Work Text:
Shiraishi had agreed to accompany Kubo after school. She had gushed about a new crepe stand that had opened in the area, and insisted that he go with her to try it out. Shiraishi was a little confused about why she wasn’t taking one of her friends, but he didn’t protest. He was always happy to spend time with Kubo.
When school ended, he followed her out of the gates as she chatted happily about what types of crepe she hoped the stand would have. As they walked, they steadily went into a more populated area, and the amount of people walking on the street around them increased. Shiraishi noticed that a lot of them were girls wearing school uniforms. He assumed that they were here for the same mission. He marveled at the determination of girls when sugar was involved.
It was even easier to notice when they got into the district where the crepe stall was. The traffic on the streets grew congested, and Shiraishi saw the end of the line before he saw the crepe stall. As Kubo was scanning the crowd for the best place to access the line, a group of girls got in between them. Frantically, Shiraishi tried to look around for Kubo. He knew that the chances of someone being able to find him in such a crowd were small at best, and therefore had been trying to not lose sight of Kubo. He shifted back and forth, unsure which way to go around the group.
As he was starting to panic, he felt a hand on his elbow. He turned to see Kubo smiling at him, a faint blush on her cheeks.
“Don’t fall behind here, Shiraishi. It will be hard to find each other again if we get lost.” The smile widened. “Of course, I would find you. But it might take longer than normal with so many people around, and then they might sell out of the chocolate flavors of crepe! Now come on!” Pulling him along gently by the arm, Kubo skirted around the group of girls in their way and made for the end of the line. Shiraishi ducked his head to hide his own spreading blush. He wasn’t sure if he would ever get used to Kubo’s attention.
