- What's your favorite beverage - alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic?
If I had to choose one beverage each, I'd say iced tea for non-alc, gin and tonic with Japanese gin for alcoholic. But I can't live and function without coffee at all, so... (*/ω＼*)
- What's your favorite flavor? (spicy, sweet, sour, etc.)
Sweet & sour. I like fruit salad with my breakfast pancakes.
- What's your favorite food?
My favorite food is my grandmother's homemade taco rice. I miss it, I never get it done as good as she makes it.
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks - which do you look forward to the most?
Good question! I'd say I live for the snacks Hotaru prepares for me during work so I don't starve because I tend to forget to eat when I'm concentrated. But don't tell him, I don't want him to neglect his own work over feeding me with fruit animals. (╹ڡ╹ )
- Do you have a food or flavor you absolutely hate?
Fish! I despise the taste and smell of dead fish. It didn't help that I was raised by the sea and fish was a regular ingredient in my mother's meals. Fish are friends, not food!
- Can you tolerate spicy food?
Yes, quite well. I don't have a problem with a dash of more spice, if it refines the taste instead of just killing it.
- What is your favorite animal?
Dragonflies. They're just beautiful and I love watching them, when I have the chance.
- What do you wear to bed?
Nothing at all in 99% of the nights, as you very well know, Beta-chan! Shorts and one of Kazuki's t-shirts for the remaining 1%, that would be when he's not around and I have to sleep alone
- What position do you like to sleep in?
Cuddled up against Kazuki, he's a very warm big spoon. Sometimes on top of him, he's also a good pillow-mattress-whatever-partner to sleep on. (_ _)。゜zｚＺ
- Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night owl for sure. I don't function before 9 a.m. and my second coffee, but I can work until late at night.
- Are you a heavy sleeper or do you wake up easily?
Once I'm asleep, I sleep soundly. Kazuki usually gets up at 6 and let's me sleep through. Not sure how he manages to get out of bed without waking me up
- It's a rainy day, what will you do cooped up inside all day?
I'm usually working when it's raining. I work from home as a freelance artist and mangaka, 5-6 days a week. I can watch the rain from the window in front of my desk though (◔◡◔)
- Do you have a favorite scent or smell?
My partner's scent (*/ω＼*) Kazuki always smells like cedarwood and yasmine tea, with a hint of musk or patchouli depending on which of his expensive luxury perfumes he uses that day, very masculine. It makes me feel safe
- What do you smell like? Do you wear perfume or cologne?
My partner says I smell like honey and spices, probably from the ukoncha I drink daily, it's made from honey and turmeric. For special occasions I use Mamluk by XERJOFF or something else with oud, just love the scent of it (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
- Baths or showers?
Baths. Showers are necessary, baths are for much needed relaxing. (‾◡◝)
- How good are you at cooking?
Relatively good, I think. I had to care for myself since I was 16, so I eventually had to learn how to cook more than just junk food. I'm very proud of my soufflé pancakes (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
- What's your favorite time of year and why?
Fall. Sweater & Boots weather, Pumpkin Spice Latte and all the colors the leaves are showing. Can someone organize that we can have PSL all year round?
- Do you have a favorite holiday?
I wouldn't say I have a specific favorite holiday, as a child I loved Children's Day and Marine Day. Japanese Constitution Memorial Day may be on the list, but it's also Kazuki's birthday so I'm biased here.
- Do you prefer buying or receiving gifts?
I like choosing special gifts for those close to me. Receiving? Uhm... as Nao said: "You rather save adamantly than ask someone to buy you something and you resist gifts with hand and feet. Apparently you have to be tied up and coerced if anyone wants to do you any good."
- How tall are you, and how do you feel about your height?
176 cm or 5'9" I'm a bit over the Japanese height average and like to wear boots with thick soles, so I tend to stand out in certain situations but I'm okay with it. Dating is more complicated when your type are men that are bigger than you
- Can you play any instruments?
Nope, not at all. I can read notes a bit, whatever's left from music lessons in school.
- Do you have a nice singing voice?
I'd say, I have a kinda good singing voice. At least that's what my friends say when we're out for karaoke or did our infamous sing-alongs while partying. I like humming to the music I listen to while working (ˇ▽ˇ)ノ♪♬♫
- Do you talk to yourself?
Sometimes, during work or other occasions, mostly when I'm alone. Who doesn't do that?
- Do you enjoy music? What kind?
Absolutely, music helps me to concentrate or to get in the mood for a night's out. It's usually international pop and dance as well as anime music. Nao and I have a shared playlist with our favorites we've been filling over the years.
- Do you make friends easily?
I can get along with people very good on various occasions, being polite and all. Making friends is different, I only let few people get close to me, time is not the issue here but we have to vibe, but then I'd do anything for them, my friends are my family.
- Surprise birthday party! How do you react?
