Hiccup

Summary:

Ava is helping Beatrice to get rid of her hiccups :)

Notes:

Hi. This is my first fanfiction ever and I'm nervous. I'm not a writer really and english is not my first language so be kind.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It's been a long time since they came to Switzerland. Ava doesn't know how long, but Beatrice probably does. She keeps tracks of everything.

Today is hot. Too hot even. Ava is sweating just from walking home while making mental notes to bring her bathing suit with her on training.

She unlocks the door and is suprised to see Beatrice with lemon in her mouth making sour face.

"Hey, umm- what are we doing here?" asks Ava with confusion written all over her face.
"I'm trying to, 'hiccup' , I'm trying to stop this hiccups for entire morning."

"Hmm, interesting. " Ava says amused by this situation. "Did you try drinking water? Or maybe holding your breath?"
'hiccup'
"Yes, tried both of it. I even watched that silly reality show you watch 'hiccup' every other night to try to distract myself and nothing works." She said. "And now we have to go to training and i can't seem to, 'hiccup' , to stop."

Beatrice really does look sad and annoyed with whole hiccup situation and Ava is trying not to laugh but failling quite miserably.

"Are you laughing at me?" Beatrice asks.
'hiccup'
"No, why would I? Okay, maybe a little, but can you blame me? You look cure when you're annoyed."

Okay, maybe Ava shouldn't have said that because Beatrice freezed for a second.
'hiccup'
"Nevermind, I thought if I said something suprising it would, you know, stop." Nice one Ava Silva.

"Maybe we can try something else later but now we must go." Beatrice said not buying Ava's excuse for calling her cute.

When they arrived they fell into routine. After running, stretching and strenght exercises would come Avas favourite activity. Sparring with Beatrice.

At this point Ava was mirroring every move Beatrice tought her. And even then she still couldn't beat Beatrice. She looks like she could go for another 10 rounds of sparring without breaking a sweat.

But today is a little different and Ava is using it to her advantage. She is waiting for hiccup to lift Beatrice from her combat stance. And when it happened, with the little help from her Halo friend, Ava was quick to grab her by her legs and throw her in the water. She hoped it would shock Beatrice enough to stop hiccuping.

"Ava, why would you do that?" Beatrice now seemed angry and Ava was scared for her life.
"I thought maybe the shock from the water would help." She put her best hopefull smile. "Did it help?"

They were watching each other for a minute, Beatrice sitting in lake and Ava standing in front of her. And just when Beatrice started to put on tiny smile on her face, hiccup came back and her face went back to frowning.

"It's okay Ava, thank you for trying." Beatrice said. She looked like she made peace with her hiccups.

"We'll figure it out. Do you want to swim with me since it is nice day? Or do you want to get your frustrations out by beating my ass?" Ava asked ever thoughtfull of Beatrice.

She helped Beatrice get out of the water and then Beatrice indeed kicked her ass but they also went for a swim. It's a win-win.

While going back Ava has thought about helping Beatrice. She even tried to scare her back at the lake but Beatrice is far more observant of her surrounding so she saw her coming.

That's when she got one crazy thought. So crazy even Ava wouldn't pursue it.

"What are you thinking about?" Beatrice asked since Ava's been unnusually quiet.
Ava looked at her puzzled, "I am thinking of one way to try to get rid of it, but it's probably not so smart."
"What is not smart?"
'hiccup'
"Nothing, stupid idea." Ava is getting nervous now.
"It is not stupid if it helps. Why won't you ,hiccup, why won't you tell me?" Beatrice pressed.

They are standing near their bed since they were getting ready for sleep. Beatrice won't drop it and Ava is not doing good under pressure. Espacially Beatrice's pressure.

"I told you, it's stupid and you wouldn't like it."
"How do you know that?" Beatrice tried to look in Ava's eyes but she is looking at the carpet stain like her life depends on it. "Okay, suit yourself. Im sorry if you can't sleep tonight 'hiccup' because of me." Beatrice sounded sincere.

Just when she was about to to move Ava stepped forward and took her head and kissed her so sudden and so hard. Beatrice couldn't even react, she just stood there.

After few seconds that seemed like eternity for Beatrice, Ava took step backwards, looking shy and awkward.

"I- , What was that?" Beatrice still didn't grasped what happened.
"I'm so- , I'm sorry. I told you, you wouldn't like it. I shouldn't done it." She cried. "I just- , I'm sorry."

There were tears in her eyes and Ava was scared she ruined everything by being impatient and Beatrice wasn't ready.

"It's fine Ava honestly," Beatrice said softly, "and I've told you to do it. So if it's anyone's fault it's mine."

"Did it at least helped?" Ava is only now looking at Beatrice. Hoping she didn't embarrassed herself for nothing.

"Hmmm, I think it did help." There was a smile on Beatrice's face finally. "Thank you for that."
"Any time." Ava smiled because Beatrice rolled her eyes at that. She let out breath of relief.

They lied down in comfortable silence. Darkness took over their room and that was the time for them to forget everything and just be.

Beatrice already gave in Ava's need to touch at all times so now when they go to bed, Ava tries to subtly hug her and Beatrice doesn't freeze, she gives in. And just when they are slowly falling asleep- 'hiccup' .
