Choso stood before Kenjaku with his fists clenched.. His expression remains calm, and unchanging, but it's clear how he felt in this moment.
"You made me attack Yuji without telling me that he's my little brother-.. You led Kechizu and Eso to their deaths.. You took everything from me..! Why?"
Choso asks, as his fist shakes at his side, even as he speaks so calmly, he feels nothing but hatred and anger are ever present in his voice, and his dark purple eyes as he glares on at Kenjaku.
Kenjaku tilts his head with a smile.
"You want to know why?, Choso? Are you so sure you would like what you would hear?"
He asks, arms remaining still on either side of him as he stands idly by, waiting for Choso to do something.
"What are you going to do, if I don't tell you? Are you going to try and shoot me with your Cursed Blood manipulation? Because it won't work, you know.."
Kenjaku hums with a slightly taunting smile while his head remained tilted and his eyes closed.
Choso's eyes narrowed even further on Kenjaku as he spoke in a low but fierce tone of voice.. His hands shaking as he clenched his fists tightly.
".... I know my cursed technique won't work on you so there's only one thing left for me to do, Kenjaku..!"
Choso yelled as his lips curled back, and he began slowly walking forward.. His fists clenched by his side, as his blood began to flow more quickly.
"Oho? And what might that be Choso? It's cute, that you think you can stand a chance against me. I made you into who you are today, I put you on this world and I'll take you out of it.. If you want to be a child and use violence instead of your words."
Kenjaku says, crossing his arms and opening his eyes. He smirks, as Choso steps forward. He too, starts taking steps, closing more distance between him and Choso.
"If you attack me, you know you won't be able to finish what you've started, Choso."
Kenjaku warns him with a threatening tone, his tabi sandles clack against the pavement they walk on.
Choso's eyes widened slightly, as Kenjaku's words echoed in his head, yet for some reason he still felt compelled to take a step forward.
"Even if I won't be able to get away alive.. I don't care. I'll make you regret taking my family from me, even if I die in the process.."
Choso says, before suddenly leaping forward and aiming to kick Kenjaku, aiming for the ribs in an attempt to knock him off-balance!
Kenjaku's eyes widen and he grins as Choso charges at him.
"How unwise of you, Choso."
Kenjaku grabbed Choso by the ankle, and easily flung him into a nearby wall, sending him crashing through it.
"Now... Let's try this again. Ask me nicely, and I'll tell you why I've done everything I've done. That sound like a good deal?"
He hums, approaching the broken through wall with a smile, and his hands behind his back.
"I can do this all day..."
Choso was thrown hard into the wall, causing a loud crash and an audible groan from Choso, as cracks appeared up and down the wall where he hit it..
Kenjaku's taunt only made Choso's resolve greater, but he was forced to give in to his demands, as it was clear he would lose if he didn't give in to Kenjaku's demands.
".. Why.. Are you doing all this?.."
Kenjaku stops grinning, only retaining a menacing smirk as he approches Choso, picking him up by the throat and lifting him off the ground with just one hand.
"Because, my dear son, you want answers, don't you?"
Kenjaku asks with a headtilt as he looks up to Choso, a playful yet sadistic twinkle in his brown eyes while he grips Choso's throat.
Choso gasps for air as Kenjaku grabs his throat and lifts him into the air.. As he looks at Kenjaku's eyes.. He only feels further terrified, as Kenjaku called him his son, and he can only think about how much he's lost.
"Just... get it over with.. I'm ready to hear what your reasons are!"
He says, as his eyes are locked onto Kenjaku's, with a furious intensity.
Kenjaku's smile turns into what is considered sadistic excitement. He pulls Choso closer to himself, so he's face to face with Choso.
"Ooh.. You've got a hellfire behind those eyes, don't you? Hmhm~.. I'll show you just one thing from my past, and depending on how bad you really want to see how fucked my life was, we might continue or stop.. At my leisure."
As Kenjaku stared up into Choso's eyes, a black veil ecompasses them both.. And Choso finds himself alone, after being swallowed whole by the darkness.
Choso's body began shaking violently as he was surrounded by darkness, and he could do nothing about it, as Kenjaku's hand around his throat faded.. Kenjaku's words filled Choso with anxiety, and he started trying to think of what he's about to see.
He stood in the darkness, not knowing what he'd see or hear. But he knew if he waited long enough, Kenjaku would give him that explanation he was searching for, even as more doubt filled his head, and his anxiety grew.
"Welcome, to my memories. Before we begin, dear Choso, Im going to let you know one, important thing."
Kenjaku's voice echos from the abyss, all around Choso. He is everywhere, and nowhere.
"You will be an apparition in anything you see. You will not be able to touch, or interact, no matter how hard you try.. Because what is done, is done. Not even I could undo it.. I hope you enjoy the show."
He hums from the darkness..
Choso simply stood frozen in place as he heard Kenjaku's voice come from every direction. He couldn't move or speak, even as his mind was filled with questions and doubts about what he would see, and hear.. and what Kenjaku's memories would be like..
