sister, then to the bow wearing girl, “Sounds like a plan. But we’ll have to approach this carefully. It’ll be alright Ana.”
Ana tearfully nods, but utters a tiny “sorry”.
With bravado, swim wings, and snorkeling gear, Kat approaches the shore.
“Hey uh, you sure you wanna get it?” Lulu asks, “I can get it ‘cause I can sw-”
“No!” Kat protested, “I got this covered! I’m the one to save my sis!”
She wades into the waters…She gets past the first waves…
…and doesn’t make it far. The other waves caught her.
Lulu and Ana panicked, and called out for help. Mona heard the call, and ran over. She retrieved the older littlie. Setting her down but not getting up herself to see the kids eye to eye, Mona asked,
“Are you okay Kat?”
Ana hugged her sister tight. Kat huffed, “Yeah I’m fine. Wish I knew how to swim.”
Lulu notes, “I was gonna say-”
“Zip it.”
Mona looks to the three, “Hey now, it seems you three are trying to get something…What is it, exactly?”
“I-It’s my shell!” Ana uttered, “It’s orange and stripey and coney! But the hole’s on the side!”
“Yeah, Leo threw it into the ocean, such a jerk.” Lulu added, pointing to the shell’s direction.
Mona nods, “Oh, I see, I’ll get it back for you then!”
She gets up and equips the diving equipment from the company’s spot, “I’ll be back!”
“Thanks Mona!”
“Good luck out there!” Kat called out.
Off to the ocean! The teenager dove into the waters and started to look around. There were a few shells in the sea, but they were broken or not orange. Sea life surrounded her, with fish swimming about and shrimp scampering.
Soon she spotted the orange stripes. And they belonged to a shell! A horn-shaped one!
It’s retrieved, and Mona rose from the sea, “I got it!”
The kids cheer, and she heads to shore. Mona returns the striped shell to Ana, who holds the shell close to herself.
“Thank you Mona-dono!” She grins.
Kat bows to the teen, “Yes, thank you for helping us, Mona-dono!”
Lulu yelled, “You’re so cool!”
“It’s no problem!” Mona reassured the three, “Now how about we get some ice cream?”
That got the girls to cheer, and so they went to the boardwalk for a treat!
