Silver paced around the room as the news played on in the background. The reporter talked about the full moon and how it was going to be closer to the planet than usual. For the past couple of years, he had been dealing with the werehog curse. Each full moon he transformed into a werehog. Even though it gave him super strength he lost his ability to use his powers. “While the full moon will be a unique sight tonight be aware of the unusual activity. Some beings may enter a berserk mode if they find themselves outside in direct exposure of the moon.” The reporter said though Silver paid no attention to it. He didn’t even notice Blaze, his girlfriend, approaching him.
“Silver are you alright?” Blaze asked resting a hand on his shoulder. “Hey, I’m fine I just need to prepare for the full moon. Something feels different tonight.” Silver responded trying to hide his fear. “I’ll be here if you need some help with the transformation.” Blaze said before turning off the tv. Silver watched Blaze walk into the kitchen before looking up to the second floor. He sighed and climbed the stairs taking a glance out of the small window halfway up. The sun was in the process of setting leaving him with a few minutes before the curse would take hold once again. He managed to reach his bedroom just as the transformation began.
The pain was so intense that it dropped him to his knees. Some days were better than others as the pain ranged between nonexistent to debilitating. There was no way of knowing what would happen until it actually happened. For some reason it was taking much longer than usual for the transformation. During a usual night he was engulfed in a cloud of dark energy. This time he was aware of his teeth growing larger and sharper. Fur slowly covered his entire body as sharp claws grew. Seconds after it finished Silver roared so loud that it shook the entire room. The shelf next to the door shook wildly causing the figurines to fall to the floor. “What was all of that? I don’t feel any different, but man did that hurt.” Silver muttered to himself, his voice deeper and rougher than his usual voice. Picking himself off of the floor he quickly surveyed the damage. The picture of him and Blaze that was sitting on the bedside table had fallen over. He carefully picked it up only to find the glass cracked from one corner to the other. He looked at the vanity Blaze used to do her makeup. The surface was covered in various makeup containers that had been knocked over.
Seeing that everything was relatively intact Silver left the room in search of Blaze. From the railing he could see into the kitchen where Blaze was supposed to have been earlier. Instead, he didn’t see anyone there. Before he could process what was going on the doorbell rang. He wasn’t sure who’d be coming over as he had given instructions to not visit during the full moon. “No one should be coming over today.” Silver muttered. Once again, the doorbell rang. Silver sighed and made his way downstairs to see who was at the door. He silently opened the door expecting to see Tails outside. To his surprise Silvia was there, though she seemed more nervous than what was normal for her. “Silvia what are you doing here? I thought you weren’t coming over during the full moon.” Silver asked. “Well, I just got this feeling that you might need a little help tonight due to the unusual full moon.” Silvia explained.
Silver sighed and stepped back to let her come in. He knew he couldn’t stop her as she was too stubborn if she was interested in something. “Silvia what’s wrong?” Silver asked noticing that she was staring at something behind him. No response. Silver followed her gaze to the backyard and froze as he saw the creature outside. “Who is that outside?” Silvia asked. “Stay behind me Silvia. Something just feels off and I don’t want you to get hurt.” Silver responded as he slowly crept towards the double glass doors. Each step sounded so loud that he feared that whatever was outside would hear him. The figure was hunched over with their back turned away from him. The purple fur seemed to glow in the light of the moon. Silver let out an audible gasp causing the creature to spring up and whip around to face him.
“What happened to you Blaze? I would have remembered if I had bitten you.” Silver asked the large werecat in front of him. Instead of the more cat like appearance Blaze was almost fully wolf. Seconds later Blaze snarled loudly before leaping towards Silver. He attempted to dodge her, but he wasn’t fast enough. He could feel her claws dig into his arm as she moved past. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted Silvia using her powers to stop Blaze from reaching her. Silver watched Blaze and remembered what Shadow had described as the werehog berserk form. Apparently when Silver had entered that form, he acted more like a wolf, more animalistic and instinctual. All Silver seemed to have done was wildly go after Shadow until he was knocked out.
The description seemed to match what was happening to Blaze although there was no high-pitched noise in the surrounding area. “Leave her alone!” Silver called out to the beast. Blaze turned around and stared down Silver. Silver was prepared for her charge this time. “I’m sorry.” He muttered as he swung at Blaze and knocked her away from him. It distracted her for a few seconds as she quickly got back to her feet. Silver moved to stand between Silvia and Blaze.
“What happened to her? She was just fine last month.” Silvia asked. “I don’t know, I wasn’t aware of anyone biting her which is how this usually spreads.” Silver responded not taking his eyes off of Blaze. Silvia looked around and spotted a large metal sheet leaning against the side of the house. She sprinted towards it as Blaze noticed she was there. “Hopefully this works.” Silvia said as she hit it. The sheet made a surprisingly low noise, causing Blaze to stumble backwards. The sound seemed to disorient Blaze in a similar way to Silver when he was exposed to a very high-pitched noise with Shadow. Silver thought he could see Blaze’s form change slightly. “Silvia just keep hitting it I think it’s turning her into a normal werecat.” Silver said following Blaze’s movements.
With each hit Silver could see Blaze turning into the normal form of werewolves and other similar creatures. On the tenth hit Blaze had fully reverted out of the berserk form. Silver rushed towards her to catch her before she fell. “Is it over?” Silvia asked slowly approaching Silver and Blaze. “It should be, we just have to wait for her to wake up.” Silver responded, gently setting Blaze on the ground. He could feel the curse clinging to her fur though it was slightly different compared to Sonic and Shadow. Silver looked at his arm where he had been cut. The bleeding had already stopped as it didn’t seem to be as deep as he had thought.
Silvia and Silver sat in silence as they waited for Blaze to wake up. After a few minutes she opened her eyes and slowly sat up. “What even happened? The last thing I remember is standing in the kitchen before heading out to watch the moon rise.” Blaze asked. “Blaze, you had transformed though you were stuck in some kind of berserk form. I don’t remember you ever getting bit before tonight. Silvia managed to get you out of that form.” Silver explained. Blaze noticed Silver’s injury and move back several feet. She rested her head between her hands and looked at the ground. “Wouldn’t Tails know anything? I mean he’s been working with you and Sonic. He might have found something out about what might have happened to Blaze.” Silvia suggested. “That might work, just not tonight. Blaze is too freaked out and I’d rather not disturb him without at least talking to Shadow and Sonic. At least that way we’re all on the same page as this is bigger than we initially thought.” Silver responded his gaze remaining fixed on Blaze.
He silently moved over to Blaze’s side and placed his hand on her shoulder. “Why are you staying next to me when I hurt you?” Blaze asked with tears in her eyes. “I know you weren’t in control. You’ve helped me with my transformation and I’m doing the same for you. Isn’t this what being in love is about?” Silver explained. He wasn’t going to leave her alone when she was struggling with everything. He looked up and the moon, silently hoping that no one else was dealing with something similar. He wasn’t worried about Shadow as he lived alone, though he did visit Rouge once in a while. If anything, Sonic was the one he was most concerned about beside the other gender bends. Amy had moved in with him a few weeks earlier. “Sonic please be careful. Don’t be afraid to defend yourself in something happened to Amy.” Silver muttered as he felt Blaze shift next to him. He glanced over to see she was starting to calm down enough to touch his hand which hadn’t moved from her shoulder.