Choso listened to Kenjaku's words, and nodded silently. All he could do at this moment was stand still as he awaited for Kenjaku to continue.
A clap comes from the darkness.
"Great! Let's begin, then.. Starting with how you came to be."
Suddenly, a scene rushes fourth around Choso. It steadies, and becomes night. Around him, is what looks like.. Ancient Japan. Kenjaku is over a thousand years old. As Choso tries to gauge his surroundings, two people appear, walking down the path Choso stands on now.
One man was incredibly tall, with sharp blue eyes and long white hair that overpowered the black that remained in it. He wore what look like clan clothes, what clan? Its a sigil Choso doesn't recognise..
Beside him, was a smaller man. He looked like a commoner, compared to the tall man. His hair was long and brunet, long bangs frame his face, bandages were wrapped around his throat. His hair cascaded down his back in a wrapped ponytail. He looked happy.. Holding the taller man's arm. And as well.. He looked pregnant.
Choso was stunned upon first taking in all the information from the scene that Kenjaku had shown him. He looked at the man, and his mind went blank. He was pregnant, holding onto another man? Choso was stunned, and couldn't say anything, as his thoughts raced through his head.
"Kenja- father.."
He says, hesitating slightly while glancing at the two.
He wanted so many answers.. But to see Kenjaku's memories? That was another story in itself, as he tried to process what might be happening.
"Yeah, that's me.. I look so happy, don't I? It's about to go horrible."
Current Kenjaku spoke in Choso's mind, as the memory continued to play.. Past Kenjaku leans on what one could presume was his lover, long, long ago. The tall man wraps an arm around Kenjaku as they continue to walk.. Right through Choso.
But suddenly, the tall man with white hair stops walking. Past Kenjaku looks up at him, concerned.
"Is something.. Wrong, Washirou?"
Past Kenjaku asks, holding the now named Washirou's hand with a worried expression.
Choso watched on, as his mind became flooded by further questions and doubts. He looked at Kenjaku's expression with worry, as he could sense a sense of dread emanating from this situation.
Choso had wanted Kenjaku's answer, but as he watched on, he began to sense that his answer may not be what he had expected. That feeling of dread, grew greater as more of Kenjaku's memories began to unfold.
"Something's going to happen, isn't it..?"
"Yes.. Something is. Get ready, because that's you who I am pregnant with.."
As Kenjaku drops a bombshell on Choso, the scene begins to escalate. Washirou silently draws his blade- a look of fear crosses past Kenjaku's expression, and he slowly releases Washirou's hand.. Backing away.
"S-Shirou?.. Why did you draw your blade-?"
Kenjaku stutters, fearfully trying to put distance between them. A twisted grin crosses Washirou's face, and a murderous glint sparks in his eyes.
"Shirou-.. Your scaring me.."
"Good."
Choso's eyes widened at Kenjaku's words, and Choso's mouth opened as he watched the scene unfolding before him.
His body began to shake again, as he looked on, feeling as though a pit in his stomach had opened up.. This isn't what he had expected, and he had only two questions. Who was Washirou, and why was he suddenly a threat?
Choso watched on, as Kenjaku's face was filled with fear at the situation.. He was worried for what's to come.
"Heh.. Heh... Heh..."
Washirou was not himself, Kenjaku seen it in his eyes. Kenjaku's bright brown eyes are filled with fear, as he starts breathing heavily, knowing who it is.
"Naite-.."
Washirou, possessed by Naite, grabs Kenjaku by the wrist before he could try to get away. Kenjaku gasps and struggles in the harsh grip..
"Let me go!"
"No.. Your not getting away from me, this time, little sparrow.."
Washirou purrs in a deep, sadistic voice. Kenjaku cries out as his wrist is gripped with crushing force.
"Please- stop! Gah-!"
Choso watched in a mixture of horror and shock, as he saw just how ruthless Washirou was. He saw, just how he grabbed Kenjaku's wrist, and how Kenjaku tried desperately to get away, unable to escape his grip.
As that happened, Choso looked at his father with a horrified expression, as his mind raced, thinking of what this all meant, and what had really happened, deep down, in Kenjaku's past life.
"Hold still, this won't take more than a moment~.."
Washirou pulls the sword upward, pointing the tip right at Kenjaku's pregnant abdomen. A look of horror crosses Kenjaku's face, and he begins to violently try and tear himself from Washirou's grip on his wrist.
"What?! No! No!! Let me go!"
Kenjaku continued to desperately struggle in Washirou's harsh grasp, but he simply couldn't break it...
Choso wanted nothing more than to move, and get between the two to protect Kenjaku.. But he only stood there as the scene continued to play out. He desperately wanted to save Kenjaku from this painful fate, but he stood there as an apparition, unable to move.
"No... Let him go.."
Choso said, his voice cracking, as he watched on, unsure of what to do... Only standing there, in shock and disbelief as Kenjaku's memories played in front of him.
"They can't hear you, Choso..."