Having people who love you so much they go an extra mile to organize a surprise party for you means a lot and shows how important you are for them. BUT I struggle with so much attention just for myself, I'd be overwhelmed. I'd bawl my eyes out. For real.
- What is your favorite flower, if you have one?
The chrysanthemums on Kazuki's skin (*/ω＼*) Apart from that, I don't have a particular favorite flower, I like them all if they have a nice scent or color, but I don't like cut flowers or bouquets. Give me living plants instead of dead ones.
- How do you feel about wearing jewelry?
I like using jewelry to enhance my outfits and my features, but I usually don't like to wear rings when working since they can be annoying while drawing. I have a big assortment of various jewelry, cheap & not so cheap, in my closet for every occasion. (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
- If you wear jewelry, what's your favorite piece?
I have 3 favorite pieces I always wear: The charm bracelet Nao gifted me for my 20th birthday. Kazuki claimed me as his sub with a lockable bangle, it's engraved with a phoenix and our names; I got us matching rings, engraved with 主人 & 奴隷
- Fashion forward or fashion disaster?
I'm a fashion gremlin during work, sweatpants/shorts + oversized shirt. Outside I like slim fit pants with matching top depending on the weather or occasion. Nao owns a clothing store, I have a lot of my stuff from him. Formal wear is difficult, I don't like suits on me.
- What kind of underwear do you wear?
Underwear? Uhm... well... I don't know if I own more than 5 underpants that cover my butt. (*/ω＼*)
- Do you wear makeup? What kind?
I wear makeup for dates or partying. Some concealer, maybe highlighter if extra fancy, dark eyeshadows & eyeliner, some color or gloss on my lips
- Do you paint your nails?
Sometimes. Mostly dark colors, I recently experimented with some gold accents as it fits with my skin tone and eye color.
- Are you quick to get haircuts or do you often let it grow out?
I let my hair grow out since I was a teenager, some cuts for maintenance, but never shorter than shoulder length since I graduated. Right now it reaches below my chest, a length I'm pretty comfortable with.
- Do you know how to whistle?
I know how to whistle. Back in my hometown my friends and I communicated with that over distance, to announce ourselves when visiting or meeting in our secret hideout in that small forest by the sea.
- Or how to braid hair?
Yes, I know how to braid, be it my own or other's hair.
- Are you scared of anything in nature - bugs, snakes, lightning, being on the water, etc?
I'm not afraid of critters, animals or weather but I have social anxiety and I'm often overwhelmed by too many people, especially with no way to retreat. Not sure if that counts. Clubbing works somehow, I just dance the anxiety away (～￣▽￣)～
- Have you ever thought they were about to die?
When I was still in grade school I overestimated myself and tried to surf a big wave, which knocked me off my board. Gramps fished me out shortly after. My mother scolded me so hard for that stunt that I hyperventilated, fainted and was in hospital for two days
- How do you react to getting sick?
I'm self-employed, getting sick is a nightmare. Luckily I rarely get sick and if I do, I fight it with lots of turmeric tea, fruits and a full day of sleep.
- Are you afraid of blood?
I have no issues with seeing blood.
- How do you earn money?
I'm a mangaka and illustrator, currently with a contract at a publishing house for releasing my isekai shoujo manga. The illustrator job pays my rent, I cut it down to only one client which is Kazuki's company for an ongoing campaign for the sushi restaurants he owns.
- Are you satisfied with their occupation or long to do something else?
It's my dream job! I wanted to become a full-fledged artist that can pay his rent and other things with his art since I was a kid. It's strenuous, stressful, I constantly think about work but it's my passion and I couldn't live without it. (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
- How creative are you?
Very creative (✿◕‿◕✿)
- Do you know how to draw? How skilled are you?
Well, it's part of me, my job and my hobbies obviously. I can't not draw, I need to doodle at least something once a day, if I have one of my rare days off or Kazuki drags me to some vacation.
- What do you carry around with you during the day (i.e. in your pockets, a bag, a purse...)
My iPhone, always. For outside: power bank (hopefully charged), card case, some cash, case for glasses + cleaning tissue, pens, notebook for scribbles, iPad for a longer day out, paper tissues, surgical masks, hand sanitizer, hand cream, pain killers, mints, lube, condoms.
- Do you have a sweet tooth?
I like sweet food more than savory food. I exercise enough to even out the high sugar in my food, so it's manageable (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
- Haute cuisine or cheap eats?
I like homemade food and sometimes junk food. I'm overwhelmed with haute cuisine, Kazuki loves it, so we have to compromise here.
- Do you know how to swim?
I learned swimming when I was little and like to do it when I find the time.
- Do you have any scars? How did you get them?
Not yet.
- What kind of handwriting do you have? Neat, messy, cursive, print?
My parents put a lot of value on education and presentation, so my handwriting is very neat even if I take notes. In English, Japanese and Chinese.
