Jimin couldn’t help that he had a crush on his neighbour.
Jeon Jungkook was good looking. With tattoos that trailed up his arm and unruly hair, he never failed to make Jimin stare.
He was always nice to Jimin, he never asked him where his Alpha was when his stomach began to grow, and he always offered to carry his groceries for him whenever he saw him struggling.
Jimin thought that maybe his omega instincts were searching for a good Alpha to care for his growing pup, and that was why he couldn’t help is attraction to his neighbour. He couldn’t help but feel guilty for his pup. He didn’t want the pup to grow up without an Alpha to teach them. He worried every day that if his pup was an alpha, he would fail to raise them to be strong and respectful. He couldn’t even pick a good one himself.
When Jimin had fallen pregnant it had been due to a one-night stand. He was stressed endlessly from working on his shows, and his body was so tense and wound up. He couldn’t resist the urge to let go and relax. But when he realised he was pregnant he contacted the Alpha to let him know, but the Alpha wanted nothing at all to do with him or his child. He only said he would pay for an abortion if he wanted one.
Jimin would lie if he said he didn’t consider it, but his instincts were eating at him and he did want a pup. He had for years.
So, he had begun renting a two-bedroom apartment, and was diligently preparing for his pup that was due to arrive in four months.
Jeon Jungkook had moved in only a few days after Jimin, and the Omega only grew more flustered when recalling their first meeting.
He had just arrived home from grocery shopping and was so badly craving cookies and cream ice-cream that he had opened the tub on his way back, and proceeded to voraciously gobbe it up. His eyes were down, focused on the ice-cream tub when he suddenly bumped into a hard object.
He immediately stumbled back, only to have the hard object grab his waist and steady him. But it was too late, his ice-cream had already fallen and was face down on the floor. And Jimin was mortified to find himself tearing up slightly, his lips forming an inevitable pout. Stupid pregnancy hormones.
“Ah fuck, I’m so sorry.”
It was only then that Jimin realised he was in the arms of an Alpha with an intoxicating scent, who was staring down at him with wide eyes.
Jimin had jumped a little, and bowed repeatedly, “God, I’m so sorry, I wasn’t looking.”
“That’s alright, it was my fault. Sorry about your ice-cream.”
Jimin couldn’t help but sniff slightly at the Alpha, a rich chocolate orange with a hint of vanilla permeated his senses. It made Jimin want to roll around in his scent. It didn’t help that his hands were still wrapped around his waist.
“Ah, it’s okay, just silly pregnancy hormones,” Jimin reassured.
Jungkook had released his arms from around the omega, not wanting to overstep any boundaries. He looked down at Jimin, his nostrils flaring as he took in the scent of the omega. He smelt like sticky date pudding, layered with the milky smell of pregnancy.
“I actually have an un-opened tub of the same flavour in my freezer, if you want it?”
“I couldn’t possibly, it’s okay, really.” Jimin replied.
“Nonsense, I’ll grab it for you. Wait here.”
Jimin placed his grocery bag down on the ground and waited. Jungkook was prompt, Jimin only left waiting a few seconds before the Alpha returned.
“Here. Sorry again, I’m not normally so out-of-it,” Jungkook said.
Jimin shook his head and smiled, “It’s okay, really. Thank you.”
Jungkook couldn’t help the flutter of his chest at the Omega’s smile, his Alpha buzzing around.
“I better go, have to put my things away. I’m Jimin, by the way.” Jimin said, still smiling.
“Ah of course, sorry to keep you. I’m Jungkook.” Jungkook replied sheepishly.
Jimin only nodded softly as he picked up his bag and made his way past the Alpha.
Jungkook smacked himself when the Omega was out of site. Stupid, stupid, idiot. Almost toppling over a pregnant Omega, how much worse could he get?
Jimin’s scent was absolutely delicious, and his Alpha was going haywire now the Omega was out of site. He took a deep breath, and shook his hormones off.
Jimin didn’t know what was wrong with him but in the days following his interaction with Jungkook he couldn’t help but seek out the Alpha’s scent through their communal wall, and his omega had whined when he failed to smell him.
His nest had suddenly got a lot larger. The soft blankets and pillows arranged in a format designed for two people and not one. He put it down to the fact that he was preparing for his pup but there was a slight ache in his chest when he thought about sharing his nest.
If he was honest, Jimin craved the physical affection an alpha could provide. The scenting, and cuddling, he wished to burrow into an alpha’s chest and feel safe and secure, as if nothing could ever hurt him or his pup.
He had only been scented by his friends, as the act was considered intimate and special, not something he would have done with an occasional fling. But he had read endlessly in books about the fulfilling feeling it provided, how it could warm one’s heart and calm the soul.
