Jimin was never angry at Jeongguk, well, he never could actually, for moving on from him to another man. Instead, Jimin is disappointed with himself, who is completely nothing to Jeongguk's new man, Taehyung.
When Taehyung can give everything to Jeongguk, Jimin ends up giving nothing to the latter.
The small man knows that he's too fed up with his insecurities even though Jeongguk always tells him (well, 'told' him) that he's beautiful. Jimin blushes and muttered a quiet thank you everytime Jeongguk said that, but he ends up feeling insecure again, because who wouldn't? Going out with such good looking man with a great personality when Jimin (thinks) himself is an average man. Nothing compared to Jeongguk's perfect self.
Jimin hates himself because he can't bring himself to hate Taehyung. The man with the box smile had won his ex's heart, yet Jimin couldn't help but smile at them, pretending it doesn't hurt when he congratulated them. Taehyung is such a sweet man. He never feels down, he is always smiling, sharing his joyfulness with the world. Taehyung is really a ball of sunshine and practically everyone's eyecandy.
Both of them looks so beautiful together, hell, shining even. They're good looking, and people are rooting for their relationship, unlike when Jimin's with Jeongguk. Jimin couldn't help but feel insecure everytime they had a dates in the past. Jimin would look so small beside Jeongguk and look so pitiful with his puffy cheeks unlike Taehyung who's taller than him and look brighter than he is.
Jimin knows he couldn't give anything, not even a single drop of happiness to Jeongguk, but he can't help but wishing he could be Jeongguk's one more time, one last time. He knows it's selfish but it's okay to daydream, right? It's not like he's gonna get Jeongguk back anyway. The younger is happier with Taehyung. But Jimin wished that he could find Jeongguk when Jimin opened his eyes in the morning, whereas he ends up mourning everytime he remembers that Taehyung would replace him now, the one who will sleep beside Jeongguk and be the pillow that Jeongguk will embrace tightly in his sleep.
So when Jimin met Jeongguk in the park, the park they used to play a lot together in the past, Jimin couldn't help but grin at the younger. The boy who has grown into a man, a young fine man to be exact, is now as handsome as ever. Even more handsome than the last time they met, if it's possible. His ruffled bangs which is slightly messy and his piercing but soft gaze never changed, and Jimin loved every bits and every parts of the boy.
But Jimin's heart pound hurtfully everytime he sees Jeongguk, and it aches so much that Jimin almost throw up. What hurt the most is their break up. It would've been better if Jeongguk ended their relationship with 'i don't love you anymore, Jimin hyung' but actually the reason of their break up is none other than the sweet, sweet Taehyung. Jimin agrees that Taehyung is such a lovable man, but he's the main reason Jeongguk broke up with Jimin.
Taehyung had been crushing Jeongguk ever since they first met in the university, meanwhile Jeongguk had been liking Jimin ever since high school, and Jimin had been loving Jeongguk ever since middle school. Taehyung abruptly pushed himself into Jimin and Jeongguk's life, trying to tear them apart but in the end, Jeongguk chose Jimin over Taehyung.
Jimin knows Taehyung likes Jeongguk even though the latter doesn't tell. Sometimes Jimin find Taehyung scowling secretly at him when Jeongguk hugged him, and Jimin catches how Taehyung would glare at him when nobody's looking then he would change into his sweet self again when he notices someone's looking at him.
Taehyung is not actually a sweet man, and Jimin is actually surprised to know how quick witted he is when he knows he's dense at times, but Jimin knows how it feels like when you like someone but that someone doesn't like you back. Taehyung has tried so many things just to win Jeongguk from Jimin that he ends up telling lies to Jeongguk to break Jimin and Jeongguk apart.
