Chapter Text
Peaceful was the only word to describe her mind state right now- earth, as known by her inhabitants; or Kaede as of the galatical space she lived in.
It was just another, quiet and ordinary day. Lonely as can be. Pink eyes gazing upon moonlight streams, and emerald fields adorned by flowering jewels of light.
And alone. As always.
It’s not like she’s not used to this, humans passing through her body as if it was a ghastly presence upon her visage. Unable to hear, unable to see, unable to know.
But she knew she was growing weaker by the minute. For every tree- for every flower, for every animal and every being-
It hurt.
And she had the option- the option she knew she had. The option to kill every last being and save herself. But did she want that? Did she desire to really... End them all? No. She loved these humans, even if they didn’t love her enough to heal her or to keep her safe.
She loved them. Even if they were killing her.
The long locks of blond hair coursed through her walk as she observed humans playing- young ones. The ones that can barely form words. Yes, those young ones, the ones that were fascinated by her, the ones that could almost see her, the ones that plucked her flowers but enjoyed them, the ones that took but loved, and not the ones that took just for taking. Sitting down, watching the small beings play, play with the flowers they had picked, as if they beautiful princesses in floral gowns, dancing and playing, their joyful laughs almost made her forget, forget the truth of their vigorous greed. They were innocent, unknowing of the truth, unknowing of mortality.
Even as they played and ran off when the sun was starting it’s cruise away. The sun- you’d expect to have a being or a face to keep her company. But no- they left ages ago, when humans came around. Indicating... If humans didn’t kill her, the sun’s burst at lack of control would.
So...
It was inevitable. And she knew her life would be lonely for as long as it extended. She could manage that. Sacrificing this life that should be immortalized, for beings that had no clue what they were doing. Beings that didn’t deserve to die. Beings that didn’t know what they were doing was wrong.
They didn’t know...
And never would... Right?
This was the price she would pay for them, but not that it mattered whatsoever to her. What mattered was protecting them.
Her life was meant to be lonely, and she knew it. She had already prepared, she already knew what she was getting into... But oh... How difficult it was to keep that mind. How difficult it was to remain in constant loneliness.
But...
Each time she looked at those humans... She knew there was a life worth saving. They deserved to be happy, she knew she deserved to be happy too. But that was of no concern to her. Her true memory would linger in the happiness of these humans- and all she was able to give to them. Even if there was no recompense.
And she expected none, just as she expected the loneliness.
One fateful night, gazing at the stars from her lonely terrain, she still could not comprehend why.
Why was she to be alone? It had only been told to her when she was made to take a decision, it was a warning that no one would speak to her, and that no one would be able to talk to her either. That she would be alone. Completely alone.
But why did it have to be that way?
She didn’t know. Nor would she know. The question only occured to her as she watched the stars play, smiling gently as she held her knees to her chest.
“Must be nice...” she mused, even if she wasn’t part of that fun, and once they seemed to catch glimpse of her they shifted away, not that she had expected otherwise, it seemed strange it took them that long to catch that glimpse of longing care.
Although, that fateful night, the cosmos began to move, and stir. As if taking form of someone. Someone... To earth?
The thought slightly frightened her, though.
«Why did they say no one should talk to me? Maybe that being would explode... Or worse; my humans! Oh... And maybe myself, I guess...»
To which, Kaede rose to her feet, the long locks of blonde hair shimmering behind her as she rushed behind a tree, the light pink dress fluttering with her movements as she hid, the swarming locks of hair following suit as her pink eyes; hidden by her eyelids remained shut, shuddering a bit as the light grew brighter, and brighter.
“Hello? Is anyone there?”
A voice.
One that wasn’t even her own. A deeper, strangely coaxing voice, it almost made her want to look. But she knew she probably shouldn’t.
“Is... Is this earth? Please, I just- I want to know who you are, if you’re here, that is...?”
The voice seemed to want to plead a bit more to try and get her to speak. But she didn’t know. Was it safe? Was it really okay?
Well...
Only one way to find out.
Remaining hidden, she took a breath before combing a bit of her hair into neat arrays, “Yes... This is earth.”
Her eyes squeezed shut as she prepared for whatever happened next...
Nothing did.
«Maybe they need to see me before they actually have the possible effect they never told me about to happen...»
“Oh wow! That’s great! So... This is ‘earth...’ what’s your name? Can I see you? Or are you like... Invisible? After yknow... Being here for so long?”
“... I’m not invisible, but you shouldn’t talk to me. Really, it’s not safe. You should go...” her own voice, even if it wasn’t but a few minutes that she hadn’y used it, had still startled her, “It’s not safe down here.”
“If it’s not safe... Why are you here?”
“It just isn’t... Please, you could get hurt- my humans... Something could happen to my humans.”
“Woah- hey, calm down. Nothing crazy like that is going to happen. Can I... Please see you?”
The voice sounded...a bit concerned, why did it want to see her, anyway?
“Are you sure nothing will happen to them?” she could even feel the own defensive tone in her voice... Defensive for those lives.
“Positive!”
The voice laughed out in a hearty chuckle, as it spoke...
Slowly, but surely she rose to her feet once more. She wasn’t sure why she had trusted him. But she did, and slowly, she walked out, catching a glimpse of the tall, broad stranger. She almost wanted to gasp... He was- well... He was... So handsome. Well, yeah... Conventionally attractive, or whatever. A strong build, purple hair, purple eyes, a dangling moon and a dangling sun earring, and just above his goatee, a star piercing...probably a diamond, and it was as if his body was adorned with the galaxy, a long cape with a moving galaxy shining in the darkness along with a sliver-gold armor on his chest, and both his wrists adorned with gold and silver. He looked a bit like the Romans did a couple of centuries ago. But she felt herself growing uneasy.
“What are your intentions?...”
