30 days of prompts, Day 7: "There's something in the water."

Summary:

Chris has learnt a lot of things about his boyfriend, including how he likes to relax.

Notes:

Thank you, as always, for all the lovely kudos and reviews. They always make me smile and give me the confidence to keep posting. I haven't written fanfiction in years and I'm really happy people seem to be enjoying this collection of stories.

I kind of wanted to focus on Leon and Chris' relationship, outside of fighting Bioterror and so, I guess, this is a twist on a prompt that could have veered into, and at one point did, them fighting a giant BOW.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

30 Days of Prompts, Day 7:

"There’s something in the water”

“There’s something in the water,” Chris sounded bemused as he stared into their frankly enormous bathtub, before switching his gaze to his boyfriend, who was in the process of undressing.

He had learned a lot of things about Leon Scott Kennedy since they’d begun dating.  Like the fact he only drank whiskey when he wanted to drown his sorrows and that after a hard day he enjoyed a nice, relaxing bath and a glass of good brandy.

Before they’d begun dating Chris had never tried anything other than Epsom salts when he was feeling particularly achy or tired after a long day training or a particularly tough mission.  However, due to Leon’s enjoyment of life’s little luxuries, in the last few months, he’d tried all manner of bubble baths and muscle soaks, but this… this was new.

“It’s a bath bomb,” Leon answered, “I thought it might be nice to try one together.”

Chris had been vaguely aware of a bath bomb and what one was, but he hadn’t known just how large a variety of them there were until they’d started popping up in their bathroom and he certainly hadn’t realised they could turn the water that bright and shimmering a pink.

Chris continued to look at the bath as he pulled off his shirt.  One of the stipulations when they’d been house hunting was a bathtub big enough for the two of them to enjoy together.  It had taken a while, but Chris was happy they hadn’t compromised.

“It will stop fizzing soon, and then we can get in,” Leon explained as he paused in his undressing.

Clad only in his boxer briefs, he walked over and pressed himself to Chris’ back.  He wrapped his arms around him, sighing softly, happily.

“Long day?” Chris asked, with a small chuckle.  Leon hummed in the affirmative and nuzzled at Chris’ neck.

“Come here,” Chris murmured softly and turned to properly fold Leon into his arms.  He kissed him softly on the cheek and Leon rested his head on his shoulder.

Chris continued to hold Leon for a few more minutes, waiting for the other man to pull away.  When he did, he didn’t go too far.

“Ok, looks like it’s ready.” Leon informed him, briefly looking at the bathtub, before turning back to Chris.

Leon put just enough distance between them to finish undressing and then stepped into the bath.  Chris followed suit and got in himself.  He positioned himself at one end of the tub so that Leon could lean back against him.

“So, what do you think?” Leon asked after a few quiet minutes had passed between them.

“It’s not like I was expecting,” Chris admitted, “I kind of thought it might be gritty and I didn’t expect it to smell so good.”

“Maybe we can pick one together then next time,” Leon mused, clearly pleased that Chris was enjoying himself.

“I’d like that,” Chris replied as he ran his hands up Leon’s arms to his shoulders, “But for now, let me help you relax,” he offered, beginning to rub Leon’s shoulders just the way the other man liked.  “And you can tell me what you feel like doing this weekend.”
