Lemon cookie most know as the edgy teen, was sitting in his usual place. It was Monday morning and everyone looked like a zombie, expect for mr.Hero-Sunshine. Lemon would never understand how could he look so happy everyday, was something good always happening? or was it just simple luck? nobody knew, and nobody asked, after all.
The simple protagonist was just listening to music, making sure his headphones were only allowing him the joy of music and not sharing with anyone else, till, a little voice caught his attention.
"Good morning Lemon! How are you doing?" Hero asked as he waved at his friend, hero and Lemon had the bad luck to not sit together, but meanwhile Lemon's seat partner wasn't there, hero would have his way on sitting next to him. Lemon looked to his side after he paused the current song on his phone.
"Mornin' Hero" He said, his voice was still as quiet as always and it seemed as uninterested as always, but hero just seemed happy to have lemon's company for now. "I'm bored... as you can tell." Lemon with his second needed answer would put the music back on his headphones and just rest on his table, knowing very well his little friend would start at any moment with an stoppable rant and ramble over comics and a new super heroes series.
But surprisingly for our sour friend, hero just stayed silent after Lemon's answer. he opened his sketchbook and just started to doodle and scribble about his characters and super heroes ideas. lemon thought it was quite weird, was he sick? did someone die? why is hero just... silent?
"Hero?" Lemondsaid, a little pause in his headphones and his friend looking back at him. "yeah? Is something wrong?" He asked, clueless. "...Are you alright? it's weird when you don't talk" The sour friend finally admitting, taking his headphones away and looking at the usual chatty. "oh... Sorry, I thought you were tired so I didn't want to bother you with my rambles" Hero said, a nervous laugh with a soft smile calmed the worried Lemon, now he knew why he was so silent."I'm not tired, you can ramble... it wakes me up" Lemon said, looking at Hero, he wanted to say more but after Hero heard he could freely speak, he started. Leaving lemon with his words in his tongue.
Hero would be rambling now, talking about his usual comics and what he have been working on, Lemon this time heard every single word, actually growing some interest on Hero's words. lemon around the time Hero spoke, felt a sudden rush, he was finally all the way awake and not so tired anymore! a good sight, Hero kept his speech.
Lemon felt somehow content, oh right, he was talking with his crush... how could he forget about it? he knew they still treated each others as friends... because they were just that for now. Just best friends and that's it, Lemon was too shy to even confess, and seeing how many time Hero didn't get the hints was a little sad by his side, meanwhile, Hero just thought Lemon was growing more fond of him! and he was happy with that more than anything, he couldn't ask for more.
In a moment, Hero grew silent again, he seemed to be... done with his ramble? really? Lemon looked at him quite confused as Hero just looked to the nothing for a moment, before he looked at Lemon again. "Lemon?" he said. "Yeah..?" Lemon replied, a little cautious. "Can I talk to you about something new? Cheerleader got me trapped in one of her novels and I really wanna talk about it" He said, a little hopeful Lemon would agree, I mean... he agreed to speak about Super heroes most of the school year! so what could change with a little novel? "... eh, sure. You can talk about it" Lemon said in a more calm tone now, seeing Hero silent really scared him, it wasn't usual for him and his chatty personality to just go silent.
Hero nodded and started to talk about this suspicious new novel... which, Lemon recognized immediately, it was a rom-com Orange force him to read back in elementary school, he could still remember parts of the book and that just made him more nervous, not only was he familiarized with it, but Hero was probably getting into it... Lemon just did small talk about it, an embarrassment blush appearing in his face as he tried to ignore it a little.
In a moment, Hero started to talk about the characters of it, the main couple and how he liked the dynamic of a serious guy with a soft spot for the protagonist, a bubbly and happy girl, Lemon heard him and he could only imagine himself and Hero in the book, it was a cheesy novel he didn't admit he cried over. Hero kept talking, Lemon just thinking how he'll love for that story to happen to him... how he would love to not be so embarrassed... if he could just know what Hero was thinking.
"Hey Lemon? This may sound weird... but can I hold your hand?" Lemon stopped for a second, his heart probably stopping too. "w- ...Why?" Lemon asked with a slight faint blush and a surprised smile on his face. "I don't know, I just wanna try it! in the novel they say its all so cool or something like that" Hero said in his very inexperience of relationships... Lemon well, he wasn't going to decline such offer.
Lemon handed his hand towards Hero, this one grabbing it. Their fingers locking with each other while they hold hands. Lemon was... happy, excited?? he couldn't tel, Hero's hands were soft even if a little stiff thanks to his usual work with metal and such, but for Millennial he was happy to be able to just grab it... Meanwhile Hero was just happy to try it out, Lemon's hands were soft and smooth as usual, he didn't do any type of work outside school so he didn't have much to worry about! Hero smiled softly and giggled, he was happy to hold his friends hand.
"so.. umh" Lemon mumbled. "mmh? Is something wrong?" Hero asked looking at Lemon finally noticing his red face. "n- No... just umh... h- How does it feel?" He asked, referring to their little hand holding. "oh! It's nice! your hands are soft you know? I really like them!" Hero said with a cheeky smile, Lemon was more than happy to hear that.
