Chapter Text

Sitting down in your seat, bag in your lap, you glanced at the seat beside you, wondering if you wre going to have a companion for your near three hour train ride.

Even if you did, you doubted you would speak. Part of you hoped no one would sit beside you at all. But as the train cart began to fill, you had a feeling you wouldn't be so lucky.

Looking at the entry way, your eyes caught on a head of light purple hair as a tall attractive man entered the cart. You felt your breath hitch for a second as you noted just how attractive he was, almost ethereal even.

'Is that even a real person?' you thought to yourself, half-joking.

As he looked around, clearly trying to find his seat, your heart beat picked up. There was no way...right?

His eyes landed on the number above your head before he stopped and looked down. His eyes immeditely finding yours.

Your breath caught in your throat as your heart seemed to flip in your chest.

You were sure you were imagining it, but time seemed to freeze for a second as his eyes locked with yours for surely longer than necessry.

You notice that he finally smiled at you before he looked away, almost bashully as he maked his way down the aisle towards you.

You quickly looked away, feeling your face heat up. Your grip tightened on your bag as you looked out the window, trying to calm your heart.

Why did the most attractive man you've probably ever seen have to be sitting next to you? You weren't sure if you were lucky or not.

Glancing over as he opened the storage cubby above your seats, he put a bag inside before he moved to sit down. His eyes met yours again and he smiled. Unable to resit, you smiled back, a shy soft smile, but it was enough to make his heart jolt. Not that you knew that.

As Mingi moved to sit down beside you, he was trying his hardest to calm his own heavy beating heart.

When he first entered the train cart, he hadn't even thought about who he might be sat by for the long journey. He was still getting over the fact that the only flight hme he could take was cancelled, and all he wanted was to sleep his exhaustion off.

When he found his seat number and looked down, his eyes met yours and he felt like the world froze around him. You were already looking at him and he almost jumped back. You were gorgeous, and he couldn't believe he'd be sitting next to you.

Would you talk to him? Would you ignore him? Could he even sleep beside you? With his heart hammering as hard as it was as he made his way down the aisle, he really wasn't sure he'd sleep at all.

"Hey" he finally spit out as he got comfortable in his seat.

You glanced over at him and smiled shyly again "Hi" you muttered out softly, almost surprised he spoke to you, and he couldn't help but smile.

You were surprised by how deep his voice was, and it only made you more nervous.

The two of you sat in silence as you both silently watched more people make their way down the train aisle. Mingi tapped his legs softly as he spared a glance over at you. You were rifling through your bag, and he couldn't decide if he should to speak to you or not.

As the train finally began to move, Mingi suddenly felt his exhaustion return. He looked at you again and wondered where you were going.

How long would you be beside him? If he fell asleep and woke up, would you be gone? Would he have lost his chance to speak to you?

As you noticed him looking at you from the corner of your eye, you began to look over, only for him to snap his attention away from you quickly as he looked down the aisle. Obviously trying to act like he hadn't just been almost caught staring at you.

You smiled to yourself, feeling your face heat up as you pulled your book from your bag. Seeing him sit up in his seat a bit, you glanced over at the same time he looked back at you.

You felt like you got shocked as your eyes met momentarily, but both of you looked away quickly. Neither of you noticed the bashful smiles that crossed your faces.

You cursed yourself as you tried to focus on your book. Why were you suddenly so shy? What was it about this guy that made you feel like a teenager again? Was he feeling it too?

As you tried to read your book, you didn't notice that you had read the same page three times as your mind kept wandering to the stranger beside you.

Should you talk to him? You saw his ticket as he sat down, he's getting off at the same station as you. So you'd be beside him for a while. Would it be weird to remain silent the whole time? Or even weirder to force conversation?

You weren't sure how long had passed as you got so lost in your thoughts. But you were jolted out of them when you suddenly felt something heavy land on your shoulder.

You looked over quickly, almost flinching as you realized his head was on your shoulder.

"Wha-" you mumbled out before you realized he was dead asleep.

You froze and your breath caught for a moment before, you gently leaned forwad to get a view of his face. Your stomach fluttered as you saw his face was peacful as his eyes were tightly shut. He must have been exhausted.

Catching yourself staring you looked up and around, before you leaned back slowly.

'What should I do? Should I wake him? Or move his head?'

As you worried about what the right move might be, you noted an old woman walking down the aisle was staring at you with a bright smile.

As she shuffled past she waved her hand softly and whispered "Had a long weekened did he?"

You smiled "I would assume so."

"You two remind me of my son and his partner"

"Oh, do we?" You chuckle out, uncertain if you should tell her he's a stranger.

She grinned "You make such a cute couple"

"Oh-" you were going to correct her but smiled instead, deciding it might become a bit awkward "Thank you"

She grinned again before she continued down the aisle, you let out a soft breathy laugh before looking back down at the stranger. After admiring him for a moment, you decided you didn't want to wake him. He'd probably move his head on his own, it was best to let him be.

Stealing another glance at him, which would turn into one of many, you smiled softly before you returned your attention back to your book.

---------------------------------------------

As Mingi slowly started to wake up, he couldn't place where he was. His neck was a bit cramped as he opened his eyes, the light causing him to flinch a bit.

Seeing the seat in front of him, he quickly remembered he was on the train. He must have fallen asleep pretty quickly after leaving the station since he didn't recall much. Looking down at himself, he noticed an unfamiliar jacket draped over him and he frowned.

