Cruise of a Lifetime

Summary:

It's summertime for the Avengers and the ponies, and Iron Man is taking them on a cruise to Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao to celebrate. However, he gets so caught up with schedules that he forgets to live in the moment. Fortunately, the others are determined to help him have some fun in the sun.

Notes:

I'm back, darlings! After much thought, I have decided to give the fourth story in my "When the Frost Thaws" series a vacation theme. I got this idea when I was on vacation in Greece back in June, as the environment made me think about what the Avengers and the MLP G5 ponies would do on an island vacation.

In terms of posting chapters, I will go back to posting one chapter a week. And of course, Sunday is still the day that I will post new chapters! However, my posting schedule may be a little weird this time because college starts in August, and I'm sure that my classes will be hectic. Regardless, I'll make an effort to make the posting schedule for this story as normal as possible.

Without further ado, please enjoy "Cruise of a Lifetime!"

Chapter 1: Last Day of School

Chapter Text

Today was a big day for Sunny Starscout, Izzy Moonbow, Hitch Trailblazer, Zipp Storm, Pipp Petals, Sprout Cloverleaf, and Misty Brightdawn- it was the last day of school. After a long year at Bridlewood High School, the seven friends were anxious for their many months of freedom to finally come.

As a matter of fact, classes were cancelled, so all the ponies had to do was share their summer plans with their math teacher, Phyllis Cloverleaf, in her classroom. Then, the bell would go off at 11:25, and from there, summer would officially start.

“Good morning, class,” Phyllis told her class as she tried to fight back her tears. “I can’t believe that it’s the last day of school. You ponies are growing up so fast!”

“Aww, please don’t cry,” said Sunny.

“Yeah, we’ll be back in the fall,” Hitch added.

“Oh, I know,” Phyllis replied, “but I can’t bear the thought of parting from you all for a few months… but then again, my Sprouty-kins lives with me.”

Sprout immediately became embarrassed. “Mom!” he responded as he tried to control his blushing.

Phyllis chuckled. “I love you, dear,” she said. “Now, would you ponies like to have some brownies? I made them myself.” She then showed her class a plate of cakey brownies, which were topped with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles.

“Mmm! Of course we would!” Misty exclaimed before being the first to take a brownie. Eventually, the rest of the class followed suit, grabbing a brownie each.

“Yo, these brownies are delicious,” Zipp said with her mouth full.

“Well, I did make them with a lot of love!” Phyllis replied. “And actually, I have a question for you, Team Sunny. What are your summer plans?”

“We don’t know yet,” Sunny answered, “but Iron Man did say that he had a surprise in store for us.”

“So our summer plans revolve around whatever the surprise is,” Izzy added.

“That’s wonderful to hear,” said Phyllis before looking at the rest of her class. “Now, how about the rest of you tell me your summer plans?”

“I’m going to stay with my aunt and uncle at their lakehouse!” said Jazz Hooves.

“I’ll be playing video games and eating junk food all day,” Jasper explained.

“And I’ll be going to summer school,” Windy added.

Sunny and her friends winced at Windy’s response. ‘Who would ever want to continue school during the summer?’ the former thought as she recoiled in disgust.

After more ponies passed around their summer plans, it was 11:20. Now, the class spent the last five minutes of the school year staring at the clock, waiting for summer to start.

“We’re only five minutes away from summer,” Zipp said to herself.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.

Those were the sounds the clock made as the ponies stared at it in anticipation. It struck 11:21, then 11:22, then 11:23, then 11:24, and finally…

… 11:25! At last, summer was here!

“It’s summertime!” Pipp said in a singsong tone. She then told the class, “Come on, ponies! Let’s celebrate!”

On cue, the students raced out of Phyllis’s classroom, much to the latter’s shock. The math teacher’s shock then turned into pride for her class. “Have a great summer, students,” she said before putting away her empty plate, which once contained her brownies.