Kenjaku quietly says, before the scene goes quiet.. As a sharp stab pierced through the air. The past Kenjaku stills completely, making a small, almost inaudible noise of pain.. A trickle of blood runs from the corner of his mouth. Shakily, with a horrified expression, Kenjaku looks down...
The sword went right through Kenjaku's stomach. Blood dyed his Yukata and other robes wet with crimson. Washirou releases Kenjaku's wrist, and Kenjaku falls to his knees, with the Katana slowly leaving him..
Suddenly, Washirou punches himself in the face.
"How.. Dare.. You.. Father..."
Washirou lowly growls to himself, to be replied to with a manic laugh from himself.
Choso gasped as he looked at the past scene in pure horror.. He never could have imagined, that something like that had happened to Kenjaku.. And his mind was flooded by questions.. Why had all of that happened? Who was this Washirou, and how did he end up dying anyway? His mind raced, as the scene continued to unfold in front of him, and he could barely take it..
Choso's body trembled violently, as a horrified expression was plastered on his face, as he saw Kenjaku's memory play out in front of him..
As Washirou fought with himself, Kenjaku struggled, quietly beginning to cry from pain, his blood coats the blade, it drips heavily onto the ground, pooling beneath him. A shuddery breath leaves him as the sword is completely removed. Kenjaku immidietly puts a hand over the stab, gasping as he feels nothing but wet-.. His blood.
Kenjaku visibly pales, his adrenaline skyrocketing as the situatuon becomes dire.. Naite and Washirou fight over control of his body, one hand on his head as Washirou fights against Naite. Kenjaku looked at his hand- now bloodied. He's.. Frozen.
Choso's mind went blank as he looked on, in absolute horror at the fate that Kenjaku had endured.. His mind was filled with questions.. What had happened just now? Who was responsible? He couldn't believe his fate.. And his fear only grew as he saw Kenjaku's condition begin to worsen.
Choso wanted to run over to Kenjaku, and try and heal him, and help him in any way he could.. But he could do nothing, and he could barely stand as his legs buckled beneath him, his mind flooded with terror..
As Washirou fought for control, the hand which gripped the Katana turns the blade around, he forces his other hand to grip the hilt. Just as Kenjaku looks up from his bloodied hand- his eyes go wide.
"W-Washirou-.. No.. No!"
Kenjaku cries out, trying to get up, but failing, only managing to fall onto the ground with a cry of pain, and a sorrowful sob. Washirou grits his teeth.
"This.. Is for hurting.. My family-"
Then, Washirou plunged his own katana into himself.. All goes quiet, as he falls to his knees. Even Kenjaku, becomes silent. His expression is that of horror..
Choso's blood ran cold at the gruesome fate that Kenjaku had suffered, before his eyes.. A pit of terror and shock grew in his stomach, and his mind went blank at the scene that played out in front of him. Choso looked on with a horrified expression, as tears welled up in his eyes, and he wanted nothing more than to close his eyes and wake up from this horrible nightmare..
"No..!"
He said silently, with his voice cracking, as he watched on, unable to look away from the gruesome scene that played out in front of him.
And then... The memory stops. The current Kenjaku appears next to Choso, looking on at the memory with a blank stare upon his face.
"And then, you were born a few hours, after all this mess. That's a memory I don't like re-living.. Because you didn't make it, Choso."
He says, rather quietly.
"You didn't cry, when you were born."
Choso snapped back to reality, when Kenjaku appeared next to him, and he watched as Kenjaku looked at the memory with a blank expression on his face.. The look of terror and anxiety still painted across Choso's face, and he looked at Kenjaku, unsure of what to say, or how to even begin to process what Kenjaku had just shown him.
"I'm..."
Choso's voice trailed off, unsure of how to continue, as he looked at Kenjoku in silence, feeling as though he'd been ripped completely in two.
"Washirou was your father. He killed himself-.. To repent for the damage he had already done, and to prevent further more."
Kenjaku says quietly, looking more and more solemn as everything floods back to him.
"You see, now, why things are the way they are? In no way do I think my memories give me an excuse, but they are an explanation. Isn't that precisely what you asked for, Choso?"
Kenjaku says, now looking at Choso with a melancholy gaze. These are the bones he buried long ago, bones he never thought would resurface as intact as they were the day he left them. Old wounds seer like they did the day he got them, but he ignored their pain. For it came so familiar, it was nothing new to him.
Choso was left in silence and disbelief, as Kenjaku laid the truth bare in front of him, as he looked at him with a melancholy look in his eyes, and Choso's mind tried to make sense of it all, as more questions began to fill his mind..
Choso wanted nothing more, than to wrap his arms around Kenjaku, and try and comfort him.. But he couldnt.. He could only stand there as tears ran down Choso's cheeks, and more questions began to fill his mind.. What kind of man was his father really?
"You want to see how the rest of the night plays out.. Don't you? Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. As long as we are here.. I'll humor your questions, as well."
Kenjaku says, rather honestly to Choso. While they are in his memories, Choso is allowed to ask him anything.. And Kenjaku won't lie to him. Choso will get the truth, which Kenjaku won't dance around. He stands silently, awaiting Choso's answer.
