“Okay Adrien, take your pick.”
Jason walks across the Batcave with an arm full of crowbars and a case in his hand. He places them on a table, spreading them all out for Adrien to see. Some have a suspicious amount of red on them.
Adrien looks to Jason with his eyes slightly narrowed, eyebrows raised, and head at a slight tilt. Jason unintentionally ignores the expression as he steps back to be beside Adrien. He throws an arm around him.
“What do you think? You can have any of these that you would like. There are plenty of knifes in this case right here. Some I have only used a couple of times.”
Jason gives a wide, proud smile. Adrien shakes his head with a roll of his eyes.
“I appreciate the thought Jason but why are you offering me all this? I don’t think I really need a weapon. Plus, no offense, none of these speak to me.”
Jason sulks a little. Adrien puts his arm around Jason’s waist, pulling him in closer. The action catches Jason wildly off guard.
“You, however…” he takes his hand then lines from the back of Jason’s head, under the jaw and stops at his cheek. “Would be poorly mistaken to think I am helpless and unarmed. You hurt my bug. I hurt you. How’s the saying go? An eye for an eye.”
“Adrien!”
Marinette skips down the steps into the cave. Adrien gives Jason a wide smile.
“We’ll finish this up later.”
He lets go of Jason and runs up to Marinette, pulling her into a hug. She playfully pushes him away. He pouts.
“What have I told you about interrogating people?”
“Not to.”
“And what were you doing?”
“…not interrogating.”
“Sure, is that what he was doing Jason? Not interrogating you.”
Jason blinks as he tries to nonchalantly collect himself. Marinette interprets the situation incorrectly.
“Come on Adrien. You can interrogate one of the rogues. I’m sure Riddler would get a kick out of it.”
“You just want an excuse to go see your girlfriend.”
Marinette takes a step with an expression of ‘the audacity’. She acts offended but it is short lived. Jason’s curiosity changes that.
“Wait, you two aren’t dating?”
Adrien and Marinette bust out laughing. Adrien has his hands on his knees from how hard his laughter is. Jason nearly turns around in regret for asking.
“No, no wait. It’s a common mistake. We have run with it for so long that it can be a little hard to switch of. It’s alright because my partner doesn’t mind. Her love language isn’t physical contact, so Adrien fills that gap.”
He wraps himself around Mari, protectively. She shakes her head while she pats his head.
“You’ll always be mine Mari. You’re stuck with me forever.”
“I know kitty but there’s going to be a special someone for you eventually. We’re partners forever. It’s okay to have your own relationship too. Who knows, maybe they’re here in Gotham.”
“You think so?”
Adrien sends a sneaky glance to Jason. He catches Adrien’s look toward him but not his comment.
“Anyway, sorry to leave you with Adrien “Interrogation” Allen here. I’ll take him out of your hands. Come on Kitty. We have some patrolling to do.”
Adrien lets go of Marinette then runs up the stairs to get the door for them. Marinette gives Jason a wave before she turns to head up the stairs. All Jason can do is blink.
Marinette exits. Adrien lingers just long enough to catch Jason’s eyes one last time. He sends a cheeky wink. The door closes quickly behind him.
Jason lets out a puff of air as he runs his hand through his hair.
“Barry Allen, the Flash, has a son and he’s the Chat Noir. I’ve fallen for a Cheetah. Fuck, I’ll never hear the end of this.”
