Work Text:
“Um, Prince Fogado?”
Fogado didn’t appear to hear him.
“Prince Fogado?” Alcryst whispered again.
“Mm?” Fogado didn’t turn his head, but his star-pupil eyes darted over.
“Are you absolutely sure about this?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Are you sure you’re sure?”
“Yes.” Fogado gave Alcryst a smile that could sell water to a fish. “Why?”
“It’s just…” Alcryst fidgeted. “Do you love me? Truly?”
“Bit late to ask me if I love you, isn’t it?”
“Be that as it may, I… I just want to be certain that-”
His sentence tapered into a squeak as Fogado leaned in, gently turned Alcryst’s head, and kissed him. It was a short kiss, tender, chaste. Though Fogado’s grin as he pulled back was significantly less so.
“Well?” His hand lingered on Alcryst’s chin as lovingly as Alcryst’s eyes lingered on him.
“Oh…” Alcryst flushed pink, but a smile of his own was rising to his lips. “Prince Fogado-”
“Ahem.”
The princes looked up to see Pandreo staring at them in deadpan silence.
“Whoops, my bad,” said Fogado, winking cheerily.
“Oh no, I’m so sorry,” said Alcryst, bowing guiltily.
“Thank you.” With a fond roll of his eyes, Pandreo returned his gaze to his holy tome. “Today, you have united two countries and two sets of friends. From this day forth, all shall know you as co-travellers through life – as adventurers, companions, and soulmates.”
Already, cheers and applause started to fill the Somniel’s eternal blue skies. Pandreo spread his arms wide as if to embrace them.
“In the presence of this good company, by the power of the Divine, I am honored to declare you partners for life.” He beamed. “Now you may seal your promise with a k-”
Funnily, it was not Fogado but Alcryst who grabbed his husband’s waist and dipped him to the ground.
