Work Text:
The smell of murim dumplings that filled the house is what woke Kim dokja up. He yawned as he rubbed his eyes, adjusting to the morning light shining through the translucent curtains in his bedroom. Reaching out his hand, Kim dokja felt the cold mattress in front of him.
Ah.
Yoo Junghyuk is awake.
He slowly sat up and stretched, his back aching from all the overtime he had to work the night before. Soon after, he got out of bed and trudged towards the bathroom.
Kim dokja splashed the icy cold water on his face as he thought about where to go on his wonderful day off. Since starting his contract with Minosoft, Kim dokja rarely had time to spend with Yoo Junghyuk due to the restricting working hours of 9am-5pm, and the Minosoft office being a good 1 hour train ride away from their house. Yoo Junghyuk even offered to drive Kim dokja to and from the office to save time, but Kim dokja, being the stupid squid he is, insisted on not troubling Yoo Junghyuk and disrupting his streaming schedule over a small inconvenience.
Kim dokja emerged from the bathroom not long after and headed downstairs. There he saw his beloved boyfriend, standing over the kitchen stove cooking the murim dumplings he prepared last night.
Yoo Junghyuk was wearing a black tank top and sweatpants, along with the apron Han Sooyoung gifted him that said "World's No.1 malewife" in bright pink letters. Kim dokja chuckled at the thought.
"Good morning, Kim dokja" Yoo Junghyuk said as he stirred the dumplings again. Kim dokja blushed a deep shade of red as he walked over to hug his beloved boyfriend from behind. A muffled 'good morning!' could be heard once Kim dokja planted his face onto Yoo Junghyuk's back.
He pulled away after a bit and announced with a bright smile on his face, "Yoo Junghyuk! Let's go to an amusement park today!"
"Mm. Sure, my love." Was the latter's response. Wow, Kim dokja thought, that was... Very unenthusiastic, definitely not the best response to an amusement park but an answer was still an answer.
"Eat first, then I'll prepare snacks for us to bring." Yoo Junghyuk said, gentle eyes travelling to Kim dokja as he leaned in to kiss his boyfriend on the forehead. A small blush crept onto Kim dokja's face. "I-uh, ok..." He stammered at his words and ran to get bowls from the cupboard. A chuckle escaped Yoo Junghyuk's mouth. He shifted his focus back to the dumplings and turned the stove off. With steady hands, he brought the pot to the dining table where Kim dokja was sitting and set it down in the centre. They enjoyed their meal in a comfortable silence, basking in the morning light together.
They got ready and left the house, heading towards the train station. Kim dokja clung onto his bucket hat, making sure it's stuck in place as the wind blew towards them.

Getting off at Jamsil station, the couple made their way to the exit. They walked towards the amusement park, Lotte World, and got their tickets. "2 adult tickets is 118,000 won, would you like to pay by cash or credit?" Yoo Junghyuk took out his card and tapped on the scanner, all while Kim dokja stood sheepishly beside him.
They scanned their tickets and went into the amusement park. Kim Dokja's eyes lit up at the scene in front of him. The laughter of children, the sight of families running around with smiles on their faces, the couples holding hands while queueing for rides and the delicious smell of fresh churros from the nearby food stand. Yoo Junghyuk smiled at the sight of Kim dokja's face, "Cute..." He thought to himself, admiring his boyfriend's face for just a bit longer before clearing his throat. "Kim dokja" Kim dokja whipped his head around, his attention on the man beside him. "What do you want to do first?" Yoo Junghyuk asked. Kim dokja scanned the indoor theme park, pondering for an answer. It was then he spotted a couple walking along the railings that overlooked the ice skating rink below. The couple was wearing a matching set of high school uniforms that were rented from the rental store near the entrance that Kim dokja and Yoo Junghyuk came in from. Turning to his boyfriend, Kim dokja took Yoo Junghyuk's hand in his and dragged him towards the rental shop.
