Before the Yiling Patriarch, there was only Wei Wuxian, whose only dying wish was to be loved. In his final moments, as the sounds of screaming blurred out, he was left alone with his thoughts. All he could think of was whether or not someone had truly loved him. Both his dear Shijie and Shidi loved him, but what did it feel like to be truly loved? To be held without having to ask, making meals together, and growing old with a future on the horizon.
Then looking back, he realized he knew. All those moments spent annoying a certain person, who had never truly left him. Just stood by his side, hoping that he would only get better. He sobbed for the last time as he took his last breath, knowing that at least in this cruel world, someone had truly loved him. Lan Zhan. Lan Wangji. Lan-er-gege. Hanguang-jun. His Lan Zhan. His beloved.
