"It's okay. It's over. It's over it can't hurt you anymore. He's safe. He's safe." Dani holds Jamie close, stroking her hair. Jamie is shaking like a leaf in Dani's arms.
"It hurt and it was scary." Jamie sobs burying her head into Dani's neck.
"I know hun, I know. But I will be here if anything happens. I'll protect you."
"Things have already happened." Jamie sobs
"Things like what?" Dani asks cautiously
Jamie's breathing becomes unsteady and she mentally prepares herself for the worst. "It's not important... I'm just overreacting... It's nothing" Jamie says untruthfully trying and failing to assure Dani that she's okay. Jamie looks at Dani weakly "Can we drop this?"
Dani sighs, she doesn't want to be pushy but at the same time she has her concerns for Jamie but she doesn't voice them wanting Jamie to open up to her when she is ready not when she feels forced to.
*3 weeks later*
To what Dani is aware, Jamie's panic attacks have become less frequent. Dani doesn't know why but as long as her partner is happy, so is she. The thing that worries Dani, are the things she isn't aware of as she knows that she doesn't know the full story; and she wonders how much longer until Jamie breaks.
Dani is sat on her bed Jamie hasn't been at the manor for about a week and Dani is getting increasingly worried about her so she decides to go to Owen for help as she knows Owen and Jamie are close.
She walks into the kitchen where Owen is making dinner. "Owen can I talk to you for a bit?"
"Sure what's up Dani?" Owen greets with his usual friendly but tired tone and a warm smile.
"I need to talk about Jamie. Have you seen her in town at all? I'm worried about her."
"No she hasn't left her flat in ages I knocked on her door a few days ago but she didn't answer the door but I could see light peeking through the curtains."
"Oh...would it be okay f you gave me her address so I can check on her?"
Owen hesitates but agrees as he knows Dani and Jamie 'get along well'. "Sure what harm can it do, I can drive you if you like."
"I'd really appreciate that, thank you Owen."
*20 minutes later*
Dani is stood outside the door to Jamie's flat, she's surprisingly nervous. She knocks on the door...No reply... She knocks again... Still no reply... Dani tries the handle but the door is locked. Dani looks at the ground not knowing what to do and then she sees a small bump in the mat on the doorstep. She looks under the mat and finds a small silver key which she picks up and pushes into the lock on Jamie's door. She turns the key and the door opens... Dani walks cautiously into Jamie's flat, she can't hear or see Jamie but she can sense that the other woman is home. Dani looks around the flat and finds the bathroom door is slightly ajar...
