Work Text:

Moonstar's eyes welled up as she recalled what her sire was telling her in the conversation they just had. She thought by some small hope that he still cared about Ratchet. She knew that Ratchet had acted out of line towards him when he talked to him. But she wasn't told the full story. She knew there was more to it. But like always, no one told her. It was clear to her that Savoy knew and obviously her sister would know the full interaction between Ratchet and her sire.

She knew that by that answer, there was no chance now. Anything she would say wouldn't work any longer with what she planned. She didn't just want to say something that could have ended up false, which it did. So she wanted to ask her sire first before going with Pinhead into a dream walk to talk to Ratchet while he was unconscious. She had wanted to take the chance while it was there, no matter how small to save Ratchet from the hatred that consumed him. But now... now she wasn't sure.

Pinhead stood at her side, looking concerned at her. She swallowed thickly before taking in a shuddering breath. She knew what she had to do, and it was tearing her apart. Over two years of searching for the real Ratchet, and this is how it ends up being. Him hating her sire, just like even back then. It was clear no one wanted him there. It broke her heart more when she thought back on the sparkling, who looked almost identical to the chartreuse medic, only with sharp digits and a slimmer frame.

"I'm ready," she whispered, having made her decision after the conversation ended badly with her sire.

"Are you certain?" Pinhead asked.

"Yes," she said.

She knelt next to Ratchet's helm, closing her eyes and resting her head against his armor. She swallowed again, feeling the tears flowing nonstop now. She reached up with a hand, pressing it to the armor next to her face.

"I'm so sorry. I wish things were different. I wish you weren't like this. But you've caused too much pain for my family and sire. I cannot allow that to continue to happen. You made your decision with what you are doing and did do. I know what you tried to hide from me," she whispered, knowing he would hear her, but not be able to do anything. "Goodbye Ratchet."

She stepped back, wiping at her tears only for more to replace them. It was a lot harder than she thought it would be. Pinhead went up to Ratchet, placing a hand on the medic and muttering a spell. There was a small flash of light and explosion before Pinhead stood alone and Ratchet was no longer there, having been teleported someplace else the moment his spark was snuffed out.

Moonstar stared at the spot with dead, wet eyes. She clenched her teeth and looked away when she heard the sparkling start crying for his carrier and Face trying to comfort him. But Ratchet couldn't stay if he was going to be a danger and be evil. Even her son had said that he felt pure evil from him. Everything she fought for the past few years on getting him back just vanished within seconds. His life was extinguished and his body left somewhere as a warning of what was to come. She knew Pinhead wasn't too pleased about something. He was planning to do something.

Moonstar turned around and started heading back for the shared room. Pinhead followed by, knowing how deeply she was hurting. She always had felt something was off, even if she couldn't quite place what cause it wasn't clicking for her and her mind would go blank when she thought too hard on it. The moment she saw Ratch on the berth, she went up to him and wrapped her arms around his neck tightly, gripping his back. The orange and white medic was surprised, embracing her back.

"Moonstar? What's wrong?" Ratch asked.

"Don't leave me too... please I can't lose another... I just can't... it hurts too much...," Moonstar sobbed, gripping onto him tighter.

"Pinhead?" Ratchet asked.

"The chance of saving your counterpart was lost. She knows what you also discovered. I had to send him away," Pinhead explained. "She wished to say a final goodbye before I did. She's afraid of losing you as well since you are a Ratchet as well. She is afraid that we will be deemed evil somehow as well and she will lose all five of us."

"Nonsense," Ratchet said. "I doubt that is going to happen."

"...I keep losing my mates... every one had been... told they were evil... I can't take it anymore...," Moonstar whimpered. "Why does this keep happening? Why... am I always told they are evil... Even before... it's like I am not allowed to want... the ones who made my life so much better... I-I couldn't save them... I tried so hard to... and I couldn't save them..."

"It is specifically any version of you and Megatron that are targeted towards her that are always somehow end up evil and leaving," Pinhead clarified more for Ratchet, reading her thoughts. "That is what is breaking her the most. Because of that happening so often, she is afraid you will end up leaving her as well. She is afraid that something will go wrong with Optimus, Prime, Vittorio, and me too and she will lose us. It still effects her what happened to Megatron."

"What happened?" Optimus asked.

"He became lost. She wanted to save him, but before she could take the chance to, he was killed by his father for what he did to your counterpart," Pinhead said.

"I was going to..... have sire help with it..... but he seems to have given up on.... Megatron..... Because of what Ratchet did.... Megatron feels like he can't be loved..... except for by Ratchet..... that's why me and Meg..... got hurt to..... I c-couldn't even save him...... I didn't get the chance to..... I knew something..... was off when he was trying..... to keep the twins...... and his emotions were..... all over.... and he wasn't like that before," Moonstar explained while trying to stop herself from crying. "W-What he needed..... was sire to show him..... he was loved.... and his creators to break..... the hold Ratchet had on him.... But it's too..... late for that now....."

"I think I have finally got it," Vittorio piped up from the corner where he was mediating at. His tattoos were glowing brightly all over his body. "Bring her over here Ratch."

Ratch got up, carrying her over bridal style to Vittorio. He placed a hand on her head, muttering something she didn't understand. It did make her a bit tired however and she tried to fight the urge to sleep.

"Don't fight it," Vittorio whispered. "It'll be okay."

"Make sure she is taken care of. I have unfinished business I need to do with Non. An ally has contacted me of his whereabouts. I'm going to end this," Pinhead said, his voice sounding distant to her. She felt his cold lips press against her head. "I'll return, my Dark Angel. It will be okay."

She didn't have the strength to fight anymore. Between the major mental breakdown, the emotions running too high for her to handle, and Vittorio working his magic, it was draining her. She started to fall into the darkness. All she wanted was sleep now.
