Work Text:

Phantom was in too deep to back out now. So inexplicably down bad and unsure of how to proceed with such a realization.

He paced the living room of the ghouls' den, biting his nails as his tail swished behind him anxiously.

It all started with a “simple” conversation with Swiss at breakfast.

“Hey, Phantom, buddy!” Swiss had greeted when he entered the kitchen, “Heard you spent the night with Y/N last night, how was it? They are a real number aren’t they?” He teases the younger ghoul.

Phantom nearly chokes on his orange juice at Swiss words, not missing what the multi ghoul was implying.

“It wasn’t like that.” Phantom blushes when he recovers, “It would be wrong of me to do that to your guys and… sleep with your partner…” he struggles to get out.

Swiss tilts his head and smirks a bit, “You got the hots for them don’t you~” He teases in a singsong voice, coming up to pat the young ghoul on the shoulder. “I was in your position once too.” He adds on, sighing almost dreamily as he recalls when he first joined the band.

“What do you mean by that?” Phantom asks confused.

“Not knowing where they boundaries lied with them and the others.” Swiss shrugs nonchalantly, “When I first joined the Ghost Project I felt myself falling for them too, but they had been with the other ghouls already for some time that I felt like I was imposing on something intimate when I realized my feelings.”

“Wasn't trying to be a homewrecker you know?” He adds on, fiddling with one of his white locs. Phantom nods to him, understanding his words but confused.

“But I don’t like them like that…” Phantom trails off, awkward with his words. Swiss let’s put a loud laugh, throwing his head back and eyes closed as he practically howled.

“Yeah sure you don’t, buddy!” He continues to laugh as he pats Phantoms back. “Don’t think none of us haven’t noticed how you look at them, hell, how you even look at Aether.” Swiss adds on, his laughter calming down.

“I-I don’t look at them any differently than I do the others!” Phantom tries to defend himself.

“You get all nervous and lose confidence when they are around, you hesitate every touch, no matter how simple, worried about how we will react if we smell you on them.” Swiss explains, seeing how the young ghoul hasn’t even realized his own feelings.

“You remind me a lot of myself when I first joined. Constantly on edge and unsure what was allowed. It’s cute, you being young and in love.” He lightly teases.

“Even if I did, it’s not like there’s a chance. They probably don’t want another partner.” Phantom responds, refusing to acknowledge that maybe Swiss was right on the nose with how he felt.

Swiss let’s out a snort before responding, “Little imp is a ghoul collector, I’m sure they would love another one to love on.” He says in all seriousness.

“Besides, we are all in agreement when it comes to us pursuing you and Aurora.” He adds on with a shrug.

“You guys would be okay with it?” Phantom asks cautiously. Swiss nods.

“Yeah, I mean we are all pact animals and crave those who are close to us, it just made sense to welcome you two into the relationship if it was something y’all wanted to pursue.” Swiss explains, “No pressure though. You’re allowed to choose who all you date too. Only want Y/N and Aether, then go for it.”

Then it hit him. He was very much into you. Like a lot into you. And Aether. He loved how he could curl into you and you accepting him as he is, never hesitating to shower him in affection like you did with your other ghouls. He loved the soft way Aether would speak to him when he got anxious, always there to reassure him when he was down.

“Oh shit.” Phantom mumbles to himself in horror, before leaving the kitchen table suddenly. Swiss watches in amusement as the quintessential ghoul begins his pacing in the living room.

Leading us back to where we started. The young ghoul pacing up and down and back and forth between the kitchen and living room.

The poor guy had some of his claws nibbled down to his nail bed from how anxious he was.

“What’s wrong with Phantom?” Sunshine asks as she enters the kitchen, glancing over shoulder at the pacing ghoul.

“He just realized his feelings for Y/N and Aether.” Swiss responds, trying to hold back a laugh.

“Really?” Sunshine asks confused as she pours herself a cup of coffee, “I thought everyone knew that already?”

“That’s what I was thinking too, poor guys remind me of me when I first joined.” Swiss let’s himself chuckle this time.

“Now look at you, a cocky little shit.” Sunshine responds a teasing smile on her lips as she approaches him at the table.

“You wouldn’t have it any other way though.” Swiss responds before pressing a light kiss to her lips. Sunshine just smiles and rolls her eyes at the multi ghoul.

“Should we get Aether?” She asks instead, starting to worry about Phantom.

“Nah, we gotta let him confront them himself this time.” A moment of wisdom coming Swiss’ mouth for once.

“Well… hopefully it sorts itself out.”

“Oh I’m sure it will.”
