Work Text:

In a secluded grotto in Galar, lit up with mushrooms. A blue-marked Toxtricity: Tenor, rests his head on the claw of his ink-etched Golisopod lover, Ikaika…

“Stay with me, Ika…” Tenor whispers, his hand slowly moving up to Ikaika’s chest. Leaning towards the face of his bug-eyed lover, the two lock eyes, both exhausted, yet prepared…

The tattooed Golisopod raises his head to gaze upon his Toxtricity lover. Seductive little thing. He closes his eyes and rests. “I’m not going anywhere, Ten.”

Tenor inches closer to Ikaika’s body, laying his whole body on top of his lover’s. The static tingle of his chest soothes Ikaika as he exhales sigh of relaxation.

“Hey, don’t sleep yet.” Tenor rises atop his lover’s body. Ikaika opens his eyes and raises his head again, the two of them longingly staring in silence before it is broken, “I want to give you something.”

The Toxtricity’s face draws nearer, until the two are eye to eye. Ikaika feels the electricity between them intensify as his smaller claws loosen up and his body rises to sit. Tenor moves even closer to Ikaika, before bringing his mouth to the mouth of his lover.

Emotions whirl within the bodies of the two lovers. Without even asking, Ikaika embraces Tenor as the two of them share their essence with each other. Poison upon water. The tattooed Golisopod had grown accustomed to the taste of Tenor’s poison: a tangy, yet suddenly bittersweet taste. Even as it entered his blood, he has endured through the pain many times over, just to hold Tenor in his arms.

Ikaika embraces the throbbing pain that seeped in with the poison, feeling the electric sting course through his body. Some may say it feels as if it were the most excruciating pain they’ve ever felt, but to Ikaika? It was pleasure. A poison like Tenor’s could kill in a matter of seconds. Ikaika has experienced the poison so many times, he’s almost immune to it. Chitters of ecstasy escape from the tattooed Golisopod’s mouth as similar sounds come from his Toxtricity lover. Alone in the forest. With mushrooms to light up their night.

The two part mouths as poison spills from Ikaika’s mouth. “My returning gift.” whispers Tenor, wiping the gunk off his lover. “I’m… so happy you came back to me. Life without you was a nightmare.”

Ikaika brings Tenor closer to his body, the horn of the Toxtricity practically right underneath his jaws, “Thanks, Ten. I’m happy to be home.”

“Did you get anything for me when I was away…?” The tattooed Golisopod asks, eager to share his experiences in Splatsville.

An ache in Tenor’s heart forbade him from saying something to make Ikaika feel better, so he spills the truth, “I… couldn’t. Whenever I thought about buying something, I couldn’t help but think about you, and what you’d want. I already made my choices, but it felt… it felt wrong to make your decisions without your consent.”

An exhale of breath leaves Ikaika’s mouth, “So that’s how it was for you? Then, I guess I’ll share something from when I was away…” A flinch of pain jerks the tattooed Golisopod from standing up. Looks like the poison is still coursing through him, and that his little surprise will have to wait. “Hngh! Okay… looks like you’re gonna have to wait… but… I did learn a new language… come closer…”

Tenor is moved even more forwards, his face practically buried in Ikaika’s soft body, contrast to his hard-scaled shell. Feeling the vibrations coming from the chest of his lover, he listens. “Aishiteru.” Oh, he just had to deepen his voice, huh? Tenor’s face fumes with blush, holding onto his loverbug even tighter. “It’s a phrase I learned in Splatlandian. It means ‘I love you.’ It’s good, huh?”

With droopy eyes and a happy soul ready to rest, Tenor sighs, “Yeah… it’s good…” Before long he soon dozes off on top of Ikaika, the latter of which has managed to lie down, the pain of the poison bringing him back to rest.

The tattooed Golisopod stares at the stars beyond the tall, blackened trees that hide their location. He gazes upon them and wonders if the same stars could be seen in Splatsville. Alas, the poison continues to flow through him, as he succumbs to the pain and sleeps. “Thank you… Ten…”

Notes:

Hello! This is one of many fics that I have compiled over a few months. I hope you enjoyed reading it! (And yes, there is a hint of Splatoon, I am pulling a non-linear storytelling.)
