Chapter Text
feeling weightless and weighed down drifted simultaneously within one's body as they’re thrashed about at the oceans mercy being nature’s rag doll in its currents. for awhile or even longer at least as of now that they’re now on land somewhat the only thing that seems to be floating is their hearing as it feels like it's a cork at sea when spoken to. “heeeyyyy” it was answered with gargled saltwater “this’ll do us no good” whatever spoke to them with a huff as it hovered over this poor souls body deciding it was a good idea to corkspin into their gut. coughing out all that saltwater they shot up aggressively “sweet mother of fuck” they shot a dirty look at who did it…. what???
this thing was floating next to them with little bits of outer space floating around it “you had Paimon worried about you!” ah so it has a name… why is it referring itself in third person? millions of questions began to fluctuate their mind while staring at it “did you forget saving Paimon already?” it sounded offended when asking.. “your that weird pixie thing I caught while falling down, thanks for the name or whatever” wait I was falling..? crossed their mind and promptly canceled that train of thought as they decided to leave the shoreline but were stopped by the floating pixie thing “hey hey hey!!! don’t leave Paimon alone!!!” it cried at them looking down right pathetic making them gritted their teeth in annoyance as their feet sank in slightly within sand. doing a deep breath it flare their nostrils “fine fine I won’t” it's not like they can anyways
bridging their fingers on their nose there was a sigh “you can call me Robyn but don’t be buddy buddy with me got it?” Paimon nodded, being giddy about her new friend “so Robyn how did you end here with me?”
…ah right, how did I end here…? I’m not dead that’s for sure so… the thought was paused due to a rumbling stomach “maybe after a meal it’ll help jog my memory..?” At least that was the idea they hoped for as they rested their hand on their chin in thought, eyes closed with knitted eyebrows trying to figure out a quick meal but made difficult with a set of annoying eyes staring at them intently “what are the horns and tail Robyn?” Robyn’s tail fluffed out slightly when it was finally pointed out by Paimon as it flicked quickly “I’ve had them ever since I can remember” they stated flatly as a matter of fact not like something a human should have. Not continuing from Paimon trying to pry into them, Robyn changed their focus and spotted an a stick with string with a hook farther inland Robyn ran to grab it, I need bait for this.. they murmured softly
They looked at their hands for a moment. It seems like Paimon forgot to point out their claws; they flexed for a moment with an idea. to dig in the dirt for bait which gave them the results for a fist full of worms “ew…” Paimon announced as Robyn’s bait started to squirm around “this will help us get dinner I promise” they huffed looking at Paimon who had no faith in this person that she did and didn’t semi just met through weird circumstances “wait how do you know how to do this? Paimon is confused” they had a sheepish look plastered feeling uncertain “it must be a skill I kept from a previous life?” Robyn wasn’t sure about it and really needs something to help jog a small part of their memories to understand why they’re even here at all “anyways let me catch dinner”
with the worm secured onto their hook Robyn flicked it into the same ocean that they were thrown about in and just waited… and waited… no one told them that it’ll be boring fishing which translates into a longer time of not eating anything. Their tail flicks because of it as Paimon does nothing besides poking at Robyn’s face then attempting for the horns but would get swat at and chided at after that she was told the horns were off limits but she wanted to test the waters before being tied off with discarded rope “I told you to not touch them or try annoying me so your now gonna wait until I finish fishing” Paimon flopped around crazy trying to get out “you can’t do this to Paimon!!!” She cried out to deaf ears as they laser focus on a bite
With little remorse they used their strength to whip it out at the price of that fish smacking them in the face and colliding with solid ground knocking them out for a moment where everything was black, body was limp too leaving a fish beside gasp for water until it went cold. Now Paimon could’ve laugh or said ‘that’s what you get for tying up paimon’ but no she panicked because they knew how to untie the rope and had a hunch that they could cook too but couldn’t confirm it

“We gotta run faster Edgar!” A voice shouted within an earshot that Robyn couldn’t put a finger on yet “what about Robyn brother?!” Brother…? They couldn’t move a muscle but that other voice was oddly more familiar. It must be that Edgar the other one mentioned “we can’t leave them to suffer her wrath!” Who’s wrath? What?? They opened their eyes to see they’re being carried “you’ve done the stupidest thing ever saving this thing Edgar” hearing that wounded Robyn as all of this was becoming more familiar.
