"Are you excited for our official debut this week?" Bahiyyih suddenly spoke up through the darkness from her top bunk.
Y/n was silent for a moment, contemplating her answer.
"Mostly yes. It feels amazing to finally get here after all we went through while on Girls Planet." Was her final answer from the bottom bunk.
"It sounds like there's a but in there somewhere," Bahiyyih responded.
She sighed, "But, this is…This is the start of our idol careers. This is the start of contracts and rules and limitations and I just..."
She faded off into a pensive silence.
"Can I come down there?" Bahiyyih questioned softly after a moment.
"Yeah."
The bunkbed creaked slightly as Bahiyyih climbed out from under her covers and down the ladder. Somehow she managed to navigate her way to her friend's bed without falling or hurting herself in the darkness of their shared room.
Her friend lifted the covers and Bahiyyih squeezed herself into the single bed next to her friend. She covered Bahiyyih with the duvet before turning onto her back and staring up at the bottom of the top bunk. Bahiyyih frowned and reached for one of her hands under the covers, holding it lightly in one of her own.
"What's on your mind?" She asked softly, turning onto her side and looking curiously at the other girl through the darkness.
She sighed, "I don't know, Hiyyih. It just seems to all be moving so fast. We're still young. There are so many things we haven't done yet. So many things I haven't done yet."
"Like what?" Bahiyyih inquired, her voice laced with gentle curiousity.
The other girl swallowed thickly, nervously, "We've signed that contract and we'll officially have a dating ban and I…I haven't even ever been on a date. I haven't so much as hold hands romantically. I haven't even had my first kiss, Hiyyih."
Bahiyyih was silent for a moment and y/n's heart hammered away in her chest. Had she been too honest? Did her friend think of her as naïve and pathetic now?
"Me neither." Bahiyyih broke the silence.
Her friend's eyes widened slightly and she turned onto her side to look at her, "Really? But what about that crush you said had? Did you never do anything about it? Was it unrequited?"
Bahiyyih averted her gaze, "Yeah, I never did anything and, yeah, I think it was."
Y/n frowned, genuinely perplexed and slightly upset, "How could someone not love you?"
Bahiyyih shrugged, "I don't know, she-"
"She?" Her friend interrupted.
Bahiyyih realised her slip up and her heart jumped anxiously, "No, sorry I meant he-"
Her friend took her hand in hers once more and stroked her knuckles with her thumb, "It's okay. Tell me about her."
Bahiyyih prayed that her hand wasn't clammy in hers.
"She's…I don't really have words. She was the first person to ever give me butterflies. I never really understood attraction until I met her."
"Hmm. Did you know her long?"
"Um, kind of? We met a few months ago."
Y/n gave her a confused look, "We started Girls Planet a few months ago. I don't recall seeing you with anyone new."
Bahiyyih chose to stay silent as she tried to come up with some sort of believable lie.
"Unless…" Her friend trailed off, "Unless you met her on the show."
Bahiyyih's heart jumped again and she gulped, "Yeah, I met her on the show."
A spark of jealousy flickered up in the other woman's heart, "Do I know her?"
Bahiyyih looked away, "Maybe."
"Was she in G group or K group?"
"G group."
"Did she make it to the final round?"
Bahiyyih wondered if answering all these questions was a good idea or not but she was too sleepy to argue with herself.
"Yes."
Even in the dark, with her eyes only slightly adjusted, Bahiyyih could almost see the cogs turning in her friend's mind.
"Is she debuting with us in Kep1er?"
Bahiyyih gulped, was she really going to do this?
Bahiyyih's pulse was loud in her ears and she was sure that her hand was definitely clammy in her friend's now.
"Yes."
Her friend froze for a second, Bahiyyih could feel it and could feel the way her grip tightened on her hands.
"Is it…Is it Hikaru?" Her friend's voice sounded so tense and Bahiyyih frowned but then recalled the question.
"No."
"Then who?"
Was she really going to risk it? Was she going to risk potentially messing everything up? Y/n had said that their freedom would be limited soon and that there were so many things that she still wanted to do. There were so many things that Bahiyyih herself still wanted to do and perhaps she should be brave for even just a second. What if it was now or never?
