Work Text:

The cold breeze ran through the windows of the faded-cyan truck, breezing through Tai and Vans hair as they fixated on the giant screen infront of them.

They didn't usually go to drive-in movies but Jackie and Shauna convinced them to go, that and the fact that they could make out discreetly. They parked the speakers on their windowsill before they threw the front seats back, crawling to the back of the car. As soon as Van made it to the back of the car, Tai tucked her ginger hair behind her ears, pulling her in for a kiss. Van rested her hands on Tais waist, nails curving around to lightly support her back.

The sound from the movie entered the car, making Vanessa pull away with a laugh, clapping her hand over her mouth, "I'm so sorry- It's just the chase scene playing during this." Her laughter infected her curlyhaired partner, as she lay her chin on Vans shoulder. They sit there for a while, giggling and cutting up like usual, it was casual, unlike the screams of the blonde-headed bimbo on the screen.

Tai crawled off of Van, sitting down next to her. "Oh shit, the popcorn," Van pointed to the classic red and white popcorn container resting between the two front seats, earning a huff from Tai as she reached for it, nearly dropping it as she pulled back. She slouched in the seat, snuggling up to Van as she placed the container on her lap. They watched the movie for a while, mocking the tall guy with short, blonde, slightly curly hair as he guffawed. Tai held onto Van tightly at the chase scenes, not because she was scared but because it was an excuse.

"Great, what I need, more straight sex on the big screen," Van scoffed a little too loudly, Tai shushing her through her laughter as she leaned in for a quick kiss. When they pulled apart, Van laid her hand on Tais face, feeling the soft, warm skin rub against her thumb. As her heart fluttered, Tai crashed their lips together, melding together in a blend of passion and patience. As Tai crawled ontop of Van, Van pressed her back against the car door, protecting them from the outside eye as they continued to make out. While moving her shoes, Tai knocked the popcorn onto the ground, butter melting into the carpet below. "Shit!" She looked down at the lonely popcorn, spilling out onto the floor (A/N: THE POPCORN.). They awkwardly bantered about who would get refills until Tai ran out apologetically. Van buried her head in her hands, groaning in frustration. When she finally calmed herself down she realized this is supposed to be a date, not awkward.

So Tai came back, cozying up next to Van. She didn't rush things this time, she sat there, becoming familiar with the feeling of Tai being there, clinging on. The movie was good now that they were watching it, it better be, it just came out. Warm hands grabbed her face, pulling her lips to meet Tais as they melted into eachother. When they pulled away, Van wrapped an arm around Tai, snuggling again with the occasional kiss or shift in movement. Aside from that it was perfect, despite the cheap and uncomfortable seats, despite the sobbing from Neve Campbell on-screen. Honestly, that all made it more them, trial and error, never perfect.
