Chapter Text

Evan Phillips, a talented pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, found himself in an unusual situation. His boyfriend, Joey Gallo, a former outfielder for the same team, had left the Dodgers and joined the Minnesota Twins the previous year. Despite the distance that separated them, they managed to maintain a strong and loving relationship. But today was different. Joey was in town for a visit, and the couple was taking a leisurely stroll through Elysian Park, enjoying their rare time together.

As they walked side by side, Joey broke the peaceful silence with a mischievous grin on his face. "Who wants to be cooped up on a day like this?" he exclaimed, gesturing to the beautiful surroundings. "The sun is shining, birds are singing... and I'm pretty sure those girls are checking you out."

Evan turned his head in surprise, his eyes following Joey's gaze. Sure enough, a group of girls nearby seemed to be stealing glances at him. Flustered, he stammered, "What? Wh-What are they looking at?"

Chuckling, Joey replied, "The hotness of you, doofus. You're an attractive guy, you know."

Evan's cheeks flushed with a mix of embarrassment and delight. "Those girls really thought I was hot?" he asked incredulously. Then, with a playful grin, he added, "Oh my god. I'm cured! I want the girls!" He made a comical gesture, as if preparing to sprint after them.

Joey quickly reacted, reaching out and grabbing Evan's arm, playfully restraining him. The two men shared a genuine laugh, their bond strengthened by the light-hearted moment.

The laughter subsided, and Joey asked, "Do I have to fight to keep you?" He still smiled as he said it, but Evan sensed the slightest hint of seriousness in the question.

Evan's heart swelled with affection as he gazed at his boyfriend. He gently took Joey's hand in his, intertwining their fingers. "No, Joey," he said, his voice filled with warmth. "You don't have to fight for me. I'm yours, and you're mine."

They stood there, basking in each other's presence, a sense of contentment washing over them. The bustling city seemed to fade into the background as they shared an intimate moment, appreciating the love they had built despite the challenges that came with their careers.

Evan spoke softly, his words filled with sincerity. "Being apart is never easy, but it's moments like these, when we can be together, that make it all worth it. I love you, Joey."

Joey's eyes sparkled with affection as he leaned in, pressing a tender kiss to Evan's lips. "I love you too, Evan. And no matter what, we'll always find a way to make it work."

Hand in hand, the couple continued their walk through Elysian Park, relishing in the joy of being in each other's presence. The challenges of their respective careers and the distance that often separated them melted away in the warmth of their love and the knowledge that, no matter where life took them, they would always have each other by their side.