"It's…It's you," She finally managed and she winced as her words of confession sounded through the air.
There was a tense silence that seemed to stretch forever following her confession. Every second that passed, Bahiyyih felt her panic grow more and more until it felt like her heart was beating in her throat and the blankets around her were suffocating her. When her friend took her hand out of hers Bahiyyih felt like she might be sick and felt tears settle in her waterline. She had messed up monumentally, hadn't she?
She was just about ready to scramble out of the lower bunk and clamber up to the top one again and pray that when she woke up this would all just have been a bad dream. Except she was rooted to the spot when she felt her friend's hand gently cup her cheek. Bahiyyih's breath caught in her throat.
"You're shaking," Her friend murmured.
"I'm so sorry, Y/n. I don't know what's wrong with me. Can we pretend this never happened?"
She could feel the other girl gazing at her and she closed her eyes. She couldn't deal with this. Every instinct was telling her to run but she still couldn't seem to coax her limbs into working like they were supposed to.
"Why would I want to pretend this never happened?"
Bahiyyih's eyes shot open and her brows drew together, "Are you not upset?"
"Why would I be?"
"Because I just confessed to you, to my friend, who doesn't feel the same."
Her friend's thumb stroked her cheekbone lightly as she cupped her face, "Who said I don't feel the same?"
"What?" Bahiyyih was sure this must be a dream.
"I said, who said I don't feel the same?"
Bahiyyih stopped and thought about it for a second. For all of Girls Planet, Y/n had been by her side which was one of the main reasons Bahiyyih had crushed on her. Y/n was there to take care of her and hold her when she cried. Y/n stayed behind with her when she stayed back in the dance practice room and went over choreo with her into the early hours of the morning. Y/n hadn't done that with any of the other contestants, now that she thought about it. She couldn't recall a single moment when Y/n doted on any of the other contestants the way she doted on Bahiyyih. Was she reaching? Was it wishful thinking?
"You…Feel the same?"
"Yeah. I have since I first ran into you in the Girls Planet dorms."
Bahiyyih couldn't believe what she was hearing. She pinched herself under the blankets and Y/n laughed lightly, "Did you just pinch yourself?"
"I'm dreaming. I must be."
Y/n laughed again, the sound affectionate more than teasing, "You are the most adorable person that I know."
Bahiyyih's cheeks were suddenly burning and she averted her gaze.
"Are you blushing?"
She got no response.
"Oh my gosh, Hiyyih, you're actually blushing, aren't you?"
Bahiyyih shoved her lightly, "Stop it."
Y/n scooted closer to her and Bahiyyih didn't need to turn the lights on to know that her friend was smiling at her, "Nope. Never."
Bahiyyih reached up under the blankets and tentatively cupped her friend's jaw in her palm.
They just stared at each other through the darkness for a moment. It was too dark to properly guage each other's facial expressions but soon enough they were both slowly and carefully edging their faces closer and closer to each other until their nose brushed. They stayed like that for a minute, just breathing each other's air, until Y/n closed that small gap between them and pressed a kiss to Bahiyyih's lips. It was just a small, shy brush of the lips but butterflies erupted inside of Bahiyyih's tummy at the feeling. She pushed forward to press another kiss to the other girl's mouth. Y/n smiled against her mouth before holding her by the back of her neck and returning that little kiss with a little more intent. She carefully moved her lips against Bahiyyih's and Bahiyyih sighed against her mouth before easing into the kiss. It only took a couple of tentative, lingering pecks before they melted into the kiss and found a slow, mostly steady rhythm. Their movements were oh so tender and they weren't completely sure of what they were doing but it felt good and it made their hearts all warm and fuzzy and fluttery and that was good enough for them.
One final kiss to Bahiyyih's lips and another to her brow and Y/n pulled her into her arms. Bahiyyih snuggled up against her gladly with a content, giddy little smile.
"I guess we can cross that off our lists of firsts now," Bahiyyih murmured sleepily into the other girl's shoulder.
Y/n chuckled softly and held her tighter, "Yeah, I guess we can."
