Chapter Text

Vlad was internally panicking, he had just gotten a call from his old ‘friend’ from collage, Jack Fenton, that he was unsure his wife was going to survive labor. Vlad may hate Jack Fenton, but he LOVED Madeline Fenton, and hated that, that buffoon of a man got to marry her while he was in the hospital with his ecto acne.

Vlad didn’t know what he would do with himself if the love of his life died giving birth to a child of Jack Fenton.
Vlad shook the thoughts from his head, he was currently in his ghost form and was flying to the hospital in Amity Park where Maddie was staying. right before he arrived at the hospital, he made himself invisible, and searched for the room Maddie was in. When he finally found it, he sighed in relief to see that Maddie was still alive, despite looking worse for wear.

Vlad moved over towards the window to make sure he was not in the way of any doctors. He decided he could no longer bear to see the women he loved in such a state anymore he decided to look out the window, just to realize there was a solar eclipse happening, which was odd. Vlad had always kept track of any important natural occurrences, and a solar eclipse was most definitely one of those occurrences.

Vlad watched the eclipse in awe, although most people needed special glasses to watch them, thanks to Vlad’s ghostly eyes, he didn’t need them. No matter how many times he would watch an eclipse they always seemed to amaze Vlad, just as the sun was fully covered by the moon Vlad’s attention was stolen from him as he heard the sound of a baby crying.

Vlad turned around, to see the small infant which was making the noise. He slowly floated over to the child, which was now in Maddie’s arms, and he felt a strange feeling inside him. He stared at the child as it calmed down and couldn’t help but smile at it. Vlad felt a need to protect the child, to hold the child in his arms, Vlad frowned at the thought as he watched Jack walk over to the child and pick it up.

Vlad sighed and floated over to the infant now in Jacks arms, the put his hand on the infants rosy, red cheek, and smiled. The smile quickly faded; Vlad knew he would never have children of his own. He didn’t want to have children unless it was with Madeline, but he knew it was impossible. Vlad sent a final glare at the man holding the infant and floated off, knowing now that Maddie would survive, he had nothing to worry about.

The sun rose on a beautiful Sunday morning, two parents were standing next to a crib in a room which looked like it was built for a baby boy, having blue walls, decorated with stars and spaceships. The father, who was quite large, with sapphire blue eyes, and black hair, picked up his son, who had the same black hair as him, but the boys’ eyes were an icy blue.

“Hey there Danny-Boy” the father spoke softly “You will be the best ghost hunter there ever has been! Well right after me and your mother” The man put the baby back in his crib and tries to hand a toy gun to the one-month-old baby “Here! You can practice with this.”

“Nope!” The mother said snatching the toy before her husband could hand it to her son. She was much smaller than her husband, having violet eyes, and brandishing auburn air. “What have told you about giving weapons to our children jack?” “Uh not to? Jee I am sorry Maddie but its not dangerous or anything its just a toy!”

Her husband grabbed the toy gun from her “See it doesn’t even shoot” the man was cut off when the weapon did in fact shoot a blast of green energy leaving a scorch mark on the wall “whoops must have grabbed the wrong one!”

Maddie glared at jack, but it soon melted away, she could never truly stay angry at her husband, even if he did do some irresponsible things from time to time. A small and weak knock was heard at the infant’s door, the parents walked over and the door and greeted their other child, a little two-year-old girl, with cyan eyes and the same auburn hair her mother has.

“Good morning princess!” Jack greeted his daughter, “Did you sleep well?” The girl just nodded and rubbed her eyes “can Danny come out and play?” the small child asked. The parents looked back at their son and noticed he had fallen back asleep.

“Maybe in a bit jazzy Danny is a baby so he needs lots of sleep so let’s let him sleep a little bit longer” Her mother picked her up and they all walked out of the room, none of them feeling the other presence that was in the room.

A creature appeared next to Danny’s crib, it had blue skin, red eyes, had a clock in its chest and wore a purple cloak. The creature touched Danny’s soft rosy cheek and he woke up. But there was no fear in his eyes, as if he had seen this creature many times before, Danny held his arms up and grabbed the air singling he wanted to be picked up.

The creature picked him up and hugged him as if it was the last time, he would see the young boy. “I’m sorry Daniel, I won’t be able to visit any longer. If I did it could greatly harm the flow of time, and that would not be good.”

The baby cooed and grabbed the ghost’s nose not truly knowing what he was saying. “I will miss you, Daniel. And I am truly sorry for what you will have to go through” The ghost shed a tear “But everything is as it should be” He set Danny back in his crib gave him a stuffed pocket watched and disappeared, right before the boy’s parents walked in.

Danny started crying when he realized the ghost was no longer there and grabbed the stuffed toy he had just been given before his mother picked him up. “You must be hungry let’s heat you up a bottle” Maddie cooed at Danny trying to calm him down.