Kim dokja marvelled at the wide selection of the different styles of high school uniforms the store had. "Definitely a lot better than our high school uniforms..." Yoo Junghyuk muttered under his breath, earning a small chuckle from the other. They picked out a matching set of uniforms, Kim dokja's had a white collar shirt, a red tie, a navy blue vest and a pair of dark grey slacks(he chose not to wear his blazer), while Yoo Junghyuk's had a white collar shirt, a navy blue tie with gold and red stripes, a dark grey vest, and a pair of navy blue slacks and blazer.
Kim dokja looked at himself in the mirror of the changing room as he straightened his tie. Seeing himself in a high school uniform reminded him of his high school days that he vividly remembers. The tortures he endured daily due to his bullies, the constant shovings, beatings, and verbal abuse were horrible. Kim dokja clutched onto the vest as the memories came flooding back, until he heard a familiar voice from outside the changing room.
"Kim dokja? Are you okay?" This snapped him out of his thoughts, as he scrambled to get his clothes off the floor. "Uh yeah! I'm fine Junghyuk..." Kim dokja hurriedly said as he pulled the curtain open.
"If you don't want to do this, we can just not wear them." Yoo Junghyuk suddenly said. Kim dokja looked into his eyes and saw a hint of gentleness and concern that Yoo Junghyuk always showed whenever he sensed something was wrong with his beloved boyfriend.
Opening his arms wide open, Yoo Junghyuk let Kim dokja lean in as his arms snaked around the smaller man's back. He placed a kiss on top of Kim dokja's head and hugged him close. The latter buried his head into the crook of Yoo Junghyuk's neck and breathed in the familiar smell of his sandalwood cologne.
It was... comforting and it felt like all his worries had melted away after the hug. His face buried into Yoo Junghyuk's shoulders, his grips tightened a little on his back. He was glad that he had Yoo Junghyuk here with him, Kim dokja did not know what he would do without Yoo Junghyuk.
Not long after, Kim dokja pulled away reluctantly, since they had been standing there for quite some time already. "Thanks Yoo Junghyuk... That was... nice." Kim dokja mumbled, his face slowly turning a deep shade of red as he turned his head away. Suddenly the clothing rack was the most interesting thing on his mind.
Yoo Junghyuk nodded, still keeping the same gentle expression as before, and headed to the counter to pay for their uniforms.

The couple put their bags and lunchboxes into lockers before heading out to enjoy the rides. The lively atmosphere of the amusement park made Kim dokja feel slightly better as a bright smile gradually returned to his face.
Wherever Kim dokja went, Yoo Junghyuk would follow, accompanying his boyfriend on whatever rides he wanted to go on.
They ate churros, went on rides, ate lunch and even got souvenirs at a gift shop.
But soon, the day ended, and it was time for the nightly fireworks show. Yoo Junghyuk spent the last hour finding the perfect spot to watch the fireworks, but finally settled on the bridge that oversees the lake in the park.
Their bodies were side by side, hands brushing against each other. Yoo Junghyuk slowly slid his hand into Kim dokja's and interlocked them, the tip of his ears turning red. Kim dokja smiled at the touch as the first firework was launched into the night sky.
It filled the dark sky with colours of all kinds.
Yoo Junghyuk turned to look at Kim dokja and was immediately captivated by Kim dokja’s features, which were enhanced by the lighting. The colours of the fireworks reflected in his dark eyes and the light shone on his porcelain skin, his smile is what makes Yoo Junghyuk fall in love with him all over again.
It is what takes him back to that day in high school when he saw the love of his life for the first time, sitting alone at a desk, eating a convenience store kimbap.
It is what takes him back to the time he confessed his love for Kim dokja in his second year of University, where the both of them were waiting at a bus stop, drenched from running through the pouring rain, and Yoo Junghyuk heard Kim dokja laugh for the first time ever.
It is what takes him to this exact moment, Kim dokja, the love of his life, the one who completes him, the one who never left.
Kim Dokja is his north star. His guide in life.
Yoo Junghyuk smiled as he gently placed his hand onto Kim dokja’s neck as he slowly leaned in, waiting for Kim dokja to signal his consent. A light blush dusted Kim dokja’s cheeks as his eyes widened slightly, he was stunned for a second before he leaned in and their lips met.
The fireworks boomed in the background, and the couple continued to hold each other in a loving embrace.
