Hands and Lips

Summary:

Caboose and Donut are watching a movie on Donut's bed when, suddenly, Caboose feels something touch his hand. Gayness ensues.

Notes:

I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS!! I spent 2 hours of my life writing this non-stop at 5 am so I apologize if they are a little out of character! Really wanted to write a detailed kissing scene with Caboose and Donut and this is what my brain came up with.
Also, I am only on Season 7 so their characters are based on how they have acted from Seasons 1-7, with a sprinkle of personal headcanons! :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

A hand.

Caboose, who had his attention strictly on the movie he and Donut were watching, broke away from the screen at the feeling of a hand atop his own. He looked over and saw it was Donut's hand, gently laying atop Cabooses' as they sat on his bed. His eyes widened and his cheeks darkened as the realisation set in.

He couldn't stop looking at his hand, and the more he looked, the more details he started to notice. The small scratches along the backside of his hand, his pink fingernails, which contrasted with the blue ones Donut painted on Caboose's hand, and the red bandaid around his middle finger after he cut it while cooking. He felt just how soft Donut's hands were, how they caressed his fingers and tickled his knuckles. He noticed the offset of the other's warm, tan skin, compared to his own cool brown skin. Caboose was barely paying attention to the movie anymore, instead completely engulfed with Donut holding his hand.

His hand.

Though his focus was interrupted by the sound of laughter. Giggling, to be precise. He looked up to see Donut's sparkling face as he giggled with delight, a red haze covering his cheeks as well. He looked up at Caboose and both their eyes met. Locked. Caboose kept looking into Donut's eyes as if he were trying to look for something he lost in them. He noticed how bright and blue they were, how they shined, even in such a pale darkness like the type they were sitting in. He could feel the warmth, the love, the passion burning off of them. He looked slightly down at Donut's lips as he smiled. His teeth almost glistened, not completely white but you could definitely tell he BRUSHED his teeth. Caboose noted the way his lips rounded over the corners of his mouth, the pretty colour of reddish-pink they were, and the way they were almost screaming out to Caboose.

The blue soldier had never kissed anybody. Perhaps he kissed his teddy bear as a child, or his parents whenever he got the chance to see them up in space, but nothing romantic. Nothing like kissing Donut. Yet, a part of him wanted to kiss Donut. No, NEEDED to kiss him. He felt his heart start to race, beating hard against his chest as his eyes kept switching their attention from the other's eyes to his lips. His mind was going a thousand miles per hour as he contemplated if he should or should not kiss the boy in front of him. What if Donut didn't want to be kissed? What if he was just holding his hand in a friend-way?

He didn't dwell on those thoughts much, as out of nowhere, Caboose blurted out, "Donut, can I kiss you?" His voice squeaked with nervousness, but he didn't look embarrassed. He meant what he said, and he needed to hear an answer. Any answer. He stared at Donut's face, watching it mold and react. His eyes widened just as Caboose's had earlier, his lips flattened from their previous smile, and Caboose felt his hand tense against his own. He noticed the discolouration on his cheeks getting redder and more vibrant, and he could see the thoughts racing past through his eyes. Caboose didn't know if he was surprised, scared, or some other third thing. Even in that brief silence, everything seemed so loud and drawn out. He hated the silence. It made him get into his head and overthink the simplest of things. He closed his eyes tight out of impulse, hoping if he didn't stare into Donut's eyes, he wouldn't think too much about the silence. He couldn't bare to stare into pupils the colour of oceans, that shimmered in the light and waved at him without even moving, or lips that looked as delicious as cupcakes, and how he could only dream of what they felt like against his own. Oh, how he urged to just smoosh their faces together and hope their lips met in the process.

Thankfully, Donut broke the silence. Not with his words or even a noise, but with a squeeze of Caboose's hand. Caboose's eyes flew open and adjusted themselves enough to see that Donut's hand never left its place atop his own, and instead, started interlocking itself between his fingers, squeezing gently to get his attention. Caboose took a second to realise this and looked back up to Donut's eyes, which were now big and filled with that love and passion he recognised before. They looked deep within Caboose's soul, touching his heart in a way no one else had and engulfing him with a feeling comparable to that of a big, warm hug. He never wanted Donut to let go. And, if his eyes didn't say enough, his voice, whispery yet comforting, maybe even nervous itself, rang into his ears, saying something that even caught Caboose off-guard.

