Work Text:
It was raining heavily, and I was running. I reached this abandoned large garage and leaned against the wall inside, catching my breath and occasionally looking behind me. I took one big exhale before getting up and walking around. I just walked in a straight line from my position, that's then I heard it. Sniffling?
I look up, on a large platform, I couldn't really tell what, but it kinda looked like a boat. I spotted someone, they looked familiar.
"Hello?" I spoke, my doe eyes targeting the small frame of the boy. "H-Hello?" He said in between hics. I saw him look back down at me.
"Holy shit, Aidyn?" I said, my eyes widening. He squinted before his eyes widened as well. "Alex?" He wiped his tears.
I began climbing on top of the oddly placed boat. I was usually really good at climbing stuff with ease, with all the running away came with learning how to easily jump fences or climb them. I took a seat next to them, once I was closer I had noticed he had a black eye. I felt my own heart be hurt by the sight of one of my old friends.
"What are you doing here..?" He asked, trying to seem like he wasn't crying. I exhaled, "Could ask you the same." I replied, tilting my head to see him better; he attempted to hide his face.
I decided not to make things difficult and answered first, "I was running from someone and, obviously, it started raining so I can here to hide." He looked up at me. "Running from who?"
I put my finger up, "I answered, your turn." I gave a sly smile and shook his head slightly.
"I come here when I just wanna get away. And as you see, I'm here." He gave a sad smile. I furrow my eyebrows, "Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked, I hesitantly put my hand on his.
He looked up at me with flushed cheeks, his lashes decorated with crystals of tears. "Yeah.. But you talk first, I wanna take my mind off things. Just for a little bit." I nodded, removing my hand, I was very expressive with them.
I told him the reason I had been running from someone, it was a chick named Sammi I had to pay back. I was in debt to her for something I couldn't even remember, and when she spotted me in town she reminded me of the payment. I didn't have the money, and worst of all, she had been threatening me. I got my friend, Lip, to distract her while I made an escape; I ran one way, he taunted her and ran the opposite. It had started raining a few minutes after our initial interaction, and I got soaked in the rain.
Aidyn was dumbfounded by all the sudden information presented. He slowly nodded, "Guess it's my turn." He let out a humorous exhale in attempt to lighten the mood. "I came out to my parents as gay and they did not take it well, as you can tell." He motioned to his black eye, scoffing out a short laugh.
I felt my stomach twist and churn grotesquely, "They hit you?" I asked, in more of a mumble.
He looked around, hesitating before speaking again, "My dad. My mom wouldn't even look at me. They won't talk to me, so, I came here to get away." I could feel his pain and the rejection of love from his own parents
"I'm so, so sorry." My hand returned to his; which was resting on his thigh now, I interlocked our fingers. No matter how much time had gone by, we would always be friends. I, for one, always wanted more; I've had major feeling for him only a few months after we met. I had always wished he liked me back, and he might've, but I didn't wanna force anything on him. Especially now, I wanted to be a source of comfort and love that he didn't have.
He was looked at our hands, then back up at me, his beautiful doe eyes sparkling from the wetness of the tears that remained. The light that kept the garage lit were a few long florescent lights that were installed many feet above us. It still provided a good source nonetheless.
I squinted, thinking for a moment. "Do you wanna come to my house? You can stay for a little instead of hanging out here to 'get away.'""
As soon as the words left my mouth, I could see his eyes light up, "Really?
I felt a sincere smile spread across my face, I untangled our interlocked fingers, "Of course. Anything you want." I pat his shoulder softly. "C'mon." I hopped off the large boat, sticking my landing. I used my hand to help my balance as I collided with the floor. He had a more efficient and safer way to get down, using the assessable latter to climb back down. I motioned for him to follow, and we made our way to my house.
By now, the rain had died down, but it was misty outside, so my lashes caught the mist and occasionally disrupted my vision. It was already dark, the only lights being street lamps placed spaciously from one another. I got to my house, but ran around to the back door. It stayed open, so it was better to go though the back than the front in case it was locked.
No one was home, thank god. Aidyn and I could chill out without questions being asked. I showed him to my room, "Don't mind the mess.. I haven't cleaned in forever." My floor was almost covered in clothes. I was good about throwing stuff away in my trash bin and taking it out, but I've always been bad about throwing clothes wherever. On the plus side, they were mostly thrown to the corners of my room or on chairs.