Finally getting their bearings they begin to start Squirming out of Edgar’s grasp they release their bat-like wings and begin flying impressively fast so they wouldn’t be dead weight of the trio. “now that’s no way you should talk like that to a friend Micah” Robyn huffed now leading the pack seeing the destruction the three are trying to escape from
Fire and cubes lined their vision, whatever was left of home is gone forever and the perpetrator showed up when the trio were close to freedom. Creating a rift slowly stepping out the crimson woman spoke “thought you could get out of this outlanders?” The unknown goddess chastised all 3 who looked beat “why can’t you leave us alone!” Robyn yelled in anger, readying their dull blade, shakingly they were tired from their escape. “Outlanders like you should not be waving around toys like that now, hand them over!” the unknown goddess barked toward Robyn and crew
With unsteady breath Robyn lunges their attack with some aid of Edgar as well Micah but it proved to be no use as the woman kept deflecting their attacks until the very last moment with Micah being the closest he was swallowed up by the unknown goddess’s cubes never to be seen again. it shocked Robyn and enraged Edgar greatly so they doubled their efforts to strike that damn woman down but to only have their final attack canceled out. a cube explosion occurred causing Robyn and Edgar to separate
From there they were free falling into an unknown world, crashing into its ocean lost at sea never to be seen again
———————————————————————————————————————
Gasping for air once more this time it was somewhat different “Edgar! Micah-” tears rolling down as they were still for a moment with a dazed look that broke shortly “Robyn!!” they whipped their head quickly to Paimon who looked like she was crying for a solid hour “... hold on” they untied her from those confines muttering apologies as it felt like odd karma, to their surprise they were given a tackle hug by Paimon “you had Paimon worried sick meanie!” Their fingers flexed involuntarily with this new experience. “Sorry about that. really I mean it Pai” it seemed odd that they were talking to someone they just met with a sense of familiarity but couldn’t place it at the moment and shoved it away for now “remember how I said maybe food might jog my memory” they felt Paimon raise an eyebrow in their hug which prompted her to let go of Robyn to get a better look
The more they spoke the more it sounded like a novel came to life for Paimon intently listening before saying anything else at all. “So your ability to travel has been stripped of you by an angry lady and now ‘Edgar’, ‘Micah’ as well you are now stuck here…?” The pixie looked utterly confused even repeating it back to Robyn who was rubbing their neck stressfully with a soft sigh as a form of composing one’s self “correct, although I have no idea what my other powers are either but maybe I can learn more about them here in uh…” They were chewing at the side of a cheek realizing that all they had for a location was the shoreline and a bit of mountain “why don’t we traverse more we’ve been here more than awhile” Robyn said breaking the silence making their way up the grass path.
Walking up it felt weird but free at the same which made it hard to decide a correct emotion as they had a hand in tall grass feeling it bend slightly and snapping back into place. The birds song was a welcome change of noise than constant waves crashing into rock making it nearly impossible to focus if tuned out correctly. Their gaze wander off from tall grass to oddly glowing creature flying in front of their sights… pretty “hey Robyn-“ that moment of silence was short lived thanks to Paimon crashing into their silent moment lost it was further lost when low rumbling could be heard before a powerful gust of wind knocked them down face forward while Paimon got shot into a tree hole so no one was having a good time
“f augh what in the…?” No one could hear that with a face full of dirt so it got corrected by simply doing a push up with couple of pat downs getting any dust off “fuck me man what the hell was that?? Cause that wasn’t natural- oh shit space pixie” they ran over quickly to pull out that poor fool from her tree prison… It was a challenge to say the least trying to un-wedge something that is small somewhat. Paimon had gotten pulled on and stretched out like rubber refusing to leave (Paimon wanted to get out the tree is stubborn) it didn't help that squirrels were punting pinecones at Robyn considering them as an intruder and not the unknown creature lodged in their home. Which infuriated Robyn greatly with how they’re treated that they started to grind teeth until a popping noise causing to Robyn slam their back on solid ground grimacing in pain with a job well done their view for now was blue it felt serene albeit to achieve that view came at the price of falling ass over tea kettle but it seemed worth it at least.
Paimon took a bit of time before deciding to start hovering again towards Robyn’s face who looked now disappointed once more. Despite the fact Paimon had a gleeful look in her eyes Robyn got up in quick motion dusting off debris s causing some dust to fly off everywhere even getting into Paimon’s nose having her sneeze aggressively that made her flew backwards briefly. It took a lot of willpower for Robyn to not snicker at Paimon’s “misfortune” so they could focus on their goal of finding civilization or something “hey!!! Don’t you want to find out what did this to us?? Paimon does” now what Paimon said should be something they should do but it wasn’t really their problem and they don’t want to deal with trouble in this unknown world. “Tempting really but it’s not enough for me to even care really” they remarked as they walked farther and farther away from Paimon.
Despite having a lack of desire to investigate, fate has its own plans as while they traveled deeper into the woods they ended up in an opening spotting something massive. A dragon and a young man with short braided hair conversing with it? Robyn stopped in their tracks behind a bush so they could listen as curiosity was anyone’s instinct as their tail flicks watching the young man trying to do something. Are they friends…? I wonder- their thought was cut off when Paimon scrambled next to them “Paimon is upset that you left me-” they slapped a hand onto her mouth but it was too late. The dragon was alerted by their presence with a roar before taking off leaving an angry man staring at the two before disappearing leaving an odd teardrop crystal. Impulse took over with a shiny object that Robyn elected to ignore that it was floating and grabbed it.
