Atsumu had exactly three ‘heart stopping’ moments he could remember from the top of his head
1.when his brother caught him with his pants down at the age of 15 with a pick of some random chick pulled up on his phone (he'd rather forget this one)
2.when he almost got ran over by some angry taxi driver while he was jaywalking trying to make it home in the rain
3.And when he saw Sakusa Kiyoomi smile for the first time after he fell on his ass
Sakusa was a tuff person to understand, he was an even tuffer person to ration with. With his need for everything to be perfect, or the way he just lets every little thought come out of his mouth the way he sees it.
It was extremely hard to get along with him, but with constant nagging and begging you might find yourself at his apartment like Atsumu did on a random Saturday watching some cringey teen romance movie.
Atsumu had begged for them to hang out, claiming that ‘it was an early birthday present’ even though Atsumu's birthday was two months away, Sakusa let it slide saying he had ‘nothing else to do’.
But Atsumu knew
Regardless, the man would've said yes.
To many's surprise on the team Sakusa and Atsumu were good friends, their dynamic was what made people question if it was just some big joke, they were always fighting, bickering, or calling each other stupid names.
But besides that they were actually pretty close, maybe too close.
“Omi'' no reply
“Omi"
"Omi"
"Omi"
"Omi"
"What miya?” Kiyoomi sighed from the kitchen, glancing out towards the living room to see Atsumu laying on the couch grumbling and complaining about stuff that no one could control.
“When are ya gonna come in here, that's the whole point of hangin’ out ya know? To be around eachother” the blonde said talking with his hands, he sat up only to scowl at the taller man who rolled his eyes.
“You're already in my apartment isn't that enough?” kiyoomi said, sending glares at the fake blonde, making his way back to the kitchen.
It was in fact not enough
Atsumu didn't know when it started or how it started, the constant need to be in the younger one's presence, but once he realized it, he was drowning when he wasn't around the man.
He took his normal mission of annoying Sakusa to a whole nother level.
“Are you sulking in there miya?” Sakusa said from the kitchen over the sound of running water in the background.
“Nah'' Atsumu said as he was clearly sulking, he hadn't watched one bit of this dumb movie, besides the part where the girl slipped and the dude caught her which earned a hyena-like laugh out of Atsumu earlier followed by a ‘shut the hell up’.
“You're such a bad liar” the curly headed boy said, walking out of the kitchen with two cups of tea in his hand glaring at the blonde who only scoffed back in return.
“Well who wouldn't sulk? Ya been practically avoiding me” Atsumu said, glancing over at Sakusa who raised an eyebrow at him as he sat down on the couch beside the blonde.
“Can you not be alone for ten minutes miya?” Sakusa said placing Atsumu’s tea down on the coster settled on the coffee table while he took a sip of his own.
Atsumu huffed, partially because he would have to refrain from ever hearing the name ‘miya’ again and not thinking of Sakusa’s soft lips saying it.
He probably would have to change his name so whenever someone says it he's not automatically blushing.
“Whadever” Atsumu scoffed turning his attention back to the tv while grabbing his tea and drinking it, he could feel Sakusa’s gaze boring into the side of his head.
Sakusa would do that sometimes, stare. It was almost like how he looked at the volleyball everytime before he slammed it into the other side of the court, with care, studying every option available.
After an hour more of the movie they had both decided it was awful. Like everything about it was terribly awful, so they put on a horror movie.
Sakusa quickly found out that the Miya Atsumu was scared easily
So Sakusa naturally took it upon himself to tease the blonde and kept joking about him being a scaredy cat earning glares from Atsumu.
But there was one scene, one scene that really did it for the blonde. The girl walked into a room to kiss her husband only to turn around to see the monster which had Atsumu screaming like a little girl and dropping his now empty cup of tea onto the floor.
“Shit, sorry omi '' Atsumu said, turning over to look at Sakusa's scowl as he scoffed and went into the kitchen after he paused the movie.
“If i knew you were such a pussy i would've given you a plastic cup, that was expensive miya” sakusa said, holding towels and walking back to where the broken cup was laying.
Atsumu frowned, he really didn't mean to drop the cup, but who wouldn't have been scared by that? “Sorry, I'll buy ya’ new one,” Atsumu said softly, bending down to help the taller male clean up his mess.
“It's fine miya, i've got it” was all Sakusa said, picking the glass up with care as Atsumu protested picking it up fast to save Sakusa the trouble. He didn't want to be a bad guest afterall.
Maybe he should’ve listened to Sakusa cause now he was bleeding “shit! Ow” Atsumu said, dropping the tiny piece of glass and swinging his arm back and forth making Kiyoomi shake his head.