"Please do."

It sounded even better than what he wanted to hear, with a crispness against the consonants and a smile followed afterwards. He wished he could replay that over and over again, he knew it would never get old. His hand squeezed with Donuts’, his nerves tensing up within. He didn't know how to actually kiss someone! How were you supposed to start? How long is it supposed to last? When do you get your tongue involved? He had only learned the basics of kissing from movies, tv, and catching his parents kissing when he was a kid, how was he supposed to know anything? Did Donut know how to kiss? Well, it was too late to think too hard about that now, he was committed to kissing this man. This dreamy, pretty, beautiful man in front of him.

He looked into Donut's eyes one last time, almost as a way of reassurance, and then focused on his lips. His lips looked glazed with shiny lip gloss and so tantalising, almost as if they were calling out Caboose's name. He took a deep breath and just went for it. No looking back. He leaned in until he felt his face meet Donuts', and hopefully what was his lips against the other's lips. It felt like lips, and he could feel the lip gloss smudging against him, so he just started smooching them. Thankfully, he felt them smooch back. They were lips. Thank god. He could feel one of Donut's hands squeeze against his own, as the other crept around his body, finally stopping at his head where it ran its fingers along Caboose's dark locks. They didn't stop going back and forth, kissing and pecking each other to no end. It wasn't anything like the movies, they weren't licking the insides of each other's mouths or sharing saliva, but to Caboose, it felt right. It felt like something he had never even experienced before, yet so comforting and familiar all at once. He didn't want to stop. Donut wasn't stopping. It seemed like they were both in agreeance with how they wanted to pace themselves without even a word being shared. Not too much but not too little. You could hear the sounds of their lips meeting and pulling away, along with the small groans and breaths in between. It felt so perfect.

But everything must come to an end as Donut's hand fell out from Caboose's hair and he leaned back after one last, extra-long kiss. Caboose was in a haze, overtaken by the warmth that every single kiss gave him. He was love drunk, you could say. He took a second to recover, giggling and mumbling incoherent nothings with a big dumb smile sewn across his crimson cheeks. He only snapped out from his fog when he felt something press against his chest, followed by a hot breath on his neck, which sent shivers all over his body. He looked down to see the blonde hair of his pink companion snuggled up to his pajama shirt, laughter heard muffled against Caboose's skin, which made him laugh in turn due to how much it tickled. He put a hand against Donut's hair. It felt so soft, running smoothly against his fingers as he felt through it. And it smelt amazing, like citrus and flowers and everything nice. He loved the heat Donut gave off as he curled up into Caboose's arms, both of them now laying against the pink sheets of Donut's bed, laughing in a daze of pure ecstasy. After what felt like countless minutes of nothing but the sound of their lips pressing against each other and the breaths that followed, Caboose had to speak up, clearing his throat and whispering, "That was nice." He paused, only to pick back up quickly with, " This is nice."

He felt Donut smile against him as he laughed again. "It was. It really was." He replied, his tone soft and filled with warmth as he wrapped his arms around Caboose's large figure, cuddling him into a big hug. Caboose chuckled and hugged him back, squeezing Donut against him gently. Donut screamed out with a laugh, the happiness in his laughter was too obvious. And Caboose didn't blame him. He was so happy at that moment, just having kissed his best friend (or whatever they were now) and now cuddling with him. It was all he could ever have wanted.

He let out a yawn before sneaking himself and his lover under the fuzzy blankets of Donut's bed, setting Donut next to him without letting him out of his arms. He pressed his head against the top of Donuts’ and gently kissed it, just as his Mom did to him before going to bed. He whispered against him, "Good night, Donut."

A sheepish voice replied, with a faint snicker, "Good night Caboose. Sweet Dreams."

And there they lay. Two soldiers, both on opposite teams, who were supposed to be fighting against each other, cuddling together. Two men from drastically different places, different ways of life, who happened to meet because of this war, were holding each other close in their arms. Two lovers, intertwined by fate but now undeniably united forever.

One's hand lay against the others’ as they drifted off to sleep.

Notes:

Wanted to feed the Pastry Train community with something so I hope this was worth the read! Absolutely obsessed with these two and I can't wait to finish more of RVB and see if they actually kiss or something /j