But he couldn’t think so selfishly when he had to think about his pup. He couldn’t attach his pup to an alpha’s scent only to remove it from them when he gave birth. He knew he would never be so lucky to find an Alpha who would want him when he had a baby.
He found himself hoping he would see Jungkook again, the delusion in him due to the Alpha’s kind act making him seek out his chocolate-orange scent.
In his yearning he thought that maybe he could go to the shops, to distract himself and buy something for his baby. He had saved money from his performances and classes, and he was due to finish teaching baby ballet and senior contemporary classes in a month.
He had arrived and was looking through the baby clothes when his back began to ache. But he was having so much fun and didn’t want to leave so soon after he had arrived.
He held up a little yellow jumpsuit with daffodils on it and couldn’t help but picture his young pup waddling along in it. He bought the jumpsuit and decided it was time to head home, his back ache only worsening.
Jimin mentally punched himself for so poorly timing his visit to the shops in alignment with rush hour, the bus he was on was packed, slimy bodies all pushed up against one another. It didn’t help that he hated being touched while pregnant. Foreign hands rubbing all over his stomach made him gag, and the overwhelming array of scents did nothing to soothe him.
He tried to eye some people sitting down, to see if they would give up their seat for him but nobody did.
The bus halted suddenly, and his shopping bag dropped from his hands, the little yellow jumpsuit falling out onto the bus floor.
Jimin tried to bend down to grab it but his back ached and winced at the pain.
“Sorry to bother you, would you mind just picking that up for me?”
The man in front of him only raised his elbow, staring at his un-marked neck and frowning. He walked away from Jimin, leaving the contents of the bag strewn across the floor.
Jimin could feel himself start to tear up. He slowly bent down and kneeled on the bus floor, packing the yellow jump suit away, and holding onto the rail to stand up.
But all the scents surrounding him overwhelmed him. The various strong alpha scents made him feel unsafe and unsure of himself. What was he even doing? It was stupid to go shopping in the first place. How could he be a good mother if he couldn’t even take care of himself?
He felt a big shot of pain run up his back and he knew he couldn’t take it any longer. He pushed his way through the crowd and made his way off the bus.
As soon as he got off, he felt a tear role down his cheek. He sat down on the bench behind him and tried to figure out how he was going to get home. The next bus wasn’t for another hour.
He had been working on getting his driver’s license so he could drive his pup around, but he needed lessons and they weren’t cheap. He contemplated calling his co-worker Minseong but he didn’t want to annoy him.
He searched through his contacts and came upon Jungkook. The Alpha had slid it underneath his door and told him to call him if he ever had an emergency or needed anything.
Jimin didn’t really think it was an emergency, but he didn’t know what else to do. The pains continued to shoot up his back, and it was slowly getting colder.
He took a deep breath and hit the call button. It rang twice before he heard a response.
“Jimin, are you alright?” The Alpha’s raspy voice responded in a concerned tone and Jimin felt guilty for interrupting him.
“Uhm, sort of. I really don’t want to be annoying and I’m so sorry but I had to get off the bus because it was too crowded and my back was really sore, and there were too many scents. I um, I don’t want to trouble you but are you able to come and pick me up? I’m not too far from the apartments but I can’t walk because of my back-“
“Jimin, its fine darling. It must have been very stressful and overwhelming, hm?”
Jimin felt his heart flutter at the Alpha’s words, finally relaxed. The tension slowly releasing from his body.
“Send me your location, I’ll be there soon.”
Jimin waited patiently for the Alpha, his lower lip still wobbling.
When Jungkook pulled up next to Jimin, he exited the car and stood in front of the trembling Omega.
“You alright?”
Jimin only nodded as he stood up, “I’m really sorr-“
“Jimin, it’s okay, we all need help sometimes,” Jungkook reassured.
The Omega nodded, but his lower lip was still trembling, and the Alpha noted the wet streak down his cheek.
“Do you want a hug?” Jungkook asked.
Jimin didn’t know how Jungkook had read his mind. Maybe it was a little weird to be hugging an Alpha you didn’t know very well but his scent was so comforting, and he couldn’t think of anything he wanted more.
Jungkook wrapped his arms around Jimin and let the Omega lay his head on his chest. He slowly rubbed his hand up and down the Omega’s back, being careful not press too harshly.
“Let’s get you home.”
The ride home was warm and comfortable, and Jimin loved being able to sit down. Jungkook’s car had heated seats and the warmth against his back was blissful.
“Your back doing okay?” Jungkook asked.
“Yeah, my pup is a little bit bigger than average, so it hurts my back a bit.”