That day, Jimin was out with Hoseok, practicing for their new choreography until it's late at night. It was raining, and it was too late to take a bus since the bus has stopped operating two hours ago. Hoseok invited Jimin to sleep at his flat, since his apartment isn't that far from the dance studio. At first Jimin declines politely, saying he would walk home when the rain's over since it's only a fifteen minutes of walking from there to his and Jeongguk's apartment and he didn't want to worry the latter for not coming home. Hoseok nods, but when Jimin sneezes, Hoseok found out that Jimin has a high fever and the latter's close to passing out. Hoseok immediately runs to him and holds the younger, preventing from Jimin to fall. Hoseok ends up piggybacking Jimin back to his apartment, not forgetting to cover Jimin with his jacket so that the rain wouldn't pour on the younger.
Unfortunately, Taehyung saw everything from the convenience store across the dance studio. The latter called Jeongguk and immediately tells everything to him with lie coated words and Jeongguk, being the one without a good self-control, ends his call with Taehyung only to punch Jimin's number furiously to call the older and confirms if Jimin is really cheating on him or not.
And unfortunately, Jimin's phone is out of battery, which Jeongguk assumes that Jimin is having too much fun cheating on him that he didn't pick up Jeongguk's phone calls.
The next day Jimin comes home to his and Jeongguk's apartment, he finds Jeongguk's things are all gone. Jimin charges his phone immediately when he reaches his room and when he turns his phone on, there's hundreds of texts and twenty missed calls, all from Jeongguk. Jimin's head clicks about something as he dashed out from his room only to find a sticky note left by Jeongguk. He stares and reads sadly at the sticky note on the fridge which is written with Jeongguk's messy handwriting.
'We're over. Have fun with your new boyfriend.'
Tonight, back in the park, Jimin wanted to tell Jeongguk the truth so bad. He wished that he could tell Jeongguk everything that the latter misunderstood, but he ends up telling nothing, standing quietly and fidgeting with his fingers as he beams shyly at the younger, pretending that everything is okay and he kept the truth to himself although part of him wanted to scream the truth behind all of their misunderstandings so that maybe, hopefully, Jeongguk will run back to him and they'd be together again.
Jeongguk scratched the back of his head while looking bored and uncomfortable, he's ready to walk away from Jimin since the older looks like he won't say anything sooner or later and Jimin is practically wasting his time. When he starts to turn away, the older caught Jeongguk's wrists and turned the taller around. Jimin hesitates at first, but he settles down as he tiptoes and he leans to Jeongguk's face, which he froze when he remembered Jeongguk's status. The man is no longer his and he should know his place, so Jimin bit his lips and ends up giving Jeongguk a simple peck on his right cheek.
Jeongguk frowned and looked at him with questioning looks with pink colored cheeks, and Jimin replies the look Jeongguk gave him with one of his fake grin.
As much as he wants Jeongguk back again, he prefers Jeongguk being happy better. Jeongguk is happy with Taehyung, so why not? Why would he tell the truth when Jeongguk's already happy? He wouldn't risk Jeongguk's happy grins for his own selfishness. So Jimin ends up muttering a quiet apology and smiles one last time to Jeongguk before leaving the park with a wounded heart that has been broke for the nth time ever since they broke up.
Little did Jimin know, Jeongguk stays there, standing quietly as he looks Jimin's small figure slowly fading away, eaten by the darkness of the night. Jeongguk looks down at his shoes, and he realizes it's the shoes, a Timberlake that Jimin has gifted him for his birthday last year. He knows how Jimin worked hard to save money so he can buy the Timberlake Jeongguk had been eyeing for a while. Jimin is tired, but he acts like it's nothing when he gifts Jeongguk the Timberlake with a grin and crinkling eyes as he shoves the shoes to Jeongguk and tells him to wear them well.
Jeongguk smiled at the memory as he feel his heart clench. He shouldn't feel like this when Jimin had cheated on him, but part of him betrays his brain as the heart tells Jeongguk that he's still in love with Jimin.
That night, Jeongguk walks home alone while reminiscing his and Jimin's moments in the past.
