Between rustling leaves and flowers, Zelda had just been rescued by her appointed knight; Link, standing right by her side in his usual silence. Despite his stoic behaviour Link was concerned for the princess and stood close behind her, as she looked up into the floating castle, Hyrule Castle. Zelda kept her gaze at her previous home for several seconds before turning back around to her favoured knight. “I can’t believe it. The sword reached you after all this time…” Zelda gazed down below her feet grasping her white gown until her knuckles turned white. Link remained with his usual expression, showing blind concern for the woman before him.
Zelda has missed her home so much, let alone Link, she held back heavy tears in her eyes and took a deep breath. “Oh Link, I’ve missed you so much.” Zelda shortly took 3 short steps closer to him raising her arms to meet his bare chest, feeling him stiff up at the sudden contact. The princess graced her palms gently against his chest before making eye contact. Link saw tears slowly form into her emerald green eyes as she spoke: “I… Thank you.” A soft smile formed on her soft lips which grew closer by the second. Moments after Link felt Zelda’s lips meet his own, it was so sudden but the knight welcomed her embrace closing his eyes and resting his hands on her hips, as they kissed for a short while, which heavenly for the both of them.
Zelda broke the kiss and blushed heavily, taken aback from what she had just done. She quickly covered her face with both her hands to save her from embarrassment, which wasn’t working well for her. Link chuckled softly and smiled moving her hands away from her face. “Oh dear… I’m sorry I…” The princess felt her legs give out beneath her. “I-I didn’t mean to! I mean! I…” The girl quickly fell to her knees bursting out into tears, trying to cover her face once more. Link was alarmed and quickly fell down to her level trying his best to console her. “I… don’t know what I did I’m sorry! I, maybe you didn’t want to!” Zelda shook her head and tried to silent her cries but failed to do so. Her knight moved her hands away from her now, sobbing face drying her tears softly and initiating eye contact. Zelda suddenly felt her heavy tears stop flowing, as her wide swollen eyes looked deep into his. His concern and consoles worked to comfort the princess after a short while.
Link began softly cupping her chin and moving closer to give her a final reassuring kiss to ensure the princess that he had her consent. His lips were rougher than hers and surely he had inexperience with kissing, but to Zelda it was enough for her to fully calm down and accept the kiss. It lasted longer than the last and Zelda deepened the kiss to enjoy it furthermore. Seconds later Link broke the kiss, and gave her a soft smile to show he certainly enjoyed it, still remaining his silence as usual. Zelda smiled back, blushing softly as she now felt much better despite recent events.
Link stood back up and reached his hand to help his princess back up, to recollect her back on her feet. Zelda accepted his assistance as they both stood in silence. The knight once more reached his hand to hold hers as they were about ready to leave, but Link only managed to take a couple of steps before Zelda suddenly hugged him tighter than ever. She clutched him tightly like she was about to lose him again, showing her face in the crook of his neck. Link was taken aback feeling the dampness of her tears on his neck. “I promise I won’t ever leave you again!” Zelda dug her nails into his back. “I promise!” She said one more time, letting out the last drops of tears shed onto him. Link hugged her back, holding her short golden hair and softly kissing the top of her head.
”Thank you…” Muttered Zelda softly as she looked back into his eyes one last time. “Let’s get back home.”