The students ran out of Bridlewood High in a stampede-like manner, each one rushing to get to the front doors first. But when Sunny and her friends made their way outside, Iron Man called them via their radios.

“Ponies, we need you in our world,” Iron Man called in. “Vulture is on the loose!”

“Let me guess, is he another supervillain?” Zipp asked.

“Yep,” Iron Man responded. “He’s stolen money from Queens Bank. You can get to New York via the new portal in Sunny’s backyard.”

“We’ll be right there, Tony!” Sunny said before hanging up. She then led the rest of her friends to the second portal to the human world, this time leading to New York. Sprout opened the portal, and allowed the others to fly in before going last.

Captain America ran to the ponies as soon as they arrived at Avengers Tower. “Tony’s got Vulture in his sights,” he told them. “But he needs help.”

“Hop on!” Sunny told Cap, spreading a wing to allow him to mount her.

Soon enough, the present Avengers, as well as Queen Shuri of Wakanda, had mounted up. Cap rode Sunny, Ms. Marvel rode Izzy, T’Challa rode Hitch, Hawkeye rode Zipp, Whitney Frost rode Pipp, Black Widow rode Sprout, and Shuri rode Misty.

“Agh, he’s too fast!” Iron Man exclaimed after Vulture flew faster to avoid getting caught.

“We’re here to help, Tony!” said Ms. Marvel once she and the others caught up to Iron Man.

“Now where’s that evil bird man?” asked Izzy.

“He took a left at that intersection,” Iron Man said, looking at the intersection down below.

“Turn left, everybody!” Black Widow said before everyone turned left at the intersection to find Vulture.

Once the group saw Vulture, they tried to use their powers to subdue him, but Vulture evaded their every attack. “Too slow, fools!” the villain shouted after dodging Cap’s shield.

Just then, a large bolt of lightning struck the road, and a familiar brown-haired man with an ax for a weapon appeared. It was Thor, as he used his ax, Stormbreaker, to transport to Earth to help the rest of the Avengers stop Vulture.

“Drop the money, coward,” Thor told Vulture once he landed, threatening him with Stormbreaker.

However, Vulture wasn’t intimidated. “Nice toy,” he said, referring to Stormbreaker. “But you know what they say- finder’s keepers.”

“As long as you don’t steal,” Iron Man said after he and the others landed on the road. “Vulture, you are under arrest.”

“What?! No!” exclaimed Vulture as Whitney used her plant powers to bind his hands behind his back. “You can’t do this to me! I am Vulture- a feared supervillain, not a laughingstock!”

“And we’ll be taking the money,” Cap said after dismounting Sunny. He then took the money from Vulture.

While Cap and Sunny took the money back to the bank, Iron Man transported Vulture to Avengers Tower, which contained a prison for villains. During the time that Iron Man was gone, Hawkeye and Shuri rode closer to Thor to talk with him.

“Hey Thor!” Hawkeye said cheerfully. “How are you doing?”

“I’ve been doing well,” Thor answered. “My helix piercing has been healing beautifully. And I also got a new eye to replace the one I lost.” He then pointed at his new cybernetic right eye.

“Can you see out of it?” Shuri asked.

“I actually can,” answered Thor. “I got it from a talking raccoon in outer space, and it is quite technologically advanced. It’s even indestructible.”

“Sweet!” exclaimed Hawkeye. “We’re happy for you, dude. Now come on. Let’s go back.”

Thor mounted Zipp, sitting behind Hawkeye, before flying back to Avengers Tower with everyone else. Cap and Sunny joined them in the middle of their flight, and told the others that returning the money to Queens Bank had gone well.

Everyone dismounted the ponies right when Iron Man walked to them. “Hey guys,” he told them. “I’ve got some big news to share. Follow me to the living room.”

Sunny gasped. “Could this be the surprise?” she asked.

“Maybe,” Pipp told the orange alicorn before they went with the others to the living room to hear what Iron Man had to say.