But Danny was not hungry! He wanted his ghost friend to come back! But it’s not like he could tell his mother that he couldn’t even talk yet. He just held the Stuffed pocket watch close to his face and calmed himself down. Ok he had to admit he was a little hungry and the promise of a bottle did sound nice.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Timeskip 4 years

Danny was now 4 so he was attending pre-school, he had made 2 friends Tucker and Sam, Sam was a pasty girl who always wore pink but constantly complained about it, and black hair like his own, and had lilac eyes, while Tucker was Dark skinned had brown eyes, and always wore a red beret. They were inseparable.

“Maybe you guys can come over to my house to play after school” Danny said eating his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, it was lunch time for the kids, so they were all in the lunchroom. “No, my parents don’t really like me going to your house after what happened with one of your blasters last time. It took months to grow my hair back!” Sam said eating her salad, she was an ultra-recycle vegetarian, while Tucker chomped away at his steak- who even brings steak to school for lunch it must get cold and chewy Danny thought. Tucker did, Danny said in his head.

“Yeah, my parents don’t want me at your folk’s place either, not after I came home with half my clothes burned off a month ago! “Tucker said biting into his steak, not even cutting it up. “I guess I’ll have to hang out with jazz again” Danny sighed still stuffing his mouth with his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Soon after the final bell rang for school, Danny looked for his older sister jazz, most parents picked their kids up from school, but not their parents. They were always too busy ‘ghost hunting’. As if! Ghosts are not even real! His parents were crazy! But that’s just how life was, his sister took good care of him though, she always made sure he got to school on time and had a packed lunch since his parents often forgot to make him one.

As the two walked home they talked about how their days went at school, and jazz was talking about something called- what was it? Psycho something. It didn’t matter, he tuned her out most of the time. If there was one thing his sister loved more than him, it was to talk, and talk, and talk. It annoyed him sometimes but that was ok, he stilled loved his big sister.

When they arrived at their house, they saw the giant flashing sign that said “Fenton Works” Jeez could his parents be over the top. Many of the kids at his school made fun of him for having nut job parents and he just wished they would be normal. But he knew that would never happen. After what happened with his uncle Vlad his parents would never stop their ghost obsession.

Right before they walked in, they heard an explosion, but didn’t even react, they barely even flinched, since this was their normal. It would have shocked them more if it had been quiet, they got used to the constant explosions, and glass breaking, and all of the other weird noises that came from their parents’ lab.

As they walked in, they saw their father covered from head to toe in soot, “come here Danny-boy help your daddy out!” His father grabbed Danny and pulled him down to the lab before Jazz or Danny could protest, they were already in the lab in their basement. Danny sighed, but he was used to this by now.

He remembered the amazement the first time he had been allowed to come down here a little less than a year ago. He was three at the time, and his parents couldn’t find a babysitter, while they worked and his sister Jasmine had school, so he spent almost every day down here up until school ended for the summer and his sister could watch him again. Although his sister was only 2 and a half years older than him, she was ten times as mature. At six, she already knew how to cook things like mac-and-cheese, and use the oven, and do her own laundry! (And usually his laundry too).

Jazz usually watched him when they were home unless his parents took him down in the lab to ‘help them’ it was usually something where they needed little fingers to grab a screw they dropped or help them clean the lab after they had an “accident” which usually was something blowing up. It annoyed Danny. Why did HE have to clean up after them? Why did he have to come straight home everyday when everyone else got to go play with their friends?

Danny sighed as he asked his father want he needed help with, and as he expected, he was grabbing something from under the couch in the lab, the boy sighed as he shoved his arm to find the weapon his father dropped and when he finally found it and grabbed it, it was all sticky, Danny HATED sticky, but he still had to get it for his parents so he tightened his grip on the gun and gasped when it cut his, but he still pulled it out. He would have to have jazz check his cut later.

He handed the weapon to his father and noticed his hand was completely covered in some green sticky liquid. Gross. “Can I go now?” Danny asked annoyed now that he had this weird gross sticky liquid all over his head “yeah yeah go ahead” His mother Madeline answered not even looking up from whatever she was working on. At one point it may have hurt Danny’s feelings, but he was used to it now.

Danny headed upstairs and looked at his hand, his red blood mixed with the weird green liquid, it stung a bit so he headed straight to jazz so she could clean it for him, as he looked at the cut he started to cry, now it started to REALLY hurt, the liquid was like acid on his hand, and by the time he got to his sister he was not even able to speak he was so upset

“It- it- it” Danny sobbed out, but jazz could not understand him, so he just showed her his hand “Oh no let’s get that cleaned up right now!” Jazz said worriedly, she dragged him to the bathroom with his good hand and grabbed the step stool so they could reach the sink. Danny’s face was beat red from crying, so jazz just took the liberty and put Danny’s hand under the water for him. The liquid washed off fairly easily which calmed him down a bit, but now he could really see the cut on his hand, and he started crying even louder.

Jazz reassured him it would be ok and grabbed the bandages from under the sink and wrapped them around the cut on his hand to stop the bleeding, and finally Danny calmed down. “All better?” Jazz asked ruffling his hair, and Danny just nodded. He was glad he had his sister to take care of him. She always made everything better.