Slowly sitting up he looked over to see what he had been lounging against, his heart jumped when he saw that he had fallen asleep on you.

Looking up, his eyes met yours and he froze, his heart leaping to his throat.

You smiled at him after a moment "Sleep well?"

He jolted up the rest of the way, suddenly very awake. You let out a soft giggle, as you saw mortification cross his features.

"I fell asleep on you." He stated, before he cringed and put his hand over his face.

You let out a soft chuckle, and Mingi almost hated how cute it sounded "Yes, yes you did, but it's okay. You must have been very tired."

He peaked at you through his fingers before he sighed "Yeah, I was." he let out a soft awkward chuckle "I'm sorry."

You smiled softly at him and shook your head "It's alright, I promise. I'm just happy I'm apparently that comfortable."

Mingi's smile turned into a grin as he cleared his throat and sat back in his seat again. Looking down he grabbed the jacket on his lap.

"Oh, that's mine." he looked up at you with a soft bewilderment and you smiled shyly "You started to shiver a bit when the air cooling turned on, so...I put it over you. I hope you dont mind."

He grinned at you and you felt your heart flip as your ears burned.

"You're too nice." He said softly as he gently folded your jacket up and handed it back to you "Thank you."

You smiled and took the jacket as Mingi stared at you. Clearing his throat lightly he turned a bit to face you "How long was I asleep?"

"Uh, maybe two hours?"

His eyes widened a bit "Two hours?!"

"Yeah why?"

"You let me sleep on you that long? Is yours shoulder not dead?" He asked as he turned fully towards you now.

You were surprised at the suddden amount of energy, but you laughed "My shoulder will live. I would have felt bad for waking you up anyways."

He leaned his head against the seat but stared at you "You should have. I'm sorry."

Your heart pouded from the way he looked at you, but you chuckled and shook your head. Mingi felt his chest tighten.

"I'm Mingi by the way."

You looked back over at him and smiled "Y/n."

He grinned "It's nice to meet you Y/n."

"You too Mingi"

As his name left your mouth he felt his heart flip. Before he could speak again, his attention was stolen as someone stopped beside him. He noted the way your eyes lit up in recognition as the old woman grinned down at the two of you.

The train began to slow, and you assumed it was the old womans stop. You glanced at Mingi as he looked bewildered at the old woman.

She gently patted his shoulder "You've got a sweet one there." she said as she gestured at you.

Mingi blinked as he looked over at you as the woman left.

You met his eyes and let out an awkward chuckle "She uh, came by before, when you were asleep, and thought we were a couple. Apparently we reminded her of her son and his partner."

"Oh" Mingi muttered softly before he chuckled, the butterflies in his stomach not going unnoticed by him.

After a bit more casual conversation, Mingi nervously played with his fingers before he looked over at you "Can I ask where your stop is?"

You smiled as you grabbed your ticket from the table in front of you and showed it to him. His heart skipped as he saw you were getting off at the same stop as him.

"That's where I'm getting off at!" He said with a bit more excitement than he meant but you smiled brightly. "Do you live around there?"

You nodded "Yeah."

His smile only widened, which you hardly thought possible, but you couldn't help your own smile widening at his reaction.

"So do I."

Hearing an announcement ring out over the speaker, Mingi frowned as it was announced your stop was in less than twenty minutes.

Looking back over at you his frown was still present on his face "I wish I hadn't slept so long" he admitted.

You frowned a bit "Why?"

His heart was hammering in his chest, but he let his determination win over his fear "Twenty minues isn't very long. I wanted to talk to you more."

Your chest tightened as your breath caught for a moment, your neck and ears burning hot. Mustering up what courage you could find , you smiled at him.

"You still could."

His eyes widened slightly as a grin spread acros his face, he turned to face you fully.

"I was hoping you'd say that" he said with a chuckle.

Laughing in response you felt as though your heart melted on the spot. You looked down at your hands nevously, though you could feel his eyes were still glued on you.

---------------------------------------------

As you and Mingi stepped off the train and onto the platform, you walked away from the crowd before you slowed.

"I'm going this way" you motioned to the far side of the station as Mingi frowned, looking the opposite way as he glanced at his phone to see where his driver was.

"I'm not."

"Then this is goodbye I gues." you saw a frown cross his face and you quickly added on "For now. I hope."

A smile appeared on his face as he nodded frevently "Yeah. Just for now. I'll text you later, and, maybe we could meet up soon?"

You nodded in return "Yeah, definitely."

He grinned and nodded as he repressed a shy chuckle.

Taking a step back, though reluctantly, you nodded your head "Bye Mingi."

He smiled as he waved ligthly at you "Bye Y/n."

Turning, you headed down the station before looking back once more. Finding him still watching you with a fond smile, you grinned as your heart somersalted. You waved once more at him, which was met with a big full arm wave and bright grin back.

As you disappeared around the corner, Mingi lowered his arm and let out a sigh. Feeling his phone in his pocket he resisted the urge to text you immedietly.

How had he become to attached, and so whipped for someone he knew less than a few hours? Thinking back on how he felt when he first saw you, and how your meer presence made him feel, he took in a deep breath. Was this what was meant by love at first sight?

Shaking his head as he let out a chuckle at the thought, he turned and headed down the train station. Even as he brushed the thought away, he would find it wandering back more often than not.

Love at first sight or not, he couldn't help but now be grateul that his flght had been cancelled.