For a moment it felt weird to touch but the more they held it the more sorrow they felt with the crystal in their palm. Something told them to hold onto this for later, They were graced with a pouch on their outfit and placed it in there for the time being. It was almost without a hitch before Paimon tackled them from behind and they almost dropped while pocking the crystal in their pouch. A sigh escaped their lips then whipped up at the pixie with daggers in their eyes.
Annoyed Robyn pulled on Paimon’s face “you couldn’t keep your mouth shut for the life of yourself can you??” her face was squishy when pulling on it sometimes as she tries to apologize with lil tears at the side of her face “ugh this is pointless anger” they let go resuming their walk down a pre-established trail trying to center themselves once more not expecting anything else to transpire until being stopped by a blob with little eyes wobbling towards them just mere moments after entering the widespace of an open area. Squinting for a moment they got a better look “a slime…?” Their observation was cut short when the hydro slime jumped at time, soaking their clothes “great…” Paimon was going to say something long winded before using their strength to punting the thing in a clear shot. A grin crept on their face with satisfaction “that face scares Paimon'' Robyn looked over and sighed “suppose so it would make me look evil-” Paimon gave them a look gesturing to the horns and tail currently on display “eviler anyways uh I probably should deal with this.”
It took a decent amount of effort to make a change of appearance “that should do it at least I think” not really paying attention where their hand landed to lean on something to relax for a moment. Their hand landed on something smooth almost which is unusual but what made it even more unusual was that they felt energy flow into them almost like a gust of wind. Eyes widened in a fraction of a second making it a third or fourth time they fell on their ass “Robyn!” Paimon yelled out to get their attention “huh…?” snapping out of it They looked at their hands or well palms to see that there was a faint glow of teal “what is this?” Light squeezes to see if this was real or not “Anemo” Paimon broke the silence “pardon?” they became more miffed as Paimon rested her hand on their hand “how on earth do you know what this is Paimon?” the small pixie stiffened for a moment “Paimon has no idea it sorta just came to Paimon” Robyn looked at her for a moment unsure if they should take her word or not but relented as it probably wouldn’t go anywhere else anyways.
The way things have been going had their head just spin ‘sentient slimes, Anemo’ whatever else will happen after that would be the cherry on top of this adventure. “Anemo means wind or something right?” Gears were turning in their skull “Paimon wants to how do you know that Robyn” Paimon asked with curiosity “I think after touching that statue and absorbing the information dots connected.” They answered with a bit of confidence in their voice. “Touching the statue of seven gave you Anemo powers?” Paimon’s head tilted for a moment at Robyn “I guess so” and with that they were feeling up to an experiment Robyn raised their right hand at some leaves focusing their energy into it they made a small tornado “woah…” their eyes twinkled in excitement “this is so cool!!” they got excited about this “who knows what else-” musings were cut short when a flash of red dropped in front of them.
“god dammit now what” a groan resonated from their throat as they squint at the new person just arriving all clad in red with a cute red bow that mimicked rabbit ears. For a brief moment the air was stale as the girl adjusts herself with one arm behind her back “as a Knight of Favonius I outrider Amber require for you to stop where you stand” Robyn stood awkwardly sidewise hearing this girl integrating the two as they didn’t look like Mondstat natives. Paimon attempted to smooth things out as it seem like she could speak the language fluently but Amber wasn’t taking any of it “Look if you want names which I assume you do as I don’t think there’s any wiggle room out of this” Robyn pinched their nose bridge lightly “my name is Robyn and this is my translator Paimon” or was as Paimon’s icebreaker somehow helped them to learn the language which miffed them for a moment to not look at Amber but was snapped back to reality by Paimon so they could notice Amber’s mood soften a bit based off their body language “I do want to apologize if I was to brash with you, it's just that we’re dealing with a dragon right now as we just spotted one flying past Mondstat'' a dragon..? could it be “Anyways it's dangerous to be even out here now so I’ll escort you two to the city”
“Escort us? I get it if you know the way in all but it feels like there’s another reason” Robyn squinted at Amber trying to get a read off from her “ah well in all honesty really I don’t fully trust either of you still, one being that how you two just magically arrived it seemed and your clothing don’t match the residence of Mondstat” neither does yours?? was plastered on their face however, arguing semantics isn’t going to get them anywhere with still not knowing where the fuck they are “I get that truly I seem very alien to you don’t I?” Amber nodded “we should get going” from there she guided the two travelers to Mondstat so they can figure out where the hell are they which they soon will learn that it is Teyvat
