Work Text:

It's 11am. Fiona is in the kitchen standing in front of the stove, stirring a small pot of tomato soup. She sets down the spoon and steps towards the fridge, opening the door and grabbing a few slices of processed cheese wrapped in plastic as well as whatever is remaining of the stick of butter. She places the cheese on the counter next to the stove where the pot of soup bubbles throughout the kitchen. She opens up one of the cupboards above the stove and takes out a loaf of brown grain bread, Patty's favourite because it's healthy and also very delicious. The other two women also enjoy how it tastes, especially when toasted.

Fiona reaches inside the bagged loaf of bread and takes six bread slices out, now opening up the processed cheese and inserting two of the cheese between two slices of bread to make extra cheesy grilled cheese sandwiches. Chloe always asks for extra cheese and so Fiona obliges. The utensil drawer slides open, Fiona's fingers clutching the handle, and she takes a butter knife from the tray of other knives, forks and spoons.

Now she has all of the things she needs to make grilled cheese, but she's missing something...
Right! She didn't get a pan.

Fiona crouches down and opens one of the lower pantry units, grabbing a small pan and standing back up to set it on a burner next to the pot of soup. She cuts a bit off from the butter and taps the knife against the rim, the butter plopping down on the side and now turning up the heat so it can melt.

She finishes up preparing the sandwiches to be grilled and turns to the doorway of the kitchen to smile at Chloe, who looks like she has just woken up.

"Good morning, sleepy head," she chuckles, causing her girlfriend to groan in response. "Didn't sleep well?"
"I'm hung over, Fio," Chloe complains.
"I know, baby. I'm making lunch. Think you can wait ten minutes?" Fiona asks. Chloe nods and pulls a chair back from the table so she can sit down.

Now that she knew that one of her girls was awake, Fiona returned to making the soup and sandwiches. Chloe leaned forward to rest her head on the table and used her arms as a pillow to prop up her head, watching Fiona cook lunch.

Once the butter began to melt, Fiona picked up one of the cold sandwiches with her fingers and placed it in the pan with the melted butter and watched as it began to sizzle. Now getting herself a spatula from the pantry drawer and using the flat back end to press down on the bread, the sizzling of the butter cooking the bread becoming slightly louder.

"Don't burn it," Chloe remarked.
Fiona smiled and rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, I won't."

Patricia rubbed her eyes and walked into the kitchen, tying up her dreads with a scrunchie and still wearing her pyjamas. "Morning, babes."
Chloe lifted her head up from the table. "G'morning, cutie."

Fiona hummed to herself and pretended to not hear Patty walking up behind her. Two arms snaked around her waist and a kiss was pressed to her cheek.

"Whatcha cookin', pretty lady?" Patty asked.
"Lunch. Be careful or I'll burn myself, baby," Fiona answered. Patty nodded and pulled away to go sit down with Chloe at the table.

Chloe looked across at Patty at pouted, puffing her cheeks out. "Where's my kiss?"
Patty stood back up and leaned over the table to turn Chloe's face towards her and gave her a kiss on the lips.
"There, princess. Happy?" Patty teased.
"Hehe.. Yeah.." Chloe giggled happily, sitting back down and clearly in a giddy mood now that she got a kiss from one of her girlfriends.

Slowly passing the time while talking to each other, Fiona now had three grilled cheese sandwiches on separate plates and was fetching three bowls from the bowl and plate cabinet and setting them down on the counter next to the stove. She lifted the soup ladle and carefully spooned some tomato soup into the bowls, topped with spoons to go with. There would still be more soup if the girls wanted extra.

Fiona carried the plates of sandwiches to the table and placed them in front of each woman, and following suit with the bowls of soup. She pulled back her own chair and sat down at the table with Patricia and Chloe.

Chloe sat up happily and took her sandwich to dip into the soup. Patricia preferred to eat the sandwich by itself instead of dipping it in her soup.

"Is it good? Fiona asked, slurping a spoonful of her own soup. Chloe and Patricia both nodded in response.
"That's good, then.." she sighed, smiling to herself.

The ladies silently ate their lunch, Chloe finishing eating faster than the other two and getting herself another bowl of soup to eat. She even stained her Korn t-shirt with some of the tomato soup so there's just a patch of soup stain on her chest.

"Baby, you got some on your shirt," Patty commented. Chloe looked down at the stain and frowned.
"Fuck. This is my favourite one, too," she whined.
"It's okay, hun, we can just put it through the wash and it'll be like you never spilled your soup on it," Fiona said as reassurance, which made Chloe feel a bit better.
"That's true..."

Fiona stood up from the table and put her now empty dishes in the sink, opening up a cabinet next to the fridge and taking out a pill bottle with Chloe's name on it. Antipsychotics and antidepressants. She also filled up a cup of cold ice water and set down the glass and two pills in front of Chloe.

"You forgot to take your meds, Chloe," Fiona reminded her. Chloe groaned and put both pills in her mouth, then took a big swig of the water. She did gag a bit but she never did take medication easily.

The three finished their lunch with Chloe volunteering to do the dishes. Patty took to watching tv in the next room over and Fiona had offered to clean Chloe's t-shirt in the meantime, which meant that she was doing dishes shirtless. But she didn't mind.

Life was pretty normal for them. Everything was getting a bit better for the three of them. Chloe was improving mentally, Patricia was getting magazine deals, and Fiona? Fiona was Fiona. She loved making her girlfriends happy.