Jungkook nodded. “Let me know if you need anything, lifting things or another ride.”
Jimin looked at the Alpha and saw nothing but sincerity. It was rare that anyone was so nice to him. Being a pregnant unmated omega was not easy. He felt a blush creep up his cheeks. He knew it was stupid to feel bashful at such a small amount of kindness, but it meant a lot to Jimin that Jungkook was willing to help him.
“Thank you, it means a lot.”
“It’s the least I can do.”
When the two arrived at their apartments Jungkook waited for Jimin to enter his and wished the Omega good night. Jimin reciprocated, thanking the Alpha for his kindness once again.
Jimin slept so peacefully that night. The usual tossing and turning and struggling to find a comfortable spot with his belly, disappeared. The scent of Jungkook swirling around him satiated his omega and he got the best sleep he had in months.
Jimin and Jungkook continued to have small little interactions every so often, and the Omega’s crush only grew larger.
It was hard for him. As his stomach grew his hormones were all over the place, and his omega grew frantic worrying about how the pup would grow and where his Alpha was. There was an ache in his heart at the thought of an Alpha, a father for the pup to grow up with. He began to doubt himself more often, and he found himself getting increasingly overwhelmed as his due date approached.
He was frantically preparing for the pup. Attaching soft patches onto hard corners, making sure he kept all his knives in draws and not out on the bench.
He was excited of course; he couldn’t wait to meet his pup and he knew he would love them unconditionally. But the thought of having to do it all alone made him only grow more anxious.
His instincts kept telling him to go and seek out Jungkook, offer him a slice of his apple pie, or maybe he would like rhubarb more?
One night, when Jimin was feeling particularly upset and insecure he heard a knock on the door.
“Jimin, you alright? I brought you some food.”
Jimin was surprised to hear Jungkook’s voice. He wrapped his fluffy blanket around his shoulders and made his way toward the door.
He opened the door and watched as the Alpha scanned him, a gleam of fierceness in his eyes.
“Are you okay? I could smell your scent souring.”
Jimin hadn’t known that his scent ever got strong enough for Jungkook to be able to smell it through the wall, and he felt a red tinge cover his cheeks as he drowned in embarrassment.
“Oh gosh, I-I’m sorry I didn’t know you could smell me through the walls,” Jimin looked down at his feet, fidgeting his toes to try and make the awkwardness disappear.
“Can I come in? I brought kimchi-jjigae.”
The omega nodded. He moved aside letting the Alpha in.
“You didn’t have to,” Jimin said.
“Nonsense, it’s no trouble at all.”
The two ate in comfortable silence, making small comments here and there. Jungkook’s scent was slowly helping to calm Jimin down, and his Omega was subdued.
“Are you sure you are doing okay?”
Jungkook had noticed that the Omega rarely left the building lately, and he could hear Jimin fiddling around in the night. The thin walls of the apartment left nothing unheard. It was only recently however that the Alpha grew increasingly concerned, when he began to smell Jimin’s upset scent fairly regularly.
Jimin nodded, “Yeah, I’m okay. It’s just getting a bit difficult now I’m closer to when the pup is coming.”
“Do you have anyone helping you?”
Jungkook knew the question could sound somewhat invasive, but he truly wasn’t trying to hint towards an Alpha, only a friend or family that could help him.
But the Omega only shook his head gesturing a ‘no’, and the Alpha knew he had messed up when Jimin’s lower lip shook, a tear rolling down his cheek.
“Aish Jimin, I’m sorry. That was insensitive of me.”
“N-no, it’s okay. It’s a fair question. I’m just sensitive,” Jimin replied.
“No, you’re not being sensitive. You are perfectly able to have a pup on your own. I was just wondering. If you want any help or need anything let me know, I’d be happy to help. My mother was a single mother, I know it can be difficult.”
Jungkook let his finger catch the tear that was about to fall off of Jimin’s chin before softly turning the Omega’s head towards him.
“You’re doing well, Jimin.”
“I-it doesn’t feel like it. My omega is so anxious, and I don’t know how to calm down.” Jimin gulped.
Jungkook allowed himself to softly fondle the Omega’s soft jawline, and Jimin couldn’t resist leaning into the Alpha’s warm hand.
“Do you have anyone scenting you?”
“No, what would that do?”
“It’s actually quite important for pregnant Omegas to be scented, helps them release their feelings and emotions whilst stabilising them. It’s not necessary per se, but it definitely helps. It can make the pregnancy less stressful for Omegas to have someone to lean on for emotional release.”
Jimin listened to Jungkook carefully, he wish he did have someone to scent him but he didn’t have many friends in Seoul yet, and he had been so absent recently.