"No worries, my room probably looks the exact same right now." He said, flashing a beautiful smile to me. I took off my wet shoes once I got to my room, I kicked them beside the door so I wouldn't dirty the floor; Aidyn did the same.
"I'm gonna get changed real quick, would you want to, too? I could lend you some clothes, I don't know if yours are dirty. Mine, clearly, are." I exhaled humorously, digging through my drawers.
"If you wouldn't mind.. My clothes are a bit wet." He said, standing awkwardly near my bed. "Of course not! Do you want something comfy like a large shirt and some sweats?" I looked over at him, placing my change on the bed. He nodded, I could feel his discomfort in a new place. I intended to change the aura of the situation, I wanted him to feel comfortable with me like we had years before. I can tell he did, but I don't think he's been over before, and for anyone that can be scary and weird.
I picked out a pair of black sweats and one of my favorite, large Metallica shirts. I walked over and handed them to him, "You can leave your wet clothes in the hamper, I'll get to them in a bit, okay?" He took the clothes and nodded, "Thank you."
I just smiled and pointed to my door, "Go, get changed. The bathroom's to the left when you walk out." He exchanged the smile and left to change.
I walked back over to where I laid my clothes and began to undress. The binder I was wearing was almost completely drenched; I took it off and threw it aside, grabbing another one and slipping it on. This one had been somewhat looser than the other one, better for when I just wanted to relax and actually breathe. Ironic, I know. I put my shirt on and searched for some different pants. I noticed a hole in the pair I grabbed.
I took out a pair, just as I turned around Aidyn came back in, looking the most comfortable in my clothes. His face flushed at the sight of me without pants, despite the fact I had boxers on. "Oh, shit, sorry." He apologized.
"Oh, no worries. Come, come sit." I fixed the pj pants since they were inside out. Aidyn looked the other way, but he had unintentionally looked into my mirror that hung on my way; it displayed the perfect view of me. At the time I completely forgot I was packing, that's what he must've been staring at. I glanced up to see his big dark eyes gazing, I smirked to myself as I slipped on my pj pants.
I hopped on my bed, next to Aidyn, "Wanna watch something? Anything you want. My mom's paying for a bunch of streaming services. We basically have everything." I handed my remote to him, letting him have free reign. I fixed the pillows that laid against the headboard, making sure they were enough to keep my body at the right position to watch tv.
Aidyn went to Netflix and put on something he had been watching, he continued where he left off. I didn't mind, as long as he was comfy and happier than he was, I was happy too.
We watched a few episodes, each was about 40 minutes or more. I interrupted the show, "Are you hungry? Sorry I haven't offered anything.." I played with my hair a bit.
Aidyn looked over and let a soft smile crawl onto his face, "It's all good. What kinda snacks do you have?" Aidyn sat up from his previous position. I got up, "No idea, let's go see." I started walking to my
I started walking to my door, and from there, the kitchen.
We scavenged the kitchen for something to eat, I made something quick for us and grabbed additional snacks to eat on while we watched tv. We hurried back to my room to resume the show; I was actually really getting into it despite continuing from such an obscure place.
A couple more hours passed, it was about midnight, Aidyn had mentioned how he wanted to stay the night, since his parents couldn't care less about him. I took this as he felt comfortable, so, I had no problems with him staying over. I occasionally looked over and saw Aidyn's heavy eyes.
"Tired?" I asked in a low tone, I looked down at his beautiful stature. He smiled and rubbed his eyes, "Yeah, I might go to sleep.." He said, also in a low tone. "You can put something on, I don't wanna miss anything." He said, referring to the show.
I smiled, "Alright.." I turned on season one of SpongeBob and let to play. I got comfy in my bed, as did Aidyn.
"Can.. um.." The boy began, I lifted my head.
"What..?" I responded softly. He just scooted closer to me so I was spooning him. I got the jest, I pulled the blanket over our shoulders; I slipped my arm under his and pulled him closer. I let my hand rest on his lower stomach, and soon he fell asleep. The nostalgia hit me like a wave.
It brought me back, about four and a half years ago, when we were the closest.