“I told you it was fine Miya'' Sakusa sighed, setting the towel filled with glass onto the coffee table gently and gesturing for Atsumu’s hand which earned him a questioning look, but the blonde listened anyway, extending his hand out to Sakusa.
“You're clumsy,” Sakusa said, pulling him up by the wrist being careful to avoid the cut on his hand and leading him to the bedroom and telling him to sit on the bed.
“Tch you sound like my ma”
“you should listen to your mother more than”
Sakusa came back with a bandaid and disinfectant to clean the wound.
“you really dont-”
“shut up miya”
“you're so prickly ya know that?” Atsumu said, turning his head to the side and staring down at Sakusa who was currently on one knee as Atsumu sat at the edge of the bed.
“You tell me that quite often,” Sakusa said softly, drying the blood from Atsumu’s hand before applying the disinfectant.
If looks could kill, Atsumu would be dead right now because no one should have the right to look this beautiful.
Sakusa glanced up at Atsumu through thick black eyelashes and stared at him almost as if he was trying to figure out some puzzle. Maybe it was adrenaline that has yet to leave from the movie that had him dropping the cup, or some crazy god watching above praying for his downfall.
But whatever the reason may be, he doesn't know what caused him to quickly lean down and kiss Sakusa on the mouth, Sakusa’s lips are soft, soft in the way that lets you know he probably applies lip balm and lip masks type of soft.
Which would probably explain the man's acne free face, it was clear he had a nighttime routine to keep his face that well.
Sakusa pulled back eyes wide, the shock clear as he looked at Atsumu
oh
Atsumu shouldn't have done that because now Sakusa was letting go of his hand and slowly standing up.
“mi-” Sakusa started to say but being interrupted
“shit- i.. I wasn't even thinking omi shit sorry” Astumu said nervously standing up quickly
“miya it's-”
“no shit I'm really sorry omi i-imma just leave,” the blonde said, rushing out of the bedroom as Sakusa followed behind him quickening his footsteps.
“miya stop”sakusa said as Atsumu mumbled apologizes under his breath
“It's fine doncha’ worry,” Atsumu said, waving his hand backward before slipping his guest slippers off and stuffing his feet into his shoes.
“Miya, would you just stop?” Sakusa said louder approaching Atsumu quickness evident in his steps
“i-” Atsumu started to say but was interrupted by soft lips.
Atsumus eyes widened as he stood stiff in place like some mannequin, Sakusa pulled back scowling at him with a blush rising to his face and ears.
“could you put some energy into it, Atsumu?” Sakusa said shyly, tilting his head to the side as his curly hair covered one of his eyes.
“Shit yeah omi i can do that” Atsumu quickly reconnected their lips making them both stumble back a little at the impact as Sakusa put his hands into Atsumu’s hair clinging to the blonde locks like the man was about to fly away.
kissing was probably Atsumu’s favorite thing now, Kiyoomi kisses like it's his lifeline, hungrily, fast, messy.
As they part for air Atsumu steps back “omi” he says not realizing he left his slippers there in a poor attempt to leave the house which sends him falling, landing right onto his ass
“ ow what the-'' he stopped mid sentence snapping his head at the sound of a chuckle Sakusa Kiyoomi was smiling followed by more chuckling.
He swears in that moment like the cringey romance movie they were watching earlier, the world seems to come to a slow.
Sakusa does not smile, he might smirk, or whatever odd facial thing he constructs his face into doing.
But he does not smile.
“Are ya smillin’ right now?” Atsumu says utterly and emotionally stunned at was in front of him right now. Sakusa was actually smiling, and laughing? Maybe Atsumu hit his head because this could not be happening.
Sakusa looks down at him still smiling as he laughs harder “gosh- Atsumu you're so clumsy”
“Wah!? Omi you're actually smiling?” Atsumu yelped, not even bothering to stand up, shocked by this unnatural event, it was much more terrifying than the movie that made him cut his hand.
“Are you going to run away again if I said yes?” Sakusa said cheeks red and a soft smile plastered on his face as he bent down to Atsumu’s level.
“N-no i was just scared okay?!” Atsumu said turning red seeing Sakusa bend down in front of his face and chuckle, he softly grabbed Atsumu’s face bringing their eyes to meet.
“Good” was all he got from the man before their lips reconnected over, and over again. Maybe horror movies are his savior,or maybe he should just always fall onto his ass.
He wasn't even concerned about the cut on his hand, too busy focusing on kissing the man in front of him to care about anything right now.
And god the things he'd do to see that smile again was unbelievable, he probably would start some war.