A small slither of hope arose in Jimin, he knew the answer would most likely be ‘no’ but it was worth a try right?
“W-would you ever scent me?”
The Omega’s face was almost tomato-red. He had never felt so vulnerable.
“Of course I would, you smell delicious.” Jungkook said this as if it were an absolute fact.
Jimin didn’t know how to respond.
He took a deep breath. “You don’t have to say yes just because I asked. I, I know Alphas find it difficult to like an omega who is not pregnant with their child.”
“Jimin, I wouldn’t be here making you soup if I didn’t like your scent,” Jungkook replied.
Jimin nodded, fidgeting with his fingers. He wasn’t normally so shy and bashful, but his composure was falling apart. A very handsome and kind Alpha had offered to scent him, how could he not be?
“It doesn’t have to be right now, or ever. But if you ever feel as if you would want me to scent you, it would be an honour. Don’t be afraid to ask.”
Jungkook let his hand fall from the Omega’s chin, a soft smile overtaking his face, “You’re a very pretty crier, Jimin-ah.”
Jimin felt the corners of his mouth rise and his scent bloomed in happiness, “Thank you, Jungkook.”
It was a few days later and Jimin was attempting to put together a cot for the pup. It was safe to safe it was not going very well. He couldn’t figure out why all the nails were different sizes and which poles went where. He had worked himself up into an absolute frenzy, a mix of anger, frustration and sadness seeped from him and after three hours of trying to put the cot together, he finally decided to give up.
He stomped out of his apartment as best as he could given the huge pup protruding from his stomach and knocked on Jungkook’s door.
Jungkook took a minute before opening, and Jimin was shocked to be met with a half-naked Alpha with only a towel wrapped around his waist. Little beads of water were dripping from his hair down onto his chest, and Jimin struggled to look away. Jungkook had prominent abs and pecs, and his waist tapered into a thing v-line.
“Do you always open the door half-naked?” Jimin squeaked out, as he hid his eyes behind his hands in an attempt to stop himself from ogling Jungkook.
Jungkook laughed, “Only when I know a cute Omega is behind it.”
This did not help Jimin to remain calm.
“Um, I was wondering when you have time if you could help me build a cot? I’ve been trying for a few hours but I’m not very good at it.”
“Yeah, no problem. Give me 5 and I’ll come around,” Jungkook replied.
“Thank you so much,” Jimin bowed gratefully before closing the door on himself. Only afterwards realising that closing the door on oneself was a bit odd.
He waddled back around to his apartment, and waited patiently for the Alpha to show up.
It was safe to say that Jungkook was a lot better at assembling the cot than Jimin. The Alpha had finished in half an hour and had made several comments about how he could understand how Jimin had found it so difficult, despite it being a walk in the park for him.
Jimin had cut up some fruit afterwards and handed it to the Alpha, thanking him for his help.
“Ah, Jimin, this isn’t necessary really, I was happy to help.”
“It’s just a snack, it’s the least I can do.”
Jungkook hummed before gulping down a glass of water. “Are you feeling any better?”
Jimin shrugged his shoulders, “I’m just getting more stressed, but now the cot’s done at least that’s one less thing.”
“Let me know if I can de-stress you in any way,” Jungkook replied.
Jimin felt a slow blush reaching its way to his cheeks, the sexual innuendos were hard to ignore. He replied with a nod.
“It’s getting late I should probably start making dinner,” Jimin said, glancing at his phone.
“I have leftovers if you want to come over and share,” Jungkook questioned without hesitating.
“Jungkook, you are too forward,” Jimin whined, hiding his face behind his hands.
“I can’t help it, Hyung. I want to spend time with you.”
They had known each other for a couple of months now, and Jimin supposed it was time the two progressed beyond flirting and friendliness.
Jungkook was now standing next to the Omega, his hand perfectly sliding to hold Jimin’s cheek, his thumb softly caressing. A soft sigh left Jimin, and his eyes looked up at the Alpha standing over him.
“Hmm, aren’t you pretty?” Jungkook murmured.
He smiled as he felt Jimin’s cheeks heat up.
Jimin lifted his chin up, eyes blinking prettily. Jungkook leant down and softly locked his lips with the Omega. Their lips moved in sync, little whimpers coming from Jimin’s mouth. Their scents fluttered around one another, and Jimin felt himself drowning in Jungkook’s chocolate-orange scent and the soft feeling of his plump lips.
They softly parted, forced to catch their breath after several seconds.
“Can I take you out, Jiminie?” Jungkook asked, eyes swirling with affection.
“I would like that.”
