Chapter Text

•01 - REUNIONS

Trudging through the woods at 6 o’clock in the morning truly wasn’t what Charlotte Turner envisioned her last week of summer starting off with. The leaves she was stepping on crunched underneath her feet and the light cool breeze was hitting her face blowing her hair back into her eyes

Being up so early made the two Hufflepuffs more prone to bickering.

Despite the fact that Cedric Diggory claimed he was a morning.

Being best friends with him for the past six years Charlie truly knew that wasn’t true in the slightest.

"I'm just excited that I am finally finished with potions" Charlotte explained.

"I don't see why you wouldn't just suck it up for the two years when you're guaranteed to get an outstanding" Cedric said while rolling his eyes.

"Having to deal with Snape would truly set me over the edge aswell as there being a chance you could be in my class, that would just about finish me off"

"Would you go away you literally had a fit in third year when we weren't put in the same the same Charms"

"Did not" Charlie screeched.

"Did too" he challenged back.

"You'd swear the two of you have never walked a day in your life by the pace you're going at" they heard Amos Diggory say from a distance ahead, interrupting them from their childish fight.

They both quickened their steps while chucking to each other. Charlie practically running to keep up with Cedric's strides.

"How far away are we Mr Diggory" she questioned.

" Only five minutes Charlie dear not even. " Amos replied not looking up from his map while doing so.

"It's been only five minutes for the past fifty miles, hasn't it Charlie dear" she heard Cedric mutter under his breath from directly in front of her.

She snorted before stepping on his heels and poking his back while pushing him forward.

"Quicken that pace now you little drama queen. "

"How about you add a bit of a pep into that step of yours Char" he said kicking the leaves he was standing on back onto to her.

Charlie currently had a bit of a love-hate relationship with quidditch but she truly was hopeful for today.

Spending the day with her best friend as well as a father figure who she looked up to greatly she felt as if nothing could go wrong.

Surely.

"The rest of them should be here any minute now and then we can get heading, now I know you have your money on Bulgaria my boy but I must say I agree with Charlotte I think Ireland has this one"

"I fully agree Mr Diggory" she said looking smugly at her friend.

"Speaking of quidditch" Cedric cut in sharply.

"Wait what do you mean the rest of them" she enquired.

"The Weasleys of course, I thought Cedric would have told you "

"Must have slipped my mind" he said guiltily.

Not only did Charlie's heard start beating an extra hundred beats a minute. But it also felt as if her legs were going to give out from underneath her.

Being trapped in the woods Charlie could only think of one way to escape the impending torture.

She briskly walked over to a maple tree near her, wrapped her arm around a sturdy branch and started to hoist herself up.

"What are you doing Char ?" Cedric said.

"Just realized I have to stay in shape for all the quidditch we will be playing this year, especially after my year off" she practically spat back.

"You're so right " he said going to follow her.

"No only for Chasers sorry"

"I'm sure it will benefit our teams seeker aswell"

"Piss off" she whispered down at him nearly half way up the tree.

"Be careful kids" she heard Amos uninterestedly say below while examining a birds nest in the Elm tree across.

Once both were settled comfortably in the tree above and after plenty of temptations to push the boy beside her off said tree but ultimately deciding it wouldn't be very Hufflepuff of her, Charlie decided to make sure Cedric would understand how much this enraged her.

"Slipped your mind huh?" she said while picking at the dense green leaf beside her.

" I didn't think you'd come in the first place let alone if you knew he was going to be here , but I promise we're only taking the Portkey with them then you won't have to see him for the rest of the day"

Charlie blinked back at him digesting the information give to her. She truly couldn't have expected this but she understood where Cedric was coming from.

She wouldn't have come if she knew.

"I truly am sorry but please, don't let this ruin your day Charlie " he pleaded.

The pair just stared at each other. Cedric awaiting some sort of reaction, Charlie trying to muster up some words despite the feeling of the sickly bile rising to her throat.

"You're a total prat you know that right." her lips upturning into a smirk.

"We better head down looks like they're on their way" he said pointing at the sea of ginger hair briskly approaching.

"This is Amos Diggory, everyone. Works with me at the Ministry." Charlie could hear Arthur Weasley say from below.

Cedric jumped down from the tree and landed perfectly beside his father.

"And this strapping young lad must be Cedric, am I right?" Arthur guesses, shaking his hand firmly.

"Yes, sir," Cedric laughs slightly, smiling at all of the group.

A second later Charlie hops down from the branch above landing beside her best friend.

"And this is Charlotte Turner a good friend of my Cedric's "

"I believe I knew your father he was a great man" Arthur Weasley stated while shaking Charlie's hand.

She smiled back at him. Before turning her attention to the other people present. She saw nothing but familiar faces around her and fortunately couldn't see the one she was dreading the most. She waved at Hermione and Ginny before turning back to talk to Cedric.

In his place was no one other that George Weasley. Which brought a slight smile to her face.

"Well hello Charlotte" he said while nudging her ribs.

While looking up at him she realized where ever George Weasley goes Fred Weasley himself is always near.

She heard a cough coming from behind her. Realizing it couldn't be Cedric as she saw him in the distance with his father and Arthur. Charlie truly hesitated in turning around. Approximately two seconds later another louder, more annoying cough could be heard.

After turning around she unfortunately was greeted with a knowing smirk and twinkling eyes.

Fred Weasley as dramatic as ever.

"Hello Lottie"'
