It was lunch time and Ness went to ask Kaiser if he wanted to have lunch together.
He just got yelled at again…
…So he decided to leave Kaiser alone.
He was sitting alone in the cafeteria and ate his food in silence.
That was until he saw that someone is walking towards his direction
Yoichi? What does he want? Ness thought..
but his thoughts were interrupted by a voice—
“Hey, can I sit here?”
Ness looked up and just nodded, he didn’t have the energy to say anything now.
“i just wanted to say—now that we’re alone.. I’ve always admired your passes!”
What? “Are you mocking me?” Ness answered.
He was angry, did Yoichi sit next to him just to make fun of him?
“I- No!— I know we started on the wrong foot and i apologize for that..”
Ness scoffed “..alright then”
After that Yoichi just kept talking about soccer—and Ness would be lying if he said that his ramblings weren’t interesting.
He was just nodding or answering with a
simple “okay” because he still wasn’t quite sure if Yoichi was serious.
Ness didn’t know why Yoichi was talking to him. It was confusing…
“-and then he just—“
Ness chuckled
—oh fuck.
Ness quickly covered his mouth with
his hands
Then he just stared at Yoichi and quietly
said— “I’m sorry. Did my smile creep you out..?”
“What? Of course not, You have lovely smile!”
“What? Of course not, You have a lovely smile!”
huh?
oh.
“o-oh—uhm thank you..” Ness answered.
Yoichi just smiled and started talking
about his interests again.
Lunch ended and Ness went back to his dorm and laid down on his bed.
“What? Of course not, You have a lovely smile!”
Ness couldn’t stop thinking about those simple words.
No one has ever said that to him. People would often say that his smile was weird or that they wish he would laugh more quietly—
Even Kaiser said it..So why Yoichi didn’t?
Why didn’t he look away?
Ness felt a tear stroll down his face..
Why was he crying? Ness doesn’t understand.
Why was Yoichi so.. kind? Ness thought
Ness wants to talk to Yoichi again..
he doesn’t know why.
But he does know that he wants to.
